Guest Reviews
- amosesq (8/5): Nice place - Wonderful central location. We had a very comfortable night and an extraordinary breakfast. The 1880’s-built home is in the process of renovation (the frame of our bed was held together with a zip tie for example), and I have no doubt that as time passes, more of their projects will be completed, and they will exhibit the same good taste as the work they’ve already done.
- Maria Pia (10/5): - Location, elegant furniture, breakfast
- Carrillo (10/5): Peerfec - In was very professional we never seen anything like it Iwas the breakfast so delicious 😋
- John (Jack) (10/5): Excellent experience! - The breakfast was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. The host had thought of everything to make our stay pleasant.
- Lydia (9/5): Warm & Cozy Stay at a Lovely Victorian House - Michelle was an awesome host! Friendly, warm and quick to respond to queries. We spent one night at her lovely historic B&B filled with all sorts of stunning antiques and treasures. The breakfast was homemade, varied and delicious! Considered touches like a small floral bouquet at each beautiful antique bone china and crystal place setting really made you feel special. While our room was tight (it used to be the nursery), it was cozy and comfortable. And just outside our door was a common sitting area with a thoughtful assortment of tea, coffee, fresh fruit and sweet treats. Location was wonderful too. Close to everything. We look forward to visiting again. Thank you, Michelle, for a lovely stay. Room was very small and made it tricky to navigate around personal
belongings. Would be helpful to have a drain stopper for both the sink and bathtub.
- Heiner (9/5): -
- James (10/5): Had an enjoyable time - Location of property, History of building and unique interior finishes Nothing really
- Jessica (10/5): - Michele was the sweetest most welcoming host! The house was beautiful and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning takes your breath away. You can tell they love what they do. We will definitely be back!
- Bernadette (10/5): A charming inn beautifully furnished, and in a great location. Beautiful breakfast served in style. - A quaint inn filled with antiques. The host goes to extra effort to make her quests feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautifully set formal dining room. A truly memorable stay. Milk for coffee in the upstairs guest area.
- Henk (8/5): - Het ontbijt was geweldig.
- Etienne (10/5): -
- Valerie (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - The Bulloch House served as the location for our anniversary this year and we cannot say enough how wonderful the stay was! Gananoque itself is a fantastic vacation spot but this bed and breakfast took the cake. From the moment we arrived we were pampered with incredible service. Thank you for having such an excellent establishment and we cannot wait to visit again!
- hck55 (10/5): Very nice B&B - A nice B&B with Victorian vibes. We had a good bed and plenty of space in our room.
The breakfast is really excellent.
Sitting on the balcony was a joy.
Thank you very much, Michelle.
- Alice (10/5): Charming - Delightful bed and breakfast with beautifully appointed decor, featuring well chosen antiques and comfortable furniture. Our room was large and airy with king sized canopy bed and very large screen tv. We enjoyed a full breakfast in the morning with a couple of other guests. In all, a very pleasant experience.
- Bednarz (4/5): - The breakfast was delicious The room was cramped. The bed post obstructed the view of the TV. The room was dusty and cluttered.
- Mark (10/5): - Michelle is a great host. Our room was spacious and charming and the breakfast was excellent.
- William (9/5): -
- Hebert (10/5): - The Bulloch house is a beautiful, unique setting, and Michelle manages it like a pro! She managed our late arrival with grace, and served us a beautiful breakfast. A must see!
- Stuart (9/5): - Interesting old home. Great breakfast and host
Rien
- James (10/5): - Michelle is an amazing host and will do anything to help. Great breakfast and very friendly environment. Clean and all that good stuff as well.
- Dahlia (10/5): Charming!!! - Amazing B&B. Hostess always available for questions. Room was beautiful. Wonderful attention to detail. Breakfast amazing. Quick walk to town, restaurants, shops. Easy walk down to harbor to catch boat to short and long cruises of Thousand Islands. Absolutely a wonderful stay and highly recommend it.
- Demopoulos (10/5): Charming b&b! - Beautiful furniture and spaces. Down to the last detail even the place settings for breakfast.
