Guest Reviews
- Christian (8/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Great stop on Route 66 - On site craft beer, ice cream stand, and choice of restaurants! Great bed and room. Live entertainment on weekends!
- Roschy (10/5): -
- Leeman (10/5): -
- Krystal (10/5): I’ll stay here again but for longer. - Unique and beautiful plus close to many sites Finding the front office was confusing
- travissD9820WX (8/5): First time - Great location, great retro feel motel but they need a new morning person at the front desk. I stopped in for coffee and she did not say one word
First impressions are important
- David (8/5): A unique property staffed by the best people! - Very nice staff; comfortable bed; great location & really cool Rt. 66 vibe Wi-Fi didn't really work very well, was extremely spotty
- Albert (10/5): - Authentic southwestern vibe, think route 66. Staff was the best
- Kenneth (10/5): -
- Jeff (9/5): Overall, would recommend - Fun place with a good vibe. Clean and plenty of space in room and on grounds. Pool not as advertised with 108temp. Some on site vendors not open or with limited hours. Limited parking.
- Randi (8/5): Cool place just needs a few tweaks - Funky, well located and safe Room dark, had to move bed for outlet and very dusty behind bed
- 775heatherd (8/5): Convenient location with fun vibe at the El Vado - The atmosphere here was great. Well styled, fun, loved the outdoor space and the complimentary beer upon arrival. Parking is easy and the location is good for visiting Albuquerque sites. It is walkable to Old Town and the river walk. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The only complaint is that I booked the El Vado based on it having a pool and the pool was not open when we arrived on April 29th. I would recommend this property for anyone visiting ABQ.
- hopeb179 (10/5): Great place to stay! - Great experience. Lovely clean room and courtyard. Very much appreciated the secure access. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Joni (10/5): Great 👍 -
- Companion54037334298 (10/5): Impressive updates to a Route 66 classic! - Very modern updates to a historic Route 66 hotel!
Our room was very nice - comfortable and quiet - loved the courtyard with pool (even though the pool was closed during our stay) - the small on-site bar with a complimentary drink was pretty cool. We did not choose to eat at one of the on-site restaurants but walked across the street instead to an incredible Mexican Restaurant.
The parking situation is not the greatest and finding the front office to check was a bit challenging but it was a really nice place to stay.
- Sarah (10/5): Great stay at a modernized classic Route 66 motel. - Clean room and friendly staff. I appreciated that the rooms were within a gate requiring a room key.
- Deb (10/5): Loved it and will definitely stay again! - Beautiful property. Rooms were clean. Bed was super comfortable. Super easy to explore by car from the motel.
- Fournier (8/5): - What breakfast I make my bed at home better then you do
- Mark (10/5): -
- PNAggieMom (10/5): A great fhoicr - El Vado is a great retro hotel. The room was comfortable and quiet. It was in a great location for interstate access and convenient to Old Town.
- Sherry (10/5): -
- Stelle (10/5): El Vado is my new "Go To" when in Albuquerque. - Outstanding!
- Donna (9/5): Great place to stay - Excellent location, terrific staff. Sadly the pool was closed awaiting inspection.
- mudpuppy_17 (6/5): Average. - Location not great for walking. Not much was open while we were there for 3 days, no nearby restaurants. Front desk staff was definitely hit or miss on helpfulness and friendliness. Pool was closed “for cleaning” during our stay. Average room.
- CindaLee (8/5): Quaint, clean and beautiful landscapes - Adorable, clean and a look back to the good old days. Beautiful landscapes and vegas on the ceiling of our Adobe room. Quaint and great. Only downside was we wanted to take home a magazine that was in our room and were told it would cost $58 if we did!
- Becky (8/5): Was great to stay in a Route 66 motel! - The historic building was great A little difficult to get luggage in and out of motel room
- David (10/5): Cool comfortable accomodations - Really cool and comfortable accomodations. Great location. Good service. Recommend
- W2168PPbarbaraw (8/5): Beautifully Restored Retro Motel - El Vado is a gorgeous restored Pueblo Revival style motor court straight out of Route 66’s heyday. The place has been beautifully restored, with a working neon sign.
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Ramirez (10/5): Cute place and great location! - We loved the convenient location and on site food options. Old Town and the botanical gardens were within walking distance. Our room was clean and quiet at night. Staff was helpful and welcoming. I would recommend staying here to family and friends! Parking was a bit tricky on Saturday night but every other night was easy.
- Jeff (10/5): - A superior motel experience with welcoming outdoor patio spaces, complementary drinks, and comfortable room!
