Guest Reviews
- barry (9/5): Comfortable & met requirements - Location & facilities Toaster did not work. Rooms being at different levels is not good for oldies as they are trip / fall hazards
- Jonathan (10/5): -

- C (10/5): -
- Antoine (10/5): Un super endroit pour se reposer ou partir en exploration aux alentours ! - La réactivité des propriétaires, la propreté de l’établissement ainsi que les services mis à disposition étaient parfaits, rien à redire !
- J. (9/5): Rustig, compleet vakantiehuis in Daintree! - Groot ruim huis met 2 slaapkamers met goede bedden. Hele fijne regendouche, goed uitgeruste keuken. Zeep voor de wasmachine, vaatwasblokjes, diverse kruiden, extra handdoeken, kortom vanalles goed aanwezig. Alleen een goed broodmes misten we.
- Nikita (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Adventure. - Location. Mozzies but not the properties fault.
- Sreenivasa (10/5): -
- Debra (10/5): Beautiful and clean property - The house was spacious and equipped with everything we needed. No internet access, and unable to watch free to air channels. We used our own internet to watch netflix.
- Arthur (10/5): A peaceful, comfortable stay in a well-equipped home surrounded by nature. - We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Egrets Rest. The house was spacious and well-equipped, with a comfortable living room, dining area, and a large kitchen that had everything we needed. Both bedrooms were very comfortable, and we especially appreciated the outdoor laundry area with plenty of space to hang clothes to dry. There were lovely sitting areas at both the front and back of the house, and we really enjoyed watching the birds around the property. A peaceful, relaxing, and memorable stay. Highly recommended. If you're there for birdwatching make sure to catch a morning and/or evening boat tour on the Daintree River with Boatman Wildlife Cruises. It was just a few minutes walking down to the dock to catch the boat tour. Great location.
- Russell (9/5): A very pleasant stay and good value for money. - Very spacious and easy to walk through. Satisfactory food preparation area and good supply of utensils and equipment. Bathroom and toilet appeared to have been renovated in good style. The living area was tastefully decorated with a rustic feel. Some aspects of the building infrastructure need renovation, but this did not detract from our enjoyment of staying there.
- Jared (10/5): Comfortable and great location - Nice place in Daintree Village. Easy access to Daintree NP and Daintree river wildlife cruises. Property was great.
- Ben (10/5): A beautiful, comfortable place to stay while visiting the Daintree! - This was one of the highlights of our trip. The house was clean and cozy. The kitchen was very well stocked with well maintained and sharp utensils and the kids loved the puzzles and books! Really not much! The only thing was that we couldn't find a lighter or matches to light the mozzie coils.
- Bernie (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Daintree. Hope to stay again! - Everything about this property is incredible! Super comfortable, quiet area, well equipped kitchen, amazing shower, spacious and beautifully decorated. Nothing to dislike.
- Ken (10/5): Wonderful stay - We stayed last June and could not have been happier.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and a pleasure to come home to.
Lovely linen and comfortable beds. The wasing machine is an added bonus for travellers.
Very quiet, and 2 nice patios to sit on front and back. It was excellent value for money.
- Venus (7/5): -
- marguerette (9/5): This was a very comfortable quiet home and we loved it -
- Heather (9/5): - Beautiful undercover areas in front and back. A lovely tropical garden.
- NWM (8/5): - De ligging en de ruimten de tuin Niet overal even schoon
- Paula (10/5): Peaceful place to relax and use as a jumping off point to Daintree. - This is a quaint house set on a beautiful property. The house is quite spacious. Two bedrooms, large kitchen-dining area. Comfortable beds. Laundry-washing machine. You need to bring your own detergent. It is not hooked up to warm water, so only cold water wash which you have to program. No dryer-but there is a drying rack and a clothesline with clothespins in the garden. Nice big garden with furniture to sit outside front and back. There is also an outdoor dining table and a BBQ. No shampoo is provided. Shower has good water pressure. In the kitchen-toaster, kettle, panini press, pots and pans, etc. A dishwasher with soap provided. We enjoyed our stay here. Very quiet and peaceful. There is a pub down the road with some of the best French fries I have ever had. There is No WIFI. Nothing negative to say at all-just a suggestion to maybe add steak knives to the cutlery drawer.
