Guest Reviews
- kevin (10/5): - cabin was perfect for a few days. food options were good at both locations, great speciality cocktails and wine list. perfect location just outside the park.
- Sue (6/5): - Nice basic room but expensive. Walls were not soundproof. Heater was on the wall right by the bed so the person on that side got full heat.
- Fred (10/5): - Great location close to Lassen. Restaurant was excellent and room was clean and comfortable, would stayed there again.
- Brett (10/5): - Very convenient for those spending time in Lassen National Park. Also a very nice place, with an especially gorgeous lodge and restaurant that had good food. The room was also very nice.
Only drawback was that there was no wi-fi in the room, only in the lodge. I get that no one should be coming all the way out here and spending a bunch of time on the internet in their hotel room, but it would have been nice to have for an hour before going to sleep.
Still, I'd highly recommend this place spending time in Lassen. It looked nicer than the places in Chester, which is the nearest town, and is probably 20 minutes closer to the park.
- Angela (10/5): - Clean room. Excellent restaurant. Very near Lassen Volcanic National Park.
- Michelle or Steve (10/5): - Late check in and keys were in box where indicated. Room was clean and comfortable. Good pressure and hot water for showers. Ate at restaurant. Great menu.
- Todd (10/5): - Great location when visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park.
- Catherine (10/5): - We wanted to be south of Lassen NP, so our options were limited. The charge for the property was overpriced for the amount of space one had. The linens were lovely. Pillows were good. The restaurant was a lovely place and staff were great, but they were short-handed and we didn’t get our food for an hour and fifteen minutes after we ordered and then it was cold!!
- Chantelle (10/5): - Checked in late and out early but sits on a gorgeous property and the stars are amazing at night. The room was clean and functional. Very detailed instructions for check in and the limited amenities in the area with hours. Excellent communication.
- Robert (8/5): - Adequate motel but no cell or Wi-Fi sucked. Limited Wi-Fi at restuarant but it depended on what table you sat at. Restaurant was really the only plus at this place.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Restaurant in their property across the street is wonderful
- Doug (6/5): Great location but needs more care - We had trouble finding someone to give us our room key when we arrived at 8p. It wasnt in the lock box, as promised. We could find anywhere to buy a bottle of water, either at 8:30p after arrival, not in the morning until after 9a. The bathrooms are pretty cold and stark. The restaurant has a charming look, but the food was subpar. The experience didnt justify the price. Its purely a location play that doesnt suck.
- Margaret (10/5): - Nice place, would stay again. Though no internet at our room it was accessible nearby
- Bruce (8/5): - Clean rooms, friendly staff, conveniently located by Lassen NP.
- Mimi (8/5): - What a beautiful setting!!
The staff is so helpful and friendly😊
- Kelly (2/5): - Property looks great but most of the things you’d want in a hotel/motel didn’t work. The remote control batteries were dead so we replaced them with our own. Turns out the remote itself wasn’t really working and the satellite kept crashing so the Rv didn’t work. There was no wifi option, which was deceiving in the listing. Also the hair dryer didn’t work. There was no way to contact anyone after 6pm so we couldn’t get any of these issues resolved. The price was wayyyyyyy too high for what we got. Really disappointed in this place
- ChunMei (6/5): - We stayed at the “ranch” side, not the resort side. It was ok, but not clearly specified during the time of booking. The room has a strange unpleasant smell, also the wall is thin and e can hear others in the next unit.
- Laura (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay for a Lassen NP visit
- Pegeen (10/5): Perfect location - Great location for our trip. Restaurant across the street was excellent!
- Susan (6/5): Great Location but Lacks Basic Amenities - Stopped here for two nights while we visited Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Good: super close to the park, beautiful location, very clean and new, snack bar and store on the property, extremely friendly staff. The Not So Good: rooms are very sparse, nowhere to put your clothes or bathroom items, no ac, wifi only available in the restaurant across the street. The price seemed out of step with the lack of amenities. They also really promote the restaurant at the lodge across the street. We live in the Bay so are used to paying a lot to eat out. Our food was good, but it was super hot in the restaurant (also no ac) and it felt pricy for the portion size and what we ate. I am not sure we would stay here again unless they do some upgrading to match the cost.
- Wenda (4/5): Overpriced motel - For the price of the room, you would expect a few basic amenities such as wifi. No ac, no breakfast. Road noise. Pretty bare bones. A more fair price would have been $90 for a room.
- Olga (10/5): - Wonderful place!
- Stephanie (10/5): - The motel unit was small but had been nicely renovated with quality bedding, nice tile, etc. Great for 2 people. Had space outdoors for relaxing (I flew my kites). Easy parking. Ate at restaurant across street (part of the Village) and food was excellent.
- Gail (10/5): Highly Recommend - Great place to stay if you are visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park.
