- Steven (9/5): Devine - Fabulous location and decoration
Roof terrace lovely Service a bit slow and haphazard eg o salt and pepper on the tables, no spoons for breakfast etc

- Habib (8/5): - The Restaurant. Lost its TN authenticity. Not a good value by any standard.
- Keith (9/5): -
Wirklich traumhaft Nichts
- Mrs MJ (10/5): - Perfect location, and a gorgeous mix of Tunisian architecture with luxurious modern room, located in the heart of Medina, yet close enough to walk to taxi pickup point (5min walk).
Room layout and decor is wonderful, very spacious and makes it a very enjoyable, relaxing recovery & recharge home during your stay. Staff, restaurant and food choices are great. Breakfast at rooftop restaurant adds the wow factor with beautiful views of the city.
We didnt try rooftop pool, but that looked wonderful also.

- NAZLY (5/5): Pretentious hotel with low quality food - Large room, clean, courteous staff, chocolate snacks daily. But this is of course mandatory for a five star hotel and the hotel did not exceed the quality that is expected in this regard and there is room for improvement. The food was unacceptable quality. We stayed in Tunisia for two weeks, this was the most expensive hotel yet the quality of the food was the worst we experienced- far worse than three and four star hotels. The breakfast was the same every day of our 5-day stay. The prepared food selection was very small, tasted bad, omelettes were the worst of our 2 week stay in Tunisia. The dinners were extremely overpriced and not good. Very loud, western music constantly. I came to Tunisia to listen to Tunisian music, not loud clubbing music. None of the clientele were the type to listen to this type of music anyway, that is really for people in their 20s. None of the good was truly authentic- mostly western and pretentious menu. Even when the food was supposedly Tunisian it was really mild and adjusted to western palates.
The accessories were also unacceptably low quality. The shampoo and conditioner were unusable. I would expect high quality, name brand products for $400 / night.
Next time I will choose somewhere more authentic and less pretentious. I almost gave up on Tunisian food until I left this hotel and tried other hotels. Even the restaurants nearby are catered to tourists and offer low quality and overpriced food.

- H6868YUemmap (10/5): Excellent hotel - Wonderful hotel, luxurious and a beautiful building. Staff were exceptional and catered to our every need.
- Shah (9/5): Great property near the medina! - Our stay at Dar El Jeld in Tunis was absolutely wonderful. The property itself is stunning—beautifully restored with incredible attention to detail, blending traditional charm with comfort in a truly elegant way. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful and authentic atmosphere.
The location is perfect, right in the heart of the medina, making it easy to explore the city while still feeling like a quiet retreat once you step inside.
Breakfast was a highlight of our stay—delicious, fresh, and with a great variety of options to start the day. A special thank you to Salima, who made each morning even more enjoyable. She was exceptionally kind, attentive, and accommodating, always greeting us with a warm smile and ensuring everything was perfect.
The evening service of the room, with complimentary oranges and dates was also a plus!
We would highly recommend Dar El Jeld to anyone visiting Tunis and would happily stay here again!
- Suzanne (8/5): - Beautiful and great location and history Reception not very nice, room was very cold
- Gudrun (10/5): highly recommended - Besonders freundliche Mitarbeiter, wunderbare Suite, feines Frühstücksbuffet alles gut

- Maria Francesca (7/5): Great location - The location was great, the food was exceptional, the wonderful spa staff. Everyone was kind and helpful. The position is great, perfect to visit the medina Unfortunately we had a safety issue on our last day. After checking out, we forgot a jacket in the room. We asked for it and no-one could find it. They told us to check our luggage (maybe we forgot it in there???) and they told us maybe we left it somewhere else. We said no, we were sure. They offered us to Watch the security cameras, we said yes and when we also said we were going to call the police, the jacket magically appeared. I know that this is not a reflection of the entire staff, but it was a very unpleasant experience also considering how much we paid for our stay and the safety standard they are supposed to maintain. After the incident, the staff kept apologizing, telling us it was one of cleaning staff who had kept it in the room they use to give it back later. I want believe that was the case, but we won’t be back in this hotel, despite the excellent service we experienced in general.

Le personnel aux petits soins
- Maria (9/5): Good stay in Tunis medina - Location is very convenient, right in Medina and next to the Central Square, so taxis can come really close. The rooftop restaurant has excellent views and plays famous French songs. Our bathroom was not well cleaned. The toilet had urine spots on the toilet seat. I cleaned it myself but of course a hotel of that ranking should not allow something like that happen. Also, in our suite we had a king size bed and a sofa. I found a blanket and two pillows for the sofa in the closet, but no sheets. (My son was supposed to sleep on the sofa). It seemed strange that they didn't have a sheet and only a comforter.
- Mohamed-Ilies (10/5): - Excellent service
- Aaron (10/5): -
- Christian (8/5): -
- Nacim (9/5): - Super rooftop. Chambre luxueuse. Rien
- Karin (10/5): -

