- Diana (9/5): Wish we could have stayed longer. - Lovely location and facilities. We are keen to go back. A hair dryer in the room would have been good. Everything else was great.
- Michele (10/5): -
- Jane (6/5): - Staff was lovely nothing any trouble food was good It was nothing like the photos to the advertisement so definitely not worth the money.the pots wasn't clean.it could do with a good scrub from top to bottom and no heating during the nite it was frezzing
- Sue (8/5): Restful break with great hosts - Easy access to areas for walking. Quiet secluded spot. Nothing
- Lorraine (10/5): Warm cosy and really comfortable bed ! - Breakfast was excellent ! So we’re the owners!
- Chas. (8/5): A peaceful and picturesque spot for a stopover on our way North, but ideal for a longer stay too. - Warm welcome, comfortable bed, good breakfast. Beautiful spot. We were only there overnight but it would be a great base for walking or exploring the area. We loved the wetroom and the enthusiastic dog though they might not suit everyone.
- Kenneth (7/5): -
- LYNDA (10/5): Perfect - would definitely stay again - The venue was easy to find with ample parking. Set in a beautiful rural location. We received a warm welcome from the hosts who showed us to our room. The house is one to envy and our room was clean and comfortable. The en-suite shower room/WC was clean and fully functional and the main bedroom itself had a basin and tea/coffee making facilities ideally place by one of the windows. Breakfast was a choice of continental (my partner had) or full English (which I had). Both with delicious. The cooked breakfast was hot, perfectly done and promptly delivered. The hosts were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Maybe a guest soap in the shower but that's being really picey (my new word for the week).
- James (9/5): Cosy and friendly. - Warm and cosy Too far to walk into town if you wanted an evening meal.
- Ian (9/5): - The owners were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room had all amenities you would expect from a B&B, the bed was comfortable and the room was nice and cosy. A perfect location for touring the area just a short 20 min stroll from Pickering town centre. Nothing comes to mind during our visit
- Thomas (9/5): Lovely place, lovely hosts and would stay again. - Everything as described and expected. Carole and Elliot were most obliging and friendly, lovely hosts. It's right in the middle of countryside, peaceful (other than the occasional whistle of a steam locomotive) and plenty of nature. All in all we really enjoyed our stay. A little way out of the town but other than that I refuse say anything negative.
- Scott (8/5): Nice people and a great host including nutty the dog -
- Altringham (9/5): Good location and excellent breakfast - Quiet location, good nights sleep and excellent breakfast Nothing
- Bev (8/5): - Very friendly family run b & b, delicious breakfast, fabulous location.
Good for anybody wanting to walk, Pickering and steam train close by, plenty of places to eat. Bed a bit hard for me

- Karen (10/5): Very Welcoming - Lowther House felt homely and relaxing. Our hosts kindly allowed us to arrive a lot later than originally planned - many thanks for this.
Our room had everything we needed and was very quiet and comfortable.
The location was perfect for us with lots of country walks on the doorstep and within walking distance of Pickering. Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): - Beautiful place, fantastic hosts. Friendly and welcoming
- Mavis (8/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Lovely quiet location - The room was clean and Elliott and Carol were great hosts.
The breakfast was delicious
- Martin (10/5): Lovely peaceful stay in a great location with an amazing host - Great location. Fantastic host, lovely breakfast That we didn’t stay long enough
- Harold (8/5): -
- Colin (8/5): Steam train seclusion. - Quiet locus. Near a level crossing where the North York steam trains pass,if you enjoy that kind of thing. No lighting at all from carpark to house. Pitch black. Struggled finding the keyhole in the evening on return.
- Trevor (9/5): - Perfect location and great breakfast 😁 Nothing
- Alain Bo (7/5): - Accueil sympathique, très joli jardin et le petit déjeuner. La salle de bain sans bac de douche qui fait fortement baisser le rapport qualité prix.
- Jeff (10/5): -
- Wheatley (9/5): An interesting and relaxing place to stay and we were well looked after. - Very good No problems
- Angela (7/5): Not too far from Pickering town - Comfy bed , warm welcome. Nice to sit in garden in evening. More choice for breakfast
- Robbie (10/5): Great stay, perfect for North Yorks Railway - Plenty of parking
Room was very comfortable with great views
location was excellent
- Watson (8/5): Very good - Extremely quiet as it was out of town The beds were too hard for me
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Jill (9/5): Adorable gem - The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us, quiet and close to town. The town of Pickering has several wonderful restaurants. Not a fan of the "wet room" but it was doable.
