- brian (4/5): - Unfortunately, my experience at the hotel was disappointing. The carpet in the room was visibly dirty and stained, which gave the space an unclean feeling from the start. Additionally, the air conditioning did not work, making it very uncomfortable, especially at night. I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance. I hope management takes these issues seriously and improves the conditions for future guests.

- richardhR7993WF (4/5): A once upon a hotel. Now aged with poor service - As you enter, you are amazed by the beautiful lobby. Unfortunately it starts to go downhill quickly after that. We checked into our first room on floor six, the whole hotel stank of cigarette smoke and the carpets were worn and the walls were dirty. As soon as we got to our room we asked to be moved to a floor which had a no smoking policy throughout the whole floor. We managed to get a new room and yes they are large, with a decent bathroom (nice shower) and bedroom (mattresses were comfy enough). However in the morning we asked for a porter, which never came and the reception staff were not helpful in the slightest when trying to organise a taxi to the airport. We deliberately choose this hotel due to the shuttle service but they said when we arrived only certain times now function, so be aware. I think this hotel was a “once upon a time” hotel and has just aged really badly. Would not return.

- Mark Anthony (4/5): - Location was not good unless you are using it for a 1 night stay before heading to the airport. Restaurant was not good at all. I took the managers recommendation, two bites in and I asked for the bill. Tasted bad/old. Had supper and breakfast from the vending machine. Bar - there was nobody working there so I asked the front desk if it was open, they said yes the restaurant staff will come serve me. Nobody came. There was a sign in the elevator for a lounge on one of the top floors, decided to take a look. When I got there the door was locked with chains, then all the lights on the floor went out. Pitch black!!! Luckily I had my cell for some light. In the morning I asked the front desk if they had any recommendations for something to do in the area, they just said “sorry sir, our hotel is not a good location to do anything” and just shrugged her shoulders. I took a 40 minute taxi to get to the closest place to do some shopping/sight seeing. Reserved and paid for 2 nights, left after one, it was just too inconvenient to do anything.

The air conditioner was blowing air but not cold air. Our room stayed at a balmy 77 degrees f. I will say, they did try to change our room but the air conditioner was not cool. It was a hotel wide issue. The manager understood and offered us free dinner buffet. He was very nice and professional. Ask questions directly to the hotel before booking. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. They judt need to grt the pool and air ip and running properly.

And more food options for Westerners please! Convenient free airport shuttle was on time but driver didn't offer any help with loading/ unloading luggage!
- Sarju (6/5): okay hotel 15 mins drive from the airport - its an okay hotel 15 mins drive to the Pudong Airport. No-one speaks English, i know we are in China and i wouldn't expect everyone to speak English, but no one does. So make sure you have a translation app installed on your phone. Restaurant is only open till 8.30pm for full menu, restricted menu there after till 10pm the SPA only had one person working so if there are more then one of you you will have to wait. Oh and the massage was terrible. very average stay for a 5 star.... its actually a 4 star in my opinion.

It was the staff who were the issue.

Missing dining options , better coffee-shop and definitely in urgent need for a small shop / mart I met nice educated staff and the Hotel manager was very professional and helpful but they need to place better English speaking personal at the reception ALL the times.

However, the masseur from the spa was atrocious. She cames in with a black face probably not happy she was called upon to work. Half the time she was playing with her handphone while using the other hand to do some light press. I really wonder how such a nice hotel end up employing such horrible worker.

- Jai_Hingorani (10/5): Good Choice for Airport proximity. - I stay a couple of times per year in the other Primus which is in Hongqiao area. My expectations were hence very high. However, this hotel is although 5 star standard but nothing in comparison to their Hongqiao branch. As per the location, it is very close to the Pudong airport. A Taxi ride would take you around 12 minutes and 35 RMB. The hotel itself is in a very secluded area and mostly the drivers don't know how to get there. Keep a GPS handy. In the night it might be unsafe for lonely traveller as it is quite dark and secluded place. The Check-in process was smooth. The rooms are good but not very well soundproofed. If you stay in the rooms on the back side of the hotel (overseeing the Xube hotel) you will be disturbed constantly by the sound of the flights taking off. Prefer to take the rooms overseeing the sea and you will be okay. The AC in the rooms dont work. I changed my room due to the aeroplane noices and in both I realized that the AC wouldnt actually blow cold air. No matter how low I set the temp, only air was being circulated and the room temp continued to be around 25 degrees. The mini bar is kept empty. The restaurant that caters breakfast and the lunch is quite good. The breakfast spread is very vast and the lunch menu quite good as well. The food I must say is of exceptional quality. The hotel website shows a shopping area and a spa in the facility which is actually not present yet. Overall a good hotel, but due to it being too far away and totally secluded I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. If I have to stay closer to the airport then certainly there are other hotels much closer to the airport. Communicating anything in English to any staff is a real challenge.

