Guest Reviews
- Pekka (6/5): - Good location Small rooms and dinner menu

- richard (9/5): Fab hotel inside the castle walls - Great facilities and very friendly staff Ok
- Stefano Zoffoli (9/5): - Buona colazione. Gentili. Molto bello l'albergo Quando siamo arrivati nella struttura assegnata non c'era nessuno. Non rispondevano al telefono. Ci siamo sentiti abbandonati. Niente messaggi niente email.
- Rick (10/5): A place that felt warm and welcoming - would return in a heartbeat! - We loved everything about this place. So much so we extended our stay. The staff made us feel like family. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect for exploring the old town. If I had to find one thing it would be the tv was not a smart tv. As we are traveling for several months we do enjoy logging into YouTube to watch our local news back in Canada. If we were just on a quick holiday I don’t think we would miss that connection to back home.

- Einafetsstekki (10/5): - Sehr gute Lage. Freundliches Personal.
- Martins (7/5): -
- alinne (10/5): -
- Flávio (10/5): - Quarto agradável
Pequeno almoço muito bom
Simpatia Excelente!
Obrigado

- cristiana silva (10/5): - Tudo, pequeno-almoço muito bom, quarto muito confortável, tudo limpo e boa localização. Nada
- Julie (10/5): - Location, very comfortable rooms and the staff was wonderful. Also liked the restaurant and the breakfast was great, even had lattes made for us. Nothing
Valeu a pena !
- Danielle (6/5): Contrasts - Terrible room;
fantastic breakfast - The breakfast was fantastic; the staff was pleasant and the bath towels were large, white and fluffy. Everything else. The room was much smaller than it appeared on the photos. We had trouble getting around the small space between the bed and the walls. The pillows were terrible in comfort and size (they were half the size of a queen sized one). The small bathroom was terribly designed! It had a door from the room that led to a very narrow space to get to the toilet which was inside a tiny cubicle with a door that was so small you couldn't close the door anyways because your knees would have touched it. Besides the door to the toilet opened up into the tight space within the bathroom. And next to that, there were two showers side by side with a divider between them. Each shower was almost as narrow as the inside of a coffin. I don't understand why two showers would ever be necessary. It would have been much wiser to have one big shower occupy the entire space. Whoever designed this washroom and whoever approved it, should be fired and never be allowed to design anything ever again! To top it off, the water would either be too hot or too cold, causing much frustration! Overall, the $145 CDN per night was overpriced for the room and amenities. I am a very fair reviewer and this has been one of the worst places I have stayed in.

- Tessa (10/5): - This was exceptional! Amazing location, wonderful staff, nice rooms, and great breakfast. Nice bonus to be next to the brewery too, which had great food. Would highly recommend!

- Mila (10/5): Perfect! - Super vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. De kamer was perfect, fijne ligging. Het ontbijt was lekker en goed geregeld. Ik zou hier zeker terugkomen.

- Carolyn (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johan (8/5): Very good -
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was delightful, the staff wonderful and we loved the town. Our only regret...? We wish we had booked a 2nd night!
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Excellent breakfast, great location Room was very small, charged twice for tourist tax because they hadn't kept a record that we'd paid
- Kiani (8/5): Very good - They gave us welcome liqueur and water and water and nuts. The bathroom sink was out of bathrooms and like Doll kitchen.
Also we had to park the car far from the Hotel and we paid for the parking because it is not allowed to park the car inside inside the historical village.
- Guilherme (9/5): Superb -
- Clara (7/5): Good - Room was spacious and very clean. Perfect location within the walls of the castle. Free car park 4 min away from the hotel. The music coming from the restaurant of the hotel was going on from lunch time until late in the evening. We had to call on both evenings for them to lower the music to be able to go to sleep. During the day, it was not possible to relax with the windows open due to the sound of music.
- Nadxiieli (10/5): Great service and really cute ambiance. - Perfect location to visit Obidos. The breakfast service. I am not sure they knew how many people were staying in the hotel, they were running out clean dishes or food.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Reduced - Quiet bedroom with comfy bed. Good breakfast. Pleasant staff. So many steps and stairs. This hotel is no good for people with reduced mobility. There is no car parking nearby nor could there be because the narrow streets inside the walls make parking near the hotel impossible.
