Guest Reviews
- Mark (8/5): Great stay at Neuadd. I will be back. - Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was plentiful and very tasty. The ales were always good. Very little!
- Ruth (8/5): -
- Ernest (8/5): - We had to visit family, and on the way through to North Wales. This is a must stop. Great home cooked food and freindly faces. Fantastic and relaxed breakfast. No feeling of rushed.
We are stopping again soon. EV charger also for 4 cars. Such a relaxed country town.
Kind Regards Wyn Sarah & Winnie..
- michael (9/5): - Bit dated but that gives it a certain charm friendly staff. Decent breakfast if hiking.
- PETER (9/5): - Overall the staff are friendly, polite and helpful. Food was very good and made from fresh ingrediants.
- Robert (8/5): -
- BAZ2022 (6/5): Very friendly hotel with lovely staff, although very tired in decor and quality of bedrooms. - Breakfast was good, staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location, some parking, and cosy (fireplace etc) lounges/bars. Two gorgeous house dogs relaxed in the lounge. The hotel rooms suffer from being decorated and fitted many years ago, and are well past their sell-by date. However, the rooms do look like the photos online and I was not surprised by the lesser quality on arrival. The shower was only lukewarm and very small, so they need to check their plumbing. It's a hotel that needs a re-fit, but if paying a discounted room fee for a solo room - as I was (£60) - it was therefore an ok price, especially so when a full breakfast was included. So if always competitively priced for all rooms, then it's OK I guess. Being fairly remote, it must be a good stop for friendly bikers and tourists, a small Premier supermarket very close, and a quality restaurant close by, so, I was happy overall, and slept fairly well. The pub bar/lounge looks very cosy/welcoming, although we didn't have time to use it.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Nicholas (9/5): Overall, a really enjoyable stay, brilliant meals and lovely service. - Lovely old historic hotel, a little 'frayed' at the edges, but with bags of character and helpful staff. Excellent location, excellent breakfast/evening meals, with a very good selection of beers/ales at the bar. Even not getting a parking place wasn't a problem as there was a car park right by the hotel. Mattress was a little on the thin side and bathroom needed upgrading.
- David (10/5): -
- Gray (8/5): Friendly stay at this very old and atmospheric inn. - Great location, nice wee town, friendly and lively atmosphere.
- Jane (10/5): Friendly and unique - This one of a kind hotel was friendly and comfortable. Such a change from the big chain all the same hotels. Nothing
- Lisa (8/5): Comfortable, friendly stay in a quirky old building. We would definitely stay again. - Excellent location, with free parking at the front of the property. The owners and the lady behind the bar (apologies I can't remember your name) were all excellent, extremely welcoming, accommodating and nothing was a rush or too much trouble. The building is full of character, old, a little delipidated, stuck in time..... but that really gives it it's unique charm.
We had a large room with a comfortable bed and a beautiful view across the hills. Despite it being right on the junction, traffic noise was no issue at all, partly because traffic flow is so light.
Breakfast was in a beautiful old restaurant. Cereals and fresh chopped fruit was available, followed by a lovely cooked breakfast. Choices are a full English or Vegetarian, or a combination of whatever components that you like.
If you are looking for sleek, corporate and hi tech, this is not for you. If you are looking for quirky, old and interesting, with helpful, friendly and informative staff, then this is for you. Be aware that WIFI in certain parts of the building doesn't work (Four poster room it didn't reach to). As the building is so old and the walls so thick, this is no surprise. It was a minor inconvenience, and something that I'm sure will be looked at at some point.
- Letmore (6/5): It was worth the money - Easily accessible
- claudine (6/5): - Very good service, friendly staff, comfy bed Bath to shower switch was very hard to operate.
WiFi inadequate
- Jan (8/5): Comfortable, friendly hotel with good food. Excellent location. - The hotel was a little shabby, but it was comfortable, the atmosphere friendly, the staff very helpful. The food (I had two breakfasts and one dinner) was good.
Overall I was very happy. Staff did advise me there was no need to book for dinner on the Saturday night - unfortunately it would have been much better if I had booked, staff in the evening sorted things out, but there was quite a delay before I could get dinner (which itself was very good).
- Rob (10/5): -
- Evans (8/5): It satisfied our needs for a break in our journey - A beautiful, old property which the owners are endeavouring to maintain. There was nothing we disliked. It met our expectations. The owners and staff were friendly and efficient
- Simon (10/5): - Staff excellent. Great view of the town Nothing
- Vanessa (7/5): Great location, amazing hosts, tasty grub! Just needs some sprucing - Very friendly staff, some great tips on places to go and see, good hearty food! A little dated with cobwebs but quirky/rustic.
- David (9/5): Very welcoming and comfortable. Evening Food was good too! - Location couldn't be more central.