- Robert (10/5): - No AC or wifi. Dining options are limited. Room was very clean and nice. Area is remote and quiet. No breakfast included with room.
- John (8/5): - Our room in "The Village" was basic but clean and modern and the staff was friendly and helpful. The check-in process was a bit confusing because there was no exterior signage so we went to the store. In the door window of the store was a sign that said to go across the street, so we did, but they turned around and sent us back to the store. A clear place to check-in would be appreciated.
- Ratna K (10/5): - Property was very clean and check in was pretty easy. Best part was, it’s about 15 mins from Lassen South Gate. The only issue is the walls were so thin and we have noisy neighbors. We were trying to sleep as our plan was to go on hike at 6 am but could not sleep 😢 It would be a good idea to mention about keeping the voices low after a certain time.
- Xiangzhen (4/5): - Beautiful ranch. But No WiFi in the room.
- Lanlan (10/5): - Nice quiet place
- Chenchao (4/5): - Never been to a motel with no lobby or where no staff is available. Our room had no shampoo or body wash left when we arrived and we left messages to a call answering center with no one responding to provide body wash and shampoo after a long day of hiking. Very disappointed to stay at a motel with no basic amenities such as shampoo or body wash despite charging about $300/night for the stay.
- Henry (6/5): - It is a motel with cow mooing sound in the night.
- Matthew (10/5): - The rooms were recently renovated and very clean. The property is in a very serene spot and has gorgeous scenic views surrounding it.
- Marc (10/5): - The property was very nice
- Carol (8/5): - beautiful views.
Disliked Room #1 as far as noise level, due to all the equipment outside the room. Fans, pumps, etc. I would return but not stay in Room #1 in The Village Inn.
- Scott (10/5): - Our room in the village was great. The service in the Lodge & restaurant was superb.
- Yash (4/5): - No wifi password was provided the property and no way to contact them for this after check in past reception timing.
- Valerie (8/5): - Be aware there is no internet at “the villages” , no ice and no way to communicate with a desk after 6 pm. The lodge was lovely, good food, and “the cottages” look good. The Villages is 100 yards from the main property
- Samantha (8/5): - Convenient to Lassen Volcanic NP south entrance, but nothing else is around except this row of rooms & cabins behind them, a mercantile, then their restaurant with front office across the street. The front office is not labeled so several of us went into the restaurant and got redirected to the side. Check in did not take a credit card for incidentals (maybe because I paid via Expedia?). The restaurant is big and very nice. Food was OK, but not worth the price, in my opinion, however maybe it’s the distance and cost of getting food supplies, so the nice ambience makes up for the price? Service was great too, which was a plus. Parking lines were very faded everywhere. Room was very basic and pretty worn, especially the hardwood floors, with a smell I couldn’t place (maybe wet wood?). It snowed before our arrival (first week of April) and there wasn’t a bathroom window cover, just frosted glass. The bathroom tile floor was super cold, but the water heated up nicely and so did the room. Overall, the room served its purpose, a simple place to sleep when visiting Lassen. I got the cheapest option with 2 queens. Side note: About 35-40 minutes south on Hwy 32, a bear was galloping down the hill and crossed the highway in front of us! He never looked back, was going at maybe a 120 degree angle, then dropped out of sight down the hill on the right. Highlight of our trip!
- Samuel (10/5): - Beautiful
- adriena (10/5): - Very simple, comfortable, easy-to-use.
- Swati (10/5): Peaceful and charming! - Our stay at the Village Highlands Ranch was great. We got there after dark, but had no trouble finding the place. It’s well lit. Check in was a breeze. Rooms are cleaned and beds made every day. There’s a spot for a bonfire; a great way to connect with other guests. Great location; very close to Lassen National. We had a great time. Will stay here again.
- Ali (10/5): - Great experience overall.
- Darwin (10/5): - I loved thia place. It was so quiet, and felt safe. My child was running all around the place and enjoyed it very much. The manager Kary (not sure if her name is spelled like that) and Dana were amazing and very friendly.
- Steve (10/5): - I made a mistake with my reservation. Expedia was not able to help me, so I contacted the property directly and spoke with the manager, Kari. She was wonderful and adjusted my reservation personally. All ended well because of Kari!
- Laura (8/5): - We stayed in the motel section, a little too close to the road noise. Next time will pick the nicer cabins. The restaurant made up for this as the dining and bar options were amazing! Roth it just for the restaurant.
- Treanna (10/5): - The location was convenient for a visit to Lassen. We had dinner at the Highlands Ranch Restaurant which was delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience and we'd delicious go back.
- Michael (10/5): - Very convenient to Lassen Park. Bistro on the property and restaurant across the street had good food and friendly staff. Both great places to relax and have dinner after hiking.
- Glenjohn (10/5): - Nice play where its located. Friendly staff and the restaurant across the street was delicious.