- rtwhow (8/5): Excellent Value for Money near PVG Airport - The hotel was well-chosen for an overnight between flights to/from PVG. Rooms are spacious & luxurious, with lovely marble bathrooms. Beds are very comfortable- unlike some other airport properties, this one actually is 5-star, & value was excellent. Drawbacks are that rooms weren't 100% soundproof, & we were woken up by flights departing nearby Pudong airport. Service in the restaurant is also very slow.

Shuttle bus to Pudong Airport is a plus to anyone who are in transit for morning flight. It takes around 10-15 minutes drive only. However, staff is very inefficient in English conversation. Very few staff can speak or understand English. There are 3 hotels in the same vicinity, hence it is a confused for taxi driver to go to the right hotel. My taxi driver drove to Qube Hotel which is another building.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - I used the Primus Hotel for a 24 hour layover at the Shanghai airport. It's a luxurious hotel with comfortable rooms. Not all the employees spoke English but they would direct me to someone who could. All were helpful and polite. One resourceful employee even tried a phone app which translated my question to Chinese and his answer to English and it worked for simple questions. The water flow in the shower would be illegally high in the USA. The light switches were fixed but wireless. My powered drapes did no work, though. Safety features included a flashlight and smokemask with air filter to protect your eyes and lungs in case of fire. Breakfast was buffet or room service. The buffet was 125 yuan but worth it just for the wide selection of food. I used Orbitz local language hotel name and address but the taxi took me to the nearby Qube hotel. There we got further instructions to reach the Primus. The taxi fare was 40 yuan. The front desk has the schedule for a free bus back to the airport. General Information: In terminal 1, the "transit without visa" is booth 2 at immigration. Look for the 24 hour sign. Don't get in big line with most other visitors. Form to fill out is in a lucite box on wall. Needs usual entry stuff plus hotel name, address and phone number. Entering this online ahead of time failed as airport machine was broken. Form given on plane was not needed. Changing money outside the baggage claim area is less bad than inside. I got 647 yuan after 40 yua

- sweetville (10/5): Beautiful Hotel and excellent rooms - Stayed here for one overnight before flying on from Pudong airport. Truly beautiful hotel with some of the nicest open public areas i have ever seen. The designers did a superb job on the public areas. Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. For a one night stay it is a great experience. Hotel is part of a three hotel complex with Primus being the highest rated. I went to both of the other hotels for a little walk in the complex and they looked superb as well. The room really was faultless and designed and built with great taste it was just a lovely room to spend some time in even if it was for just one night. One downside is that it is really in the middle of nowhere - showing the address to the taxi driver at Pudong airport didn't help so I had to call the hotel and they guided the taxi driver in. The fact is that it is only about 10-12 minutes from the airport but my driver was totally confused. Not so when it came to the price it turned out he had not switched on his meter and so demanded 100 RMB which in the end I gave him but I couldn't believe I fell for that old trick Anyway I took a photograph of his taxi number which didn't please him at all and I asked the reception if they could do anything about it but they just shrugged and said nothing could be done. The reverse journey in a taxi called by the hotel and making sure the meter was on was 50 RMB so the Pudong driver had been at it so anyone going by taxi to the hotel make sure you are OK with the meter the journey should not be more than 50 or 60 RMB There is really nothing close to the hotel and anyway it was a brief stopover so it was a case of enjoying the comfort of a beautiful room at a decent price. I paid $80 for the room for the one night and with my two taxi rides from and to the Pudong airport coming to 150 RMB (another $25) overall the nights stay was $105 and the quality was superb for that money. The buffet at night was only average but still tasty enough and as it was only the one night more than adequate. Not sure what I would do if I were staying there for a few nights that might be a bit more challenging but for one night pretty decent. The only thing is there is a real shortage of staff who speak good English so communication is a bit of a strain but having said that the staff were so polite and helpful they couldn't be faulted. Without a shadow of a doubt if i have to have a stopover in Pudong again it will definitely be at the Primus.
- Jodesandjojo (10/5): Very glamourous! - So we initially booked to stay at Qube Hotel but upon check in we were told we had been upgraded to Primus as there was a Jazz Festival and Qube was full. Well we were amazed at our hotel room, superb to say the very least. Lovely king size bed, push button to open the curtains from your bed and giant bath overlooking Shanghai. Gorgeous room! Staff were awesome. Swimming pool and gym were huge and both great facilities. Free shuttle to Disney. We had a free breakfast as well included in our stay and it is a buffet which includes many western dishes. A absolutely perfect stay! Gorgeous staff and stunning facilities. Well done Primus Hotel. Amazing place to stay.

