Guest Reviews
- Tracey (8/5): - To didn’t work just kept pixelating.
Other than that clean comfortable room.
- Ben (6/5): - Usually no issues and always great but this time there was mold everywhere in the bathroom, along the silicone, ceiling and the bathroom door, the extraction fan didn’t work, then the bedroom, there was cobwebs in the corner, dust all along the bed board and bedside lights, there was even a dead bug on top of the other bed.
This is the first time I’ve had to endure something like this and I can’t believe it happened as all my other stays the room has been clean, room 104.
- GRAHAM (8/5): - Only two disabled blue badge bays, need at least double.
Room 218, had problems accessing the WiFi.
- Eamonn (10/5): - Very convenient
- Rory (10/5): - We stayed over for 2 nights as it was just down road from a wedding we went to.
Very handy.
Great pub nx door.
Just off service stop so other food options.
Had to wait for a while to get booked in as it’s the same staff as pub,and they were busy with customers in bar and restaurant.
Other than that it was comfortable and clean.
Plenty of parking
- Rosie (10/5): - Five stars
- Richard (10/5): - A very quiet and comfortable night. Check in and out were both hassle free and breakfast was excellent with unlimited coffee.
- robert (4/5): - The pub staff were very rude and we were told there was over an hours wait for food. Also the postcode did not exist on satnav.
- David (10/5): - Quiet
- John (6/5): - The hotel and pub is a good stop off however they need to fix thier door card reader. We went through 4 cards as they wouldn’t work, and every time someone was infront of me at reception saying the same thing. Also if you book through Expedia be careful, as they don’t make up the room for kids as I was told by reception it doesn’t come though to them on the booking. Not the best time to switch rooms at 10pm after a long travel and no beds made up for the kids.
- Lisa (8/5): - Very helpful staff.
Unfortunately the place is too popular and very understaffed, most of the time one person at the bar taking food and drinks orders and they just cannot cope.
The young chef on the carvery deserves a medal for his dedication and composure under such great pressure.
The hotel side is standard chain fare, but offers excellent value for money.
Our second visit and we will probably return in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would recommend - First time with this brand and would definitely be using again
- Simon (8/5): - The hotel section was clean and good quality.
The pub section was not so clean (sticky tables etc) although the toilets were spotless.
- Gary (10/5): Business stay - Great food choices, had the gyros flatbread
- Roy (10/5): - Bed was comfortable room was clean ,mastic around window was terrible and out side window sill could do with a clean
- Rosemary (10/5): - Very good
- Barbara (10/5): - Everything you need for a short stay
- Karen (10/5): - The room was clean and well appointed with all the equipment that we required for our stay.
- Martin (6/5): Ok hotel for 1 night - Booked it thinking it was a different hotel. Was ok clean and tidy but expensive for what it was. Food in the pub was good bar very busy. I recommend ordering from the App as much quicker service than bar. Air conditioning in the room much welcome as very warm and opening a window produced a lot of noise from outside as by the main road. It was ok for 1 night .
- Rosie (10/5): - Very good as always
- Husseyin (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful the restaurant was lovely the food was delicious
- Miguel (8/5): - For my one night stay to attend a local meeting this was perfect.
- Malcolm (10/5): - Really good comfy bed and thankfully air conditioning worked well during this heatwave thank you so much
- Amanda (6/5): - We had very wet carpet outside the bathroom. It smelt badly & that was overwhelming in the heat. It didn't dry out despite it being 28-30oC Disappointing!
- Ann (6/5): - Good location, nice staff.
- Claire (2/5): - The basic requirement for a hotel is to have a bed that is fit to sleep in. One half of the mattress was sunken with absolutely no support. There was no alternative room and no mattresses to swap out. I have developed a bad back. The reception team implied that the problem was how we “experienced sleep or our sleep preferences” even when the bed was in a terrible state. I would not stay here again or recommend. In the breakfast area the cups were dirty, there were rats in the pub garden (although it is the country, so not a lot they can do about that)
- David (10/5): - Good Stay
- Robinia (4/5): - Rhe place was over run with migies. The bathroom floor was dangerous after having a shower. The curtains were not wide enough for the window
- SUZZETTE (4/5): - This was not an Hotel it was a a travel lodge type of property. Boring. Dull. Characterless. No facilities in the very spartan room except TV.
