• David (10/5): - our room had an spectacular view of the whole city and was elegantly appointed with excellent amenities. They told us the hotel is in a soft opening (brand new). The staff is genuinely friendly and very attentive, They did not charge us our early check-in and that was a big plus. The rooftop offers spectacular views that take your breath away. Breakfast was included and probably was the best, most complete and upscale breakfast I've had in a while

The rooms are designed to have a quick stay in for a night while traveling. Breakfast it’s good, comfy bed, AC it’s great, water doesn’t get completely hot & does not have much pressure but im fine on that. Hopefully they’ll be able to add internet/wifi coverage to all rooms, I enjoyed getting work done on their roof.

With a swimming pool in the courtyard, a restaurant upfront, next to the city's main thoroughfare yet quiet, not far from the historic center and some wonderful neighborhood restaurants. The room I got was a bit tight and windowless but cute, great bed, extraordinary bathroom. No complains. I'd do it again.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is perfectly situated close to many restaurants and located in one of the safest neighborhood in Santo Domingo. It is less than 1 block away from the Malecón of Santo Domingo and a short taxi ride to all tourist attractions. The room was adequate in side for 2 people and although the housekeeping took until the late afternoon to clean the room, it was always done very well. This is a small hotel with a small pool in the rear and has a quaint feeling, without lacking luster. The only shortcomings were minor. Breakfast is served outdoors, which for a tropical location is no big deal, unless it rains. The hallways echo sounds, which can be disruptive since not all guests have common sense to be quiet at late hours. Perhaps the hotel would be better if they offer earplugs to guests who want more quiet at night. We always travel with our own and the noise did not bother us during the night, but I can see how it could be an issue to some. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The hotel does not offer currency exchange. We would stay again.

Room was ready and clean, everything was exactly as promised . TV is a bit small and the quality of image a bit poor but we watched a movie in my computer and it was great. Due to curfew the outside restaurant was closed so we ordered some pasta with room service , it was delivered within minutes and it was warm and delicious. In the morning, we had breakfast, which was included and. It was very delicious , I had seen several comments about the delicious omelets and indeed we ordered one and it was very very good!!! In our overall experience we would recommend it and repeat it as many times as possible! Oh. And also super important the location of these hotel it’s amazing super close to everything and one block from the ocean (malecón).

Just off the main drag (George Washington Avenue) about two miles west of center city, so you can drive in or take the metro. Easy to park on the street. Gorgeous building designed to mimic a castle, with artwork on the walls. Great breakfast in their outdoor dining area included in room rate. Friendly and helpful staff.

• Dakarai (4/5): Cat-fished, not as expected - I feel cat-fished by my experience at the Muaud Hotel - there are most definitely some misleading photos and reviews posted online for this property. While the staff was friendly and the hotel was conveniently situated near the Malecon and the Colonial Zone, I was disappointed to discover my room had no windows, none! The daily breakfast was not very appetizing and was fly infested. The neighbors were engaged in noisy construction projects which made sitting outside unpleasant. Would not recommend.

I was able to walk to two casinos and a night club. The customer service was great! They have reasonably priced really good local lunch and dinner there. This hotel is now my hotel when I come to Santo Domingo. This hotel has a great price point. It is built like a castle so I had a room without a window and I didn't care at all. I love this place! ALSO they have bilingual staff.

• wooa433 (8/5): Quirky Hotel - We arrived in Santo Domingo on the local bus from Punta Cana. The bus stop is about 10 minuets walk from the hotel (not worth getting a taxi). The room was cosy, clean and on the first floor. There are no lifts so if stairs are an issue, there are quite a few. During our stay we had a new mattress delivered, which was great. However, there did not appear to be anything wrong with the existing one. There is an enclosed pool area to the back of the hotel, which was very clean and well looked after. Not too sure I would call this hotel boutique , more quirky. The eating area is outside, which is great other than it is on the main road. Breakfast was very good and the chef was more than happy to cater for your requests. It is conveniently situated for town and in the evenings quiet and safe to wonder around the area.

The improvements I would recommend would be new mattresses, an insect free eating environment and more consistent hot water for showers. If I travel to the Dominican Republic again, I will gladly stay at the Mauad Hotel.

However, it’s not comfortable enough to endure more than three nights there. I’d recommend it for business travelers. If you are planning a family vacation look somewhere else.
• peteroL31 (10/5): Gorgeous Hotel - This is a beautiful hotel in Gasque one of the most beautiful areas of Santo Domingo. It is close to the Malecon. The Malecon is lined with palm trees and runs along the ocean. It contains many brand name hotels. Breakfast is included with your stay. It is served by a woman on a beautiful covered patio. There is lots to eat including fresh local fruit. The room was very spacious with two beds. Their is a beautiful swimming pool behind the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and is built inside a castle. There are only approximately 160 rooms.