- Jbaxter2100 (8/5): - Beautiful building. Nice antiques great breakfast. Great hostess The room was too small. Super small. We had no place even to open suitcase p
- John Leo (8/5): Lovely Building. - Breakfasts were excellent. Could have been hoovered better in my room. Lots of long black hair on bathroom floor.
- Barbara (9/5): Sentirsi come a casa - Soluzione molto carina a Gananoque, villetta indipendente che i proprietari hanno reso B&B.
Poche camere e tutto molto curato, ospitalità eccezionale.
- Penelope (10/5): Lovely traditional B&B. - Beautiful old building full of antiques in a great location near attractions & restaurants. The owner was very welcoming & put great effort into serving breakfast. Guests eat together in formal dining room so can share stories. Everything was good.
- Frederik (9/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Love the house and the room furnishings. Beautiful area very walkable. Breakfast was amazing. Definitely worth the visit.
- G5515ESmarcs (6/5): Pictures are deceiving.House should be leveled and rebuilt. - Hostess and breakfast were wonderful.
Room and surrounding spaces were awful. Pictures do not accurately show space with chipped paint throughout, holes in floor filled with aluminum foil. Outdoor space was uninhabitable and back and side yards were not mowed in weeks or months. Bathroom floor was filthy and furniture was worn and threadbare.
Rien
- gerardgC3407CE (10/5): Highly Recommended - We loved the Bulloch House B&B; Great location; Spacious rooms, all furnished with nice antique pieces; Great breakfasts; All managed by the ever gracious and helpful hostess Michelle. We really enjoyed our 5 night stay here.
- Brian (10/5): - Our room was comfortable, spacious and cozy. The breakfast each morning was well planned out, varied, and filling! I can't say enough positives about our three night stay.
- Dana (6/5): - Sehr gute Lage. Außergewöhnlich antikes Haus. Sehr nette Gastgeberin.
Eigentlich nichts
- JEAII (6/5): - Good location. Breakfast was good overall with a nice presentation. Host was pleasant and helpful. Main issue was there were no bikes available as promised by booking.com. I was told the bikes were broken the week before our visit. This was a big deal for us as it was promised and we like to explore towns on bike when visiting. Breakfast was maybe a touch slight. Small smoothie, small bowl of steel oats, small fruit cup, 3 half slices of french toast and only one sausage link. Our view from our room into the back yard of the property reminded me of a junk yard
- William (10/5): The Best of the Best in B&B Experience - The hostess Michelle is exceptionally friendly and inviting. She made us really feel at home. The breakfast was phenomenal and served in a 'fine dining' atmosphere. Guest Lounge upstairs was equipped with snacks, bottled water and tea/coffee free of charge. Historic house with lots of old-world charm. This B&B experience was first rate.
- Mason (8/5): Great room comfy bed, walking distance to restaurant and Playhouse. - Lovely room, great big veranda, superb breakfast, friendly hostess who was very helpful. Yard and exterior of building need upkeep work, appears they are having that done by some contractors.
- Jeannie (10/5): Beautiful Experience With Amazing Breakfast - This place was amazing! We stayed in the King Suite, entire 3rd floor. Ot was extremely clean and well maintained. We had everything we needed. The king bed was so comfortable! The location is fantastic, we could walk everywhere. The town is so worth a stop. Michelle’s breakfast experience is a must! Thank you so much. It is a very old home yet kept up extremely well! If I have to pick something it would be the stairs but they were to be expected. Know you’ll be hauling your stuff up many stairs.
- Prudence (8/5): - We were treated well and the host was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden Gem - Amazing place, beautiful surroundings. The host was amazing, checking to see when I arrived down to every details for breakfast. Breakfast was top drawer (amazing)
- Patrick (8/5): Superbe - Accueil chaleureux Tout était parfait
- William (9/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): Interesting period house. Excellent breakfast. -
- Allen (10/5): - Very charming B&B. Attentive host. Beautiful rooms. Wonderful town in the 1000 Islanda area with lots to do. Would definitely stay again..
