- Annette (8/5): - This property is located in a quiet place. We drove into a parking lot labelled with the name only to discover that registration was half a block back. Other guests helped direct us where to go. The hotel looked liked it needed a coat of paint but inside it was a spacious set of rooms. Good amenities (tea, coffee, small refrigerator, separate sitting room, lots of outlets to charge electronics, many hooks to hang damp things, good closet space). The bathroom was small and dated but well appointed. Clean and comfortable. Three restaurants are available - one tilted towards Icelandic food (so we were told) - one for burgers and pub food, and another towards pizza and Italian. We enjoyed a lovely pub dinner. This is a port town - tourist ships dock. There is one grocery facility filled with souvenirs and food items.
- Tracy (6/5): - The room is sufficient for laying your head down but is much too tiny without enough room to open luggage. It is clean and has a cute communal kitchen but should be advertised as a rooming house or hostel in my opinion.
- Tamar (8/5): - The hotel is located in a cute lake town. The building used to be a post office that turned into hotel. Based on the pictures provided by Expedia, I chose the least expensive room as I couldn't see much difference between the rooms. That was a mistake. We couldn't fit our suitcase in the room. We felt as if we were sleeping in a closet. The room was very clean and basically was sufficient enough for one night. We had a great dinner across the street in a restaurant that belongs to the same owner.

Terrible communication with hotel, they are not responding to send messages. There is no reception, no one whom you can talk, there was only kitchen, we wanted to add breakfast, but HOW, no one's around for communicating. Also no option for eating in the WHOLE city after 9 pm, all kitchen's are closed even at FRIDAY!! No option to change charged credit card on the site, I had to call directly and they charged another amount, 12 euros more than site gives (will try to figure this one out) Overall not pleased

- caron (8/5): - The room was compact, cosy and clean. It had a proper double bed, not 2 singles pushed up together, there was a eating area where residents could eat their own food, a lounge area with comfortable seats and a fantastic breakfast that was served in the nearby hotel.

- Kaitlyn (8/5): - I stayed here for a short trip and was overall satisfied with the experience. The self-service check-in was quick and easy, which I really appreciated after a long day of travel. The room itself was very clean, modern, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The only real downside was the lack of elevator access in some parts of the building. I had a large suitcase, and carrying it up the stairs to my room was definitely a struggle. This could be a challenge for guests with heavier bags or mobility concerns. Other than that, the hotel was quiet, well-maintained, and a great value for the price. I'd consider staying again, but I'd try to pack a little lighter next time!

The common kitchen space was really nice, with everything you need to prepare your own meals. They even had items for purchase available.

- Michael (8/5): - Well, our stay didn’t start off on the right note which was cause for some disappointment off the bat, but we soon overcame that. Our issue was that the hotel does not keep staff in the reception unless you call them to tell them you’re coming. I don’t know about you but if I book a hotel and I don’t show up, I’ll get charged. That is my commitment to the hotel. I would hope that their commitment to me would be that they stay at the reception until their posted closing time on the day of my arrival. We were left to feel that it wasn’t worth their time, in the “off season” to be at the reception when we arrive. To be fair, they did send us a message to have us call before we arrived. We didn’t have phone service so I replied to their message with clear timing on our arrival but clearly that didn’t work. Otherwise, our experience at the hotel was fine. It’s a heritage building with lots of character and a very nice communal kitchen area. The bathroom was small and a little cramped but that might be expected in a building like this. The town was lovely, but not a bite to eat anywhere in the “off season” thankfully the hotel warned us about this so we were able to get a lovely dinner in a neighbouring town.

Separately -- during the winter season, you will need to check in to the red building around the corner, and then go back to the hotel. No big deal, just an interesting, unique way to do check in. That said, they have a wonderful common kitchen area with everything you need if you want to save a bit of money and make your own food. The sitting area in a solarium(?) on the second floor is beautiful.

- Courtney (10/5): Sweet little stay. - Wonderful little hotel! We stayed in December 2023 in a triple room with a great view out onto the ship harbor. It was easy to get in touch with reception to check in and he was wonderful to let us know which restaurant in town was open for the evening. There’s a fridge in the desk that we didn’t find until the next morning.