- Sahara (10/5): - absolutely stunning and authentic to tradition
- Boukhris (10/5): Wonderful as always - This was our third time staying in Dar El Jeld and, as always, we had a fabulous time. Wonderful, hospitable staff, spacious, luxurious rooms and perfect location. Can’t think of anything we would change
- BrianB737 (10/5): A true boutique hotel with great service, perfect location, and well designed rooms - My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend in Tunis and stayed at Dar El Jeld Hotel & Spa. We loved the location (right in the Medina), the hotel, our room, and the service. The hotel is clearly local and historic, the architecture and design are excellent, and the staff is very professional and helpful. Definitely staying here next time we are back in the region.
- cleopatra119 (10/5): Gorgeous luxury hotel - Beautiful hotel in a historic area. We loved the combination of lovely Tunisian architecture and decor with a clean modern aesthetic. The rooms were huge and perfect -- suites give plenty of space, two bathrooms, closets, a desk, and a huge bed. The hotel grounds are also lovely, with lot of cool nooks and rooms to sit with tea and a book when it rains :) Definitely felt like a full luxury experience and a true five star. Breakfast was also great and an expansive spread of options, and the breakfast room guys were great. We appreciated the daily supply of oranges and dates. We also took advantage of spa treatments at the hammam -- which I would probably pass on next time. The hammam experience was 2 minutes of scrub and 58 minutes of steaming/relaxing, so no need to pay for that, and my 1 hour massage was only 40 minutes. Otherwise, a great stay and would stay again!
- Ahmed (10/5): - everything

- guyleslie (10/5): Gorgeous luxury in perfect location - The hotel (repurposing an old mansion and annex) is jewel-box, antique- gorgeous, and the suites (we tried two different levels/sizes) are enormous, luxurious, and impeccably maintained and serviced. The location is perfect, being just within the medina on a wonderfully atmospheric alley, with the advantages of both feeling part of the medina while being easily accessible to transport (via the adjacent Place to Kasbah; note that while transportations may be inclined to drop you off in the square, a mere 30m walk to the hotel, in fact taxis can go directly up to the hotel door if you wish). The roof-top restaurant (where we had four dinners) is excellent in both cuisine and service (one dish - duck-liver done in four different ways - is now amongst our top-ten gastronomic experiences anywhere). We had the reverse opinion of the companion El-Jeld Restaurant across the street, which we found over-priced, crudely-catered, and rather garish (with waiters in pseudo-Ottoman attire; very much a businessman/touristic experience). Note that these two associated restaurants are the only ones in the medina that serve wine/alcohol. The hotel breakfast (served in the roof-top restaurant reviewed above) is adequate and proportionate to the size of this boutique-hotel (although more than one cereal would be nice; we eventually brought in our own rolled-oats). Our only criticism of the hotel might be of the Reception staffing which seems to pride itself on being elegantly cool and motionless to the point of cold and unwelcoming. Generally, the week-long stay was wonderful. While expensive by Tunisian standards, it is a bargain by any other.
- Katja (10/5): -
- Marc with a C (10/5): The only place to stay in Tunis! - An excellent and luxurious 2 nights at this hotel and spa. Our suite was gorgeous and the bed was heaven. A quiet abode away from the hubbub but still close to the cultural action. The only issue was the connected TV uses the same guest wifi network, so did not load the streaming channels at all during our stay. The hotel is designed well with lots of connections to Tunisia and its heritage, colour and style. By far the staff and services provided were exceptional. From pre-arrival to check in and our fabulous (and handsome team) in the Rooftop Restaurant, nothing could be faulted. The bar is great to chat and try some good Tunisian wine. We travelled in the winter months so the outdoor terrace was not in use and the pool was closed. This hotel would be the main reason to come back to Tunis again. Thank you Senda, Kalil., Mohammad and the team for a caring and welcoming stay

- Scott (10/5): -
- Scott (9/5): - Great location in medina.
International rooftop restaurant was really a find; every meal we ate turned out to be great.
Rooms were generously sized, well decorated, and kept immaculate. Staff was unfailingly helpful. Recommended car rental service wasn't cheap but seemlessly arranged rental drop off and pick up for us. Hotel competent concierge staff -- both by mail and in person, staff were helpful but poorly informed and awkward in arranging any but routine affairs. (e.g., whether reservations were needed at their own restaurants)
Weak front desk skills in English. I had wanted to leave a cash tip to be shared by the staff but at no time when I asked (3x) was a manager available
- jcb193 (10/5): Massive and secretly stunning hotel. And quiet! - Pros:
Rooms are massive, well appointed, comfortable.
Great hot water, large tubs.
Well located, right on the edge of medina, but not loud.
Quiet
Subtle, but stunning.
Cons:
Breakfast was pretty basic and uninspiring
Would definitely stay here again and wished to try the spa!

- Arturo (10/5): Superb beautiful hotel in an unrivaled location in Tunis, with suites that would costs 3 times more elsewhere - Everything!!!! This hotel is a jewel. Located in an old beautiful Tunisian home, one of the most tastefully decorated properties I have ever stayed at, amazing suites and great location literally in the Medina but on a quiet street. Superb. Only gripe is that they did not hava availability for the spa/hamman even though we stayed 2 nights.
- Angelos (1/5): Tragic experience with BOOKING app - I liked the staff and how they handled the peculiar case I didn’t like the fact that you had cancelled my reservation and I was not informed for this. Not acceptable what you did.
Niente

I had reservations for March, I worked so hard to make it happen and then something came up with my health and I had to cancel. Siwar, the guest relations person was so nice and kind, she has alot of patience and is very professional. I hope to make it next year sometime, and I will absolutely stay at his magnificent property.

- 368othb (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Beautiful hotel with hammam in the medina of Tunis. Fabulous rooms, very friendly and professional staff. Good restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
- Karishma (10/5): Dreamy and luxurious - Staying here for a week was a dream. The suite was spacious and enjoyed the feel of luxury as soon as stepped into the property. Everyone working there was very kind and helped with any requests. The food served for breakfast seems to have no heated platters so hot dishes get lukewarm warm or at room temperature.
