Kyle (2/5): Shady business - Good location. Easy to get there using public transport from the bus station. Grocery store just a block away. Fridges had plenty of space. Co-working space was nice. Towels were provided. Despite specifIcally saying in the booking description that the front desk would speak English, none of the 4 people I talked to did and weren't interested in using Google Translate. I know it's Argentina, but don't put that in your description if it's not true. The property currency is USD on Booking, which means they get to choose whichever exchange rate they want upon arrival. They chose the least favorable (and illegal) blue rate. I eventually (after 30 minutes of them going back and forth with someone else on Whatsapp) got them to agree to use the official rate, but then when the next shift person came in they demanded I pay more to match the blue rate. After arguing, I ended up paying all in USD, but then they changed the exchange rate again and not in my favor when giving me change (shorted me 2k pesos, and refused to give it to me). Overall, pretty shady practices. It's already a very expensive hostel, and they shouldn't be playing these games. There's only 1 ladder for the 3 bunk beds, and not all of them have railings. A few of the lockers were broken. There's no key or code for the front door, so you have to get someone to let you in every time. There's no keys for the dorm rooms, so they're all just open as well. Kitchen was very limited in pots, pans, and utensils. All the food lockers (which are a great idea) were taken, and there's not an obvious other place to store food in the kitchen. There were just 2 public bathrooms with showers and 1 with toilet only. That doesn't seem like quite enough. Bathrooms are in need of a remodel and deep cleaning. Paint was peeling off the ceiling in one. No soap provided (there appears to have previously been dispensers, but now there's only a shadow of where they had been) Quite a few long term and older guests, which kills the vibe a bit.
Verified traveler (6/5): - La atención y los dueños del hostel son excelentes. El problema que yo tuve es que en la habitación que me tocó, vive gente que trabaja en Neuquén, 5 personas. Algunos de estos no tienen respeto por el inquilino y desde las 6,00am hasta las 8am que entran al trabajo, es imposible descansar. Portazos, charlas al pie de la cama, alarmas pospuestas durante 40min. Otra crítica es que la tarifa que figuraba en Expedia no fue la que me cobraron.
