As you come out of the hotel you are right in the heart of the markets shopping area. Staff are friendly and there are free coffees, drinks and even 🍶 sake. Definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Kyoto.locak to metro, buses. Short walk to Gion area and canal side walks. There was not much to dislike about this hotel. Highly recommend.

• PAUL (7/5): Fantastic location, but garden terrace hours dumb - Pros: location is easily perfect. Washer/dryer appliance was a great convenience and worked (we washed overnight while we slept), but don't expect a fresh scent (clothes had a slight stale smell after washing, but not offensive). Cons: staff seemed to be different everyday through our 7 day stay which made rapport impossible; coffee machine broke twice and staff needed to be reminded to restock cups or lids twice; some wear showing with stains on furniture and shower curtain; staff did not seem experienced with luggage forwarding as this hotel does it through an app for Sagawa so expect some difficulty as english speaking staff here is not available; "kitchenette" is an extreme exaggeration so assume a small fridge and microwave because the hot plate and lack of basic kitchen necessities just doesn't do it; oddest is the nice garden terrace that's heavily advertised is only open 8am - 8pm which is almost useless since travelers are typically out well before 8am and returning after 9pm so visions of morning coffee on the terrace or late night relaxing on the terrace were null and void -- this was a big negative for us.

• Amanda (10/5): THE BEST STAY IN KYOTO: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION - This was both the best accommodation and experience of our 8 night Japan trip. From the moment we arrived the staff were warm and welcoming. It was seriously the best service we had during our whole stay in Japan. I have never come across more attentive staff than here. From the moment we visibly arrived hot and hungry they were onto it. Showing us where the ice and cold water were to looking up a place to find the food that we felt like at the time. The best part about our stay here was the location and also the free tea and coffee during the day/night and the free Sake in the afternoons. They also have all of the free amenities that are in your room available in the reception area aswell. We will definitely return here on our next trip. There is absolutely nothing I can fault here.

• Lis (10/5): Beautiful hotel in a quiet location close to shops and transport. - Loved the free coffee machine, the stylish building, proximity to the subway, buses, shopping mall. Whilst it's a little way from the main station, it is close to transport and within walking distance to many places such as the Gion District and the Imperial Palace so makes a good central base from which to explore Kyoto. It is in a quiet street and there is a 24 hour Family Mart convenience store close by. Also appreciated the washer dryer in the room. We were so impressed with this Tokyu Stay property we booked our next stay in Tokyo at the Tokyu Stay Shibuya Shin-minamiguchi. The only other things that would have improved the room would have been some bowls (only flat plates available), bigger forks and a knife. We could have rented a knife from reception but we made do.

• PAULO HENRIQUE (9/5): Excellent location in Kyoto, very comfortable and extremely convenient for exploring the city - The location is excellent. The subway station right next to the hotel is Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station, which makes getting around very easy. The area itself is amazing to walk around, full of shopping streets and small local stores. You also have Nishiki Market less than a 7-minute walk away, although I personally found the surrounding streets even more interesting and less touristy than the market itself, which felt a bit overhyped. The main street right by the hotel is Shijo Street, and there are convenience stores nearby (one is a bit hidden, but there’s another on the main street). From there, you can also walk to Gion, which is a beautiful area, especially in the evening. The hotel itself is quite spacious by Japanese standards. The beds were comfortable, and I booked a room with a washing machine, which was excellent (soap is included and the machine is also a dryer). That made the stay much more convenient. Overall, the hotel feels very practical, comfortable, and well-designed. I had previously stayed near Kyoto Station, but this location is a huge upgrade. Definitely worth it. There is no breakfast, but honestly, you won’t miss it. Just grab something from a nearby convenience store or try the many small food shops around. Everything is delicious and it’s a great way to try different things. There’s honestly not much to complain about. If I had to point out something, the nearest convenience store is a bit hidden, so it’s not as immediate as in some other locations, but once you know where it is, it’s not really an issue. (Just google FamilyMarket and you will find it, its like 3 minutes walking from the hotel) Also, since the hotel is located in a busy shopping area, it can get a bit crowded outside, especially during peak hours. This didn’t bother me much, but it’s something to keep in mind if you prefer quieter surroundings. Other than that, everything worked really well and I had a great stay.

It was convenient, modern wonderful amenities and terrific staff. there is so much to do in the area from shopping to dining and sightseeing. The property even offers basic amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, and pajamas. There is a beautiful coffee and sake area in a lovely lobby.

Location was great, subway very close and the hotel is inside a shopping area (this is both great and not great) It’s no option to buy breakfast and it was hard to find anywhere to eat breakfast near by since everything was closed until 10.30-11.00 except McDonalds and small shops like Familymart and Lawson. But if you remember to buy some food for breakfast it’s ok, and there is coffee and tea from 06.00 in the morning located in the lobby.

They helped us in multiple occasions - from finding a table at a popular spot to guiding us on how to get to Osaka without taking the Shinkansen. Location was good as well. The subway system in Kyoto is not as great as in Tokyo, but you can get buses and taxis very easily by just walking a bit from the hotel. Cleaning was not the best. They do change towels and garbage bags every day if you request it, but that’s about it. If you are staying for more than a couple of nights, that can be annoying.

• Don (10/5): Great Location. Great Stay. - I had an excellent 5 days at the Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza Hotel. The hotel is located off of Main Street, however, taxis are not able to pull up to the front door. It’s a very short walk on a covered walkway to reach the hotel entrance. I reserved a premier room and it exceeded expectations. It was very spacious with a small kitchen and a large table. The service was excellent throughout my stay. They do not offer breakfast option, but there are many cafés nearby. They do offer coffee drinks and sake in the lobby at no charge. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Lots of shopping and sight seeing to be done within close distance. In room washing machine is extremely convenient. Good selection of self-service amenities. Our initial room had a terrible musty smell due to an issue with the in room washing machine or plumbing and as an asthmatic I had a very bad time the first night as they said it was too late for them to arrange another room for us. We tried to resolve the issue ourselves by running the air purifier and air conditioning and purchased a carbon filter to try and reduce the smell, but nothing worked and we both woke up feeling very unwell. Bedding was very hot and scratchy, had to have the air conditioning quite low to be comfortable, this isn’t exactly uncommon though.

• Kaiyun (9/5): 超棒的 - 24小時的櫃檯讓人很安心，有問題都很溫柔的回答，咖啡好喝，房間洗脫烘衣機超棒，每天都有乾淨衣服可以穿！飯店位置真的是超方便！哄睡完小孩後大人可以馬上輪流去逛街，雖然店家都很早關門，可是住在商店街裡，不管吃飯、休息、補貨、購物都可以完全不用淋到雨，以後還會想來住！