- Mark Joseph (6/5): - I gave 3 stars because it wasn't noted that they don't have wifi. It's a dead spot and for them not having any wifi it was inconvenient.
- Tao (10/5): - Safe, clean, quiet. Front yard is great to have some fun activities.
- Christopher (6/5): - It was expensive. Food was OK.
- Barbara (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Cottage was pricey but worth it. The food was excellent! Staff - all - were so friendly and helpful.
- David (8/5): - Everything was great. Would have liked AC. Shower was great. Very remote and quiet.
- Robert (10/5): - Restaurant at the Ranch was amazing. Great service and great food!
- Tavin (8/5): - While the room was great, the WiFi was only up at the little store and even then very unreliable and more often than not completely nonexistent.
- Jill (10/5): - Room was very nice and clean.
- Gary (10/5): - the motel has been updated. Its high priced but that is to be expected in todays world and also the location is far from anywhere. The dining was excellent and the help was the best. I don't thing you can go wrong. A great way to to go the Park..
- Judy (8/5): Enjoy the gorgeous views - This is an updated oasis in a really beautiful location. Staff is very friendly, rooms very clean, beds comfortable with nice linens. Signage could be a bit better, but this is a fairly remote spot, and one needs to roll with things.
- Dale (10/5): - Great food and people are super friendly….
- jennifer (10/5): Great find - Highlands is a gorgeous property. They have more luxurious rooms on one side of the road with the restaurant. We stayed other side of the road at the Village at the highlands. Simple but well appointed. Great for our 1 night stay. A few minutes drive to Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park. The restaurant was 5 star. Delicious, make a reservation. Staff was awesome.
- Thomas (10/5): LASSEN park lodging - Great staff friendly, helpful. If you are going to LASSEN NP be sure to check if roads are open …. Even early June roads were closed due to snow! Highlands is right on the doorstep to the park great location, excellent dining.
- Sherry (10/5): - Very clean! The restaurant across the street was excellent! It was nice to have a drink at Frank’s and be able to walk back to our room. We were there to see Lassen Volcanic National Park and it was less than a 15 minute drive. Great place to stay!
- Thai (8/5): - No wifi. The heater is too close to the bed making it extremely hot for the person lying close to it.
- Vaune (10/5): - Easy access to the park
- Remy (8/5): - It's a great location close to the entrance for Lassen.
The property has an EV charger, which is great but you have to bring your own charger.
- DiAnne (6/5): Great location - Our stay was a mixed bag. The location was great since we planned to visit Mt. Lassen both days. We loved the food at the restaurant across the street. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice as well. Here's what made the stay less than adequate. No internet. A tv that seemed to require internet since it couldn't get a satellite signal while we were there. A questionable heating system (either on or off, nothing in-between), no heat in the bathroom (good ventilation though), very thin walls ( we could hear the person in the next room snoring), and no information about who to contact regarding problems while we were there. Can I suggest some time of info card/booklet in the rooms outlining how things work, etc, since we had no way to look this up without internet access? We enjoyed our stay but not sure the overall value was reasonable.
- MOJGAN (10/5): - We had a very pleasant experience. Clean room, nicely remodeled bathroom, comfortable bed and clean bedding. Easy check in and out. Close to Lassen NP. Restaurant across the street was good with nice service. Don’t miss to look at the night sky from behind the building. Priced reasonably. Definitely recommend it.
- Cord (10/5): - We were heading up to hike Lassen Peak and this had everything we needed. Electricity for the car, clean and nice room for a reasonable price and good food at the bar. We did not partake of the fine dining. Maybe next time.
- Lynn J. (6/5): - The people staying in the unit next to ours where loud and unruly. The unit we stayed in needed some pest control. My wife killed multiple spiders in our room.
- Tony (10/5): - Wonderful location and great amenities
- Jacob (10/5): - Great location close to Lassen Volcano NP. Room was renovated, clean, and great view of the valley. Restaurant close walk across the street and great food. Friendly staff, would stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Two night stay while seeing Lassen Volcanic National Park. Room was clean and had hot water for the shower. Excellent food at restaurant across the room.
- Nancy (10/5): - The room, tv were great. Would have liked to have had Wi-Fi .
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
friendly, courteous staff; great location, fantastic restaurant and bar on the premises.
- John (8/5): - Very close to the south entrance of Lassen Volcanic NP! Beds were comfortable and bathroom/shower were updated and modern. Late check-in was easy with key left in coded mailbox.