Breakfast very good.
Staff wonderful.
It's an old hotel and it's beginning to show it's age, but the owners are on top of it. If I had to nit-pick, there wasn't enough water pressure to get a spray out of the shower - had to stand under a stream of warm water. In fairness, I know those Tritons are pressure sensitive from bitter experience!
You seem to have plenty of hot water on mains so maybe a mixer shower might work better? Just a suggestion.
Sorry I had to leave you with such indecent haste but I'd overslept by 90 minutes and was holding up the entire group who were homeward bound, so understandably they were champing at the bit to hit the road on time. Thank you both for making my stay so pleasant. Dave.
- Jakub (10/5): - 11/10
- Barry (10/5): -
- familyb3 (8/5): Friendly hotel - Great location, friendly host's and staff.
Delicious Home made meals and good breakfast. The ceiling in bedrooms need some attention. It's a overall work in process of restoring the hotel, but saying this, this gives the hotel a quirkiness and does not spoil you stay.
- Dalecka (10/5): -
- Liz (9/5): Lovely and warm and comfortable - Clean and central with lovely staff and a great atmosphere
- Juan Kamilo (10/5): Great stay, thank you - Manager was really accomodating. Unique, traditional place with great staff. No shampooo or conditioner
- Hayley (8/5): Comfortable and clean with excellent food and drink. - Lovely setting, clean and comfortable. Lovely big bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and staff were all lovely-friendly and helpful. Great with our dog. Room a little small but bathroom made up for it.
- Monica (10/5): - What a wonderful property run by wonderful people that go above and beyond to make you feel part of the family.
- Claire (9/5): - Beautiful old building,!
Staff very friendly and helpful, food was great and the room , even though the decor was dated was lovely and clean.
Would definitely stay again.
- angela (10/5): Excellent food, amazing people - Excellent location, quirky and characterful
- Simon (10/5): - Great hotel with lots of character. Great bar.open all day and stocked with full range of Heart of Wales ales from local brewery. Great location for railway and walking. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): - I didn't spend much time in the area as I traveled to see friends further south and used this as a base.
I had the cooked breakfast both days and had an evening meal on the second night - the food was delicious! I was a bit worried about parking as I was unaware that it was bog snorkeling weekend and so was a popular place to be,!
- David (6/5): Had a good weekend, everyone very friendly - Breakfast was very good Could have had better beds, not very comfy
- Russell (9/5): Cottage stay - excellent - Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast service was brilliant. N/A
- David (7/5): Good food, good staff, made to feel welcome, would stay there again. - All food excellent, excellent location for 8 motorbikers. Staff very friendly, helpful & happy! Hotel a little dated but didn't spoil our trip, would stay there again, felt welcome.
- Tony (10/5): Please stay there it’s a great place. Food Staff Excellent. - This Hotel is over 100 years old. It has character and a sense of total relaxation. If you want a modern bright hotel with no personality don’t go. Staff are very friendly, the owners are on sight again made you feel very welcome. All food seemed to be homemade. Me and my brother stayed there and we both agreed the food was excellent. Breakfast made to order every morning. Again the best quality rasher sausage etc. I would totally recommend this place. I don’t often do reviews but they deserve good feedback. Would have loved to stay a few more nights.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Marcus (8/5): Clean room good shower and good breakfast - Great parking outside the front door and shop straight opposite proper old school hotel feel Rooms a bit dated
- Edwin (10/5): A very pleasant stay, and my dog loved it. - A lovely family run hotel, rooms well laid out with everything you need. The meals were very good with a good selection.
- Jayne (1/5): Beyond disappointed! - Central. Looked good at first sight. I booked this on the strength of the good review;. big mistake. Booked for the 30th and 31st December. When we arrived at around 6pm Room 1 st the top of the stairs, above the bar was warm despite very low temperature outside. We were visiting family in the town so we unpacked and went out.
Returned at midnight as we had arranged on checked in. We were locked out, tried knocking for a while and had to call to get let in. At this point it was minus 2 outside and dropping. However, it was just as cold if not colder in our room. No heating on despite the temperature outside and it clearly had not been on for hours.
The double bed which is not a standard double had a light summer quilt on it. There was a shabby blanket which we did use on the bed but it was still totally inadequate. We both had to sleep fully clothed under the quilt with the blanket up over our heads and our coats on the bed too; no romance for us!
The mattress was so thin and/or old that we could feel the spring bed through it. I have never been so uncomfortable in my entire life, apart from when I was in army on exercise sleeping rough.
From 4am onwards I gave up on sleep and looked online for somewhere else to stay. As soon as I could face going into the even colder bathroom (still no heating in the room) I went to check in at the Belle Vue across the road. Returning only to collect luggage and my very tired and grumpy partner.
