- Kathy (10/5): The private sauna is perfect - Do not overlook this property. I believe it was more of a hostel and is now operating as a hotel.
We had the private sauna room, and the sauna was a great way to end a long day of sightseeing and shopping.
The room had plenty of space for four adults to spread out, unpack, and repack.
The only “negative” is the room was rather dark and could use a few more lamps. Other than that, carry that luggage up some stairs and enjoy the sauna if you can!

- Seok Cheun (Nikki) (8/5): Overall a good place to stay - Location is fabulous as it is at the asakusa shopping area and very close to Senso-ji temple. Just 5 mins from the ginza line station and there is a direct line to henada airport.
Very spacious for just the 4 of us. But the room allocated can sleep 6 very comfortably.
It has separate bathroom , powder room and toilet.
They only have a few units and accessible only by stairs. Check in is automated through a device, so need patience. It was not a good experience when we had traveled more than 10 hours and have to deal with that.
AIRCOND and lighting were not working well. Lights flickered so we had to switched it off making the living area very dim. AIRCOND control are all in Japanese and there is no guidebook to refer to on how to set it. Room became very stuffy and we needed to open the windows.
The unit allocated had a kitchen. it is clean but there is a more more resident mouse. We had a pear in plastic bag which we left on the counter overnight. Then next morning it was pulled out from the bag and visibly clear nibble marks and were on the fruit and table. This was reported and pictured showed to the staff before we checked out.

- Natalie (8/5): Great property but check the prices regularly. - The location was amazing and it was easy to get to from the station with our luggage. The room was spacious and our teenagers loved it. The staff were great. I didn’t like that our room was available (to put our luggage in) but we were unable to check in early. The sauna was on a timer which wasn’t explained to us so we had to wait ages for it to heat back up to use it.
- Danielle (10/5): -
- TYRON (10/5): Excellent stay - Location, staff. I was thinking that I booked a room with sauna, we are on the second floor and no sauna in the room.
But the location and the room itself was great, staff are great . Overall excellent.

- Diana (9/5): A wonderful retreat from the busy Tokyo streets - The location, the size of the room and sauna Lot of stairs to room so a challenge if you have a heavy suitcase.
- Clark (9/5): Great location with some fantastic amenities that can help you get close enough to the action but you can retreat and re - A great location right in central Asakusa with everything you could need on your doorstep. The room was extremely spacious, comfortable and the sauna was incredible. The lighting was a little bit lax. For example the toilet did not actually have a light so it’s fine if you’re solo but if you want to use the toilet there’s no individual light if you close the curtain. Also, our mattress didn’t fit perfectly in the bed frame and was propped up quite a lot on one side meaning I slept at a bit of an angle.
- Ludwig (9/5): Nice accommodation for a day or two in Asakusa with Sauna! - Location is really good, staff friendly and the 4F Suite pretty comfortable. It’s a bit industrial style and not the latest interior but overall pretty decent. The 4F suite is really big for Japanese rooms, so a family of four can easily stay there.
In-room dry sauna is really good and the bath is spacious as well. There are to balconies to cool off. But be aware that the balconies face other buildings.
Bed, couch and other options to lay down are clean and comfortable but show signs of usage and age. The Airconditioning is a bit dirty and the remote says to clean the filter. But there is no bad smell.
- Jo (10/5): Awesome location and fantastic facilities... loved the sauna and huge room for Tokyo. The location w - Awesome location and fantastic facilities... loved the sauna and huge room for Tokyo. The location was fantastic
- William Chi Ho (10/5): - Everything is so convenient and nibe Is better to have elevator for people with luggage
- Vik (10/5): Location was perfect. - I wish we had been able to stay here longer! The location was perfect, very close to the train station and major sightseeing locations. Also close to many convenience stores and restaurants.
The apartment was spacious, lots of room for 2 adults and 2 young children to spread out. We loved the sauna too. Staff had great English and allowed us to store luggage upon checkout. Turning off the ambient lights was a bit tricky to navigate. But after pressing a few buttons we figured it out.
- Chung (8/5): Amazing stay, although was disappointed that we could not use the sauna at all - The location is near to main attractions. You have the whole room to your family, the living room is huge, and a washing machine I'm not sure if we can use the kitchen to cook meals or not. The photo of the in-room sauna and the fact that you have to pay extra for sauna can be deceiving on the website

- aparc (10/5): - Location of Saunaland was amazing! 3min walking from Asakusa St and 3min walking to Senso-ji Temple. To have a sauna in your own bathroom, was mega cool (well it was hot, too, hahaha). Also the room was very spacious and great for a family trip. Nothing, just fyi there is no elevator, but we managed to carry up our suitcases to the 2nd floor (3rd floor in Japan).
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Suzy (10/5): - The in room sauna was an amazing way to start and end the day. Loved how spacious the room was as well.
- Karen (10/5): -
- Edmondson (6/5): Excellent room, but be aware there is no lift/elevator if you are someone with mobility issues. - The room with private sauna facility was excellent There is no lift/elevator and this was not clearly stated on the Booking.com listing information. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had 4 x 25kg bags to take up dimly lit stairs. Please flag this more clearly for future guests who may have mobility issues.