- Erica (10/5): - A beautiful place with a fantastic location near Lassen Volcanic. Food options in the area are extremely limited so make.sure to bring groceries along. Wifi is actually only available as a hotspot at the store and cell service was limited, so it's a bit of an unplugged trip, but that was fine for us
- Elizabeth (8/5): - By the freeway
- Mitch (6/5): - The property is in a very scenic location near Lassen Volcanic National Park. The view from the property is gorgeous. However, amenities are very limited. There are only a few breakfast options and a small convenience store. There's no Internet in the rooms and no cellular service. The convenience store does have WiFi, but it's so slow that it's barely useable. Lack of connectivity might be a plus to some people, but I wasn't camping--when I stay in a motel I expect more amenities. Also, my room had several mosquitoes in it, as well as a few other insects.
- Anna (10/5): - Convenient to Lassen Volcanic Park. Rooms were clean and in excellent condition! Check- in was easy and staff was friendly and helpful. Two great food options within walking distance. One option, a little more upscale than the other. We ate at the more casual option with an outside sitting area. It was delicious! Will stay there again if we visit the area!
- Rebekah (10/5): - Wish we had stayed longer than just one night. Beautiful valley. Very relaxing. Enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs and watching the sun set behind the mountains. Store was well stocked and food at the bar/cafe was delicious. Only 10 minutes to Lassen National Park. Will definitely visit again.
- Joanne marie (10/5): - The place was clean and the people are nice and friendly
- Mary (10/5): - The Village at Highlands Ranch is modern, clean and a general store, a small outdoor restaurant. Across the street from the hotel is a very nice dinner house also owned by the Highlands Ranch company. The hotel has no air conditioning but you can open the windows for fresh air and the room has a ceiling fan. There is a heater in the room which I am sure would be used during the winter months. The have 2 chairs sitting outside for your room to use. I noticed they have a nice size firepit outside also for guests to use.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a misleading way of representing “The Village at Highlands” it implies a standard of Highlands Ranch, in fact it’s a “sister” property and not the standard you’d expect for $240 /night. It is the closest accommodation to Lassen and I guess that’s the reason.
- Alberto (10/5): - The property was clean, comfortable, with easy access to unit, parking and restaurant. Staff was friendly, professional and provided quick service. Great experience that I will recommend to friends and family.
- Darlene (10/5): - Beautiful place and location. Love sitting on the deck and hearing the seals squawking. Awesome!!
- Aditya (10/5): - Staff was very helpful. However it was difficult after office hours.
- Sudhirkumar (4/5): - No wifi in the hotels even when they say wifi on property. And there is no cellular connectivity.
- jesse (10/5): - Beautiful views. Friendly staff
- troy (10/5): Absolutely wonderful! - 10 of 10. Luxurious. Classy mountian lodge with a delicous gourmet restaurant.
Highly recommended.
- Scott (10/5): Peaceful - We had a great room overlooking a meadow, very quiet and peaceful and we saw many many stars from there.
- Petra (10/5): - It was for sure not that high end like at the Highland Ranch Resort across the street… but less expensive (though still quite pricy for a motel… probably because there is not a lot of lodging available in this area). But we could go for dinner to the restaurant at the Resort where we loved the food and atmosphere.
- Miguel (10/5): - The view of the forest was beautiful. Driving to National Park was under 10 miles. We ate at Franks for lunch and Highlands restaurant for dinner. We also went horse back riding , which is also on the property.
- Geraldine (2/5): - The restaurant was great. The property was not what anybody would consider a resort!!! I was more like Motel 6 but the price of $300 was more like a resort. A complete ripoff. No AC and no Wifi and a barebones room.
- Amber (10/5): - The Property and view was gorgeous! They were very accommodating and the room was very clean. The restaurant across the street was delicious. Our stay was excellent!
- Tim (8/5): Good location to LVNP - It was about 15 minutes from Lassen Volcano NP , clean and comfortable. There is no signal or Wi-Fi so be prepared to be off the grid here.
They will send you a link for the restaurant across the street. It was excellent but I would definitely recommend bringing groceries along because there isn’t very much else in the vicinity!
- Huiya (10/5): - I love this little cute motel. I was looking for places close to Lessen Park and found this place. It has everything I need to be self sufficient without need to find a restaurant or coffee place. The room is recently remodeled and I really like the way the bathroom and the flooring is done. Very neat. Parking is great. I parked right in front of my room like everyone else did. The place is in the middle of a big meadow and the view is magnificent. It is a perfect escape from city lights and noise. I will definitely come again.
- Sondra (10/5): - Love this place. Rooms so clean and comfortable! The decor was perfect for the natural outdoor setting.
- Pamela (10/5): - Mountain get away! Lovely dinner with our daughter who works up here
- Dan (10/5): - Friendly staff. Good dining across the street. Beautiful mountain setting. Will be interesting to see the forest heal over the next several years. Some was burned by the Dixie fire, some was spared. Some investment is happening. A new restaurant and bar should open in May.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was under mandatory evacuation due t fires. They personally called us from their home to let us know that we could not come. Fully refunded us.