I spoke to a lady on reception (who was nice) and I explained we were checking out and why. Apparently the owner was busy getting ready for NYE, so when I was asked if there was anything further she could do, I replied that a refund on the remaining night would be appreciated; of course that has not been forthcoming.
At £120 per night this was overpriced (we did not eat breakfast) because it was only being served until just after nine and neither of us were in the mood for small talk; we just wanted to get out of there and get warm.
- Russ (8/5): Convenient for what we needed and very pleasant staff - A great bolt hole for us at the start of a crazy few days away. It was a busy night, which wasn't a surpise and being on the top floor I was away from the ground floor.
- Linda (7/5): -
- stuart (10/5): - Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Excellent breakfast and a lovely room.
- Evans (10/5): Verry pleasant staff and excellent food. - Friendliness Nothing
- King (7/5): Comfortable for what we needed - Warming Stairs
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): A great stay at this quirky hotel. Excellent food and staff. - amazing size of the bathroom
- Martin (8/5): - Excellent breakfast. My single room had an exceptionally small shower room.
- Stephanie (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Richard Smith (8/5): Historic and friendly - The hotel is well-located for exploring mid-Wales and has a car park to the front. Contact with the hotel was excellent throughout and I was offered a free upgrade of room so that I had a shower rather than a bath which I had, apparently, booked. I was warned that my new room, Room 1, was above the bar and could therefore be noisy.....and it was due to large wake that lasted quite some time. Despite being so busy I was able to get a drink and evening meal and the food, Gujarat Beef followed by Sticky Toffee and Date pudding, was very good. A full cooked breakfast was included and was also good. The noise from the bar actually stopped by 10.30pm. The hotel is 160 years old and does show it's age.......my bedroom door had sizeable gaps between it and the door frame and the floor was anything but level. The bed was also noisy and creaked loudly with every movement I made.
- Katarina (7/5): - Very friendly Host, clean and tidy hotel in a lovely little Town. Stayed with 2 of my dogs that welcomed as family and not charged for staying :)
- Sukhdev Singh (4/5): -
- stuart (8/5): Hasta la Vista - Both evening meals exceptional taste
First day breakfast equally good, second day was a packed lunch which was fine
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely friendly and helpful hosts and staff. Great location, lovely characterful building. Large room, comfy bed. Friendly locals too. Everything was fabulous, nothing to dislike
- David (10/5): A lovely, relaxed couple of days with lovely staff and a great G & T by the log fire - The food was excellent, staff (and locals) were very welcoming and made us part of their little community N/A, I enjoyed my stay and will hopefully return
- Gurmuckh (10/5): - Great friendly service, and great food in a quiet and peaceful location.
- Paul (10/5): - Very nice old hotel with original features. Staff very friendly and food home cooked and very nice
- Susan (7/5): Good. I would stay there again - Excellent breakfast. Lovely breakfast and cleaning staff Creaky floors
- Paul (10/5): When you want to do just nothing - Right in the centre, fantastic breakfast, beer excellent Nothing to add
- Ian (8/5): Dog friendly, quirky place would stay there again - We visited Llanwrtyd Wells because it was unusual and off the beaten track we were looking for different / quirky and it didn't disappoint.
The Neuadd Arms is a lovely family run hotel, very dog friendly and welcoming. Friendly staff and customers, all up for a chat. It's not the first hotel I[ve stayed in where the walls, floors and ceiling dont meet at a right angle which makes it all the more appealing - it's genuine.
If you ever want to visit the smallest town in the UK (Llanwrtyd Wells) then I strongly suggest you consider staying at the Neuadd Arms.
- Nick (8/5): -
- Yvette (8/5): -
- Mary (8/5): -
- Ian (7/5): - A quirky old fashioned hotel in the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells. Very friendly welcome and service, great selection of beers, nice breakfast. Car park 50 yds away. Its an old fashioned hotel, if you want a modern hotel with straight lines then its not for you!
- RICHARD (10/5): - The atmosphere, friendly staff and customers, Bog snorkeling world championships going on so very busy N/A
- Hayley (10/5): Lovely quirky hotel in the middle of beautiful Wales - How clean and quirky the hotel is
- Karen (8/5): -
- Bob (9/5): Friendly staff focused on residents' comfort and needs. - An excellent breakfast. Have what you want, provided they've got it. The owners and staff were very keen to ensure a comfortable stay. Alex and colleagues were very attentive at breakfast and dinner, even though they were very busy due to my stay coinciding with their Bog Snorkelling weekend. It was nice to stay in a hotel which didn't have the smooth running yet souless pretention of a hotel chain. Exiting my room to find the friendly hotel dog had chosen my corridor for a sleep added to the charm of the place. If you want immaculate and expensive fittings the same in every room, or communal hall carpets showing no signs of wear, then this place isn't for you. But if you want an old building with character and caring staff, then it is. Remind residents they should book early for dinner during very busy times.
