Guest Reviews
- Anne (8/5): Delightful host. Door the only downside. As kin closed that day, no other facilities available. - Landlord Johnny excellent. Lack of a door on the shower room/toilet
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Oliver (9/5): Beautiful village pub, great food and very helpful staff - Lovely pub, great food and very friendly staff WiFi didn’t seem to work
- Caroline (8/5): Ideal place. Well equipped compact ensuite bedroom. Great staff, friendly ambience and good food. -
- Mayumi (9/5): Excellent stay with very friendly staff, manager and chef were exceptional. - Atmosphere, food and staff/service All good, maybe some areas need a bit of freshening up/decoration.
- Holmes (8/5): - Great friendly reception
- Jo (9/5): Lovely location, friendly staff - The manager was very helpful and got the room ready for us early so we could check in before going to a wedding down the road. Great room, although no door between bedroom and bathroom, so lucky we're a couple! Very comfortable and clean No option for breakfast, no coffee machine in the room
- Anonymous (6/5): Enjoyed an overnight stay. - The staff were lovely and helpful. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. We knew it was a pub and were expecting noise, but it was quiet. The room had tea/biscuits/water. Extra pillows. Toiletries. Fan. Hairdryer. The rooms are not very soundproof and are tired. Could do with a move around to make more space. No door on the bathroom. Luckily was not hot weather as the smokers were just below our window, so would have been smelly with the windows open.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Rhona (8/5): A lovely country escape off the beaten track but easy to reach and find. - The staff here are smashing. Friendly and accommodating of my requests and changes of dates.
Huge thanks to Johnny, Paul and team. Food is delicious! We will be back :-)) Nothing I can think of.
- Byron (10/5): A beautiful gem of a place hidden in a beautiful village would rate it 100 stars out of 5 - The Pub and rooms are a gem in hiding, everything was brilliant, Johnny the owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well fed :)
I enjoyed my stay there so much that I will be taking the family there for a lunch as the food is awesome.
Oh and I will be booking my two night stay there for next years MotoGP wouldn't want to stay anywhere else There was not one thing that I did not like
- Rhona (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (8/5): Room adequate Annoying there was no breakfast availability! - Quiet with good dinner No breakfast was available except weekends Tea and coffee making facilities only not even a snack in the morning! Had to drive 6 miles to find a cafe!
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (9/5): Superb - Lovely little village pub Nothing
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional - What a wonderfully charming, traditional pub. The rooms had everything we needed. It was so peaceful and comfortable and we all had a great night's sleep. We were made to feel so welcome at arrival, having a drink in the bar and breakfast the next morning. i cannot recommend them enough.
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (7/5): Good -
- Darren (3/5): Overpriced room, would not stay again! - Dirty towels- one had pubic hair on them!
UHT milk in the room was out of date by 6 months!
Could barely get hot water out of the shower, and when the hot water started it lasted for 30 seconds!
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Marvellous
- Kim (10/5): Nothing too much trouble, great pub and people. - The landlord was so accommodating, he arranged a booking for us at a nearby pub so we could watch the tractor run easily and comfortably. He could not have done more to make our stay perfect. Great local, welcoming pub and absolutely lovely staff. Would definitely go back.
- Thomas (10/5): Nice traditional village pub. Great beer, good food and friendly and attentive staff. -

Lovely meal
- Jeanette (8/5): Nice friendly pub with excellent food - Food excellent , staff friendly location good for following day event Water pump very noisy and beds just ok
- Sian (4/5): Disappointing for £90. - Comfy bed Small room
Tiny shower room
WiFi terrible
No hairdryer
Very hot
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): Excellent place to stay, eat and drink. Very friendly. Just the perfect place. - Everything Nothing
- David (9/5): As described - an inn with rooms. Friendly staff, nice food. - Staff were friendly. Breakfast was reasonably-priced and tasty. Parking is limited to 4-5 cars but is free. I didn't have any problems parking. Room was clean. It's an old building so the floors are quite creaky. The bed was quite creaky too and could probably do with being replaced. I slept well though.
