Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): - Love LOVE Love the Drift Inn. My favorite place to stay on island. Super awesome that they have a kitchen! Nice to go out now and again, but having access to cook some of my own meals is such a great option. Tortuga, the tortyshell kitty makes this place homey, plus Hailey (super sweet owner) makes Drift Inn the very best place to stay. I love getting back to the island and getting welcome by friends at Drift Inn. You will miss out if you overlook this hidden gem!!
- Mac Gregore (10/5): My stay at Drift Inn, San Pedro - Really loved the place, felt like I was actually living in San Pedro.
It gave the home or appartement vibe but got all the amenities and technology to make you feel as confortable as possible.
Staff is great, welcoming, very nice people. The host or owner is proactive and gave you in advance all the details you would need to access the place and feelat ease.
Location is great as well, just behind the beach area with restaurants and bars (30 second walk to get to the beach side) but you are still able to have your peace and tranquility when needed.
Definitly recommend the place and would go back.
- Gilbert (10/5): - Comfortable cozy and clean
- Victor (10/5): - The hosts were SUPER helpful and nice! We asked them for help with booking tours and they would just make it happen!
- Fayaz (10/5): - Incredible value!
Very impressed with the mother & daughter ownership team
- Jason (8/5): - Great little place. The staff was great. It was quiet and close to everything we needed.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Everyone was so nice and helpful. Super clean and comfortable. In a nice location in town to get around. Connected to our favorite restaurant we found the Sandbar. Will definitely stay again!
- Lonnie (10/5): - Great staff clean affordable
Great place they treat you like family
- Lonnie (10/5): - Awesome staff they are like family
Coffee in morning is great
Walk to everything or cart parking
- Lonnie (10/5): - Great staff so friendly and clean place
Coffee in morning is great
Local so easy to get around
- Khanh (10/5): - Friendly Helpful Staff
- Kevin (8/5): Great stay, great value - This location is an amazing value for a short stay in San Pedro. It doesn't have "resort feels" but delivers on all the necessities with a central location. The neighboring Sand Bar Hostel provides an easy access beach bar.
Also, recommend reading the owner's story/recommendations provided in each suite. It's inspiring and has great ideas to maximize your San Pedro experience.
- Anthony (10/5): - Staff was great!
- Brittany (10/5): - GREAT LOCATION! Awesome kind helpful staff. The little restaurant attached to it was very good and overlooks the beach. It's also one of the only restaurants open late. Had AC and fan, free water and coffee every day and even bikes to use. Plus in San Pedro you need a golf cart to get around so there are many options close by. We used MTK Golf Cart rental which is a five minute walk away and they were great and clean golf carts for a good price. The only issue was that it did have some noisey neighbors but rather then that was fine. The free kitchen they also had was good to for those days we didn't want to buy food and to just cook. They also called use a cab and helped us to get to the airport for departure. We'd stay here again and even bring our 8 year old next time.
- neal (10/5): - The property is in the middle of everything. There is lots around to do and see. They have a community kitchen to use with everything you need. The restaurant and bar attached to the hotel is one of the best in town and priced reasonably with amazing pizza and local favorites. Laundry service is available and the staff can help you with whatever you need. Will return again!

- John (10/5): - I luv the staff super nice
- Michael (10/5): - Great place to meet new people!
- caitlin (6/5): - Much darker rooms than in photos. No natural light at all
- John (10/5): - Great location. Polite, attentive staff. Well appointed room.
- Eddie (10/5): - Staff very helpful. Pool was nice & cool! Easy access to beach. Hammocks on the second floor for relaxing. Will definitely stay again!
- Pat (8/5): - Generator (had to) go on at 6:45am due to loss of power. Other than that, pretty darn good.
- Lonnie (10/5): - Awesome local spot, good value, clean, great staff
coffee in Am, kitchens great
- Lonnie (10/5): - Cant say enough about the Staff, Stephanie, Kevin, Ana, they are great, like old friends, coffee in AM is real!
clean and value
- Robert (10/5): - Staff, accommodation and location were perfect for us.
- Dean T (10/5): - The staff made all the difference in my time there. All were into caring for the needs of their clients.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Beautiful
- Alison (4/5): - Sink didn’t work in the room; beds were broken and very uncomfortable with terrible pillows and no blankets.
super loud location. common areas smelled like garbage and had tons of flies so it was almost impossible to sit there comfortably, we were grateful that sandbar restaurant was close for a better relaxing environment (but terribly loud at night)
Terrible communication with staff about bookings, extra costs charged and golf cart rentals.