- chantal (10/5): -
- elenatE5257KW (10/5): Beautiful Bulloch House experience - Took a trip with my husband to the beautiful small town of Gananaque, we spent 3 wonderful days in the historic B&B Bulloch House that is filled with beautiful antiques.
Michele the owner of the house was wonderful from the moment we booked arrived and left, always there when you need her and always with a waiting smile.
We stayed in the Bulloch suite which was charming and very comfortable. Michele served us a full breakfast each morning.
The town was exactly what we needed, quiet beautiful and filled with people that stopped and spoke with us. A hello or good morning truly was genuine along with the smiles that came with it.
We are anxious to return make more beautiful memories and definitely stay at the Bulloch House again.
Thank you again Michele for your hospitality and the birthday cake surprise
- Maya (10/5): - We like this charming bread and breakfast full of antiques and the location was conveniently located, breakfast was phenomenal and the owner, Michele, was an amazing host!
- Michelle (10/5): - Gorgeous B&B right in Gananoque. Walkable to the waterfront and all the little shops and restaurants. The home is perfectly decorated with tasteful antiques and Michele cooks the loveliest breakfasts! Will be back.
- Barry and Peggy (10/5): - The Owner was fabulous and her breakfast meals were delicious. Definitely going back
- John (10/5): - Just spent 3 nights at the Bulloch house. A very charming home, furnished in history with lovely antiques and stained glass throughout. We stayed in the Godfrey suite that we found spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed the balcony from our suite. Breakfast each morning was an event, an elegant dining room, a lavish presentation served with beautiful china and lovely decor. The food would rival any five star restaurant. Michele is the perfect hostess. The house could use a touch up here and there, but that did not detract from the overall charm. The location of the property was ideally situated for our visit to Gananoque. Thank you for a wonderful visit
- Catherine (10/5): This is a B&B well worth staying at. - It is very difficult to get healthy breakfasts while on the road. I was delighted to be met with an exceptionally healthy breakfast. It was a great way to start a long day. It is amazing how Michelle can make "healthy" taste so delicious...especially the soaked steel-cut oats!
Our host greeted us warmly when we arrived and made us feel right at home. We were in the Petite Kroeg Room, and although small, it met met all our needs for for our one night stay. The bed was ultra-comfortable and gave us a good night's sleep.
The entire house is tastefully decorated with antiques, very appropriate for this area of Ontario historically important to Canada in the 19th century.
Breakfast with the other guests turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay. Anyone with real difficulty in climbing stairs would struggle to get to their room, if it weren't for the gracious help that we recieved.
- Sally (7/5): - Location and owner Bathroom interesting and generally felt a little unclean perhaps due to the antique nature of the house and furnishings
- Panderson6455 (10/5): A wonderful experience at the Bulloch House. - Just spent 3 nights at the Bulloch house. - Maria (10/5): What a Gem! - Great location, friendly staff. Outstanding breakfast, perfect variety of courses with just the right sized servings.
- Lisa (8/5): -
- victoriab556 (10/5): A Romantic Anniversary Getaway - We stayed in the Trés Petite Kroeg Room which was very tiny but cute. It suited us well because we like to explore the place we are visiting and not sit in our room. The bed was very comfy.
Michele was very sweet and accommodating. The breakfasts were awesome, the table was beautifully set with our names, and served on antique china. Michele explained each breakfast which she made herself. It was fun to sit with another 3 couples and share travel adventures and the places where we were all travelling from.
The house is also located in an excellent location. We were able to walk to the canal, parks, the Playhouse on the River, restaurants, etc. Some reviews said that the house was old, dingy and cluttered. However, they may not have realized that the house is a historical building and also an antique showroom. Her husband deals in antiques and everything in the house is actually for sale.
We actually felt like we had gone back a hundred years and were part of the "gentry". haha!
Thank you, Michele, for an enjoyable stay.
- jeannie (10/5): - Beautiful Victorian home. Host was lovely.
