Guest Reviews
- peter (8/5): Good value central hotel - For the price this is a good value centrally located bed for the night.
Don't expect any luxury - the shower is small, and antiquated and breakfast is a wrapped croissant and a carton of juice. It is ideal for a one night stay if you are arriving late.
For the £s it is still good value - you will struggle to find any other hotel for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Budget hotel,ok for an overnight stay ,the location was great 5mins from Oxford Circus, the gentleman who met me and showed me to my room was very polite & helpful
- Pirkko (8/5): Hinta-laatusuhde kohdallaan - Jo aikaa nähnyt hotelli, siisti. Talvella hieman viileä huone. Hyvä vuode, lämmin untuvapeite. Aamiainen sisälsi huoneeseen tuodut : vedenkeitin, kupit, neskahvi/tee, banaani, suolapähkinöitä, siemenpatukka ja suklaacroisant. Jääkaapissa taisi olla mehuakin. Pieni avo WC suihkuineen.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No heating at night - The heater was timed to be switched off from 11:30pm to 6:30am which was the coldest time of the day. Difficult to sleep in such coldness. The window is not double glazed. You can hear people talking from the street.
- hendrikus (8/5): Palladium concert - Very friendly owner, room fine, breakfast okish
- MazB (6/5): - Basic facilities at a budget price in the heart of London than this is a good Hotel. The hotel is in a quiet street for London. Remember it is cash on arrival. Fortunately the lady rang the day before to confirm arrival time & reminded me.
The welcome was good & the lady helped me carry my luggage up to the first floor. It’s an old building with v high ceilings. This meant the narrow staircase is VERY steep. She explained everything you needed to know.
The shower room is fine. It had everything you needed, inc shampoo, soap if you have forgotten your own. But it is a wetroom & the spray from the shower will wet the toilet seat. Just dry it off & wear shoes after a shower.
The bed was very comfortable. I went late Autumn & the heating is set centrally to come on am & pm. You cannot adjust it in your room. You can open a window slightly if needed. Over the 2 nights I stayed, I opened for a short time once.
The continental breakfast is packaged croissants, small fruit juices, tea & coffee. Which was fine, just know this is what is included. Many slightly dearer hotels didn’t include any breakfast.
Would I stay again–if only had a small case–yes. Heavy case-possibly not. I was a tad concerned about bringing it back down the steep staircase. My solution- unpack my items into 3 large carrier bags carry those down separately then the case & repack at the bottom of the stairs. That worked fine, just different. I am close to retirement age. If younger the stairs wouldn’t be a concern.
- Helt ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Could do with a good clean but apart from that it was good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is in an excellent location but the room is very small and basic, although it was clean and functional. Perfectly acceptable for a night or two but I would find it too claustrophobic for any longer
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine for the price - It was fine for the price. Although quoting a breakfast included is not strictly true. Snacks in plastic bags is not a breakfast. However, a comfortable bed for the price was fine.
- Elena (10/5): Cosy and small house. - This small hotel is very good situated and not expensive. But no conditional air available, what a pity!
- Stine (10/5): Betaling kontant - Husk at betalingen opkræves kontant.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No bathroom door - Bathroom had no door but a shower curtain. Room was clean however felt a little uneasy about the landlord, appeared creepy.
- Rosemary (10/5): My stay in London - The owner was charming and Rosie was a lovely lady who made me very welcome and didn’t rush me to leave. She also let me leave my case there earlier in the morning. Thank you ❤️
- John (10/5): A good little hotel. - For what we paid it was great, location couldn't have been better.
- Manu (6/5): - Clean room. Leaky windows made the room cold in the early hours of morning.
Tiny toilet with Shower almost over the WC.
Showering was uncomfortable.
Otherwise good value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely stay, lovely hosts. Good for a short stay, clean place with essentials
- Jonathan (8/5): - Excellent value for money for the location
- Colin (6/5): One time only - On arrival after a stressful journey, I was shown to a small room with shared bathroom. I told the manager that I was under the impression I had booked a room with private bathroom, which he disagreed with. He then offered me a room with bathroom, but for an extra £15 a night. As I was rushed and tired, I accepted.
However, after my evening out, I checked my emails, and saw that I did in fact have confirmation of a room with private bathroom at £60 per night. On meeting with the manager the net morning, I explained but he still maintained that the owners told him otherwise, but would refund me the £30.
I received the refund later that day, with a note claiming, yet again, that I had not booked a room with private bath. Making it feel it was all my fault and trying to con them. I have tried to find the owners to contact them directly, but have had no success.
I wasn't expecting luxury, so no problems there, but to have the manager trying to access my room, then knocking on the door, at 9am. Was disturbing.
Having read previous comments on tripadvisor this seem to be standard practise by them.
- James (8/5): Great value for central London. - Expect a budget stay and you won’t be disappointed. Fantastic value for the location. Quite comfortable and quiet. Rosie checked me in and couldn’t have been more helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value central London stop over - Good value central London stop over. Fairly basic but has everything you need for a budget stop over in the city. Packaged breakfast was fine. Old decor but all clean and working.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - basic & clean budget rooms - Great location and nice people. Tiny room and basic facilities but good value and a super spot for Soho. Some noise from pub below for the rooms at the front but rooms at the back are super quiet.
