Guest Reviews
- Franz (9/5): -
- Sascha (10/5): Eine Mega tolle Villa im César-Styl. - Die Unterkunft war schön eingerichtet
- Anna (9/5): - Ein besonders schöner Garten im
Manrique-Stil
- Eduardo (10/5): A very pleasant and amazing experience - Despite reading some negative reviews, it was confirmed that they were all unfounded. In particular the hosts, Dina and her husband, were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet. Thank you both!!!! Nothing
- Moira (7/5): Picturesque - dont forget to take a beach towel. - Pretty and artistic. Quiet apart from the numerous barking dogs. Hidden charges - before our arrival, we were advised there would be a further 21 euro charge. This is because the Spanish banks charge their customers commission on the euros we sent from the UK due to Brexit. I contacted Booking.com and they advised me not to pay it and to ask for proof, so that I could forward it to them. The price advertised states that it includes taxes and charges. On arrival, Dina asked for this money. I showed Dina the email from customer services. She then said that all her other guests had paid it without complaint because they felt sorry for her as she should not have to pay this charge. It made us feel very uncomfortable from the beginning. It was not our bank that charged, it was their bank. When she left us, she told us we could contact her if we had any issues. I contacted her that evening and asked where the Beige pool towels were, as it was requested in the rules that we use them for the loungers. She did not reply and neither did she present me with proof of the bank charge. We had to purchase pool towels - we have always been supplied them in a property that has a pool. The apartment is in full sun from morning to evening which makes it incredibly hot inside, so I slept outside on a lounger where it was cooler, the fan that was supplied was not fit for purpose. Small kitchen that needs updating and very uncomfortable sofa.
Note added on 28 Oct 2023 - the response below from the owners wife - very untruthful - she made out that the response was from her husband but it was from her phone. The photos you see on my post were taken at 0915 on the day of departure and the apartment was left immaculate by us. Booking.com still advise you do not pay any extra fees as it is not stated in the description and it is their fee, not the Guests. There were no pool towels - she calls them beach towels - semantics. She did not speak to us on day 2 as we were not there. On Trip advisor, it states there is air conditioning. AVOID.
- Bubba24 (9/5): Idyllic - The location was perfect Pillows were nonexistent
- Myriam (10/5): We rented the entire accomodation and had a sublime holiday. - Wonderful idyllic villa that made us have a taste of the real Manrique style. Garden is decorated with beautiful cacti. Owners are very helpful.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- SydneyHO (10/5): The place to be - Nice house and nice feeling we you are inside this delicious and charming house. The propriety had a fully equipment, and the proprietary - couple- are interesting, and they love arts, poetry of the nature, and people. So thank you...merci.
- woutm446 (10/5): Beautiful spot on Lanzarote - We stayed in apartment Luna and absolutely loved it. It is spacious and cosy and has a nice outside terrace. The garden and outside swimming pool are just perfect. We visited a lot of great places on Lanzarote – Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio and Timanfaya national park (try to book a walking tour in advance or beat the crowds and be there early… very early) to name a few – but every time we came back to Casa Teiga we thought is was the most beautiful spot on the island.
You will need a (rental) car to get around, but due to the central location of Tahiche it is easy to explore the island from here.
Thank you Borge and Dina!
- TsaiG (10/5): No hesitation in recommending this villa. - Lovely villa, very clean. Good pool. Great place to stay with the family (we were 5 adults and a baby). Well equipped with china, cutlery, cooking utensils, bed linen, towels etc. Good patio places to sit and relax or to eat on.
- 821viviannel (10/5): Paradise-like - This house is something spectacular! Me and my boyfriend stayed there for two weeks and loved every second of it! We stayed in Casita Sol, which has nice furnishing and a terrace. The apartment and bathroom was spotless and felt luxurious. We enjoyed breakfast every morning in the paradise-like garden. The owner and his wife were very friendly and they speak several languages.
We will certainly return, if we get the chance.
- 180denniss (10/5): The perfect place to stay when visiting Lanzarote - Casa Teiga is a really special place. We stayed at Casa Sol, which is a really beautiful casita. It's not very big, but enough space if you are with two persons. The location, Tahiche is perfect if you want to explore the island yourself by car, you are in the centre of everything. But away from the crowd so you can have a relaxed holiday. Close to Casa Taiga there is a good bakery were you can get fresh bread every day. Also one of the best restaurants of the island is on a walking distance. The owner Borge is a very nice guy who gave us a lot of good tips of place to go for site seeing and for diner which you don't find in the travel books. Also his story are amazing. He was a good friend of Cesar Manrique and that shows. So we can recommend this place to everybody. If we go back to Lanzarote we know where we will stay!!
