Guest Reviews
- moreno (10/5): - Personale gentile e disponibile residenza antica ma molto carina.
Ottima colazione
Schade!
- Giovanni (10/5): -

Stanza molto ampia. Colazione buona. WI-FI ok. Condizionatore a pompa di calore rumoroso.
- Gino (10/5): - Esperienza semplicemente fantastica!

- Mackenzie (6/5): Hidden place hidden costs - The room was good and the building had some good history. Hard to find and there was a hidden cost for parking the car. I was also asked to depart at 8.00am, I negotiated to 9.30am.
- Martino Antonio (9/5): -
- Travelling (10/5): Wonderful place in the middle of old Viterbo! - To start with, the location is not only excellent (right in the middle of historical Viterbo, walking distance to most things), but you also have parking inside (and space for normal-sized cars too), which can be a life saver when travelling by car. Nice (and very clean) room, and for a very reasonable price (have been to city accommodations half as good for twice the price). Also provided disposable indoor slippers, which is instantly a +1. Lastly, can mention that the owner also has a nearby restaurant (c. 2min walk), called La Chimera, which I can strongly recommend. I do not normally give 10/10 unless very deserving, i.e. going above and beyond, but this place deserves it. The host cannot speak much English, but make it up through effort and enthusiasm, so you will still understand in the end (with or without Google translate). Breakfast was ok, but almost only sweets, so some less sugary stuff as well could be good. Some of the toiletries just lasted, so not a big issue, but if providing more then would not have to ration. Can also be a bit difficult to find (more so since some streets are currently closed-off due to construction).
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leigh (10/5): A nice relaxing weekend, with no problems. - The position is fantastic, right in the centre, once you have parked your car in the garage, you can visit the whole historic centre on foot. Palazzo Riario is a very old building, 16th century, I think, but it was very comfortable, warm, we were there in November, full of character. Senor Renato was incredibly helpful with directions, helping with luggage, taking care of the car etc. The breakfast was very good, typically Italian with fresh cornetti , crostata , ciambellone and yogurt etc., the coffe is very good , we didn't go hungry. We also suggest going to Renato's Restaurant, excellent!!! Nothing
- Ozlenen (10/5): Wonderful location and accommodation with a warm welcome -
- Périn (10/5): Excellent - Thé location is very central in a small road so very quiet. The room was fine, the breakfast excellent with handmade pastries. The landlord Renato is amazing. Always available.
- Jose (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giorgia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anette (10/5): Fantastic - Most beautiful place
Very friendly