We moved to coastal suites and even being in the center of a busy street it was quieter and the rooms were just as spacious with better beds and pillows
- matt (10/5): - Nice hostel conveniently located near the beach front and the dive shops.
- Lonnie (10/5): - Great staff
Coffee
Safe clean good value
- Lonnie (10/5): - coffee in mornings, clean, and safe
- Noah (10/5): - I got a private room and ended up in the iguana (king size bed) room after booking a double. Room was spacious and clean; included desk and refrigerator. Clean water and microwave available right outside the room. Sandbar restaurant attached was nice and has good food. Staff was friendly and check in/out was very easy. Walkable to restaurants on the beach, grocery store, and dive shops/tour companies. Would stay again!
- Diane (10/5): - Stephanie was a absolute gem and the other guest were like family. I truly enjoy my tume there. 💯🎶🌞were very nice and caring. The atmosphere was p
- Doug (10/5): - Our second stay at the property. We will come back. Great location, helpful friendly staff.
- Akolade (10/5): - Great place to stay and great value for the price! I loved everything about it and would stay again. 10/10
- Donald (10/5): - Ckeck in was quick and easy. Room very clean and comfortable
- Bryce (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Arthur J (10/5): - Fantastic staff. Very clean and well kept property. Just completed my 3rd stay here and I'll stay here the next time I go to San Pedro.
- Karen (10/5): Drift Inn - BEST place to stay on the island! - The Drift Inn is my favorite place to stay on the island - right in the heart of the fun of Boca del Rio. Clean, comfortable with shareable fully stocked kitchen and grills if you wish to cook yourself. You probably won't want to given you will be in short walking distance to some of the most incredible restaurants with authentic Belizean food. Some of the unique things about staying at the Drift Inn - there are always friendly travelers, the staff at Drift Inn are AMAZING, and Ms. Tortuga will greet you every morning while you are sipping your coffee in one of the relaxing hammocks in the courtyard right next to the sparking pool. Ms. Tortuga is friendly, loves to give snuggles, nudges and purrs, but be warned - this is only on HER terms! Stephanie and Kevin, along with the entire crew at the Drift Inn make your stay extra special - very kind, accommodating and welcoming... I'm usually just as excited to see my friends at Drift Inn as I am to get back to the paradise of the island. HIGHLY, highly recommend Drift Inn!!
- Nicholas (10/5): - I
- Jason (10/5): My first choice for a quick solo trip - Excellent location. Comfortable mattress. Excellent air conditioning. Very safe. Priced right.
- Shelby (10/5): - All I need to say about this property is...I have been to San Pedro Belize 5 times, I have given Drift Inn my business 4 out of the 5 and it was a mistake to go somewhere other than the Drift Inn!
It has a very local and community vibe surrounding the complex. For instance, you park your golf cart right on the beach, walk through the Sandbar bar and grill restaurant, which is equally as awesome, then through a coded gate and straight into the communal kitchen and bathrooms. We stay in the single rooms that have comfortable and clean beds and a private bathroom with shower. Staying here allows you to walk in either direction and hit the beautiful beach front, with several docks to explore. Those docks are where most tour companies will pick you up from. If you go inland, then you are smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Belizian culture.
This place has everything my heart desires and it deserves to be praised. Not to mention, the price you pay is amazing for what you get and it's definitely a diamond in the rough!
- Susan (10/5): Great location, friendly staff - Nice funky little hotel, our room was clean and spacious, and the staff was very friendly.
- Joann (8/5): - A basic room for a good price. Clean and good A/C. Located well, very safe area in town.
- Anita (8/5): Decent stay - The hotel wasnt bad. There was a lot of furniture in the room. A dresser, a desk, night stands, a chair, another side table next to the desk, a counter. It was a lot for the room which also had a king bed. Because there is a lot of calcium in the water you see the buildup on the shower handles. The air condition turned off every hour even if youre in the room before 9pm. After 9pm it remained on until 9am then shut off. Had a power outage while i was there but power was restored within a couple of hours. Front desk was very helpful and plesant. Not a bad stay for the price.
- Luis (10/5): - Stefanie (and all the staff) was very friendly! Made me feel right at home. Good prices, good location and good bedroom
- RICKEY (8/5): - Great hostel for the price
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place to stay on a budget. Staff was super nice and helpful our entire stay. Close to the beach, but enough distance to avoid late night tourist shenanigans. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to San Pedro.