Wont go again. Nearly £100 per night.
- David (10/5): - I was doing an event at Springfields , so the location was perfect, good breakfast and easy parking.
- David (8/5): - Excellent Service Staff lovely, room a bit noisy
- Pam (4/5): - Pros- clean, good car park. Cons. 1st floor no good if disabled. Rooms very basic. Window will not open. Disinterested staff. You have to check in at the restaurant where they are too busy to help. Carvery cold. Ever seen such tiny portions of meat. Would hardly feed a cat.
- William (6/5): - It was ok. Fair for the price
- Sheila (8/5): - Family visit
- Judith (10/5): - Very convenient for visiting friends
- peter (8/5): - Out of town location built in last five years or so as not there when we lived close. Staff friendly food was standard pub grub but very nice. Sadly it has a problem with drainage smells at times. A bit off putting going back to your room on top floor to get a sewage smell but it did go fast
- Mark (8/5): - The check-in was located in the pub adjacent to the hotel. All meals were taken in the pub. The amenities surrounding the hotel were very sparse (the aforementioned pub, and a garage (which had a decent shop within it). There were new amenities being built adjacent to the hotel, which will give greater options on future visits.
For a business trip, I found the facilities to be excellent.
- Graham (10/5): Excellent 👌 - Stayed last night 24th May on a weekend away trip. I've stayed before with work but this time it was with my partner and once again they didn't let us down
Fantastic place to stay an the staff are amazing . The two or three front of house staff were kept on they're toes as the restaurant was very busy , however nothing was too much trouble for them, .... Fantastic .
The hotel itself is just lovely . It's in an ideal position , light , airy and just a lovely place in general .
Breakfast this morning was superb and again, nothing was too much trouble .
Superb place , friendly staff and good management 👍
- Sheena (8/5): The price was right for what is offered.. - The stay was ok, if I’m being picky, there was a smell along the first floor corridor, the bathroom seemed to have a fan that never stopped making a noise, closing the door made it bearable, I loved the shower enough power and hot water….the bed very comfortable…The hotel was near where we had to be and it served its purpose… staff very pleasant…wished we had booked the evening buffet as it looked rather nice and reasonably priced…
- Harold (10/5): - Friendly helpful staff
- Margaret (6/5): - The grass had not been cut recently weeds dreadful edges needed strimmed not a nice place to sit outside . Was a shame as weather was beautiful.
- Ivan (10/5): Tulip Queen -Spalding - It was good although the small open rail was not big enough for womens dresses nor were there any drawers to put underwear etc un
- Tina (10/5): - Great hotel and dining but if you want to head into spalding you have to drive or as we did rely on a taxi which was brilliant
- J (8/5): Great place .. - Great place to stay and staff superb
Rooms are very clean and comfortable
Good and safe location and plenty of eating places around .
The only issue was the WiFi .. not a big deal however was annoying … it eventually worked so all was fine
- Dave (8/5): Good value for money - Enjoyed having room separate to main building, clean and comfortable, nice food at pub. Very good value for money. Would stay again
- mary (10/5): - Perfect for my two night stay. Convenient and quiet
- Davidson (10/5): Great first impression & Have Breakfast! - There was just enough parking, with both the hotel and restaurant busy on our first night, but the main thing is, we did get parked. Check in was in the restaurant, and the hotel is secured by 3 keycard doors to your room.
The room was really nice, and the beds very comfortable. The room was very clean, including the bathroom… except whilst it was only 2 pubic hairs on the bath, they were definitely not ours, and when your grandson questions what they are, it’s awkward, along with not being the nicest to encounter. Still, it could have been worse… there could have been a body attached!
The breakfast definitely has to be one of the best value for money around, and given that we stayed in the Hilton another night on our journey, the quality of produce was just as good, if not better.