- FJ (9/5): Prachtige plek en goed uitgeruste vakantiewoning - Lovely place en heerlijke, rustige sfeer.
Alles voorhanden, heerlijke tuin. Niets, all OK
- Daniel (8/5): Comfortable accomodation for a family trip and great location in the Daintree. - Property was good value for money and in a good location. TV didn’t work, well at least I couldn’t work it so assume it doesn’t work. Also there was no internet.
- Lynda (10/5): Peace in the tropics - Excellent peaceful spot which we really appreciated now that the school holidays have started. Nicely arted space. Really helpful owner. All good.
- Karen (10/5): - Spacious, spotlessly clean, comfy beds and great communication. We couldn't fault this accommodation.
- Val (8/5): Very good - The place was lovely and clean and we were supplied with everything we needed. There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
- Jill (10/5): A very comfortable and pleasant stay - Egrets Rest had everything you needed comfortable beds , a beautiful out door area and garden
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Lovely peaceful location- great for visiting Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation and Mossman Gorge. House was spacious and garden beautiful. Great evening meal at the Daintree Hotel which is 5 minutes walk away. We couldn’t get the TV to work without using our phone hotspot. No complimentary ferry pass as stated on the booking website (although owner did try to get one for us but by that time we had already travelled over on the ferry).
- Ruth (9/5): Beautiful setting to spend a few days exploring the area - Beautiful setting - loved being able to sit comfortably both inside & outside.
Nicely furnished & decorated & very comfortable. No shampoo or conditioner provided - which was unexpected.
- Palanisamy (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Highly recommended - Nice house with beautiful surrounding. Our puppy loved it too. Very quiet location, easy topark the car. Walking distance to the village. Very helpful and understanding host.
- Jaydip (8/5): Very good - Great location and a very nice property No running hot water!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - It's a great place. The house is clean and very cozy, there is everything for a comfortable family stay. Excellent kitchen and BBQ area, stunning mountain views from the porch, and a chorus of frogs can be heard in the courtyard in the evening. We will definitely come here again.
- Hans (9/5): Perfect base for a stay in Daintree Village. - Comfortable, spacious and homely, this gem has everything you need. Located in a quiet street with a leafy garden, it’s a five minute walk from the village centre.
- Here (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginia (10/5): A comfortable stay in a beautiful and well-cared for home. Spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, fabulous kitchen with eve - Lovely home with beautiful garden, within walking distance of the town center. Super comfortable, well-appointed.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Lovely spot, no problems - Convenient and peaceful location, plenty of room, ceiling fans make it very comfortable (you don't even really need the aircon), everything works (except TV). Actually better inside than the photos suggest. Some might not like the lack of Wi-Fi .
Curtain in rear bedroom needs repairs.
A flyscreen on the front door would be good.
Would be nice if previous guests cleaned the BBQ!
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (8/5): We had a great time. Plenty of space , lovely backyard in a quiet location. Would have liked to have stayed here longer - Great location in quiet village with paddocks across the road and birds, frogs and geckos in the garden.
Close to where we wanted to be for early morning Daintree Village Boat Cruises.
- Jolinda (10/5): Lovely place to relax and explore the Daintree - The house is an older house that has been beautifully renovated and furnished. The location and yard were absolutely beautiful. It was clean and all the beds including the trundle bed were very comfy. Perfect place to disconnect and relax, can't wait to come back. Our fault really, the host kindly provided mozzie coils but we couldn't find anything to light them with and we forgot to bring matches ourselves.
- Khosravi (8/5): Amazing - The view of this property is stunning.