- Koki (7/5): -
- B. Bulic (8/5): Very nice but the price is a also huge. - The location is absolutely fantastic. In the heart of Asakusa and close to the Senso-ji temple. Many restaurants in the neighbourhood. The public transport is also just around the corner. The room was huge for Tokyo standards. The sauna in our room and the cold warer bath were just great! The emergency exit light is so bright that it keeps you awake at night. We had to cover it with a pyjama (hahaha). The price is quite steep.
- Bo (10/5): - We were lucky enough to get the larger room with two queens. It was by far the biggest place we had in Japan in an awesome area. The sauna and cold plunge were amazing to help with jet lag. The staff were friendly and helped us book taxis. Would love to stay here again! Nothing
- Tak (9/5): it is a good deal and special experience - - in room sauna
- huge restroom and shower area
- lot of spaces (e.g. rest area in living room n/a
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (6/5): Mediocre but large room saved by the sauna and plunge bath. - The sauna and plunge bath were great. The location was also amazing. The room size was the best part about the room. Despite the size, which was great for Tokyo, the room quality was pretty low. Very basic. No TV. Broken chair. Worn all around.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (5/5): Fabulous location and sauna experience - rest was underwhelming for the price of the room. - The property was in a fabulous location, within 50m of Sensoji Temple. The sauna in the room was on when we checked in which was a lovely welcome. The room was stylishly furnished. For the price of the room I was disappointed that there were no bottles of water available and although there was a kettle, there was no tea option - only instant coffee. The bed was huge but very firm and there were only two very small, not very comfortable pillows. Also worth noting that the room is on the 4th floor and there is no lift.
- Sara (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kristen (10/5): Quick relaxing and just what we needed for our last night in Japan! - First of all the room size was amazing, the sauna in the room was already going, there was a nice cold tub waiting with water and the atmosphere of the room was so relaxing. Good option for a 1-2 night splurge and relax. The raindrop shower head could have been better but just preference not bad.
- Eric (9/5): Incredible location and relaxing way to spend time in the bustling Asakusa district - Location, large sauna and cooling bath in the room, spacious with comfortable amenities. very relaxing overall! Only difficult part was the language barrier. Even then, staff was incredible helping with our questions.
- monica (10/5): - Wonderful stay at sauna land
- Nicole (10/5): Location was incredible and the personal sauna/coldplunge was the cherry on top. - The check in process was seamless and the staff was so kind/ also spoke English! We mainly booked this room for the location but the sauna/ cold plunge became the highlight our stay!
- Teagan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (9/5): Superb -
- Nicolas (10/5): - Awesome!
- Jodie (10/5): Best stay ever!!!! - Words can not explain how relaxed we were staying here. We booked the king room which was the whole top floor. Enormous room with high attention to detail. The sauna and cold bathe were prepared and ready to go for our arrival. It has two verandas and the perfect sauna. A huge supply of towels. Lots of different lighting options. Staff were very kind and helpful. I was surprised at how convenient the location was. There was lots of different lighting options. We ate amazing food and had a great time. We are talking about spending 5 to 7 days there next time. We loved, loved loved it. Small thing the bath didn’t have hot water, but could be filled by the shower.
- Kajino (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynne (10/5): Fantastic, would recommend. - Was absolutely amazed at the size of our room.
Our own private sauna and ice bath was unexpected but a nice surprise.
Fantastic location, in the heart of Asakusa.
Small walk to the train station.
I did happen to get a discounted price through Booking.com.
- Naichi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mandy (9/5): A stay that leaves us wanting to return - The location is perfectly situated in the heart of everything! The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive to every detail. The bedding is exceptionally comfortable, and the in-room sauna, complete with a cold plunge and resting area, is pure luxury. Every little detail made our family feel truly loved and cared for, turning our stay in a foreign country into a warm, home-like experience. While the sauna malfunctioned twice during our stay, which was not a minor issue, the staff’s positive attitude and responsiveness helped make the situation better. Even when we encountered challenges, they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Nothing
- Young (9/5): Superb -
- Meg (10/5): Exceptional, loved this place - Loved everything, location is outstanding and a very short two blocks from Asakusa train station. Right in historic district, near temple and famous street market. Room was very big, beds comfortable and sauna and cold bath so welcoming.
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): 1000% recommended and will be back - Quiet area next to popular destination
En suite sauna
Large room with comfortable bed and sitting area
Love the room design Stairs only
- Alan (6/5): I would not recommend it. - Extremely, well located The room looks like a public sauna which the owner transformed into a room, I spend 3 nights there, but they did not clean the room at second night, we could not find anyone there.
- Lee (8/5): A very relaxing two nights before heading back home. - Location was great, room was terrific. Not having an elevator to get to the 4th floor.