- Atholl (10/5): - Perfect for my overnight stay
- Colin (10/5): - The bed was lovely and comfortable but the pillows where amazing. Best nights sleep Ive had in years
- Keith (6/5): - To close to road the traffic noise was a problem all night . No shampoo soap etc the hairdryer didnt work had to be held on the room was clean and bed and bedding were lovely
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable stay
- David (10/5): Perfect for Travel - Great Hotel for Travel Needs
- David (10/5): Nice Stay - Nice Hotel Comfortable Bed Very accessible for travel needs
- Jennifer (8/5): - Another wonderful stay
- angela (8/5): - i liked everything about it with one exception there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom waste pipe one night my husband had to get out of bed wash clean water down the drain and cover the drainer with a towel it was a horendous foul smell
- Jennifer (8/5): - Amazing experience
- Ben (8/5): - Once again and lovely stay, everything was clean and welcoming, only issue we had which is not the Hotels fault is that someone was smoking weed in their room and it stunk the hallway out and I hope that issue will be dealt with but other than that it was a very nice stay.
- David (10/5): - Very clean and well appointed rooms. The carvery restaurant associated with the hotel is pricey but is very popular. Food was very good. Need to book a table especially at weekends.
- Claire (2/5): - The details I was given on the website didn’t match what the hotel details were check and check out times were different which was confusing and annoying. I was woken up by the cleaners before 9 am. We’ve booked a late checkout so we could rest and we kept awake until almost midday when they went quiet. They were shouting noisy clattering and banging outside our room for over two hours which was really annoying.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Tulip queen - Good sized very clean room with a large comfortable bed ideal for a stop over stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good rooms, reasonably priced. Bath/shower was looking a bit tired but beds are very comfortable.
- David (10/5): - All round excellent..
- Julie (8/5): - Carpark had fast food packaging strewn across it for the two nights we were there, and the stairs had muddy footprints all the way up too. Cleaners seemed not to notice, or just didnt have time to clean these areas up. Otherwise, stay was fine.
- Andrew (10/5): Spalding - Convenient and pleasant, Good food in the pub
- Tina (10/5): - I have stayed at this location previously. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The carvery menu in the adjacent public house was excellent, and can become very busy. The property appears to be remote, but Springfields Outlet centre is less than 5 minutes drive up the road. As is Bay Tree Garden Centre, which is not only an excellent garden centre, but also offers other activities on site, so check their website.
This property is my go to choice to visiting family nearby, and also when travelling towards the north of England, when i want to break my journey.
- Chip (6/5): Was told it was great so sadly disappointed - A bit disappointing, had to wait ages for check in as they were busy in the restaurant and just kept letting the queue get bigger at the bar.
They asked we wanted to book a table and we did and then they didn’t record it so had to wait when we came down for dinners
Ended up looking up other hotels for next time while waiting.
- Dawn (10/5): - Clean warm and comfortable Breakfast was lovely and fresh
- Stuart (4/5): - Smell of drains so moved room. No towel in other room . Breakfast staff late and very unconcerned. Average.
- simon (2/5): - On check in we where not told about booking for dinner we have a 2year old and went down at 5 and told there are no tables undtil 7.30
- Pat (6/5): - Ok not the best
- Clare (10/5): - Great hotel and location
- Richard (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay whilst visiting family.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good staff and clean room. Good location.
- Lee (10/5): Good value good quality and Convenient for restaur - Good value good quality and Convenient for restaurant
- Samantha (8/5): - After attending a wedding it was a lovely place to return to. Early hours of the morning I thing a guest got locked out of there room who then went on walk us all up! Other than that the room was clean and comfortable. Overall a pleasant stay.
- Susan (10/5): Comfortable Hotel - Perfect for a one night stay. Room was clean and the bed super comfy. Breakfast was superb. Staff were polite and never stopped.
- Mandy (10/5): - Very clean and quiet place to stay. I would definitely return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was surprised breakfast didnt start until 8am, my first appointment was at 9am so this was an inconvenience. When I mentioned it the staff member replied 'you'll just have to eat fast'
- Trevor (10/5): Very good - I like that Marston’s they are all the same tbh. But they are nice. Bit slow to check in. But food was good. Very comfortable bed. I will definitely return.