- Wayne (10/5): - Drift Inn was perfect for our needs. The staff were very good and friendly. The free coffee and water were appreciated. A private balcony and courtyard were very good for relaxing. Although their pool is small, the use of the pool at the Sandbar Hotel next door was superb. The Sandbar also had a very good restaurant. Proximity to a snorkeling excursion and shopping rounded out our experience. We will stay here next time we are in San Pedro.
- Dick (10/5): - Liked the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. And willingly helped us with many reservations.
- Mary (10/5): - The staff were so helpful and interesting, wonderful people! They made the stay so memorable!
- Felix (10/5): - staff was so friendly, I would definetely consider staying here again. Location was great too
- Jean (10/5): - Fantastic service, great facilities, centrally located. Staff was extremely helpful.
- Bart (8/5): - Very friendly and social, the staff and the guest. Location is right in San Pedro on the beach.
Extremely noisy will not be able to sleep past 7:00 a.m.
Location was very secure, I booked it for $45 to travelosity it ended up costing $65 a night.
I was charged more money when I got there.... So expect that.
- Ebony (10/5): - As a solo traveler to San Pedro Belize, the Drift Inn met and exceeded all my expectations. I felt very safe and welcome. The check in process was smooth and I stayed a total of seven days. The room was clean and the shower was hot. There were plenty of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. I would highly recommend this property to all travelers!!
- Megan (10/5): Wonderful stay - Excellent! The staff were exceptional, very helpful and friendly and the entire property was clean. The location was very convenient as multiple dive shops and restaurants were less than a five minute walk. It is also conveniently located to the water taxi dock - only a 10 minute walk. We would definitely stay again.
- David (10/5): - Clean, nice rooms, friendly staff.
- Bibi (8/5): - I really enjoyed my stay. I celebrated my birthday and the front desk helped me book a sunset sail to celebrate. She also gave me directions when I wanted to donate some of my clothes.
- Amanda (8/5): - It was our first time to San Pedro and I'm glad Drift Inn was our first stop. It was very central to shops, (literally a store is less then half a block away), walking around the town, to restaurants and within walking distance from both the airport and the water taxi. The property was gated at night so we felt safe. The attached hostel where you could use the amenities had some of the best food and you could also use their pool. The restaurant across the street on the water you could go down in the water. That was pretty cool.
Cons. The bed was hard. and their neighbors have dogs that bark all night and a rooster who starts his rounds at 4am. Which that can't be helped. The seaweed has gotten pretty bad which google said is pretty normal and they are working on ways to convert it in a eco friendly way! I love that!
Honestly 9/10, I would recommend the Drift Inn to all me friends.
- George (10/5): - Nice place with pleasant staff close to beach and Sand Bar restaurant .
- eric (10/5): - The property was clean, it is in the perfect location in town. Everything you needs is less than a 10 minute walk away. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay great.
- Scott (10/5): - Great people!! Awesome place!! The restaurant has some of the best food I’ve had.
- Miriam (8/5): Digital Nomad friendly - The staff was so kind. Wifi worked perfectly for work calls. Hot water and AC worked great the whole time. Location made it easily to get to restaurants and bars.
- Mark (10/5): - Great place. Great location.
- Donovan Donald (10/5): - Good rooms. Nice hot water. Very nice staff.
- james (10/5): - Awesome place to stay, right off the beach, clean, great staff, I will stay there again!!
- Bryan (8/5): - Everything a person would need for an island room. The lodge next door is handy for it’s bar and beachfront location.
- Stephanie (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - I really enjoyed my stay at the Drift Inn. The room was spacious and the a/c was amazing. It was conveniently located next to the beach and an easy walk to restaurants and activities. The staff was very friendly and happy to help answer any questions and even set up a taxi for me. The shared kitchen is an added bonus.
- Arthur James (10/5): - Nothing not to like. Very friendly staff. Nice rooms.
- jennifer (10/5): Amazing front desk. - The front desk person, Stephanie, waa phenomenal. She arranged excersions for us, the golf cart, covid tests, and made sure we had everything we needed.
- jerry (10/5): - The Driff Inn not only met my expectations, but exceed them. I would highly recommend the Driff Inn for your stay in San Pedro. Don't let the word hostel influence your choice. I already know when I come back it is where I'll stay. And to go on further, the Driff Inn had more adminities than the hotel I stayed at next. So yes, this is the place to stay at while in San Pedro!
- Leslie (8/5): - Loved the location of this property. It was close to town and was walking distance to most places. The staff was excellent.
The one downfall was the neighbors barking dog early in the morning.