- Glenys (10/5): A terrific retreat into life on the Daintree - Egrets Rest was clean, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed.
Easy walk to the village and lots of lovely frogs on the front lawn to greet at night.
- Yulia (8/5): Great for 2 nights - Price and territory The floor was little bit dirty
- Culley (10/5): Peaceful and surreal. Thank you for having us. We hope to return one day - Everything Nothing
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional - The place is spacious and on a beautiful spot. It's secluded while still being accessible
- Nicola (10/5): If you want to explore the Daintree area , I can't recommend this house enough. - Everything was fab! The location, the decor, the cleanliness, the facilities within the house. If you are lucky enough to be able to book this house, don't hesitate. It's absolutely enchanting. There is a lot of wildlife in the area, including insects so if you don't like this you should stay away from the whole area (not specifically this house). Loved being amongst the birds and away from the tourist throngs. We travelled with two primary aged kids.
- Marlene (10/5): Exceptional - + spacious
+ close to the Daintree River
+ clean
+ lots of information on what to do in the area provided
- Margaret (7/5): Large attractive well-equipped unit - Large, well equipped unit with comfortable bed, chairs and couch, good kitchen facilities, an attractive garden, plus BBQ and washing facilities. We had issues with a few cockroaches and other insects within the unit. The owners told us that they will arrange to have pest controllers check it out. The booking.com listing should not state that a TV is available as it is not connected to anything. Not having Wi-Fi or live TV available is unfortunate for a stay of any length in a fairly isolated township.
- Dougsandy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narelle (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable house with plenty of space, well equipped kitchen and very clean throughout. Location is amazing in very peaceful and restful countryside. A lovely place to stay.
- Susan (10/5): What a gem! - Beautiful views and easy walk around the small village. Nice and quiet location. Excellent facilities and beautiful garden - the home was perfect for my family. Wonderful to be able to do laundry and hang it outside to dry, or on the patio if the weather wasn't great. Very comfortable beds and great sized rooms. There were even a few toys in the cupboard, which my 4 year old loved. We absolutely loved it here and would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you! Shower had no water pressure (seems like it was clogged up since there was excellent water pressure everywhere else in the house) and was difficult to get a constant temperature, so I bathed my young children in the kitchen sink as I didn't want to risk them getting burned if the water suddenly went hot.
- Belinda (10/5): Excellent value for money! Very Comfortable - This place had everything we needed for our little 2 night getaway. Is in a quiet little town which was a great starting point for exploring the Daintree. Everything was clean, the beds and couches were comfy. There was so much space and loved how it had so many sitting areas, inside and out. Was great to sit outside and cook a bbq. This place had a very cosy, homely feeling. Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again. The only thing I could fault, which is very minor, was that we couldnt find a dustpan to clean up after we swept, there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom and no antenna connected to be able to watch Tv.
- Linda (8/5): Lovely accommodation in a lovely little village -
- Keng (8/5): Very good - Owner has been most helpful and accomodative. Appreciated the assistance rendered when we were stranded for another day due to a severe weather event. No WiFi, no free to air TV programmes available, hence limiting our connection to the outside world. Scary experience when faced with the sudden rising of river water levels due to heavy downpour 😢
- Heather (8/5): Fabulous stay in Daintree - We liked the location, the property was spacious and well decorated. A couple of small holes in the fly screens and no shower gel, or shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.
- Marcus (10/5): Exceptional -
- G (10/5): Egrets Rest, great property, great choice, great stay.. ❤️ - Lovely home, great presentation.
Hosts were very helpful, great communication..
Pleasant experience ☺️ Nothing to do with the property, the humidity was difficult for us..
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- François (9/5): Superb -
- Piper (10/5): Great. - Position and quality Ferry pass did not exist and local pub was closed-new ownership happening. Out of hosts control.