The room we actually booked was under construction due to a recent water leakage, so the property manager provided us an upgraded stay for the same price we originally paid. They provided us the opportunity to dine in for breakfast and were so nice to offer help when we had lost our drone to the tree by the blue church 😭 we’ve accepted our loss, but really appreciate their offer - it really is the thought that counts ❤️

- Verified traveler (6/5): Surprise…surprise!! - Room was quite small to our surprise. Can hear everything/everyone passing by hallway as well as next door room. Was surprised when our room was opened by a couple with their son and to their surprise too, we were already in the room. Apparently whoever checked them in gave them our room key as well 😣. Next morning, check out staff was so apologetic and offered us coffee or tea in the house. Location was near the harbor and since it’s in a small village, you can easily walk everywhere.
- Manon (10/5): Beautiful guesthouse in a beautiful town - We had an incredible stay in this very central guesthouse. The village is small but absolutely worth a visit, and you will be in the middle of it in this hotel. You can just walk around. Loved having our own private entrance.

- Aswin (4/5): Do not trust the photos! - Reminded me of uni days. Not in a good way. Room was smaller than my dorm and I felt misled by the photos. I went by the rating on hotels.com but lesson learnt as it seems loads of ppl were later surprised by what they got for what they paid. I even asked the reception if they could change the room but they told me to book a room that was 3x the price!! Check in experience was horrible - they make you come to another hotel. I would say though it was quite clean and the staff in general seemed friendly. It just felt that i was duped by the photos that presented a different image of the hotel. Whether thats the fault of the host or hotels.com, its the guest who ultimately pays the price (and quite a high one i must say)

- Yola (2/5): - Misleading advertising on line. This property is stinky, smells moldy and it’s so run down it’s scary. We would have not stayed but it was late. It was so difficult to check in we had to ask locals how to get a hold of the owners to let us in…really!
- Behnam (6/5): Mixed bag - This hotel has an amazing view of mountain and lake. It is walkable and the room was clean. The cons include: very tiny room (it is a hostel with private bathroom) and NO amenities! Yes, it has WiFi and free parking but these are standard in any hotel. Not even a tea bag or cup! It has a restaurant nearby if you are willing to pay $20/per person. I was the most expensive hotel even more than 4 star hotel in the capital. I do not recommend it.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Bait and Switch - Don't expect to get a room like pictures potrayed on website. Windows do not open, no air circulation, no amenities, very small, and you have to go to another building to get checked in upon arrival. Loud shrills from pipes when someone takes a shower.
- Christopher (10/5): Nice accommodations and beautiful are - Beautiful accommodation right on the water and in the heart of town. Staff was nice, comfortable stay, and the town was just absolutely beautiful.

- ALEXANDER (6/5): - Excellent location. Property is still very much adapting to the booming tourism of the area so I can’t be too critical. Old creaky place (you’ll hear everyone moving around you), shower backed up into the bathroom drain and started flooding. No staff around past 9 to fix it so no shower that night or next day. Given some time I’m sure it’ll be great, it still has some room to get there.

- Beatrice (8/5): Lovely Views - We really enjoyed the accommodation as it was perfect for a group of 3. Everyone had their own space. Our room looked right onto the lake and we even had a four legged friend (cat) greet us. Lovely restaurant near by that made lovely pizza and home made lasagne.
- Jason (10/5): Charming hotel in an art based town in Iceland - The Hotel Snaefell is a charming pleasant hotel at the lake edge in Seydisfjordur. The building is historic and my room was a single with en suite bathroom, and a lake view. The room was warm and comfortable with a antique wooden floor. Check in and breakfast (a plentiful breakfast which was additional ) was fine in the hotels associated restaurant. Check in was a breeze and all the staff were welcoming, helpful and accommodating. Free parking on-site makes moving luggage a breeze. Hotel Snaefell is a good option for a visit to the charming town of Seydisfjordur in Iceland and I have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to any traveller in Iceland.
- Calvin (8/5): Old hotel but beautiful location - Even though the hotel was old (creaky floors) and the bathroom was tiny (could not wash your face in the sink without water spilling on the floor), our stay met our practical needs since we only stayed 1 night. The staff are kind and the location is unbeatable. Beautiful lake right outside reflecting the colorful houses and the mountains.
- Chanel (8/5): Clean and great service but spotty WiFi - Arrived at the end of the season so a lot of places were closed. No tv in the room and the internet was really spotty. Bathroom was quiet small and hard to maneuver. But the place was really clean and service was great and friendly.
- Karen (8/5): Amazing stay - We attended a wedding in Seyðisfjörður and could not have been happier with Hotel Snæfell!!!