- Nina (9/5): Very nice palazzo! -
- dancelikedaviddanced (2/5): Find another Hotel - Good & Bad. One night only September 5th. Typical room for a three star hotel. Not a lot of restaurant choice’s nearby. Not sure if Renato is the owner, but seems a one man operation. He recommended a pizza place about a five minute walk. The pizza, salad & wine was excellent. We were surprised to find Renato working at the pizza restaurant. After breakfast the next morning which was fine, we mentioned we only had one large bath towel. Renato came to our room, looked around and said “ not possible”. I told he we did not take his towel and he could check our luggage. Renato kept repeating “no possible “. We had to pay him 20 euros. TERRIBLE shake down for money. We are Marriott Lifetime Elite Titanium, legit travelers. On a self guided bike tour is the only reason we stayed at this awful place.
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Lorenzo (9/5): Superb -
- Adriana (7/5): It's a good choice : good value! - The Location and the staff.
You are close to the principal places in Viterbo! The owner is very kind. I didn't like the breakfast.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Valentina (10/5): Exceptional - Great value for money, kind and friendly host, warm welcome
- Maria (10/5): Great place, will definitely come again and recommend to my friends - Beautiful palazzo, cozy, well equipped room, well heated (in winter it is very important). Host Renato was very friendly and efficient. Good location, easy to find, close to all places of interest. Renato runs an excellent restaurant Chimera also nearby.
- bhdiamond2 (10/5): Charming medieval palazzo - We stayed here October 20th as our one-night stop in Viterbo on the Via Francigena walk to Rome. It’s charm is that it is a 14th century palace and does not look like a hotel from the outside. Our room was very comfortable and the proprietor very genial. After walking that day from Montefiascone , we were ready for a hearty dinner. The owner recommended La Chimera, which he also owns and was just a short walk away. The restaurant was charming with a grotto-like atmosphere and the food was great. As others have mentioned, there is a steep flight of stairs from the exterior door to the lobby, but the accommodation was well with the climb.
- Marco (8/5): Gita a Viterbo - Esperienza piacevole.
Ottima accoglienza....consiglio il ristorante La Chimera!!!....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location. Very close to major attractions and to public parking. The service provided by Renato was outstanding.
- Alessandro (10/5): Ottimo. Grazie Renato!
- fabio ottorino (10/5): posto super consigliato - Location bellissima e rimessa a nuovo in maniera ottima.
- Whitfield (8/5): An interesting location - An interesting experience as the hotel is in old part of the town and a challenging to find
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Il gestore è incredibilmente efficiente e disponibile, forse il migliore visto finora.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tutto OK. Proprietario Gentilissimo e disponibilissimo
Assolutamente consigliabile.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place in a beautiful town. Friendly staff. Clean.
- Nana_JP (8/5): Great location - Right in the old city center and close walking distance to everything you want to see. Rooms are basic but clean and the beds comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are stairs to climb to get into the BnB.
- Chris (10/5): - This property is wonderful!! Rinallo is the owner and he is fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Grazioso b&b in pieno centro, colaxione opzionale, molto comodo garage
- Verified traveler (8/5): Una notte a palazzo Riario - Ospitalità, cortesia e professionalità, ottima l'accoglienza, ambiente pulito e confortevole, ci tornerei
- N4770KGnatalier (8/5): Unique Medievil Lodging - Part hotel, part BnB, but certainly unique. Built right into the interior of an original medieval house/palace. Centrally located in the middle of the ancient town though initially hard to find the entrance. Rooms with character, ours with a canopied bed and the bathroom up on a lofted level. Continental breakfast was included (not hot).
- vjb1968 (8/5): Review of March 19 – 22, 2018 stay - I stayed at Palazzo Riario from March 19 – 22, 2018.
I saw on some reviews that it was hard to find but I did not find that to the case. I walked from the train station (Viterbo Porta Romana) which is about 1/2 mile/700 m away. There are only 3 turns (2 once inside the walls). I had checked a map beforehand, used Googlemap streetview, written down the directions, etc. I guess if the other reviewers did not mention that they found it hard to find I would not have done that and I would now be writing that it was hard to find.
Once you get towards the end of Via della Torre you just have to turn the corner and find the door. I will admit that once at the door, I was not sure it was the right one since it did not open. However, you need to ring the bell – it is not like a regular hotel where you walk in the door. At least not during March – not sure about high season. Anyway, I rang the bell and was let in by the gentleman who worked there. He showed me in and explained how to get in the hotel and the room with my room card, how to use the heater, lights, etc. I think I might have been the only guest; I saw him twice more during my three night stay and did not see anyone else.
I had booked a single room but I think I got a bigger one since it was off season. It was bigger than other singles I have had in Italy. I did not opt to have the breakfast at the hotel. The room was clean and large enough for me. One of the light fixtures needed to be repaired but I left a note for that so hopefully it was fixed by now. It is in a great location, though I think the anywhere in town would be a great location. You do need to walk up two flights of stairs inside the hotel to get to the lobby. I do not know if there is an elevator but if you need one, you had best inquire about it before booking.
I would stay there again if I were to visit Viterbo. It is really a great little town.
- 759PatrickG759 (8/5): Ice cubes fall from heaven - Through a thunderstorm and a cold rain of ice cube thick hale, we managed to find this Palazzo in Viterbo. The receptionist was quick and very effective. Rooms good: no complaints. During a hike, these hotels are more than convenient for one night's stay. Very good neighbourhood too.
