• Tobias (10/5): Grossartige Berghütte etwas abseits vom Riesentrubel am Skilift - Wunderschöne Berghütte, Mit holzbeheiztem Outdoor - Jacuzzi (die 30 € sind gut investiertes Geld nach einer langen Ätna-Tour). Der Hüttenwirt ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Es hat uns sehr gefallen. Vielen Dank und hoffentlich auf bald einmal wieder.! Wir hatten das grosszügig, geschnittene Doppelzimmer (Einliegerwohnung im ersten OG) mit separaten Bad. Uns beiden haben die Matratzen leider nicht gefallen.

• Unterwegs (6/5): - Die Nähe zum Ätna war ausgezeichnet und das Bett der rustikalen Unterkunft war bequem. Wir hatten beim Abendessen leider das Gefühl, dass die Preise in keinem angemessenen Verhältnis zur Leistung standen. Für das teuerste Essen auf der Insel hätten wir eine deutlich höhere Qualität erwartet, als uns letztlich geboten wurde. Zudem war das Zimmer im Keller sehr dunkel und die Nachttischleuchten hatten zunächst von uns geladen werden müssen.
• Ana&Sergio (6/5): - Ubicación excelente, a 7 minutos en coche del refugió de Sapienza desde donde salen los tours al Etna. Nos permitió hacer el check-in más tarde, nos ofreció desayuno y cena. Somos conscientes de que es un refugio de montaña, pero llegamos y la cama era un sofá cama incomodísimo. La limpieza regular, dan una toalla pequeña de manos (aunque se indica previamente durante la reserva). En general en la habitación y baño las instalaciones son muy anticuadas.
• Martin (10/5): Kind and helpful staff - A big thanks goes to the owner/manager and his cook, who arrived late in the evening on last minute notice, almost two hours after the official check-in time, just to welcome me (as the single guest that night) and cook dinner for me! It was warm, clean and comfortable.

I don't know if they had a fight before we arrived or not, but it was definitely not pleasant on our arrival. Shower head was broken.

• Randal (10/5): A serene place in the forest, it would be great to stay longer. Un posto tranquillo nella foresta, sarebbe fantastico - It was exactly what we wanted and more. It has a comfortable, “real” feel with no pretensions and was immaculately clean. It was like visiting the home of an old friend where you immediately feel at home. Era esattamente quello che volevamo, e anche di più. L'atmosfera era confortevole e "reale", senza pretese, ed era pulitissimo. Era come andare a casa di un vecchio amico, dove ci si sente subito a casa.

To be fair, the staff did try to make me welcome though there was sometimes a language problem. I would like to stay again but only with my own transport. My basement room was quite cosy If you don’t have your own transport, this place is a bit far from anywhere. It’s nearly a 1 hour walk up to the cable car station. You have a long walk to the once a day bus or must pay out to be collected/dropped. I was quoted €60 to be met from the airport but was charged €70. The wifi didn’t work the first 2 days and the staff there didn’t know how to fix it. On day 3 it was fixed, I think by a Maltese school party staying there. The straircase going down to the basement bedrooms has no light at the top, I fell once going down in the dark
• Schürpf (8/5): Einfaches Rifugio, hübsch gelegen, leider mit falscher Ortsangabe auf Booking - Wir haben das Rifugio als Startpunkt für unsere Äthna-Tour gewählt. Es hat die Einfavhheit, den Charakter und Charme einer Berghütte. Soweit alles gut. Wir hatten uns auf dem Weg verspätet und sind bereits im Dunkeln nach Navi gefahren. Wir kamen zuerst bei einer anderen, nicht betreuten Unterkunft an. Telefonisch war etwa 2h niemand erreichbar. Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass die Ortsangabe auf der Booking falsch war!!! Schlussendlich fanden wir es doch noch. Wir hoffen, die Angaben sind aktuell korrekt!