- Justine Van (10/5): - Staying at Drift Inn was one of the best experiences I have had. The staff is absolutely amazing and the location cannot be beat.
We will be coming back soon!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Location, Charm and Care - Loved the location (next to the sea and all conveniences), care and helpfulness of the staff (who called me ahead of time before my arrival, waited for my late arrival, and arranged my transportation), felt safe (coded gate and location), and the comfort and sweet beauty (charming, quaint, colorful design and murals).
- Mary (10/5): - Cute not too small and the rooms were a great size. Had a mini refrigerator and a communale kitchen downstairs. There was a microwave outside in the hallway easy to acess for a late might snack. Walking distance to the beach was awesome and to the local grocery store
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exactly as expected based on prior reviews submitted.
- byron (6/5): I Like the staff very Much! - The bed was good but the blanket was terrible. I brought my own thankfully. No sink in the bathroom. No TV. Good fridge and coffee maker. Ac was good. Restaurant makes very good food except I got an order of fries that was cold and like rubber. I should not have yelled at the kitchen man. Tell him I am sorry.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I don't know where to start for how amazing Drift Inn was for us. The rooms are spacious and clean, we had our own mini-fridge and access to the community kitchen. We got daily text messages about what was going on at different bars and the desk staff was very knowledgeable and helpful, they even arranged a golf cart for us to use for a day. We were given great suggestions for local places to eat that did not disappoint. We happened to meet Hailey on our first night in town as we chatted up an Ex-Pat and we often ran into her during our stay, she was always friendly and offered more suggestions for us. The level of customer service was beyond amazing. Our AC unit was serviced one afternoon, and it worked fine. Then two nights later it just stopped working. It was miserable and hot and just awful. When we saw Hailey in the morning, we told her what happened and she immediately offered us a different room. I was ready to move, we had to pack up anyway as we had one last night there, my husband who didn't sleep well at all either didn't want to bother her with a different room since we only had one night left. Hailey even told us we could have called her that night to move rooms....it wasn't an issue at all. I am so very happy we moved, I think we all travel better with a good night's sleep and it was perfect. She has such a great staff, I appreciated being greeted each day and how friendly everyone was. Jay was our favorite, always happy, always helpful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was not as advertised the owner was not help full when I needed help. No phones, room had no place to hang up a towel, beds were very uncomfortable, no running cold water at sink. Had to walk thru adjoining property bar to get to beach. Basically property should be advertised as a hostel for young single travelers willing to sleep on hard uncomfortable beds with little or no amenities and no necessities that most properties provide, like soap or shampoo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a private room. You couldn’t as for a better location as a traveler.. central to San Pedro for food/drink/tours, next to the beach/beach road, and a homebase with their own lounge bar (owned by partner hostel). We had our own bathroom, mini-fridge, closet for hanging wet clothes. The beds were a little thin. They were experimenting with the A/C while we were there but it works great. Super nice and go-out-of-their-way helpful staff. We had an overbooking issue, they upgraded us before Expedia could resolve it. Everything’s eco-friendly and COVID safe. Spend your money on food and snorkeling, not some resort with inflated prices and mediocre food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a sister establishment with Sand Bar which is next door and connected to Drift Inn. Room was spacious with AC and hot running water.
- Kris (10/5): Reserve a room, NOW! - Simply Fantastic! My girlfriend and I (I'm early 40's and she's early 30's) were a little worried at first because it was a hostel, so we thought it might be a noisy or wild crowd, but we decided to chance it. We are so glad we took a small chance and booked here. The other guests were fantastic, ranging from couples/families on vacation, to solo business types and younger people looking for an affordable place to stay. Everyone was friendly and accomadating from the other guests to the people who worked there. We stayed in a private queen room which had a private bath, and it was worth more than what we paid. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. If you're looking for 5 star living, this isn't it. But if you are looking for clean, reasonably spacious and well maintained place to secure your stuff, take a hot shower and lay your head, do not hestitate. The location is perfect! You can walk everywhere in town in about 10-15 minutes so you don't "need" a golf cart to get around (although I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a $5 taxi to/from the airport or ferry). It's literally on the beach and has it's own dock where you can lay out or relax. It is also directly behind the Sand Bar Inn which has amazing food and drinks, which is super handy. It's also a 2 minute walk to the Palapa Bar which also has great food and a fun atmosphere. When we go back to San Pedro this is DEFINITELY where we will stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic staff! Hotel rooms were both very clean. Even got my coffee pot up-sized! The 2 motels put on a Christmas Dinner for all the guests with all the fixings! Our thanks to Haily and staff!