- Joanne (10/5): It was a comfortable fully equipped house in a stunning area. Would love to go back one day. - We never met the host. It was very nicely presented and looked better in real life than in the photos. Very relaxing place. We loved the garden and all the birds in the trees. Were sad to leave. We don't know if the tv worked or not as it did not appear to be connected to anything. There did not seem to be a dvd player although it said there was one when I booked. The notes on the place said look at the instructions in the drawer to operate the television but there were none. Despite this we managed to get some music on our phone and played scrabble which we enjoyed for a change.
- Tammy (9/5): Superb -
- Stacey (10/5): Perfect place to stay on a family holiday - Everything was great. Comfortable beds, big kitchen with everything you need to cook good food, backyard for kids to run around in, plenty of sitting areas inside and outside, bbq in back patio, and a large laundry area. Loved it all nothing I didn't like
- Tammie (10/5): We loved our stay at egrets rest - Everything Nothing
- Lynn (9/5): Superb -
- Malcolm (9/5): Quiet, comfortable, relaxing. - Well presented, well equipped. Close to Daintree Village facilities. Quiet. Good communication about how to access property. TV didn't work
- Dennis (9/5): Our stay 4 adults, was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet spot but close to town etc. - Well equipped, spacious and location was good
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (8/5): Very good - Very clean, well stocked kitchen for general cooking. Nice size rooms Location is good to explore southern Daintree but you do need to catch the ferry to the north daintree so plan your trip to avoid multiple ferry tickets
- Crawshaw (9/5): appreciated being able to stay in a place with good amount of indoor and outdoor space. Was v homely - Lots of space, kitchen well equipped. Easy to find. Peaceful location. No wifi and TV didn't work - card missing.
- Rosemary (9/5): Superb -
- Pravina (10/5): Stunning retreat - The location is stunning, peaceful and very well located to Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Croc tours and a few minutes walk from the Daintree Village. We saw amazing wildlife crocs, giant frogs, snakes, beautiful birds and butterflies...
We are a family of 5, boys aged 9-14 yrs. After 6 weeks of travelling, it was a wonderful place for us all to relax together for 4 nights, wish we could have stayed longer!
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (6/5): Beautiful location with lots to do locally just make sure you plan and make a note of directions before you go, and be p - Beautifully furnished home with air con. Beds were really comfortable and hosts recommendation for the croc cruise and free return passes to cross the river to Cape Tribulation were really appreciated. The mosquitoes and no wi-fi. Even just when retrieving the key from the security box, I got 30 bites and during our 3 night, 2day stay I had over 100 bites in spite of using mosquito coils and repellent spray. Consequently we kept all doors and windows shut and didn’t go out after 4pm.
I tried to ring the host 3 times on the day of our arrival and left messages but I don’t think she got them. I think the phone signal and Wi-Fi reception are really poor in this area. We missed a croc cruise because we couldn’t find where it departed from and were unable to Google it or ring the operators which was pretty frustrating. We couldn’t make contact with family either which was very important as my brother had just passed away before we left the UK. TV and music player didn’t work.
- Sally (8/5): easy and comfortable stay convenient for river cruises on the Daintree - clean, comfortable beds, well equipped nothing
- Wai (9/5): Superb - Very cozy and well kept home. All the essentials provided.
Complimentary ferry passes was a nice surprise. Cockroach in the bedroom
- Vizul (8/5): Very good - Location and other facilities. Tastefully decorated. Bathroom kept flooding very quickly and there were no wardrobes in the bedrooms
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Val (10/5): Great stay, fantastic house, highly recommended to travellers - The location was great, house was lovely, warm and welcoming. We would definitely return again. Nice outside entertainment area with BBQ, but we we unable to use it as it was raining. We recommend staying here.
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the pool, easy access to the beach and absolutely lovely accommodating staff Nothing
- Narelle (10/5): Wonderful quiet, clean & spacious cottage - excellent for a group or family. - Absolutely beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. The attention to detail in decorating the house was exceptionally good. Nothing really.