- Johnston (9/5): Nice place to stay on our cross country adventure! - Good location, unique hotel Couple more bath towels, better lighting in the room
- Kurt (9/5): - Great location to old town and the bio park The bathroom was updated but not at a high quality. Also fan was quite loud.
- Paradise13607114409 (10/5): Route 66 Trip - Clean, nice property. Nice people at check in
- Bryan (8/5): Glad we stayed but won’t book the hotel again - The property itself was beautiful. Well maintained. The room was comfortable No refrigerator in the room. Wi-Fi reliability was terrible. Staff was friendly enough but uninterested and mentioned that the Wi-Fi issues were common. Parking was an issue as the hotel is adjacent to an apartment complex
- Oscar (10/5): -
- Jody (7/5): It worked well for a single overnight stay and a short walk to Old Town. - The motel was comfortable and a short walking distance from the Old Town. The woman who helped us at check-in went out of her way to help us with Restaurant ideas for dinner. Appreciated the free beer tokens at check-in and the Happy Hour food - very nice bonus. The room didn't have a refrigerator (guessing too small to add). Parking worked out because we were lucky that someone left. The food locations on the property closed too early (4pm) but it did help us to find a nice place to eat in Old Town.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Luka (10/5): - Zelo projazno osebje, lepe in čiste sobe
- Julie Anne (10/5): Very enjoyable. - Love the updated, groovy old motor court style.
As a child, my family would take driving vacations (we we're not of the flying class) and often stayed in motor courts. I have such fond memories, it is delightful to find one so beautifully updated. The room is on the small side, but the space is well designed, with the exception of the closet door. It swings open in a way that makes it very difficult to get things in and out. It could easily be fixed by changing the side it's hinged on.
- Katrina (8/5): Would stay again! - It was very cute and well remodeled with historical relevance. The staff were very nice and the bed was comfortable. There is not much parking and you could hear traffic noise from our room.
- 825marybethg (10/5): Fun atmosphere and great location - Fun place on Route 66 within walking distance of Old Town. The outdoor seating area with food pods with a several different choices, live music in the bar was also a fun way to relax. This was separate from the rooms so it wasn't noisy. The room was comfortable and clean (wish there was a mini-fridge). We were out of season for the pool but it looked nice.
- Catherine (10/5): Amazing - So cool
- Mary Beth (8/5): Fun atmosphere within walking distance to Old Town - Park atmosphere with live music, bar, food pods and activities but separate from rooms so you didn’t get disturbed Would have loved a fridge in room
- asjohns93 (10/5): Super clean, great value, extra comfortable - El Vado is easy to find, right on Rt 66 and walkable to Old Town Albuquerque. It’s an historic motel that has been beautifully updated but still consistent with its original design. The room was spotless, the bedding comfortable, great shower, and its very quiet; almost soundproof, especially considering the busy road. Checking in and out was easy, staff was so friendly and helpful, and the price per night is a huge plus; we definitely felt that the hotel is high quality and a great value. I would recommend El Vado to anyone traveling to or through Albuquerque.
- susanono (8/5): Quirky Route 66 Gem - Just a one night stay coming back from a trip. Came in late and left last minute. The bed was very comfy which is the most important consideration. There were a few signs of aging-cracking soap dispenser, hard water issues around the shower door fixtures. But overall a lovely room and very comfortable. The only problem was getting the heaters to work. But the front desk was great about coming to help and getting it working. Wish I had had more time to enjoy the food court and entertainment. There are some yummy restaurants there. Should also mention there is good security with card controlled gates.
- 655danaem (10/5): 5 stars for El Vado - We had a great experience at El Vado. Staff were welcoming and kind. The property is nicely updated and clean. We enjoyed our welcome drinks while watching the sunset on the patio and were within walking distance to a few restaurants and shops. We were also able to wash some laundry and hang in the lounge of their sister motel right around the corner.
- Jill (10/5): -
- Nehemiah (10/5): - The location and size of the room How much of a deposit is needed when you arrive, but it is understandable
- Jennifer (8/5): lovely time , enjoyed our visit - nice area close to old town , had a pub, and a few food options on the property no mini fridge
- AJoVenture (4/5): Great Venue- beautifully restored- poorly managed - Really hot day- in the 90s- pool not open- ice machine broken. They claimed the bar had ice. No dice. I was hot and wanted a pool or an icy drink- not an option.
But that's not the worst part! We were trapped inside. A key card is required to exit the property- ours didn't work. We panicked. So glad this was not an emergency. There should be a way to exit the grounds without a key.
- CatSwarm (10/5): Adorable El Vado - This motel is a great location—so easy to get around town via car or a quick walk to Old Town. Our room was so cute and our accessible bathroom was big. Love the vibe of the whole place, including the food and boutiques. Would stay again and like a little more time to hang out.