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Sameer (4/5): Disappointing. Do not go by 3 or 4 stars rating ... IT IS 2 stars - PROS:
• Friendly and helpful staff
• The location of the hotel is convenient, considering the hotel is inside the wall of the small town
• Room (D Dinis):
- The queen bed was comfortable
- Shower water pressure was good
- Our room had a window with a nice view
• On-site Restaurant:
- Great service and good food and reasonable prices CONS:
• The Room (Very inconvenient):
- The layout and the dimension of the room are ideal for one person. It is very small. It appears to be much smaller than 129 sq ft, per Booking.com. There is hardly any space to move around for 2 persons
- The room lacks even a chair and a small desk. One is forced to sit on the bed when you walk inside the room
• Storage:
- Clothes Rack: The “closet” to hang clothes is a joke. There were 2 hangers. We had to had to keep our clotes on the bed or hang on the widow or door knob
• Sink: Sadly, the worst
- It is in the living area, and not in the bathroom
- It is so tiny that one can barely use it to even brush teeth or wash face
- It didn’t drain, which gets disgusting
• Bathroom:
- The shower door does't close shut properly, and... there is a pool of water outside after one takes shower
- The walls are so thin, one can hear the neighbors showering. Very annoying
- Felipe (4/5): Disappointing -
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed our one night in Obidos - what a charming town! We had a huge apartment for our family of 4 (it looks like it had been converted from a hostel). The apartment was clean, quiet, spacious and had a lovely sunroom that we enjoyed in the evening with a bottle of wine. The only downside was the internet - we could only get Wifi in one area of the apartment - so my husband had to go to the lobby to do some work. Otherwise, everything else was wonderful and a great breakfast is included! Highly recommend.
- Flavio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annelise (9/5): Great location - Great location: inside the muralha Reaching the hotel with a suitcase is not an easy task. The car has to be parked outside the wall and I didn’t know that, so we had to carry the suitcases all the way
- Roy (6/5): It was initially not a good standard but the staff worked hard to give us a pleasant stay - We had a problem with the first room we were allocated and the staff were excellent at relocating us The first room. It was as described but very small and needed maintenance. It was not 4 star standard
- Jakub (8/5): Very good -
- Adriana (10/5): Very short stay in lovely Obidos! - Beautifully decorated, spacious and airy! Breakfast was very good, with numerous options, fresh fruits etc. Lovely patio where you can serve their own made beers. There is ample parking just outside the city walls, is free and is safe. N/A
- Emily (9/5): Beautiful hotel in very central location - I had a lovely one night stay at Casa Senhoras. The location is perfect right in the centre of town, within the walled city and close to the bus and train station but also very quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a kind note and treat waiting in my room. The main building had a lovely seating area and a nice restaurant where a good breakfast was served. Value for money was excellent and everything was spotless. Rooms in the main part of the hotel might have been a bit nicer but this is a very minor thing.
- Arnaldo (7/5): Good - It is important to disclose in advance that people wouldn't be able to reach the hotel by car and it has to be parked far away. Furthermore, the walking distance is extreme for people with advance age. Otherwise good, thank you! As mentioned above, but the service and staff very good.
- Patricia (5/5): We would not go there again. The castle was imposing and the chocolate festival was amazing. - The breakfast was ok. The location was good for walking inside the castle. The room was large. The site did explain that cars could not park inside the walls of the castle where the hotel was. However it did not say that the public aprking that is available was very far from the hotel. The parking lots were full due to a festival and the walk was very far and many outdoor steps had to be negotiated. Bad parking situation. Next, there was no hot water in th room. The host said w should have waited ten or fifteen minutes for the hot water. He said he had hot water in the kitchen! Not much help.
- Fiona (5/5): Nice enough hotel, but not good value with all its faults - The location of the hotel is lovely. With views over the city walls and narrow streets, it was just what I was expecting.
A complimentary bottle of wine waiting in the room plus a welcome note was a nice touch and the wifi works.