- jansB7040ZM (10/5): Definitely recommended - We had a look at over 200 villas and apartments and decided for casa Teiga. We don't regret our choice. We loved every minute of our 7 days stay. The pictures in the Internet show exactly what you get. The owner, Borge, is a really nice guy and very helpful. He cares about his property, everything is nice and clean. I guess there is still a "German influence" on how to care about things. We especially enjoyed the grill and had BBQ almost every evening. Afterwards we changed to our terrace, more wind protected, and watched the sunset over the lava fields. The kitchen is well equipped. The billiard room is to small for a snooker table, but when opening the doors, it's quite ok. The location is perfect, centrally located on the island. Just 8 minutes drive away from Lidl or other supermarkets like Spar, etc.
- williambeattiesmith (10/5): A beautiful oasis in the centre of the island - I stayed in one of the 3 apartments which share a lovely pool and garden. Convenient for all locations in the centre of the island, less than 20 minutes from the airport and Arrecife. Peaceful, comfortable and beautiful. Not a hotel - and the owners do not live on site. I would be happy yo come again.
- Patrickmum (10/5): We found paradise - nestled in the lava fields of Tahiche is this villa, which is beyond beautiful. Our family of four stayed over Christmas, and would have stayed forever! The three bedroom villa was extremely extremely spacious and so interesting. Around every corner was something else that would catch your eye, even at the end of our stay I was noticing something new. The view from the master bedroom is breath taking, an amazing way to start your day! The pool area should be showcased in every magazine, as it is absolutely stunning. We woke up every morning so very thankful we found this hidden gem. The villa is centrally located to everything you could want to do or see. We drove up the road to the Sunday market in Teguise, spent our days on the beach in Costa Teguise and Arrecife, drove to the Fire Volcanos......it was all magical. When we returned to the villa in the evening, after delicious meals in Costa Teguise or the off the charts Argentinian restaurant on the way, we would nestle in the living room to watch a movie and the sunset. We were greeted by Dinah and Borge upon arrival, they are so charming and knowlegable about everything Lanzarote. If you have any questions/concerns, they will be answered and great advise given about what to do and see. Your first Canadians can not thank you enough for the incredible memories you helped us make this Christmas. All the best in 2016, and we hope to be able to return again soon!
- nstephenson2015 (10/5): A jewel in a time-frozen sea of lava - Just come back from a two-week stay in Casa Teiga in Lanzarote. It's one of those places that you want to return to straight away. Beautifully situated on the outskirts of Tahiche (very close to the César Manrique Foundation) it offers everything you wish for: tranquility, style, beauty, comfort and in Borge Jensen, an extremely friendly and helpful owner who takes loving care not only of his house but also of his guests. He knows the island by heart, including all the good restaurants and the worthwhile places to see. Our
favourite places were the little town of Teguise and the beach of Famara, about twenty minutes drive from Casa Teiga. We'll be back, for sure! Nigel Stephenson and Antje Denner
- DaveHull63 (10/5): Lovely stay! - My wife and I stayed at Casa Teiga in September 2015. The accommodation is in a quiet location, but many good restaurants are a short drive away. We stayed by the pool for a few days, it is exquisite - the owner was a friend of Cesar Manrique , you can see his influence. If you didn't know of Cesar before visiting Lanzarote - you'll know of him when you leave, take the time to visit the various Manrique tourist attractions.
We found some lovely restaurants around the island, in a relatively short drive, at Teguise, Costa Teguise, Arrecife plus one just outside Tahiche in one of Manrique's old buildings.
A car is essential for a stay at casa Teiga, tahiche has some essentials shops and a bakery a short walk away. Theres a huge market in the next village along at Teguise on a Sunday.. I'm not into markets.. Hut this was impressive with its size and array of offerings. A bit of advice.. There's many car parks leading upto Teguise, don't turn into the first one like we did, keep driving to save yourself a good walk.
There's a limited bus service and taxis are around, though didn't find we could easily get one from tahiche.
We stayed in the larger villa, with open views across the lava fields and a seating area to catch the late sun. The villa has every thing you'd need. Borg and Dina are on hand regularly, without bothering you. You'd not be disappointed staying here, I think it would be good to go with a larger group to enjoy the area with friends.. Plus share the driving so you could have a few more glasses of the local vino's.
We'd happily go back, the villa has all the amenities you'd need. Towels were provided fyi, There were some large fans. If required for those warmer evenings that us Brits complain about being too hot!
The house has many interesting items, theres also a billiard table in the conservatory area of the main villa, it's a huge area that would easily accommodate a large group, giving plenty of space.
It is the pool area that makes the difference, you'll make your friends jealous with your snaps of the lagoon. Theres a couple seating areas with a bbq and changing room. Enjoy it! (apologies for any typos, I've made this review via my phone!)