- Bogdan Tudorancea (10/5): -
- Diana (9/5): -
- Erin (10/5): - Wonderful bed and breakfast in a house with a lot of history and a lot of antiques that are actually for sale. English breakfast was so adorable. Owners very accommodating and informative. Area was fun to visit. Definitely wish we had more time there.
- Chris (10/5): - Friendly welcome, quiet residential area. Good facilities and a old fashioned quirky feel that makes this B&B special.
Lovely breakfast, well recommended
- Mary (7/5): We had a pleasant stay but noticed the lack of good cleaning. - The Bulloch House is a lovely old house in a nice, quiet and convenient location. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. The full breakfast was very good and included fresh fruit, healthy steel cut oats and french toast served in beautiful antique dishes. The bathroom was clean, but the sink had a rusted, very slow drain. The shower door rattled loudly in its loose track and the toilet seat was very loose. The cleaning service could be directed to dust and vacuum more extensively.
- 375shilap (6/5): Nice host but bed & breakfast was not for us - This is a difficult review to write because we’re acutely aware that the B&B is the owners business & livelihood - and we don’t want to jeopardise that. However, we have personally relied on review websites when booking accommodations therefore feel obliged to give our honest account for other travellers.
So here goes….
The house is located in a lovely street very close to the harbour and town.
On entering the house our first impressions were slightly concerning as it’s nothing like the bright, airy & clutter free rooms the photos depict on the websites.
And on arrival, Michelle the owner was pleasant and helpful in nature.
She took our tea / coffee / juice order for breakfast for our stay and she also asked if we had dietary restrictions - but there was no menu.
She also helped us out greatly when we locked ourselves out of our car by giving us the use of her phone to call the recovery service and liaised on our behalf with the company - we bought her a bottle of wine as a thank you but had to leave it with her husband as she wasn’t available after our breakfast and checkout.
Regrettably we feel we still have to deduct 2 stars though :
One for the breakfast - it was poor quality and there was no choice, you have to have what Michelle gives you. Ten of us sat around a large table. Our first days breakfast consisted of a small smoothie shot, carton juice, few pieces of fruit, soaked oats & 3 half slices of soft ‘french toast’ with maple syrup and a pencil thin fatty sausage. Our second days breakfast was as above except we were given a dense egg soufflé with a small side of tomato relish instead of the ‘french toast’. And half of a croissant - never ever have we seen this before, we understand the importance of not having food waste but we weren’t offered any more or given any accompanying jams etc, it just felt economical & presumptuous that everyone likes egg soufflé as much as Michelle does?
We realise its Michele’s B&B and she can serve what she likes but she charges a lot of money so has to accept that her guests around the table were not complimentary about the taste & lack of choice, one couple said they weren’t bothering to have breakfast the next day and preferred to get something on the road!
We felt as a minimum just simple toast / croissant & egg, or fruit, yogurt & breakfast cereal should be on offer & it would be healthier.
Michelle said the soaked oats given to us on both days was homemade but we still felt she should ask if it’s wanted or to our taste?
Some people left it but they were too polite at the time to say anything or write reviews.
In short our opinion is that breakfast should be more about the food & service and not the crockery sets and table settings.
There were a few packaged biscuits and tea/coffee left on the first floor for people to help themselves but we didn’t.
We have deducted another star for our room, yes the room was large, it had a balcony and loungers but we were in the area to explore and not relax in the room and unfortunately there was just too much dust, decorative bed pillows and the sheets & pillow cases just didn’t smell fresh - a personal inspection of the rooms is a must prior to guests staying.
This is constructive feedback and we hope Michelle takes it on board in the helpful manner it is meant.
We would have been happy to share this with her but unfortunately she wasn’t there on our departure.
- Amelia (6/5): - Michelle was very welcoming. Amazing old house in need of some attention.

