• Jennifer (10/5): - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! You can walk to restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues! Plus the boutique hotel style offers something unique from the chain hotels. I love this hotel! We stay here regularly when working in Florence. No complaints! But the Boiler Room in the basement is closed for renovations.

The bar/game room in the basement (advertised on the hotel’s information) was closed for renovations. This was the reason we chose to book so it was disappointing that it was closed.

We were lucky and found parking on the street close to the hotel but before we stay here again we will really have to weigh the parking vs the area. Otherwise quaint, clean, and a great stay.

The curtains were falling off the rod and the blinds didn’t work. Lots of bright light at night in the room. Very noisy on the weekend.

• Bill (8/5): The Stricklin Hotel - The hotel is a converted old building with hardwood floors. The floors creaked whenever any one was moving around. They have made it pretty nice and the lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Parking is on the street with a meter that only takes quarters. Later did I find a sign where you could pay through your phone. There is also a parking garage that is about a block from the hotel. There is no food service. There is a Big Bad breakfast restaurant in the building for a paid breakfast. It was good. I was blown away by downtown Florence. I have been to Florence many times but never downtown. I will go back.

A/C was not cooling well, dim lighting above bathroom sinks, no Smart TV (cable channels only), our window view of dumpsters and utility lines was a disappointment, too. We were able to park on the street just outside the entrance, however we were approached by a homeless beggar on two occasions. Positive feedback would be the comfortable bed, convenient to walk to restaurants, and friendly staff. We wouldn’t stay again.
• Jo (4/5): - Good location to restaurants. It wasn't as clean as it should have been. The floors were sticky, the bed was squeaky and uncomfortable. I did not sleep well at all. From the elevator to the room needed to be cleaned top to bottom. I have stayed here twice before and everything was clean and comfortable. But not this time.

The cost was outrageous considering the room and the total lack of services. Parking is awful. The Hampton Inn has better service for half the price. Expedia will never post this review.

• Brad (10/5): - This is our go to location for a quick weekend getaway or as a stop on longer travel trips. The location is safe and very walkable. If you stay for a day or so then there is lots of history in the area.

We paid extra for a view of downtown but there were loud cars revving their engines right in front of our room all night. The tv service provided was the worst. It was way overpriced. I think we got bed bugs. All in all a pretty bad stay.

• Lindsay (8/5): - We stayed here for 6 nights and overall had a decent experience. The hotel is in a great location—within walking distance to downtown parks and restaurants—and we felt very safe the entire time. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, especially when it came to navigating parking. While there’s no dedicated lot, there’s affordable street parking and a convenient parking garage just a block away ($4 a day at most). Our room was clean when we arrived and included a small fridge tucked in the closet, one chair, and a small table. There’s a microwave and ice machine available in the hallway. We’d read reviews about noise issues, but it was surprisingly quiet during our stay—no loud music, which was a pleasant surprise. That said, the hotel is in an older building, and it shows. The floors are uneven, and you can clearly hear people talking or walking in adjacent rooms and above you. The hot water in the shower didn’t last more than five minutes, which was frustrating. And while we were there for six nights, housekeeping never came by—not even to take out the trash or refresh towels. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly spot in a central location and don’t mind a few quirks, this place can work well for a night or two. For longer stays, the lack of housekeeping and hot water might be a dealbreaker. I’d consider staying again, but only for a shorter visit.

• Jamie (7/5): Good - Location. location. Location. Having a breakfast place and bar in the building was great. I like staying in old building, so the creaking wood floors are quaint. Having to pay for breakfast after paying far too much for a hotel in downtown Florence. They say that all beds are king-sized, but they are "hotel kings", so a little smaller than your king bed at home. At 5' 11" my toes were hanging off the end of the bed.

Concerns: upon check in late evening front desk told us we could park at back of property if street parking was full, yet we were approached twice asking for money or drugs, so safer parking would be optimal. Also, went to drink machine after hours & left phone in room...was unaware room key was needed to enter back into hall went downstairs to lobby to a closed desk. I got lucky someone was coming down the elevator and willing to ride back up and key my into the hall.

I know all about the fact that some other sales rep really f$*%ing hates the dude to my right (who I'm assuming is also a sales rep, and who also apparently couldn't talk on his phone without pacing/stomping); I THINK that the next person who stayed there had tuberculosis, from all the coughing; I know that the 1st "lady" to my left is very "enthusiastic," if you know what I mean, and that she also can't hold her liquor; I know that the next couple who stayed in that room enjoys tub baths - and talking to the other member of the couple in the next room from the bath (which requires talking loudly); etc. I also was awakened at 2AM by someone smoking weed - it was like they were in the room with me. The rooms are cute - but not very functional - the "desk" is literally 12" wide. The lighting is poor - SUPER-bright bedside lights that you can only turn on and off with a switch that is around the corner from the bed, and SUPER-dim lights in the bathroom. The TV isn't a smart TV, so I had to stream my shows on my laptop. I'm here for 5 nights, so the fact that they don't clean the room unless requested is kind of a pain. I had to ask for new towels, and more coffee pods, coffee cups, and soap. There is a mini-fridge, but no microwave (so, unless you eat something cold, you have to order in or eat out). The location is great, but parking sucks. Overall, I think that it's not worth the price.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Usually great, but last visit hit/miss - Love the location, room overall very nice. Have stayed a few times and seems to have been change in cleanliness. Might have been slip up, but one side of bed had sheets folded up like someone had been sleeping. Throw pillows on floor. Not typically a 'complainer' but noticeable dust/grime around windows, lot of clumped dust in corners and on curtains, toilet seat broken, top lock for dinner gone and noticed several ants around one corner when got to room. Ants...big deal honestly, but, left to go box on trash can after dinner. When woke up in morning they were very very present. Might be good to work on that given lot of folks will throw a fit.

• Michelle (8/5): - There is a lot to like about the Stricklin: clean, nice rooms, comfortable bed, easy to walk to restaurants/shops. The big negative for us was the noise. We had a room with a window, and the street noise was a lot (engines revving, loud bass music even overnight). Also, be aware the hotel shares a wall with a restaurant/bar/live music venue, so our final night we heard a show from our hotel room...when we preferred to be asleep. Maybe staying in one of the windowless rooms would be a different, less noisy experience.

Comfortable bed, location in downtown is awesome. We were on 2nd floor. There is zero insulation from the noise of everyone above, beside or below. The people above us stomped around the entire night. Every time they moved it sounded like they would come through our ceiling.