The hotel have just opened a restaurant, which does burgers, tapas and lots of different types of beer (I think). I am delighted to say that the burger I had was excellent, with sweet potato fries, and a nice glass of red wine, all for €16.50. The waitress (Giya) was very attentive and a perfect hostess. This is not really a hotel for the winter months. They have reverse cycle air-conditioning, which warms up some of the room, but it is still cold at floor level. Also, inside a cupboard, which has the shower and toilet in, is freezing. (But damp too, so the toilet paper is damp). If you leave the door open in the hope the warmer temperature in the room might warm it up, it doesn't. It just makes the room colder. So there is no 'proper' bathroom. Just the cupboard with the shower and toilet, and then the tiniest, tiny sink in the room (well, ours anyway), which you can't put anything on, let alone a toothbrush. There are no toiletries either eg shower cap, cotton buds etc. I would have expected something for a hotel of 4 stars with the room rate it's charging. Obviously the freezing bathroom wouldn't be an issue in the summer, and the bijou (small) room might not worry you, if you know what to expect.
I'm afraid the breakfast was pretty bad too. Firstly, nothing was hot - or even warm - eg coffee, scrambled egg, bacon etc. The warming tray for the cooked breakfast is not warmed by anything, so it can't keep the contents warm. Secondly, the selection on offer was small, and even smaller if you come later to breakfast (8.45am), as it isn't replenished very well. So the lesson is: go early if you want a wider choice (and perhaps warmer food).
There doesn't seem to be any sound proofing. I thought the couple next door may as well have been in our room! But don't quite understand this as thought the walls in the old houses would be quite thick.
I got back at 5pm and the room hadn't been made up. Why? I was out all morning and when I came back at lunchtime and the room wasn't done, I mentioned it to reception. So was a bit cross to find it still hadn't been done in the afternoon.
Our room was in a separate building to the main hotel.
- Bernard (9/5): Superb -
- Missy (10/5): Beautiful location, lovely place to stay near the castle. - Great location I’d like to know what the room is like before I book. I really wanted a balcony or a way to enjoy the outdoors from my room. I didn’t get that with my room but might have been there only room without that access.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martins (9/5): Superb -
- Ehecatonatiuh (9/5): Nice place for short stay, great staff, good breakfast. Family friendly. - Very clean, staff very friendly, nice location. Good for a short stay. Small rooms, but cozy and ok for sleeping. A little confusing to find the place, which indeed it is located passing the walls of the city, but asking to some locals we found it; probably a map of suggested locations for parking will be useful, but beyond that, it was very cozy.
- Manuela (10/5): Excellent place to visit obidos - Is very well located, the staff was very nice and everything so clean. We really enjoyed our time in Óbidos
- Winz (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mia (9/5): Historic town. Close to everything. - In historical town. Small room. Very small sink in the bedroom.
- Anabella (8/5): Bonita vistas - The views and the location
The town of Obidos is beautiful and the hotel is centrally located with nice views of the castle. It is an old house and I recognize the effort to preserve it with many original touches. Breakfast was normal. The bathroom has dampness and the walls were a bit stained.
Repainting would be nice.
- Neva (9/5): super - Breakfast is good,very friendly,welcome drink
- Jeff (8/5): Excellent stay in a great location! - Excellent location inside the castle walls. Friendly, helpful staff
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff, very nice hotel in a great location. Welcoming drink of Ginja and wine/snacks in our room. Really good breakfast. Room was very compact ... but then again, we were staying in the middle of a medieval town ... so everything is compact! No complaints.
- Neil (1/5): Spoiled - I liked the main part of the hotel but our room was in rundown building next door the wall were moldy it was noisy and throughly unpleasant. See above
- Oleksandr (7/5): In the center of medieval village - The hotel is direct in medieval village. The room was very clean! The room is too small, there was no place to put and open the luggage. The parking is only outside of the village and you haven't a chance to find the place. There is also a big free parking area downstairs. But it means you need to grab and carry your luggage 500m uphill.
The personnel ask you, in which time you want to have breakfast, to reserve the table. But when we came, it was almost nothing to eat and to drink...
- Anders (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Recommend for single night stay, a bit cramped for more. There may be larger rooms available. - Lovely hotel within walls of old town. Welcome cherry liquor drink was a surprise. Great breakfast with eggs and bacon. Modern decor and comfortable bed. Communal lounge room with books to read. Very small room and bathroom with tiny hand basin. No towel rails or clothes storage.
- Rodienne (4/5): Disappointing - very good breakfast
clean room
central location No AC in the bedroom. Do you imagine a bedroom without AC in 2023?? Not only the receptionist was telling us that a bathroom fan was the AC. He thought we were stupid. Every time we spoke he wanted to give us a shot of Ginja instead of trying to solve the issue.