- Karina (8/5): Really lovely place, full of character, quiet and I wish I could have stayed longer - Really pretty. Great location and lovely people.
Very thoughtful owners- fan in room was a great touch. Beds were not as comfortable as I’d like.
- Andy (6/5): Okay for a short break with great food. - Location fine. We traveled by motorcycle so plenty of parking spaces for us. The Fox inn is quite an old building so you expect up and downs and quite a steepish staircase. As we paid a premium price due to the MotoGP being staged we would have liked a bit more for our money room wise. For instance our shower was either very hot or stone cold probably could do with a new one. Overall the room is what I would call fare in need of modernisation. The food in the restaurant was very nice, well presented with warm plates would eat there again if I was passing. Staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive couldn’t ask for more from them.
- Chris (9/5): Perfect - Great atmosphere,Host Johnnie and Paul top guys, food is excellent, lovely village, proper country inn.....loved it. Nothing springs to mind
- Andrew (8/5): good food nice place - room was to hot
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): OLD VILLAGE PUB WITH EXCELLENT FOOD - Pretty pub in very pleasant location within a lovely village. Staff friendly and helpful. Food well above average. Convenient parking Shower a bit dodgy. No door on the ensuite which was a novelty ! Saying that, it's an old pub so it's quirky.
- Nicola (8/5): Lovely lovely pub - highly recommend food - Friendly staff, lovely food, gorgeous location Noise from the bar overnight was quite loud
- Clinton (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Johnny the landlord was a great host, very entertaining and helpful. We were made very welcome! - The breakfast was delicious using local produce. Nothing it was lovely we would go back 👍
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Christian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicholas (7/5): Good -
- Jonathan (10/5): Great landlord ,good accommodation and super breakfast, thank you - So good to find an excellent host who was more than accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Nothing,as we always find sleeping in a different bed is strange
- Martyn (7/5): Good stay, just wanted more for the price paid. - NIce location, friendly staff Wifi kept dropping out.
TV in room was tiny.
Electric shower is poor.
Lack of parking.
- Greg (10/5): Lovely rural pub and friendly staff who ensured we were welcomed, finding us a table on a busy Saturday evening so that - Excellent food and pub. Room was nicely presented with nice teas etc. The bathroom door lock needs fixed - but I wouldn’t criticise the owners for this, as it may have been a recent issue.
- Ben (10/5): A proper welcome. Will return again. - Wonderful welcome and such a comfortable stay. Thank you Slightly dated decor but spotlessly clean and lovely comfy beds.
- Elaine (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good -

- Arca (10/5): Brilliant experience - This pub and it’s owner made our stay a very welcoming and friendly experience. The food was excellent. Myself and my friend had booked a parachute jump in the area and decided to extend our stay at the Fox Inn by an extra night. Great location to visit the beautiful countryside.
- Sykes (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (9/5): Quintessential village pub lively. - Beautiful place The rooms had a musty smell of age to them. I think t was coming from the roof.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional - A really friendly pub in a beautiful village. Great staff, lovely food, and comfy beds.
- John (8/5): Wonderful location in picture book village - Wonderful village location , helpful nice staff and owners, dinner very good and excellent modest wine list, would return The stair case to the bedrooms is very steep
- Ewelina (9/5): Superb - Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely surroundings. The village and villages nearby are charming. Cosy, family feel type of place.
- Alex (10/5): Johnny is the perfect landlord. Every moment was a pleasure. - Very friendly pub. Lovely staff, Perfect location. Comfortable room. Great food
- Guy (10/5): Excellent in every way - Good food, clean and very reasonably priced Nothing

- Rigby (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dean (7/5): Good -

- Grant (8/5): Good - Very welcoming....Great foid
- Willem (9/5): Superb - Good food , nice pup
- Anne-marie (5/5): Passable - Remote
Not well lit for a single female
Pub closed shortly after 9.
