Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt, er war ein sehr herzlicher Gastgeber und hat super Tipps für Island gegeben! Er hat uns kostenfrei auf ein besseres Zimmer gebucht- danke nochmals dafür! Wir würden sofort wieder kommen!

Host was wonderful-kind and welcoming with a wealth of knowledge. The only thing, would maybe have a small kettle in the room fro tea in the evening.

- Jon (8/5): - Owner August was great. The only problem we had is we never received an e-mail with check-in instructions and the reservation stated there wouldn't be anyone on site. Luckily there was someone there when we arrived.
- Anders (6/5): Bra insida dålig utsida - Utsidan av huset såg ut som en mindre skrotgård och trädgården var dåligt skött och övervuxen och gav inget bra intryck vid ankomst. Parkeringsplatsen var lite kaosartad utan instruktioner var man kunde ställa bilen. Insidan av huset var bra, rena och fräscha rum. Frukosten var enkel men god och tillräcklig. Värden var trevlig och hjälpsam.

- Samantha (10/5): - The Hela cabin was a wonderful stay for 3 people, it was charming and cozy. There were also horses living on the other side of the fence, we had a joy feeding and petting them! The location was also a plus, far enough from town to enjoy the stars and country atmosphere, but near enough for a short drive for meals and groceries (~10 mins).
- Sarah (10/5): One Night in the Country - Check in at Alfastein was stated as 6pm and that’s all the information we received initially. Luckily, we found Agust’s phone number and he helped us locate the key to let ourselves in. Soon after, Keli, the host came to welcome us and made sure we were settled. He made us feel very welcome, since we had to leave very early in the morning he fixed up the coffee for us and even offered a huge bag of bread to feed to the horses. This was such a memorable activity. We also got to see some Aurora although it was a bit cloudy. The whole house was very clean, full of interesting items, the beds were incredibly comfortable after a long day and we were warm all night. I wish we could’ve stayed here several more days. Thank you for your hospitality.

Es verdad que el baño es compartido con otras habitaciones, pero estaba muy limpio y aseado. El desayuno estuvo de maravilla y la dueña muy amable.

August ist ein megafreundlicher und interessanter Gastgeber, das Frühstück war immer unterhaltsam. Teuer ist es natürlich, aber leider ist das auf Island kaum irgendwo anders.

And, we talked about some of the things we were still hoping to see and his knowledge of the country provided some direction that was really helpful, allowing us to see more of what we had read might be possible.

È stato molto piacevole chiacchierare con lui della vita in Islanda, delle sue esperienze, ci ha guidati con ottimi consigli. La casa è molto bella, calda e accogliente, in mezzo alla natura, si respira una pace assoluta e profonda. La camera era bella, confortevole e pulita. Il bagno è in comune ma comunque pulito. Il padrone di casa ci ha lasciato usare la cucina per prepararci la cena, visto l’arrivo in tarda serata. Al mattino viene servita una abbondante e gustosa colazione. Torneremo qui sicuramente!

The host was not on site but managed a friend to prepare everything for us and hand us over the key - so we had the entire appartment for our own and a very firendly and helpful neighbour. - Craig (10/5): Peaceful Stay in the Country - We stayed in one of the cottages. It was very quiet and comfortable. There are no restaurants for dinner near by so plan ahead. The breakfast was included and had a good selection of things to eat. It was served at a big table in the main house and gave us a chance to meet the host and the other guests.

- Lars (6/5): No restaurant on premises. - Although they promise you a restaurant for youre dinner, this is not available. You are told to find a restaurant in the nearest town, 10 km away. It seems that the owner is out of town and have left the management of the hotel to a somewhat confusing check in. But a part from that, I guess the stay was ok.

- Leslie (8/5): - It was a bit tough to find this property at first as the most direct route is a quick turn from the highway to a pitted dirt road. Easy to get to once you know where you're going. Check-in was a bit challenging. There didn't appear to be an email address to contact the owner so had to make an international phone call which I would have preferred not to have done. Was told that there would be someone at the property to meet us but there wasn't so then needed to make another call. An email contact would be great as the owner is very interesting and would have been a great person to discuss travel and adventure ideas in the area prior to arriving. Breakfast was quite nice and at a communal table. Stayed in the family suite with five of us and using a shared bathroom. It was cozy but it worked. Overall, a great experience.