The only thing to be aware of in terms of navigation is that one must do a U-turn to get in the parking lot and to enter the courtyard for the rooms one must go through the “event center” entrance. That threw me off at first and then was not a big deal.
- 3greatkids (10/5): Perfect! - This was a really nice hotel in a great location. Well kept, clean, comfortable bed. Close to main roads. Hotel staff was welcoming. Felt safe as a solo woman traveler. Would definitely recommend.
- Carrie (5/5): Never again. - Location was great, parking was easy. Nice renovation. Road noise was very loud. Pool was not open, as advertised, which was a major disappointment. "Event Center" where we came in and out of the hotel reeked of smoke.
- Juliette (10/5): A great short stay! - Super friendly staff in a convenient location close to downtown. The hotel is a mix of modern and nostalgic, with a gorgeous design aesthetic. The bar is cute, and the accompanying shops and "food pods" have a wide variety of Nothing!
- 353janelh (6/5): OK Stay - Enjoyed the outdoor space and the staff was friendly. The room itself was poorly lit and there was a banging in the wall every 15 minutes through out the night. No one slept.
- Carpenter (10/5): - Location, newly renovated. Really comfortable bed!!! They had a custom water bottle and engraved cups near two complementary water bottles. It seemed possible that the custom water bottle and cups were complementary. They weren’t. I asked at the desk and they said they weren’t. They also said that some people take them and they’re charged $45 after the fact for the water bottle. I suggested they place a little sign. They’re saying that these rechargeable items with that exception everything was perfect.
- I2542RVsuzanneh (8/5): Unique! Retro but Modern - Wonderful nostalgic motel - close to Old Town. The grounds were well lit and felt very safe. This unique property had a cool vibe and the Taproom and food options were tasty and very handy if you needed a snack and didn’t feel like getting out. The room was finished out nicely with a MCM charm but also had modern updates. The pool area was appealing and clean and the splash pad feature was a real hit with small kids! The only complaints I would have would be that parking was very hard to come by due to special events. At the end of a busy day I just wanted to park and go to my room but spent quite a while circling the area to find a spot. Also the ice machine wasn’t working during our stay. Front desk, housekeeping, and taproom staff were very friendly. The price was very fair and I would stay at El Vado again if I come back to the area!
- John_Burdis (10/5): So nice that we hope to visit again, when on the full Route 66 - We stayed in the Desoto suite for two nights and from arrival, checking in, to when we departed, I have to say that everything was excellent!
The staff were relaxed, informative and helpful. The location was easy to find and well within walking distance of the Old Town, which we wanted to see! The suite, which we stayed in was lovely and well worth paying the extra for. The pool was inviting and clean. Plus the food outlets on site were a lovely addition and well used.
The whole vibe was friendly and relaxed and we hope to stay here in the not so distant future, when we escape from England on holiday again.
- Robert and Anita (7/5): Interesting location and experience and clean and comfortable enough. - the beds were comfortable, room clean. Welcome beverage upon check in. We asked for a quiet room and got one. The place had a comfortable, relaxed and un-assuming atmosphere. The old southwestern adobe style was preserved. There were lots of gates and fences to make your way around the patio .
The front desk clerk said we could have a beer, or wine from an open bottle for a welcome beverage, but the bartender said we could only have beer.
The vessel sinks in the rooms are awkward and inefficient.
- Corinne (7/5): -
- Miller (10/5): -
- Amy (10/5): Fun Route 66 hotel with clean rooms and comfy beds. - The bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel seemed newly renovated. I appreciated the storage space and cleanliness. The pool/splash pad/courtyard was clean and spacious. Great value. Walking home at night from old town felt a bit sketchy.
- erin_e_philly (10/5): Got our kicks on Route 66! - El Vado is such a unique motel with a lovely staff and nice amenities. They were so kind as to decorate our suite with Birthday banners and candy when I casually mentioned we were coming to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. It was a great surprise to walk into and such a thoughtful touch! They also have a great little tap room with a couple of few beers included with your stay. We ate at one of the on-site restaurants Buen Provecho which was amazing!
- Abimael (10/5): Wonderful El Vado - Beautiful ole timey classic hotel. Brand new with nostalgic vibe. Highly recommend this place. Wish we had more time in Albuquerque
- Dennice (9/5): -
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Nikki (8/5): Cool retro vibes - The location was close to the old city and aquarium. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Not enough are hard to reach wall outlets for charging devices. A lot of the stores and restaurants in the court yard were closed on Monday's and Tuesday our closed early.