- Angela (8/5): Always a unique experience. Everyone works so hard to give you a great stay - Perfect place to stay for the Bog Snorkel and any other events held in the area
- John (7/5): -
- William Ian (8/5): -
- stuart (6/5): - Location, friendly staff. I was on a motorcycle and they let me park round the back in the garden so was nice and safe. Food was really good. A bit dated but acceptable
- Derek (8/5): Trip to Wales - Very helpful owner as we needed breakfast very early and she went out of her way to accommodate us and even sorted a packed lunch for us one morning.
- Benjamin (8/5): -
- Gail (1/5): - Awful service awful place !!! Everything , Staff ,rooms and the disorganisation beforehand!! And putting dog up 2 fights of steep stairs as they had messed up our booking the evening before arriving shocking service like they could t be bothered weren't friendly at all
- Danielle (9/5): Lovely hotel and lovely staff even nicer breakfast :) - Lovely property old fashioned but that’s part of the heritage and if you visit the heritage centre nearby it has some interesting history! Beautiful room we stayed in the green room and it was lovely I couldn’t stay longer :(
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Hayley (8/5): Very good - Great location in a lovely village
- Andrew (9/5): Good place to stop with a genuine welcome - Full of character. Very welcoming and most helpful staff. Good food and drinks. We enjoyed our stay. Nothing wrong with the property. The owners are slowly modernising without losing the character of the original building.
- Crick (8/5): Very good - old fashioned decor, the bar, staff helpfulness
- Lewis (8/5): Repeat visit! - Clean, staff great Lack of shower
- John (5/5): Functional but very basic - Location Poor upkeep
- Ian (6/5): Weekend fun. - Location was perfect for our trip, meals excellent, hotel certainly had character. Apart from the hotel being in a poor state due to age etc, not a lot.
- William (9/5): The Neuadd Arms is a quaint throwback to a bygone age. - I was catching an early morning train on the Heart of Wales Line to go walking, when I mentioned I'd be leaving before breakfast they offered a packed breakfast/lunch which was excellent.
- Alyson (8/5): Great location - Great location if you are staying in Llanwrtyd It’s a bit tired
- Kerol (6/5): The staff were lovely , location and view sat outside was lovely . - The staff were lovely , plenty of drinks to choose from. They were very accomadating with the parking. The room was dated, a little tlc needed example ripped lino in bathroom, a little dampness, bed uncomfortable.
- Tracey (7/5): Good - Clean comfy bed. Good breakfast Generally needs an upgrade. Lots of flies in public bar and restaurant
- Grant (6/5): Charming old hotel with some quirks. - Very welcoming. Clean and a great location for the man v Horse race. This building is 160 years old and very charming but don't expect modern facilities. Decor is very dated. Our rubber shower attachment on the bath took me back to my childhood in the 70s!
Hot water was limited first thing in the morning and early evening. The hot tap was actually dry when we returned from running the man v Horse race and needed to get clean.
I suspect when the hotel isn't fully occupied this might not be a problem.
The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable but others staying said theirs were fine so maybe luck of the drawer

- Noel (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay in the Neuadd Arms. It’sa great hotel with grrst staff - This hotel oozes character and charm. They serve great food and pints. And a great breakfast in the morning to set you up for the day. Excellent staff. Nothing
- Noel (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay in the Neuadd Arms. It’s a great place to stay - I liked everything about the Neuadd Arms Hotel. Good old fashioned Welsh hospitality. Great staff, great food and great atmosphere. It’s the way hotels should be. Nothing.
- Ann (7/5): Great weekend for Man v Horse staying at the heart of the town in an iconic hotel/pub. It’s not modern, it’s traditi - Location was perfect as I was doing an event starting right outside. The hotel is iconic and main focal point of the town. Superb breakfast. Hot water took a while to come out of the tap for the bath. I was very muddy and the shower attachment didn’t fit properly and hot water was Luke warm. This was when everyone else was using the water. Nice big bath though but I would have preferred a shower.
- Gabriel (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dena (10/5): Exceptional - Welcoming.. homely.. comfortable. Everyone was so lovely and helpful. Our dog was made welcome.. and given sausages every morning. Thank you 😊
- Andrew (7/5): Great Motorbike night stop - On a motorbike tour with couple of friends, ideal location, secure parking for bikes to rear of property.. very friendly/helpful staff In need of a refurbishment
- Rick (10/5): Fine location with great staff - Super friendly staff, very dog friendly, great location for our stay. Basking in the sun on the front terrace added to the stay. Great beer brewed on site and super good value meals Not much, super value property. Very traditional but that suits us for the price/service
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