- jahustvedt (8/5): Discover the llittle secret inside - You have to come inside to discover the secret of Casa Teiga. We could not find it even when we were standing right outside the door. The outside surroundings does not look tempting at all. However coming in to this little oasis the secret is revealed. It is a small complex, three units and a small, shared pool and garden. The size of the garden/pool area is not suitable for strangers to share. It would be perfect for friends and families. We did not feel for "fighting" over the two best sunbeds every morning and used the time to discover the rest of the island. Which by the way was perfect for us.
- DingDoing (10/5): A beautiful house in a great location - Casa Teiga is not a hotel ! But it is a very beautiful house tastefully decorated with an amazing garden in the Cesar Manrique style incl a small but very pretty lagoon pool.
Dina the wife of the owner is very friendly , discreet and solves all issues without any doubt.
The location is perfect ( close to teguise and Arrecife ) to drive around Lanzarote ( car is needed when living here ). One can reach all sites within a max of 30-40 min drive.
We stayed in the Estrella apartment and it was great , very spacious with its own billiard room.
The house is very clean and has all that one needs. The beds are comfortable and towels etc where available all the time.
I was very thankful for having spent my holiday in Casa Teiga !
- ValerieWB (10/5): A beautiful place... - What a perfect place for a holiday! We visited almost every corner of this extraordinary island during the day and returned to the little oasis that is Casa Teiga in the afternoon, in time to sit on our terrace and catch some sun before it disappeared over the wall. A really glorious spot - a tranquil garden hidden in a lava bubble. Casita Sol was enough for the two of us, comfortably equipped with what we needed. Borge and his wife took care to sweep and clean up the leaves and dust which the wind blew into the pool and onto the gleaming white pathways and pool surroundings. They were charming and helpful and we loved the connection to Cesar Manrique. Very likely that we will return....
- gj20142014 (10/5): Fantastic vacation!! - Rented the entire complex for my family (wife, 5 children, grandparents, and nanny) on the back of a recommendation from a friend. The place is absolutely stunning with a tropical garden out of this world. You got to see it to believe it!! You can clearly feel the Cesar Manrique influence. My kids had a blast and are begging me to come back. Owner has done a great job, also as regards the interior. He is an incredibly nice chap and happily shared with us some really nice restaurant recommendations and things to see that are not mentioned in any tour guide. Then your realize that he was a very close friend of the famous Cesar Manrique. How cool is that? We will most definitely return. If you look for a relaxed and cool vacation home, look no further. This is it.
- 386andrea (10/5): Andre234 "Excellent service!" - By recommendation of my friend who had stayed at Casa Teiga before I decided to stay in Casa Estrella with my girlfriend. All I can say, it is more then I expected. The place is just unbelievable. The owners Borge and Dina are a lot of fun. They gave us all the service and advice we needed. We visited so many beautiful attractions on the island, but couldn't wait to come home to Casa Teiga and relax with some wine and good food and look at the spectacular lava field. Whoever wants to have a holiday in rural house in Lanzarote for my opinion should chose Casa Teiga. Thank you for everything Borge and Dina! We had a dream week and for sure next year we will be back.
- Elisa851 (4/5): Lack of service - The house is fine, but the service is pretty bad. I could not sleep well in a bed were (brand Flex ) the springs of the mattress were hummering the hole night And I am not the first to complain about this matter. They left 2 bath towels per person for a 7 days stay without any change.
Be prepared to pay like 5 star hotel and you get a wonderful villa, well decorated but the service of a motel. On my personal opinion you have better options in lanzarote. Enjoy!!!
- Biancofreddo (6/5): A wonderful complex, but... - We recently stayed in the Casita del Sol, the 2 people apartment. We were in a way fortunate, the other two houses were unoccupied, so we had peace and quiet. The complex is certainly unique in it´s architecture and design. It fit´s Lanzarote perfectly!
On the service, we were a bit less satified. Since we stayed at the apartment for 2 weeks, we thought a weekly cleaning would be apropiate. The answer we got, yes can do, but will charge you. We also had to remind for clean towels etc. Compared to other vacation homes I have been in before, the Casita offers almost nothing at all about Lanzarote. Not that we need it usually, but I think it could come in handy. I actually left the information we brought for future visitors. At the end of our stay, I called to say that we would be leaving soon and where to leave the key.(the person I called was next door..) No reaction, nobody came by to say goodbye and thank you! A bit of detail I think one should have in the service industry.
Personally we thought that quality of bedding(mattress) was lacking, but maybe that is a matter of individual taste!
- 790christad (10/5): Very special - We stayed in the Casita for the second time and just love to be there. The architecture and set-up of the house and pool is extraordinary, just beautiful. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming that you easily feel at home.