- Jennifer (8/5): Everything you need, clean and AMAZING. - Basic and clean . Can’t beat the location. Staff are helpful, but get a contact #. There’s no front desk, they’re just in another unit. You’ll want to know where to find them if you need anything
- sungju (10/5): good - very quiet and comfortable
- PAUL (6/5): - Great location, very small room and bathroom, many narrow stairs. Cash only.
- Ronald (8/5): - Good basic room, loads of snacks for breakfast, interesting hosts!
- J (6/5): - Great location in Central London.
Good value for money.
- Hin Ho (8/5): Get what you paid for, not bad - Stayed 3 nights for a training course. £60 a night in London zone 1, you cannot expect too much. This hotel is aged and small, clean enough, OK for a short stay. I had my own bathroom and a desk in the room, on the go breakfast and tea and coffee maker, it actually excess my expectation. The maintenance person is a 85 years old Italian chap who worked there for number of years, 7 days a week 7am to 9pm, who couldn't be nicer, just like my grand dad, I wish him all the best.
- Brian (6/5): - I was taken aback when I arrived to find that there was no lift and lugging a heavy suitcase up stairs was not pleasant. Also, I thought my credit card was to be deducted the cost of the stay, but instead I was asked for cash payment on arrival. Luckily, I had the money. The room was adequate, but having to go up a flight of stairs for the toilet and the shower was not ideal. You get what you pay for, but I'm unlikely to want to stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient for the city centre, managed by a friendly Italian.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No frills - This is value accommodation. Expect no frills and you won’t be disappointed.
- Peter (6/5): Cheap cheerful spartan but clean - Pretty basic but clean accommodation at a very good price.
Very conveniently located so would suit somebody who just wants a crash pad and is out doing a lot.
- Teresa (2/5): - I was told after booking through Expedia that the hotel hadnt been paid and the elderly Italian gentleman refused to leave my room until I paid him cash. He also offered to pay me £60 for my 'services'. Absolutely disgusted and humiliated.
- Benjamin (8/5): Fine for a night - Very friendly checkin staff and wait staff at breakfast. The hotel is dated and there’s scuffs and stains here and there, but the bed was comfortable, clean and restful. No major negatives or positives. It’s pleasant for a simple rest.
- Amanda (8/5): Convenient - Convenient area, would visit again.
- Richard (10/5): An excellent property in it's price range - My stay at Gosfield House was most enjoyable. Remembering that this is a budget accommodation in central London, my expectations were exceeded. I was delivered excellent value for money and slept well all 4 nights there. Just one thing to note: One must be able to climb stairs to stay here
- Nicholas (8/5): A great little find in central London - For the price per night and the location this was great for the 2 nights I needed. The room was a reasonable size and was nice and clean. The toilet was spotless - always a good sign. The shower area was a little small and it took a little while for the shower to get going but it was nice and hot. The room is not modern but comfortable. There was a TV and fridge. Plus a free in room breakfast which was some pre packed pastries and fruit etc. The owners were very friendly. Just note if you pay at the hotel it's cash only. I have stayed in similar type accommodation very close and it was not as good. Note the stairs are quite steep so that could be an issue if you had very heavy luggage or had mobility issues. Overall I would say this is a good little find for the price and area. Perfect for an overnight stay in central London. Check out time is 10am which was fine for me but maybe an issue for others.
- Frank (8/5): Best value hotel in London - If you can get a better value hotel in London I would like to hear about it. Just round the corner from Harley Street - Institute of Physics etc - Bed and Continental Breakfast in a clean, comfortable double room with a bathroom is excellent. at the price.
There is no lift, so the steep staris with a large heavy case might be a problem
- david (8/5): Good basic accommodation - Good clean hotel and nice in room breakfabreakfast. Good location in Fitzrovua, staff welcoming and friendly.
- Tom (8/5): It is an EXCELLENT case of its kind - I needed a room in central london at short notice. This was available, and very inexpensive. The Ritz? No. At what I paid? But the welcome was warm, the sheets clean, the street quiet. Yes, I had to climb stairs. Yes I had a private bathroom. No, there wasn't a front desk.
N.B.- There is no front desk, no late check in. PHONE AHEAD, arrange your check in time. Check OUT is no problem.
- Dene (6/5): Great location, needs a refurb - Great location just behind Oxford Street. Decor is very, very dated and tired. No reception so have to arrive before 9pm and payment is in cash only.
- Graham (10/5): Great for family - We had a wonderful stay. The owners put us up in an apartment that had one bedroom and a loft with two twin beds for the same price. They cleaned daily and left fresh fruit and rolls for breakfast. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great pub b&b - Great pub accommodation - welcoming hosts, clean & comfortable room & a hearty breakfast! All in a very convenient location.
- Raven (10/5): Hidden little gem! - Very enjoyable stay for one night. Bed very comfortable and local from the Palladium was perfect on a quiet side road. (Even the stairs were not that big a deal! Haha)
The lovely couple went of their way to make us feel at home!
Will definately look to stay there again in the future.
- peter (8/5): - very good location, clean and fully functional, comfortable bed. value for money.