- Beverley (9/5): Superb - Loverly friendly hosts Shower head needed descaling
- Janice (8/5): Very good - It was so relaxing! Location was excellent! Breakfast was excellent!xx Sadly property although quaint desperately needs a lot of TLC! Not a great deal of cash but upgrading! It could be a gold mine!! I say this as an ex housekeeper!xx
- Hilary (8/5): Very good - Quirky, comfortable and welcoming
- Alison (1/5): Bad - Hosts seemed friendly but we didn't stay long enough to really comment. As soon as the front door opened my heart dropped. The walls and ceiling were dark and dingy, hadn't seen a lick of paint in many years. The carpet had a clean patch where the door mat had been and the rest was filthy. The hallway was really smelly, smelt like stale bodies. To be fair the bed looked clean but there were cobwebs around the window and the sink was in the bedroom rather than the shower room. Not what you expect for the price. We only stayed about 10 minutes as the smell was making me feel ill. I couldn't get the hallway smell out of my nostrils and it clung to my clothes after we left. We made alternative arrangements for the night, we couldn't stay there. The garden didn't look much like the photos either. I have emailed customer services twice to let them know what state this property is in but had no response so far. A complete waste of £120, don't know how it got the rating it has on the website.
- Isobel (9/5): Superb - This was the perfect escape from the world! The room was nicely decorated with everything I could need, the bed was so comfortable giving me the best sleep I'd had in ages, and it was super quiet and peaceful. It was lovely to have full access to the beautiful garden by the beck - Carol really made me feel at home. Breakfast was good and set me up for a day's walking. The location is great, just a short walk into Pickering, and you can even walk the path directly to Pickering Castle! Having to mop up the floor after using the shower in the wet room wasn't the most luxurious thing! But it did dry up quickly so wasn't too bad.
- Janice (10/5): Need to go again and stay longer. - Everything was perfect. The welcome was genuinely warm and we were made to feel at home from both Carol and Elliott. The room was spotless and well cared for. The gardens were so beautiful. Definitely will be back. Not a thing..
- Jeff (10/5): Tranquil - Beautiful rural and extremely quiet location it only a 20 minute walk into Pickering.
Carol was ultra friendly and helpful.
Nice comfortable room and a lovely full English.
- Jill (9/5): Would recommend this property - Had a marvellous stay. Host was very entertaining had a good night sleep.
- Ian (10/5): Four days in a perfect B&B!!! - Beautiful house in a gorgeous location …. A superb B&B where nothing is too much trouble. Waking up to the birdsong and going to sleep to the sound of the owls…. What more could you ask?! Nothing!!!

- Joanne (10/5): A Great Find ! - Lowther House is a really relaxing place in a lovely area and the hosts Carol and Elliot are fabulous - nothing too much trouble. Enjoyed everything about it xx
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was spot on, perfect
- Laskey (9/5): Superb - Peace and quiet, not that they were operating but close to steam trains too... Not much!
- Steven (10/5): A lovely place to stay , nothing not to like . - Everything , nothing not to like We had to leave 🙁
- Alycad (8/5): Very pleasant property close to Pickering with very helpful and friendly owners. - Very pleasant property very close to Pickering. The owners were really helpful, recommending suitable places to eat ( l am gluten free). Our room was very comfortable and warm and the breakfast was excellent. I thought the bathroom in our room was awkward and because it had been designed as a small wet room with a wrap around shower curtain didn't use it.
- Wendy (10/5): Cute, quaint stay. - The place had a nice cosy feel to it. Carol and Elliot were very welcoming.
- Dave (4/5): Disappointing - Location was good...Pickering lovely...great places to eat...NYMR steam trip. Lowther house for us personally not really our cup of tea.
- Robert (9/5): Cosy guest house - Excellent hosts and lovely breakfast. Quite a walk into town so allowed extra time.
- Roddy (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (10/5): Had a lovely relaxing stay. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything that we needed - Great location in beautiful surroundings
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was adequate well presented. the room was comfortable and the location was alright Walking from Pickering up to the guesthouse in the dark as there are no street lighting so a hand torch is essential.
- Martyn (9/5): Very comfortable and friendly place to stay and would recommend it to others. - Breakfast time was good and friendly. Being able to talk with other guests was nice and the host was very attentive. Not used to a wet room so found that uncomfortable. Would have preferred better sausages!! On the whole though, it was a very nice place to stay.
