Guest Reviews
- Lois (10/5): - A splendid old chateau, in centre of Falaise. Can walk to most sights. Host very pleasant and knowledgeable of area. Good parking in locked courtyard.
- Diane (10/5): Excellent - We had The rotunda room which is absolutely beautiful. Our host was friendly and told us about the history of this wonderful place. We had 3 huge windows with which to view part of Falaise. The bathroom was spotless with 2 wash basins, bath & excellent shower. Our breakfast was perfect too with fruit, yoghurt, fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, bread rolls, cheese & tea/coffee. Parking is available at the front of the house in private courtyard.
All in all an excellent stay.
- Corinne (10/5): - Beautiful historic property, charming host, great breakfast.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- BARRY (10/5): - Fabulous in every way, lovely old building with the right period interior and furnishings. Charles is the perfect host and was superb when I was unfortunately taken ill. We will return.
- RICHARD (10/5): - We so enjoyed our stay! The history of the property lovingly cared for and maintained was evident throughout. I hope we can stay again someday.
- Eden (10/5): Memorable stay in heart of Falaise - Fabulous stay. Charles, our host, was very helpful and attentive and gave us a tour of the property and described its history and the work that had gone into restoring the property. The rooms were beautiful and spotless and had a great view of the parkland behind. Charles provided an excellent continental breakfast in the morning. Truly memorable stay.
Hotel was ideally suited for the centre of Falaise (10 minute walk to the castle, 2 mins to restaurants and shops). Hotel had private parking. About 30 mins from Ouistream and the Ferry
- Stuart (10/5): Delightful hidden gem - If you want to expereince true history in Falaise and sleep on the ramparts with lovely views and a great room then this is a hidden gem of a place with a delighful host in Charles.
- james (10/5): History and charm galore! - Stepping back into time staying in an 18th. Century Chateau with renovated beautifully decorated large rooms! Charles was our very charming host. He booked a dinner in town for us and had a great breakfast in front of a wood burning fireplace in the morning. Total luxury and experience. Also quite reasonable.
- Roger (10/5): A lovely chateau in Falaise - We love this hotel, it is an old chateau with only three large well equipped rooms, so limited noise from other guests. It’s very close to the center of town and has secure free parking. The owner provides a lovely continental breakfast with fresh fruit and log fire when it’s cold. There is a kitchen near the rooms with fridge, sink and microwave . The rooms and corridors have lots of traditional paintings hanging up, so a must for art lovers.
- Malcolm (10/5): - This is an amazing property dating from 1790 with beautiful antique furniture and original features. Charles, the owner, is charming and welcoming. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and furnished with views over the adjacent parkland. Off street parking was available and the hotel is in central Falaise so convenient for the local amenities and museums and Castle.
- Enit (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay in this unique hotel. We were surprised and thrilled to have the experience of a stay in an exquisite historical building with authentic classical furniture. There was also a collection of classical paintings and the furniture felt like we were living in a royal palace. La chambre de Marquis was opulently decorated and furnished, The breakfast experience was also charmingly exceptional. We found the breakfast ready waiting for us in a salon a filled with beautiful furniture and with sounds of classical music in background. We would love to stay here again.
- jerome (10/5): Très bon - Bel accueil nuit agreable
Manque un tv dans la chambre
- Jennifer (10/5): - Elegant
- Alexander (10/5): - A lovely boutique hotel keeping rooms with their original eighteenth century features. Whilst discretely introducing modern plumbing.
- GREG (10/5): A night at the museum. - The luxury suite is like admiring the royal bedrooms at chateau musee's and then trying out the bed. The bed on top of that may be the most comfortable bed in France. The suite is perfect for a romantic visit to Falaise.
- Ian (10/5): - It was a magnificent property. Centrally located in Falaise, but also very quiet. The owner, Charles, was extremely welcoming and it was like being a guest in his private home. His private home, however, was like something out of a fairy tale. A unique experience.
- Kinga (10/5): - Very spacious room with a unique stylized decor that makes one feel transported to a different era. Delicious dishes and pleasant breakfast room. Charles is an outstanding host who goes above and beyond for his guests - we needed to check in early and leave our luggage to tour the city and visit the Falaise castle and he gladly accommodated us. I the morning we had an early train and he prepared a full early breakfast before the scheduled time.
- david (10/5): - Elegant and spacious room
- Julie-Emma (10/5): - The historical setting is magnificent. The owner,Charles, has created a 'step into past times' with passion and attention to detail.
- Fedir (10/5): - we liked it all! highly recommend
- Laurence (10/5): Exceptionnel !
- Trystan (10/5): What a gem of a place well worth a visit! - I had a truly wonderful time, the owner is very attentive and great to talk to about the history of the area the building.
Breakfast was fantastic as well just sitting in such a historic place and enjoying it as an experience.
The hotel itself is less that two minutes walk to the city but also relatively quiet!
I will go back again and looking forward to when that will be!
- Chrissie (10/5): - A really great find! Falaise makes a good stop over en route for UK from south of France. This Castel was amazing - 1787 and beautifully furnished by the charming owner. Superb breakfast too. It will become our base on future travels.
- David (10/5): - It is a fantastic building to stay in and the town is very worthwhile
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed staying in a chateau in town. Charles the owner was very welcoming and gave us a tour around his home. If you want to stay in a modern hotel with all the amenities this is probably not the place for you. But if you want charecter and personal service you will not regret it. Breakfast in front of the log fire surrounded by artwork overlooking the park from your 18th century drawing room was an experience we will always remember.
- Henrique (10/5): A true castle experience - Our stay was just amazing - what a lovely castle renovation!!
Thank you Charles for your great hospitality and attention to detail.
The bed was super comfortable, the room spacious, bathroom had both shower and bath and our breakfast was a delicious selection of local products set in a lovely salon with a warm fire place. We’ll be back!
- Jane (10/5): Perfection! - Everything about Castel Saint-Léonard was perfect. The owner, Charles, greeted us warmly, made a dinner reservation, and gave us a tour of his amazing old home. He explained the history of the building and his plans for the future. Charles is lovingly restoring a significant mansion and deserves a lot of credit for his ambitious plans. Falaise is a very interesting city with several museums and a castle of William the Conqueror. Charles was a charming host and we enjoyed our stay very much.