• rick (5/5): deceiving - parking was available. dinner was over priced for what you got and so was breakfast. Stay and eat some where else. The pictures are deceiving. So sorry about the bad review. I have to say that I liked Grazia, Carlos' cousin. Our room was in the dark dungeon in the basement. The room had a bad odor and the sheets were not clean, but the pillow cases were clean which was deceiving. The comforter, blanket and drapes old and dark. yuk

• Vernimmen (10/5): - De ontvangst door Giancarlo de gastheer was excellent, zeker ook omdat we door omstandigheden een stuk later aankwamen dan we eerst gemeld hadden aan hem. Om 8u ´s avonds bood hij zelfs nog aan om diner voor ons te maken. Dat hoefde hij voor ons niet te doen. De refugio is een bijzondere plaats, ook al waren er alleen. Ook als het volzet is moet het er denk ik leuk zijn.

La table qui peut être commune permet l'échange avec les autres hôtes. La chambre avec salle d'eau attenante est très confortable pour un refuge. Je recommande fortement cet endroit.

• Hudcovič (10/5): Super, splnilo to naše očakávania. - Prišli sme neskôr, ako bolo plánované, domáci pán nás čakal, bol veľmi príjemný a ponúkol nám večeru, ktorá nám veľmi chutila. Ubytovanie tesne pod Etnou, takže cesta ráno k lanovke trvala veľmi krátko. Môžeme len odporučiť. Nenašli sme nič, čo by sa nám na tomto ubytovaní nepáčilo.

• Sascha (8/5): - Was mir am besten gefallen hat, war das menschliche zwischen einander Da bekommt man noch ein italienisches Flair mit. Italienische Gäste gehen dort zum Essen hin und es kommt wie ein großes Italienisches fest rüber, oder sie kommen zum Übernachten. Die machen dort lecker Spaghetti auf verschiedensten Arten. Die meisten Gäste bleiben nur für eine oder drei Übernachtungen. Es lohnt sich für eine Übernachtung für Leute, die eine Tour zum Ätna gebucht haben, da der Lift mit dem Auto in 5 Minuten zu erreichen ist. Für Leute die 3 Tage bleiben wollen, lohnt es sich oft für die mit dem Fahrrad da sind oder Wandern gehen. Die können von dort auch schnell von der Südseite starten. Es gibt natürlich auch Fahrrad Touren oder Verleih von Anbieter auf Ätna. Natürlich gibt es auch Gäste die etwas länger dableiben. Ich war eine Woche dort und habe Wander Touren gemacht und auch einfach mal zu entspannen von Trubel der groß Stadt. Es waren auch viele Motorräd Fahrer da die eine Übernachtung Suchten. Es wird auch ein Shuttle Services vom oder zum Flughafen angeboten. Wo man gute Informationen bekommt aus erste Hand und man auch ein bisschen die Gegend gezeigt bekommt. Es ist persönlicher als mit dem Bus oder mit dem Taxi zu fahren. Es gibt auch Aspekte, die mir bei meinem Aufenthalt nicht so gut gefallen haben. Zum Frühstück gab es leider immer das gleiche Menü. Zwar war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis in Ordnung, aber ein wenig mehr Abwechslung und eine ausgewogenere Auswahl wären wünschenswert gewesen. Für Gäste, die nur eine Nacht bleiben, mag dies ausreichend sein, doch für einen längeren Aufenthalt wäre mehr Vielfalt sicherlich angenehm. Ein weiterer Punkt, der mir aufgefallen ist, sind die Plastikbecher. In Zeiten, in denen Nachhaltigkeit immer wichtiger wird, sind solche Einwegprodukte einfach nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Hier könnte man definitiv umweltfreundlichere Alternativen anbieten. Ich habe auch eine Speisekarte für Mittag- und Abendessen vermisst. Es wäre schön gewesen, wenn man die Möglichkeit gehabt hätte, was es nach dem Frühstück noch weitere Angebote wahrnehmen zu können. Zusätzlich muss ich erwähnen, dass die Erreichbarkeit der Umgebung mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln sehr eingeschränkt ist. Der Bus fährt in der Gegend nur zweimal am Tag, was die Mobilität für Touristen stark einschränkt. Im oberen Bereich des Ätna gibt es zudem keinen Supermarkt, was bedeutet, dass Wasser   teuer sind.
• Guest (5/5): Wunderschöne, günstige, einfache Hütte ohne Luxus - Hütte kurz vor der Seilbahnstation im Wald. Sehr schön gelegen und preisgünstig. Man muss aber das einfache Hüttenleben mögen, sonst wird man enttäuscht sein. - Es gab ein Handtuch pro Person. Und es roch feucht im Zimmer. Wir waren aber nur eine Nacht dort, dafür hat das in Ordnung. Wir hatten nachts ein Gewitter kurz und heftig, danach war weder Strom noch Wasser noch WLAN verfügbar. Einen Kompressor gab es scheinbar nicht. Da ist es dann gut, wenn man wenigstens sein eigenes Wasser dabei hat und der Handyakku geladen ist. Wir würden aber immer wieder dort einkehren. Entsprechend vorbereitet ist das Erlebnisurlaub pur.