- Peggy (10/5): Amazing stay in a perfect location. - Stunning location. Very friendly hosts. Breakfast was excellent.
- Nancy (10/5): It was a lovely location and an easy walk into the village. - The house was delightful, the hosts very friendly, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was very enjoyable N/A could find no fault
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - GREAT PLACE TODAYS , HOSTS WERE AMAZING , THANK YOU
- Minns (6/5): short break - Breakfast
Quite Location overall not the standard of other places we have stayed for similar
- Veronica (8/5): Lovely location - Room size
Comfortable bed
Great breakfast Wet Room not bathroom
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the location it felt like being in the country
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location within easy walk of town. Lovely friendly host and pleasant, relaxing surroundings. Nothing to dislike.
- Sharon (9/5): A hidden gem with a lot to offer! - We received a warm welcome and were very well catered for from the start. The room overlooked the garden and was very well presented with everything we needed to complete our stay. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the ambience of the dining room was peaceful. The only thing to surpass were the hosts - friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lovely stay.
- Beach (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lester (10/5): Lovely location and very nice friendly hosts - Beautiful location, such pretty gardens. Comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast next morning The bathroom could benefit from an enclosed shower rather than a wet room as the floor was a little wet using the toilet after my husband used the shower. Other than that, it was really lovely and did not spoil our stay.
- Gabi (9/5): this property is in a lovely peaceful location and walking distance to Pickering - lovely gardens and great to have lunch as an option as well, the gardens are pretty and the property is surrounded by gorgeous countryside for walking.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (7/5): Peaceful location, a mile out of Pickering. Friendly staff - Nice location, very peaceful, although I didn't realise how far it was out of Pickering town centre.
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast was nice TV was small.
- J. (10/5): Short but oh so sweet - I had a short but lovely stay. My room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the garden. Breakfast was yummy and the host was exceptionally kind and helpful. I also enjoyed some time with the owner's adorable and sweet doggie, Nutty. I was missing my own dog and having some cuddles was just what I needed. I didn't have time, but the garden would be a welcome place to spend some time relaxing. Nothing, well, other than my own lack of planning and walking all the way from the station with my luggage. I'd not recommend this because the sidewalk surfaces are often not smooth. On the way back, the owner kindly took me into town.
- Jane (9/5): A stop off on our way through Yorkshire - Such a warm welcome from the hosts, we loved their enthusiasm. The location is peaceful, short walk into Pickering where we had a great Italian meal The room is on the small side, but as expected. Clean, cared for and comfortable
- Michael (10/5): Peace and tranquility - Amazing place Amazing staff. Beautiful scenery. So many sounds none of them man made apart from the trains wich I enjoyed. Maybe a little fan to move the air around the room on a hot day. Other than that great place we came in the summer season. So extra hot weather
- Paula (10/5): Cosy, comfortable and welcoming - Not far to walk into Pickering. Free parking.
Quiet location. It would be nice to have a guest lounge to use though this didn’t impact our stay.
- Lisa (10/5): Great stay ,made to feel welcome Both owner and Son Elliot very friendly ,Breakfast was lovely 🥰 - Lovely location , Great owners very down to earth made to feel welcome
Even Nutty the dog tolerated our eager 🙄🙄🙄 whippet !
Food was really nice . Struggled to get BBC 1 but no ones fault
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Lane (10/5): Excellent people to stay with. Couldn’t be better. Food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. - Out in the sticks. Location is perfect. Not too far from anything.
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent - Friendliness of hosts. Lovely breakfast. Easy to find.
- Jackie (8/5): Beautiful trains - A beautiful location, nice and quiet in a wooded area, so lots of wildlife and a wild flower meadow at the front of the property. The property looks like an old farmhouse, so it has a lit of character. Very clean inside. We were in the garden room which had a huge bed, it was very comfortable. The room has a wet room, which I'm not a fan of, but it was clean and a good size. The full English had good quality items on it and was plenty to start the day. The garden is a cottage garden style but plenty of room. You can hear and see the steam trains from the garden as well. Carol and Elliot were lovely people who couldn't do enough for you. So helpful. Will be returning for sure. There's nothing really to say. I guess only thing you can say is, the lack of signal for the telly but the property in the woods so to be expected and I don't watch much telly so didn't bother us.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Location was in a rural setting but was only a short walk from the village. The train to Whitby was close by.
The house is situated near a beautiful stream, the potential to see various wildlife here is excellent.
The home cooked breakfast was fantastic and was a great start to the day. Nothing springs to mind