- Bryan (8/5): - All good one minor oversight was no spoon to stir coffee
- D (6/5): Decent place but customer service needs to improve - Fourth time we've stayed here and it seems to be going downhill (after very poor food service last time). Slow check-in - had to wait 10 minutes for someone to appear. Room not properly prepared for family of 3 people, had only one set of towels. On the plus side, large room with comfortable beds and express key-drop to check out.
- Simon (8/5): - Overall it was good but I had to get my room swapped as my original room hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupant even though i was checking in at 8pm. I was also looking forward to a bath after travelling but couldn't as there was no plug for the bath. Still good for the price.
- juliet (10/5): - Extremely comfortable bed and slept well despite being on the ground floor overlooking the carpark. Bathroom was exceptionally clean but could have done with a wall hanging toilet roll holder as it looked as though the original holder had been broken but not replaced. Externally, the hotel area could have looked more inviting if the lawned area butting on to the car park had shrubs or flower beds as it would also prevent people using the lawned area as a shortcut to the hotel door causing muddy bare earth. Breakfast was excellent, both food and value for money.....
- Trevor (8/5): - New hotel next to good facilities but can be noisy at night from 24 hour services opposite and lively pub / restaurant
- Richard (10/5): - Nice stay
- Susan (8/5): - Loved the air conditioning. Room was very clean. As an older couple a grab bar on the bath to help get in and out of the shower would be appreciated. A mirror near the window for putting on make up would be nice. The long mirror has a shelf across it so can’t check yourself properly in the mirror.
- Jayne (8/5): - Friendly staff, easy to get to and the restaurant was clean and food ok
- George (8/5): Tulip Queen - Nice comfortable stay:
- David (10/5): - The hotel was conveniently located to several food options including the hotel.
I found it to be very quiet despite being near the motorway. Honestly could not hear the traffic at all.
Thank you and I will be back.
- Bryan (10/5): - Absolutely brilliant, price, service, location, breakfast amazing, all food very good. The staff were very friendly, helpful and a credit to Marstons. The 4 day stay was above and beyond expectation.
Definitely would return.
Highly recommended
- Susan (8/5): - Good value for a night or two, evening meals in attached pub were tasty and nicely presented , better than many similar places we have stayed. Personally we would have preferred a modern walk in shower than the over the bath shower but that wouldn't prevent booking here again.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean & tidy and easly accessible
- nabil (8/5): - Clean room, the AC availability was great during hot days
- David (6/5): - Only 2 teabags in the room , and no biscuits in our room, handy for the early morning cuppa.
- Ravi (6/5): - A motorway service station hotel
- Simon (6/5): - Stayed here for 2 weeks while working in the area.
Let’s start from the beginning:-
GOOD POINTS
Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable.
BAD POINTS
If you have heavy luggage be aware there is no lift.
If you are working nights you will get no sleep as the cleaners have no respect for the relaxing sign on your door.
If you go into the bar expect to wait around 15 minutes to order food or drink as there is usually only one person serving. And if you forget to say please when ordering one staff member takes offence.
- Jean (8/5): Jean Essex - Very pleasant stay, room comfortable and staff very helpful
- David (8/5): Fisrt time visit - Our first time staying at a Marsden Inn. You book in at the adjoining pub, where we were met by a friendly staff member. The adjoining complex has two levels, our room was lovely and cool from the air conditioning, it was a hot day outside. The room was well set out with a very large comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean with everything you would expect. Large TV but could only get BBC 1 not that really bothered us . Wouls stay again.
- nabil (4/5): - The room was bright clean, Equipped with AC
However, gusts staying in the next room were making too much noise through the night , made sleeping almost impossible.
- Louise (4/5): Review of stay - Hotel was basic. Breakfast was poor, don’t have dairy and there was no soya/oat or almond milk apart from a carton of gone off one they gave me.
Beans re heated, not great food.