• Glasgow3016 (6/5): There is no Spa or Wellness - We went there for the claim of having a Spa and Wellness at the hotel. This is very misleading. The Spa ia a shower jet in the bathroom which did not work. Only the overhead fountain worked. The "pol" in the garden is a kids plunge and not possible to use at midday because there is no shade and very hot.
• aelamir (10/5): Peaceful Sanctuary - This is a gem of a hotel. The Hotel is made to resemble a castle. And I really felt I was treated like a princess. The entire staff, from the owner to the housekeeping personnel was friendly and professional. It was very quiet and I felt very safe. I was looking for a clean and peaceful place to stay and the Mauad fulfilled all my needs. And on the other hand, it was close to all types of attractions and restaurants.

• E-REX (6/5): - I've stayed here several times and I've noticed that the rooms upstairs are better than the ones downstairs. The bed in my downstairs room was uncomfortable and there was a problem with the movable shower head. The housekeepers are very good and the breakfast is also very good.

• forapound (4/5): Very average - This place is disappointing. The rooms are very small and dirty. One room had someones fake nails in the corner, the other had hair everywhere including the sheets. The showers hardly work; the water fluctuated from boiling hot to freezing at a very low pressure making showering almost impossible. And the spa part is non existent. Yes there is a pool with pretty dirty water and dangerously slippery steps.. but dont expect to find anything resembling a spa. Finally, while it advertises being close to the zona colonial, you're still a good 10 minute uber away (dont bother walking as its half an hour and you have to negotiate the persistently terrible traffic) That said the staff were generally friendly and helpful. But I'm pretty sure there are much better, cleaner and better equipped places to stay in Santo Domingo as this place only precipitated our exit out of town to the Samaná peninsula (which was no bad thing having arrived up north!)

That he will call and confirm that! but while they recharged me the day of the hotel to my card ?? Please i wanna resolve this problem ASAP Reverse the amount that take from me because i DON’T stay on that Hotel!

• ThomasGerminator (10/5): A locally owned beautiful hotel with wonderful staff - This is a true local gem. I have stayed here now on three different occasions and spend here far over 20 nights total in different rooms. The entire staff is very courteous and friendly. The owners of this place are amazing and you may have a chance to meet them and talk to them if you stay long enough. Every room I have stayed at is beautiful and the bathrooms are tasteful and clean. They expanded their rooms and now they serve the complimentary breakfast from about 6:30 am to 11:00 in the front outside (covered) in the front of the hotel (see pictures). Now they also serve some drinks in the evening and have a limited menu at night. Also Adrian, a local restaurant featuring typical Dominican Food and great tropical drinks is only a 100m walk away. The hotel will also order take out for you for a small charge (about 100 DOP or so). I recommend tipping the people when there is opportunity. When I am there with my significant other I leave a$2 or 3$ tip for the serving stuff and $5 to make up the room. People in the Dominican Republic make little money and a little tipping goes a long way. If we all tip even just a little their lives are impacted positively. People make many times less than $150 a month. Being kind goes a long way. Patience is also important when receiving room cleaning service. There is little staff for the entire hotel, but they are dedicated. You also receive a generous value compared to other hotels in the area. If you need all the amenities there are typical hotels around, but this place really offers everything.

• Thomas (10/5): A beautiful Gem to stay at. - I had stayed two 5 night stays at this hotel and it is a Gem in the area. The hotel expanded the number of rooms and expanded its seating area out to the front under a beautiful canopy with chandelier lighting. Staff is super friendly, helpful and courteous. This family owned hotel is a Santo Domingo gem, includes a very nice Dominican style breakfast with also evening offerings in an evening romantic setting. in the rear is a beautiful pool isolated from the city in a mostly unexpected beautiful quiet setting.

Die Zimmer sind sauber, gemuehtlich und schoenem Bad. Insgesamt tolle Lage und der Colonial Distrikt ist nur ein oaar kilometer vom Hotel. Kann nur empfehlen. Restaurants (Adrians) in 100 meter 'Entfernung' fuer ein Dominikanisches Abendessen oder Mittagstisch. Nicht teuer. Super.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - The fact that the frontal facade was like a castle makes it unique. Staff was excellent, friendly and extremely helpful and responded immediately to any of our needs. Breakfast was awesome and plentiful.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is well located across from the Malecon and within walking distance of the old town. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was updated. Breakfast was included but it was basic with few options nonetheless, it was was okay for the price. The only thing I didn't like was that my room was a bit small and didn't have a view. In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel for persons looking for an affordable room in a decent, well located hotel. I have no problem staying here again
• Jorge (10/5): - The whole staff was friendly and provided excellent service. After I had checked out and was waiting for my ride, one of the employees asked me if I was going to have breakfast. When I mentioned I didn't have enough time, she fixed me a sandwich in minutes, right before my ride arrived. The only thing that needs improvement is the shower water pressure, but that's not a deal breaker to me. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a small but beautiful hotel in a quiet area just a short walk to many great places. Service was better than what i was expecting. We had a great experience here, it was memorable. Excellent staff and very friendly, breakfast was fresh and delicious, it has a nice outside dining area for breakfast or to relax at night. Parking is not private but on street with security. I would recommend .The only inconvenient was no much hot water, runs out after a minute. WE LOVED IT!!!