• Chiara (10/5): Una bellissima nottata al rifugio con persone eccezionali. - Rifugio bellissimo, molto caratteristico, situato in una posizione strategica per visitare il maestoso Etna. Camera pulita e comoda, i signori gentilissimi mi hanno fornito tutto ciò di cui avevo bisogno, il signore mi ha dato indicazioni e consigli su come andare a vedere la colata lavica, e infine al rientro mi hanno preparato una cena eccezionale (ottime le verdure cucinate dalla signora e la pasta al pistacchio). Carinissima la signora Grazia siamo rimaste ore a chiacchierare dopo cena, mi ha preparato una tisana perchè mi ero infreddolita all'aperto e mi ha coccolato fino alla buonanotte. Mi hanno fatto sentire davvero a casa, anzi forse anche meglio. Tornerò sicuramente con molto piacere.

• Guest (8/5): - El trato de Giancarlo ha sido fantástico, nos ha explicado con mucho detalle posibles excursiones por la zona. Hemos compartido charlas con él sobre lugares y viajes por Europa. Es un lugar perfecto para estar apartado de la zona más concurrida donde se encuentran todas las instalaciones para subir al Etna.Y sólo estarás a 8 min de ahí, en un bosque con mucha sombra y mesitas en el exterior del refugio.

• Raymond (6/5): I wouldn’t go back. - The proprietor was very helpful and affable. He was very obliging re meals. The beers in the dining room were easily accessible. The dinner was excellent apart from the stale bread that seemed to be offered again for breakfast. It was quite isolated. The corridors were poorly lit - I had to use my phone torch to find the corridor light switch. The tight circular stairway down to the bedroom was dangerous. The shower stall was small and leaked terribly. The shower head collapsed making a shower impossible. There was no place to put anything (like soap) in the shower. The toilet baited the sink and there was no toilet paper holder.

• Erika (9/5): - I often stay in high mountain Rifugios in the Alps, so - judging by its name - I expected something like that. But no, to my biggest surprise, it is like a nice, but basic hotel in the middle of the forest. It had a convenient bathroom, a very comfy bed and it was super quiet, so we fell asleep within a nanosecond. I never understood why many ratings at booking.com are about the staff, but here's my first ever contribution to this: I have never met so nice, kind, friendly and flexible people. We were greeted warmly by the owner ( I guess), and the cook prepared dinner just for us later than expected, because we went for a hike, and woke up early because we left early. Supersweet. And we have never eaten such a good pistachio pasta meal before. Thank you. (I am still searching for a similar recipe on the net)

On y a trouvé un petit scorpion vivant , la chasse d'eau de notre salle de bain et des autres chambres faisaient énormément de bruit. C'est très compliqué de se faire comprendre si on ne parle pas italien car aucun ne parle ni français ni anglais. C'est dommage parce qu'on sent une vraie gentillesse des gens

Somewhere safe to park the car on the property. Basic refuge accommodation, to be expected. Communication with host was not easy, not much response. Room was dirty, with stained towels and bedding but it's ok....

• Alena (6/5): Great location, close to Etna. Lovely staff. - Location to Etna is amazing. From the refuge to the cable car its about a 9 min drive. The road from the towns below up to Etna is really long and winding so I was happy to have a base further up the mountain so I wouldn't have to drive this at 7am. The rooms are in the basement of the refuge so they feel a bit dark and enclosed. The location was good but it wouldn't want to spend any significant time hanging out in the communal areas or the outside picnic benches.