- Brad (6/5): Qantas placement hotel. - I was placed in this hotel on Friday night following a cancelled flight back to Sydney. its a new hotel, big rooms and great bathrooms. The down side is the location although it is an airport hotel. Nothing is close by. The shopping centre attached to it is not completed yet. There a no english speaking tv channels which is understandable. The real killer is the lack of WiFi and phone coverage. Its almost non existent. The staff have very minor English understanding. I would of thought there would be some english speaking staff scattered around. All in all its a great hotel in a poor location. Staffing is a real issue.

Staff was super friendly and quick checking me in and out. The room was clean and really nice. There is a great balcony to sit outside in the morning. The lobby is gorgeous!!! I felt like I was at a spa or something because it’s so quiet and calm. The internet was awesome too because other places I’ve been in China it has been slower but worked perfectly for me! The only downside I’ll say is that it is difficult to find because it’s down a backroad and up a driveway. My cab driver got lost using the address on the website. Would Recommend for a stay in Shanghai!

- TTCAI (8/5): Good for overnight stay near PVG - Stayed here for overnight flight connection near PVG airport. Decent price for its good quality. Brand new and very quiet hotel with noise-insulation windows. So no worries of annoying noise from nearby flights landing and taking off.The balcony is a bit of joke , small and tiny but good view towards the sea. Location is perfect. 15 mins ride Free shuttle bus between airport and even to Disney Shanghai. The hotel entrance is a bit confusing for as there are three hotels on the same site next to each other. And the Chinese name of these three hotels are so similar the cab driver could not tell them apart easily. It took us some loops to find the the hotel lobby actually sitting on the second floor above the parking. The hotel was not busy while I was there, and breakfast at the restaurant was pretty good with absence of huge crowds. The pool was closed so need to check it out next time's visit.

All services are priced like in downtown Shangai at other 5* while the service they provide is more like a 2* ( massage, bar, restaurant ). As an exemple, it took them 15mn to try to make a cocktail that was on their menu ( bartender had to google it, then ask for someone what was the alcohol in it, to finally not be able to open the shaker....). At that point I just left, as funny as it was to look at him ask for assistance to open it. And I was the only costumer.

Taxi drivers refuse and complain about taking you to this hotel due to the position/location of this hotel. You will have difficulty getting pick up. The concierge also was very unhelpful and never greeted or helped with luggage. Also they do not clean with cleaning agents, this was noticed when I asked cleaner to clean up a clogged toilet, all she did was do a wipe down with dry towels.
- SkaterJudy (10/5): Beautiful hotel and great value - When our flight out of Shanghai was cancelled, the airline booked us into this hotel for the night. I was sorry we couldn't stay here longer. Our room was large and well appointed and the large grey marble bathroom had a separate tub and shower and a separate toilet room. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was terrific. I was sorry we didn't have time to enjoy the excellent fitness center or lovely pool. The fitness center looks much better than those in most hotels, and treadmills even had water bottles and clean folded towels on each machine. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

It is less than $10. The breakfast buffet is good with professional staff and great spread. Facilities are brand new and clean, room has every amenity you would expect. Some of the staff do not speak English but the ladies working at the front desk are always there to help. Hotel gave me a late checkout which was awesome! Since the hotel is new some facilities are not complete like the pool/spa area. This is my only negative with this hotel. I would absolutely stay here again when im flying through Shanghai. For the money, 5 star service, close proximity to airport, breakfast buffet all under a $100 this place can not be beat!

- simondP5718JS (8/5): Great rooms Big hotel - We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is huge including the grounds. It is a 3 star facility, then a section 4star and another section that is 5 star. A massive complex still having construction in some spots. A big array of food in the 4 star area, but the 5 star was a brilliant breakfast -we had one morning there as our dining area was closed on the last day. There isa small shop in the 3 star hotel, or 10 minutes walk away. We almost walked to Florentine from here accidentally, the big outlet centre. Florentine is about 5min taxi trip -we went twice, so between 16 to 23 RMB (4-$5 AU) each way. When at Florentine, go to gate 1 and the information centre will book a taxi for you. This hotel has a good gym, the pool was not available. We saw hardly anyone at this hotel and it is huge. It is out of town, almost nothing near it. But they do offer shuttle to airport (about 15min). You can catch a taxi to the train station and then into Shanghai.
- John (8/5): - I am a former hotel operatorions member and I think your hotel is very nice however I noticed it was newly constructed. I recommend the hotel pay for a cleaning team to thoroughly clean the property with steamers and vacuums and really remove the dust and debris from the rooms and carpets. It was really irritating to my allergies but cosmetically was lovely!

Great dinner options - a la carte or buffet, and good spread for buffet breakfast. Hotel has a shuttle but infrequently runs unless requested in advance prior to arrival. Difficult to get a hold of the front desk through the number listed here. For some reason, Expedia states the hotel does not accept bookings other than from citizens of China - this is not true. Overall, excellent stay well worth the value of the booking. Would return here for a lay over sleep.