• 64nada (4/5): Nice hotel, but their drivers need to be better vetted - I stayed here alone, the hotel was nice but not quite 4* nice. The rooms have no views because the hotel is right between two buildings. My room had a view on the pool, but i couldn't open the blinds as it was on the 1st floot. Luis from the front was particularly helpful. Breakfast was nice. One incident stands out thought: I arrived on Saturday afternoon, and asked the front desk for the closest office of change. I was told the hotel had a driver that could take me there for free and then drop me off at a restaurant for lunch. The driver, abab, was drinking while driving, and refused to take me to the restaurant after the office of change. Instead, he took me to a monument even though I repeatedly asked him not to and then took me to his house where he asked me for about $80. He kept repeatedly saying that I smelled good (?) And at one point even touched my hair. As a woman travelling alone, this was a really frightening experience. After reporting him and what happened to the front desk upon my return to the hotel, he was still around the next day and I doubt that they did anything about it. If you do stay here, do not use their drivers, just book an uber it will be cheaper and safer.

• TebahJaffe (2/5): HOTEL NOT UP TO STANDARDS AT ALL - I booked 3 nights at the Hotel Mauad Boutique & Spa from Aug-22 to Aug-25: to resume, the room was very dirty, I had to call the staff twice to have it decently cleaned ( I found hair everywhere on the floor in the bedroom and bathroom), the shower was broken in the first room they gave me and then completely blocked by limestone in the shower holes in the second room. I had to call a third time to have it cleaned. There are NO JACUZZI, NO BAR (the hotel does not serve alcohol at all), NO RESTAURANT (you can a "continental" breakfast but no lunch or dinner). In my room, the telephone was broken all along and despite their four attempts they could not repair it. The food is extremely mediocre but no more than on the rest of the island, but not up to international standards for sure (among which no natural juices, everything has added sugar). The bed are not good as you sink in when you sleep. There is no chest or drawers of any kind in some rooms. The mini-bar is basically two bottles of water. There is NO SPA: the spa consists in a lady that comes massage you in your room. Finally, I didn't dip a toe in the pool because it was dirty and the water was cloudy. Despite all of that, I would add that the personel is very helpful and dedicated, smiling and trying to please you at all times, my belief is that they just don't know how to run an hotel.

• EileenO (10/5): - I loved loved * the staff, the General Manager and Front Desk staff were so so helpful, kind, polite and amazeballs; specially Alis and another amazing senior gentlemen that unfortunately I forgot his name ): The only inconvenient was my designated phone on my nightstand didn't work from day 2 until I left the premises a few days later, also the cleaning services staff did not cleaned my room on my first day, I believe it might of been my mistake cause I did not left the room that day. Other than that it is a perfect little cozy hotel to stay for a business trip or if you are not staying for a long time. For non natives/Dominicans background, I advise to pay attention to your surroundings when stepping outside, because although the area used to be nice and safe/bougie back in the day lol at the moment it has changed a bit, if you are not native, you must be careful when stepping out due to being exposed to the rest of the city and not staying in a "inclusive hotel"- just and FYI. Perfect hotel for business/short trip to DR's capital.
• Chris (10/5): - This property is beautiful. It is not deluxe accommodations, but the service was better than what i would expect for a deluxe place. We arrived in the evening and left in the morning, so our stay was short, but my experience here was so good, it will be memorable. Excellent staff, friendly people everywhere, and a delicious and large breakfast. It was also very affordable.

Staff is extremely polite and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. The hallways are decorated with lots of beautiful paintings. We were impressed with the daily breakfast buffet which differs daily, is fresh and has something for everyone, i.e., mangu, mashed potatoes, pancakes, French toast, cheeses, cereal, eggs, toast, juices and fresh fruit, etc. We enjoyed every aspect of this hotel and plan to return in the future.

• JMG (10/5): - The staff are the best I’ve experienced anywhere, they are always friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable and in a good location. My room was comfortable and always clean. The included breakfast is delicious and they have a nice variety. I had stayed at Mauad Hotel previously and they have converted the front of the hotel from a water feature into a covered outdoor restaurant. I was not able to enjoy the new restaurant yet because it is in the process of opening, but I hope I will get to eat there when I go back for my third stay. Hotel Mauad is not the biggest hotel, but to me it’s part of what makes it special to me and I appreciate the personal care I received from the staff, who go out of their way to help customers whenever they are asked. I will continue to stay at Hotel Mauad and I look forward to my next vacation in the Dominican Republic.