That was not enough, we were not provided nor given a key for our bedroom as they could not find it. After waiting and wasting more than 2 hrs of our time they told us that the manager has the key and that she is not coming with it. We had to keep our staff in the car for the rest of day and evening and after dinner we had to go in the car walk 10mins with languages and take them up to the room. We then got the key the next morning when I went to ask for it again at the reception desk. Have you ever been in a hotel and not given a key???? as I travel a lot and this is my very first time. the manager did not even come to speak to us neither excusing herself/himself.
- Keiran (3/5): Wouldn't recommend this property. - The location. Included breakfast was good. Hot room with locked window that couldn't be opened for fresh air. City view was of the roof of the next building. The body soap dispenser in the shower didn't work or was empty. Had to go to the reception desk 3 times before getting anyone to answer. Worst accommodation experienced in travels through Spain/Portugal. Make sure you read all that is included before booking.
- Alessio (8/5): Accommodation in the historic centre, clean and with all comforts. Very friendly and helpful staff. -
- Kathy (9/5): Superb -
- Kimberley (9/5): Excellent location and friendly staff - Welcoming staff, comfy room and lovely breakfast. Hotel is in an excellent location. A couple of small details like the toilet seat didn't fit properly and the shower head wasn't connected well - certainly nothing to spoil a holiday, just minor niggles.
- Stéphanie (10/5): We were in Obidos during the medieval celebration. Wonderful experience. Staff is really nice. Nice breakfast - Really in the center of the city. Clean and nicely decorated
- Lukas (10/5): Excellent choice. - Location was perfect, nice view from cozy Paris room, good breakfast with traditional desert and also great staff.
- Luis (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (10/5): Great location, clean, good value for money - Great value for money, clean, comfortable bed, great location, excellent staff Nothing. I would defiantly stay here again
- Avner (5/5): Passable - Location is great Cold room without blankets.
Hotel attival location was not defined right in Google maps.
(8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good - Location
Bed
Staff They need to be absolutely clear on arrival that parking is not available within the walls. We wasted to much time on trying to find a way of getting the car inside and then park.
We parked outside the walls and was ok.
Again the staff need to be very clear on this.
- Iseult (8/5): lovely historical property - so central facility to boil a kettle but no tea or coffee provided
- Sophia (7/5): Good -
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- David (7/5): Good - I don't think this is a great value for money. It's double the price of the hostel and the experience is not really any better.
- Diana (8/5): Memorable, excellent - Spectacular location in a medieval town. Our room had wonderful views of the castle. Smart modern furnishings and a good shared kitchen for use of guests. Hard to find, more guidance would be helpful
- Eugénia (1/5): Bad -
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Aleta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Great guesthouse with super helpful. - Great location within town walls. Super clean. Room was good size and had nice lounge. kitchen had a few pots, fridge, kettle—everything you need for light cooking—no tea or coffee. Toilet stalls were small but very clean. Good hot water for showers (and heat in the rooms!) Staff was super nice and super helpful. Would definitely stay again! Toilets are cramped but other than that excellent.
- Melanie (10/5): Siper clean and comfy and great value - Super cute place that was spotless with nice bathrooms and kitchens for guests to use. Breakfast is at sister hotel 10 feet away and was delicious. Reception staff were great. I lived everything.
- Margarida (9/5): Superb -
- Doug (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and perfect location. The receptionist Karla was exceptional. Her knowledge of the community as well as the surrounding area was extremely beneficial.
- Millete (9/5): Superb - Location was great, size of room was very good. It was clean and comfortable. Staff were very nice. The bathroom was small and the shower head too high. It was also very dark.
We were misinformed about the parking situation. We should have been given better instructions...like do not drive inside the castle walls, parking is only outside.
- Gail (9/5): Location was perfect and great value for the money. - Location was great. Room was comfortable. Though the beautiful stone streets make it difficult for rolling suitcases.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Vincent (7/5): Good -
- Madalena (8/5): Very good - We staid one night at this hotel as we wished to do a one night escapade from Lisbon. We took a bus in Lisbon (Campo Grande) and in 1 hour arrived in Óbidos. The hotel is very easy to reach from the bus stop (in general, Óbidos is a very small village) and check in was straight forward. The bedroom we staid in was rather small, but for one night it was fine. The village is quite touristic (but so lovely!), so at night you'll only find tourists and people working in restaurants/bars.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