- Julia Karine (10/5): Great road trip stop! - Quaint, perfect Historic Route 66 motel. Quiet, comfortable stay. Cery friendly staff, close to very good selection of food pods.
- K. Deniz (8/5): -
- Chelsea (9/5): Would definitely stay again! - A lot nicer than I expected. The room was clean and very comfortable. The shower had great pressure and got hot quickly. I also liked that there was a clothes steamer in the room, that was a nice touch that a lot of nice hotels don’t even have. The plugs on the lamps by the beds are the only plugs by the bed and they are very loose and only work if you prop the plug up with sturdy items.
- Hunter (10/5): -
- Patti (10/5): Would definitely go back. - Unique, love the layout around the courtyard. Nice to have restaurants on the grounds as well as tap room.. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location.
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Anita (8/5): wish we had more time. - We did not see any breakfast provided. Coffee and Tea service available. Very cute place. The host upon arrival was fantastic as was a gentleman who worked there. Both knowledgeable and friendly. A fridge in the room would be great. They were out of one of the mugs we wanted to buy. There were clearly 3 in the case but told not for sale. Check out was painful as Staff was not trained.
- Kathryn (10/5): -
- Anderson (10/5): Just a lovely hotel! It was my favorite in all of New Mexico! - Charming, the bar access. Toilet very low!!! Time for comfort height toilet installation!
- Michael (3/5): Disappointed in choosing this hotel - The location was convenient, if you're doing things in that part of Albuquerque. 1) There was confusion about our reservation when checking in. It would have been very helpful to known our room was not reserved when I called the reservation desk, weeks before our arrival. Fortunately, they did work us into a new room, but again was told it was one price at check in, and then they attempted to charge a higher price when I came back in, as requested to update our reservation.
2) Parking was confusing and lacking.
3) There was a horrible smell in our room. Enough to cause headaches and feel nauseous. I alerted the front desk and I felt like they've been told this before, but brushed aside our concern.
4) There's live music literally outside our door. Don't expect quiet and comfort sleeping outside a bar area.
- Gokce (8/5): -
- Susan (8/5): -
- Maya (8/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): - I love this Place! The Bar, the music, the food!! So Fun! Definitely one of my Favorites!
- Benjamin (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Now I have a place to stay in Albuquerque - Safe, convenient, updated, clean, retro vibes, friendly Nothing
- Jonelle (7/5): -
- Justine (8/5): - Charming and retro. Good location. Parking was initially confusing. Tiny rooms ( it understandable!).
- sharon (10/5): Easy location, very nice rooms and good food nearby. - The room was well-styled, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. I appreciated the bottled water. I enjoyed the motel bar and the excellent restaurant nearby that delivered food to the motel bar area. I would have liked to be able to stream such things as Netflix, Hulu.etc on the TV.
- Horwitz (10/5): - Very nice setting
- April (9/5): Nice rooms, friendly staff, and free beer. - Conveniently located close to downtown. Parking is free but limited.
- Teresa (9/5): Charming Route 66 vibe - Rooms are small but clean and very comfortable. Loved the old-school Route 66 style and the quiet atmosphere. Nice bonus having shops and restaurants on site - wish we could’ve tried them, but it was Christmas Day! Nothing
- Webster (10/5): -
- Ann (10/5): This is one of the rare stays that I’d like to come back to. - Loved everything about it! It had a comfortable feeling to the courtyard, room, bar. Parking was challenging, however the sister property is a short walk away and they had plenty of room available.
- Mary (8/5): Good but not as good as last visit... - I like the format. I like that it's close.to Old Town and Bio Park. I am grateful for the free drink. Even cheaper motels have a small fridge... No need for the extra dresser.
When I stayed before the "food court" places on the property were open... Not so this time.
- Michael (3/5): It was a nice location and outside area was nice, but the room was small and the heater did not work which caused the ro - The outdoor area was very nice. The heating in the room did not work.
- Angie (10/5): Staff was excellent - Definitely the breakfast. The location was great, very nice place to stay. We spent a couple days just lounging around and enjoying.
- Linda (10/5): Best Route 66 motel on our trip across country. - The atmosphere was super. Loved our room. Will upgrade to a suite on our next stay. We ordered food at one of the food pods. The Thai food portion was huge and delicious. Ate in the cute bar/dining area and used our free beer chips given at check in. Across the road at the botanical garden was the holiday light show. Absolutely loved this place. The outside patio area was outstanding as well. Only bad thing was trying to find a parking space. Trying to find parking.
- HSIN YI (10/5): - Friendly staff, good location
- La Velvet (9/5): - Wonderful staff. Very cute motel.
