Guest Reviews
- Heidi (10/5): Life long memories were made at coca Maya for my family. - So many things!!! The accomodation itself was beautiful, the bedrooms were spacious and clean and had everything we didn’t know we needed in them. The staff were so helpful and catered to our every need, they were so friendly and welcoming our whole stay. The facilities were enjoyed by us all, its was such a wonderful experience. There’s really not much to fault. Perhaps not have access to the beachfront but we understand the work being done is to enhance accessibility to the beach so it will look amazing once done and is only temporary.
- Georgy (6/5): A pleasant villa with DEBILITATING NOISE LEVELS - The villa is right on the beach, the staff were friendly and effective. The property is located in the middle of a Balinese village with people who keep fighting roosters (a rather common occurrence in Bali. Those roosters scream most of the daytime making it impossible to take a nap AND waking one up at 5:30 morning. There’s no escaping the noise, no headphones or earplugs will help. Bad value for money overall - other villas in the area can be rented for the same price with better and newer facilities and no noise issues.
- Nicole (10/5): Can’t wait to go back - Amazing staff. So friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Amazing food. Best relaxing stay. Close to Blue Lagoon for great snorkelling. Didn’t stay long enough
- Wayne (10/5): the nicest accommodation I have ever stayed in, a real 5 star property, - this is an exceptional property, from the moment you walk through the gates you are met with a truly stunning view, the villa itself is true luxury, and the staff we're exceptional, we ate at the villa every night and the meals were fantastic, freshly cooked in the villa kitchen, if I could rate this as 11/10 it is what it deserves, leaving,
- Samantha (10/5): Incredible. 100% recommend to those looking for a stay in Candidasa. - The villa was amazing!!
Komang, Ketut, Maddie and the rest of the team were really lovely - so so friendly, really helpful and made sure we were completely looked after, even greeting us with cold towels on arrival.
When we walked through the gate we were a little blown away by the pool, garden and sea/beach views - which are beautiful. The sea is super clear and often very still for swimming and kayaking, the pool was great and loads of facilities e.g. sun loungers and pool table.
The bedrooms were huge, clean, comfortable and with beautiful sea views. The master suite had stunning views, and was a great place to watch the amazing sunsets.
Choice of breakfast was provided each morning and we ended up eating a lot of lunch and dinners in the villa because we enjoyed the food.
We loved our stay and would definitely recommend to others.
The local area is quiet and has less going on than other parts of Bali - this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but worth being aware of, that said it was near Virgin Beach which was stunning and definitely worth a visit or two. Nothing at all about the villa itself.
Before arriving, looking on Google Maps it appeared that Candidasa was approx an hour from e.g. the airport and other day trip visits we wanted to explore, but arriving in Bali, with the traffic all trips were often double the time on maps so we didn't see and do as much as we thought we might - but the villa was so great, we just enjoyed staying in more anyway!!
We went to Nusa Penida for a day trip, to anyone else planning this, avoid the day trip with a car pick up once on the island -- we spent a lot of the day in the car rather than actually enjoying the island. Had we have known better beforehand, we would have gone with the more expensive private boat option which would have allowed us to see more, or alternatively skipped the island tour and opted for the specific manta trip, as we didn't get time to do this in the end which was what we really wanted to experience.
- Lucy (10/5): Beautiful Gem- highly recommend it - A gorgeous house in a serene and beautiful seaside town in Bali. Komang and team are fantastic, nothing was too much for them It was interesting to chat with her regarding the culture and religion in Bal8. Loved every minute of my stay. The early morning Cock-A-Doodle-Doo
- Stephanie (10/5): A private villa dream come true, everything was just perfect! - Everything!
It’s was the best villa experience we could wish for. The staff was wonderful, the views amazing and the scenery to die for. -
- Derrick (10/5): Unparalleled experience at Cocoa Maya - Everything was outstanding. Communications with the owner were prompt. The staff, led by Komang, were all exceptional. The villa was pristinely clean and well maintained. The wow factor is evident upon entering the villa and gazing at the ocean that is just behind the rear yard. Every request and/or concern was addressed quickly. The location in Candidasa is excellent for those travelers looking for a location a bit away from the nightlife of Kuta and Canggu, and seeking more of an authentic, relaxing Bali experience. Book this villa without hesitation. You will not be disappointed. Without question, it is the best Villa that we have ever booked. The only issue that I can think of is that the master bedroom on the 3rd floor could use some additional lighting towards the evenings.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Everything - staff, location, food, facilities Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Absolutely fantastic villa, in perfect location, with lovely hard working, discreet staff. - The Villa staff were there ready to greet us, showed us around and made us feel instantly welcome and comfortable.
The Villa is fantastic, even better than the photos! Beautiful rooms, so much glass, floor to ceiling, amazing views ,so close to the sea, beach and beautiful gardens. We enjoyed eating outside most of the time, better than any restaurant for location! Snorkling and kayaking straight off the beach was great fun.
The villa pool is fantastic, larger and deeper than I thought it looked from the photo.
Wide ranging menu to choose meals to be cooked by in villa chef, which suited our group well, with some fussier eaters. The staff just ask for around 2hrs notice for meals but are flexible. Reasonable cost.
Daily housekeeping to a high standard.
Easy walking distance to nearest high street shops ( with gifts shops, food convenience , restaurants and spas, although Candidasa is a small rural place.
We had a private driver ( very los cost) who helped us get to all the best places in Bali, and make the most of our holiday.
Wished we had booked for longer. Our weather wasn't great but even when it rained, there is a lovely outdoor seating area, covered, very comfortable with loads of cushions, looking out to sea. Getting out on excursions ( to Ubud, Waterfalls, Quad biking, temples, traditional villages/ workshops, coffee plantation etc) on alternate days worked well with changeable weather. Unusual for the time of year ( 5th July for 6nights).
The villa toilets smelled of sewage , presumably related to the heavy rain? But we just kept the doors shut!
- Suzanne (10/5): Villa Cocoa Maya exceeded all of our expectations. - Villa Cocoa Maya is a beautiful villa located on the beachfront in Candi Dasa. Every room was divine with their own bathroom and stunning views of tiny islands and the surrounding palm fringed coast and interior. The pool was huge with plenty of sun lounges in a tropical garden shaded by frangipani trees. We were a large family group so we were extremely grateful to our villa manager Komang who organised all our transport needs for various excursions including a snorkelling tour to The Blue Lagoon and water palaces, as well as massages at the villa, restaurant bookings and all our meals. The rest of the staff were also delightful and the food was so delicious that we rarely went out for meals preferring to have them at the huge table in the garden watching the sunrise and sunsets. We were really sad to leave and cannot wait to return sometime in the future to this magical place. We loved everything.
- Anu (8/5): Very good -