- Ryo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Asami (8/5): Very good - Loved the size of the room and location The shower has a specific angle to make it work and we don’t like etc ceiling all the pipes are shown
- Adrian (7/5): Good - Location Reception area, or lack of it
- Vincenzo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaynesh (10/5): A great place which caters for your health needs. Would be amazing in winter. - The sauna and location is amazing. Being so close to the heart of Asakusa
- Erika (10/5): Exceptional - the sauna in the room and location was incredible! bad wifi the whole stay - very disruptive to doing work while traveling
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Monique (8/5): Great! - Spacious room. It was such a pleasure to have a free standing bathtub and a sauna in the bedroom
Good amenities, love that you get to select your scent for the sauna
Very convenient location - near the markets, spoilt for food choices, close to Sensoji Temple and right near the station to use the Ginza line Aircon works great but super loud (couldn’t sleep at all on the first night) so we ended up switching it off.
No elevator - if you book this room, it’s located on 4th floor
No TV and bad WiFi
Ugly ceiling - takes away from the decor of the place
- Vernalyn (10/5): Highlight stay of our 11-day Japan trip - The sauna! The location! The large living space and the kettle, fridge and microwave! We loved all the towels and toiletries, and the Saunaland Asakusa mugs! I wish we could have bought a few because we thought they were great. Also it’s so close to the shops and a taxi rank, which made everything very easy and convenient. Would stay again for sure! No lift but that was only an issue for us who had big suitcases to carry travelling with kids, and those needing assistance up/down stairs.
- Sean (10/5): To have a sauna in your room and the size of the room is amazing. So good! - This accommodation is unbelievable. To have a sauna in your room was a game changer for us.
It is more expensive, but it is worth the nightly rate.
We found out there are rooms that sleep 6 which could bring your cost down. Unfortunately the rooms are towards the top of the stairs so you will need to climb stairs to get up there but there is no issue for me with regards to this.
- Alexandre (8/5): Relax spot inside busy Asakusa - Very confortable, cozy, warm place. We enjoyed our stay, thank you for this wonderful time. 3 times during my stay and at night time people try to enter in my room, better to put some panel "occupy" or "vacant" to avoid to get wake during the night.
Inside the sauna there was still hair from previous people.
- Andrej (9/5): Great location, nice room, perfect in room sauna - Location
Spacious room
In room sauna Wifi was really bad, did not work 2 out of 4 days..
- Shin-yi (10/5): Will definitely visit again when travel Japan. Nice space for group travelers. The location is wonderful. 3mins to the s - The location. Nothing
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - The space and the location. The lack of lights, would be very dark sometimes. The bath should have hot water as well.
- Blessilda (10/5): Exceptional - The perfect in asakusa. No elevator
- Chong (8/5): A room where we look forward to going back to after a long day.....a treat! - Location is right in the heart of Asakusa. Large space unlike conventional hotels. Sauna was fantastic and a great respite from the walks and cold weather. Pyjamas was a nice touch; and really appreciate the attention to detail that went into planning the experience. Lighting was a tad too dark. Can be improved.
- Melikeb (8/5): Very good -
- Elijah (6/5): More like a hangout spot for locals than a hotel for visitors- good amenities - poor sleeping and living - Having a big sauna and cold plunge is obviously the draw. Fantastic location to the shrine and other parks of Asakusa. -WiFi worked so poorly it was basically unusable
-No TV
-no elevator - had to take luggage up multiple flights
-extremely bright exit sign and another sign that we had to cover with multiple towels every night
-high pitched noise coming from heater in room
-footsteps from floor above were very audible
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional - Unbelievable hotel and unbeatable location! I am shocked by the value for money - $260AUD for one of the biggest and nicest rooms I've had the pleasure of staying in; complete with personal sauna, spa and a huge living room space. I've stayed in five star hotels and ryokans that weren't as nice as Saunaland. Can't think of a single fault 😊
- Aly (10/5): We loved our stay at Saunaland Asakusa! We stayed on the top floor in a very spacious room with a soaking bath and priva - The property was clean, very comfortable and in a great location. The staff was wonderful.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Good -
- It's (9/5): Overall a great place to stay for a few nights in Tokyo. - The room we had was huge and nicely decorated, very zen. We also had a private sauna which we enjoyed each night. It's in a really great location, touristy but didn't feel overwhelming. Nice to be close to the temple, lots of trains, Asahi HQ, and Hoppy street food options. The exit lights were very visible all night until we covered them and because it's a hostel too there was a bit of sound bleed and some generator noises but nothing that kept us up. Also notable is that it's a 4th floor walk-up, which again we didn't mind but good to know!
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Katie (4/5): - Overall we had a bad experience. The way the hostel is set up, people staying in the private rooms had to travel through the space where the individual were located. The space itself was very small so you could hear EVERYTHING very clearly. There was a family staying in the private room with a small child so whenever they left their room to go to the bathroom the child would scream and shout. I recognize that this was not the hostels fault but perhaps they should have warned the family to be respectful and quiet ESPECIALLY after quiet hours.
This place was just too small and loud for us. Sorry.
- Hiu Yan Emily (8/5): HY Yung - The room is very big and amenities are sufficient; staff is friendly and helpful; yet the shower curtain is a bit smelly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Yes, fantastic location . Friendly staff and bar . Very small family room but well designed