Bathroom fan disgustingly dirty and noisy
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Malcolm (9/5): A great stopover if you are going to Silverstone - Warm welcome. Great service. Lovely pub food and great beer Nothing
- Sue (8/5): Small but perfectly formed - Accommodation next to pub, staff super helpful Wasn’t sure whether they did breakfast and if it was available how to order
- Kellie (8/5): Lovely location, amazingly friendly staff - Nice quiet location, picturesque I hate to say it because everything else was lovely. But the beds need updating, it is bowing in the middle so I woke up with a pain in my lower back
- Leonard (9/5): Superb - Location, atmosphere, staff, breakfast, room size Shower pressure slightly temperamental
- Kenneth (7/5): very pleasant. - Breakfast not taken But the fish and chips in the evening was excellent ( Best we have tried anywhere in England over the last 15 years. Presentation of food was delightful.
- Malcolm (10/5): What a great pub with a cracking landlord. I was there 5 minutes and felt like one of the locals. - A lovely freshly cooked breakfast in a great location. The room was clean and the bed comfy with fresh towels. The evening meal was great, better than expected for pub grub. There is nothing I would change in this little gem.
- Yvette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (9/5): Very good - Lovely breakfast
- Nik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Quint, quirky, comfortable, well worth a visit - The room was booked as a budget room. It was comfortable quirky and had all you needed.
The bar are had been modernised but was done well with good areas. to eat and drink. A good choice of beers and wines. The menu had a good choice, the food was fresh, tasty and service good.
Johnny the owner/barman etc. Was very helpful and we were well looked after. Nothing, maybe a bit off the beaten track but that adds to it's charm
- Ian (6/5): All the the parking was taken by people drinking in the pub, shower was a dribble -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Kirstie (10/5): Keep doing what you are doing Johnny !! We loved our visit - Thank you. - Our stay was made by Johnny behind the bar. So welcoming and accommodating. And the bar is so cute ! Its tiny. Evening meal was spot on. Good wine and decent beer.
Breakfast was lovely although no beans ? Husband assures me beans with breakfast are very much a 'Northern' thing ! There was nothing to dislike. Book with confidence but be quick, as only 4 rooms, which added to the quaintness of it all.
- Mark (7/5): Good - Location and quality of food Staff attentiveness, attention to detail for evening food request and breakfast, lack of information in room of emergency numbers, wifi code etc. If you want to attract more people you need earlier breakfast.
- Richard (8/5): A comfortable overnight stay in a very pleasant pub. - Quaint and quirky pub with a small bar.
Very cosy and hosts very eager to please. Bedroom would have been unbearably hot without noisy fan on full blast.
- Julie (5/5): Passable - Clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Room was very hot. Shower had intermittent hot water. No breakfast options other than full English (no toast and marmalade or breakfast cereals as an option).
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deirdre (10/5): Lovely - We had a wonderful stay at the Fox Inn. It was set in the most gorgeous village. The facilities were charmingly rustic. Food was absolutely amazing. Our hosts Johnny and Phil couldn’t have been friendlier.
- Ian (7/5): Trip to Bicester. - Great staff, good food, good atmosphere in the bar/restaurant.
Lovely building with character.
Out of town rural setting Bed was too soft for me.
Shower pressure too low for my preference.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Diana (10/5): A really lovely place to say; I’d totally recommend it. - The location is lovely, right in the heart of Souldern which is a very pretty village.
Johnny and Paul are lovely, very friendly and Paul is an exceptional chef. Nothing was too much trouble for Johnny, he was always ready to help or make sure that we had everything we wanted.
It was my birthday when we were there and I got birthday balloons and party poppers at breakfast time!
I like the aim of reducing waste in the pub. I have a small appetite so smaller options on main meals would have been nice, and I would have liked cereals for breakfast rather than a cooked breakfast, although I understand that much of this wasn’t used and so had to be thrown away so they are reducing waste by not offering it, and the grilled tomatoes on toast were delicious.
- Tashi (9/5): Great place to crash for the night! - Breakfast was great. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating :)
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