- Kapil (10/5): - Had a fantastic stay at 1000 Islands B&B – The Bulloch House in Gananoque last weekend! The host was wonderful, and the breakfast was thoughtfully crafted with a delightful personal touch. Highly recommend! 🌟🍳✨
- E8002XHsoniaj (8/5): Quirky, unconventional, good value - It’s a really unusual experience and we loved it but it might not be everyone’s taste if you’re looking for slick, modern or conventional accommodation.
Somewhere between staying in a wonderfully quirky wood panelled home with a warm host, and an antique emporium. Seeing other comments, we agree it did feel a tired in parts, but we felt it was good value for money and delivered more character than many other places we started. It definitely has a lot of ‘objects d’art’ or clutter, depending on your view. BUT it also had a beautiful dining room, a breakfast spread like no other and overall was utterly unique and in a great location. It made our visit to Gananoque even more special and we talk about it still.
- Mike (9/5): Incredible... that sums it up perfectly!!! - We love this place, we return every year as a little get away. The atmosphere is relaxing and elegant. The main hostess is incredible. We can stay forever lol
- Roz (6/5): - Great location. Gracious host. Beautiful home. Good breakfast. Chilly. Needed deeper cleaning.
- Serguei (8/5): - Superb customer care, special thanks to Michelle:)
- Sarah Jane (10/5): - We had an excellent stay at the Bulloch House Bed and Breakfast! The rooms were big, beautiful, and full of charm. The entire house is steeped in history, and one of the most unique aspects is the antique store built right into the home. It’s filled with stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces—each with a story behind it.
Michelle was a wonderful host. She took the time to explain the fascinating history of the house, as well as many of the art pieces and antiques throughout. Her passion and knowledge really brought everything to life.
Breakfast was absolutely delightful—healthy, delicious, and more than enough to satisfy us.
I highly recommend this gem of a place and will definitely be back!
- Heather (10/5): - The property is very cool. Loved the breakfast experience. We visited in January, would love to see it in the summer!
- Lorenzo (10/5): Eccezionale, un piccolo gioiello! - Letto comodissimo e colazione fantastica.

- Jet21087611748 (6/5): Not a 5 star B&B - The owner was very nice and helpful. This B&B is located in a decent residential area close to restaurants and shops. The breakfast, both presentation and taste were excellent. Our room had water damage as well as mold in the bathroom. It was also not very clean. The baseboard were dusty as was the headboard.
- MissR1ce (10/5): Authentic experience! Lovely host! Would book again - We had a fantastic experience staying here. Lovely host who made a wonderful breakfast. The place is full antiques and it’s just lovely and quaint. We did the 1000 islands trip and it was stunning. We also heard a cool ghost story from the host. Would definitely stay here again!
- Jason (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay! Would highly recommend!
- William (6/5): - Unique good breakfast. Nighttime parking in overgrown back yard. Owners helpful. Some issues in bathroom/shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Historic - Cute historic B&B centrally located. Host was wonderful and the breakfast was very good both in taste & presentation. The room was ok, but it was not very clean and there was noticeable deferred maintenance.
- Vasyl (9/5): Just staying in this place is already enough reason to visit Gananoque - Antique, antique everywhere. General atmosphere of elegance and nice historical vibe. The host is amazing - she did make us feel like de are guests in a fancy home and not BnB. The breakfast was magical - and sets a perfect mood for whole day. no ventilation in washroom - but it’s an old house with preserved as much as possible atmosphere, so not sure if it’s a bad thing
- Alexandra (10/5): 11/10, no notes, amazing - So warm, so comfy, and the breakfast each day was superb!! The B&B is located a block away from the main road, and was the perfect location. The host was so lovely and accomodating, and was always ready with some excellent ideas and suggestions for the activities we were planning on doing.
- Poppy (10/5): - Our two night stay at The Bulloch House in July was glorious. It is a beautiful old property with some amazing antiques throughout. The room was unique with awesome decorations and a great balcony to relax on. Breakfast was incredible.
We came to the area to tour the 1000 islands. This was the perfect location to catch the ferry on a cruise. The town itself is cute and has some wonderful places to eat.
I would highly recommend staying here!
