- Foot (5/5): Location good, room 5 was clean and modern but too small and the mattress was too soft. - The breakfast was lovely and included cereal, toast, fruit and pastries. We were expecting a full English and there were only breakfast baps on offer. The location and parking were good. The room was very clean. The staff were friendly. We stayed in room 5 which was very small. The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable as it was too soft and we rolled together in the middle. There was a wet room and when showering it got everything wet including the toilet, towels etc. The drawer in bathroom was difficult to close.

The room gets hot as you can’t fully open the sash windows but they provide fans. It’s a key code entry which is great. The toilet did not flush properly which is more of an issue as the bathroom is not a separate room. It is partitioned off with glass screens that do not reach the ceiling. The grout on the floor of the shower was old and dirty. Shower was not powerful and was very small. Due to it being a wet room the toilet area gets wet once you’ve had a shower. Toiletries were tiny. The bed (we had the superior king room) definitely dips either side so is higher in the middle.

- Julie (10/5): Fab find - A gorgeous little wine bar with the most beautiful bedrooms. VERY comfy bed. Lovely friendly staff. Great location for sightseeing & lots of bars, shops & restaurants close by. Definitely recommend.
- Jane (7/5): Underwhelming stay in Portsmouth - Great location for exploring Portsmouth and the surrounding area. We liked the style of the property, our room was clean and comfortable. Probably the most underwhelming breakfast we have had anywhere. Appeared to be a lack of staff, we actually walked out of the bar on the Saturday eve as no staff behind the bar to serve us. Road noise and noise from the room above do not make for relaxing place to stay.

- Patrick (8/5): Becketts is a great value for a short stay in Portsmouth. - Becketts is a converted townhouse with restaurant/ bar on the ground floor. It is in a good , safe location, an easy walk to tourist attractions and shops. The staff was helpful, providing a good orientation, and the free continental breakfast was quite good and hearty. Also the bed was quite comfortable and the tv a nice large screen. My bathroom was quite small, with shower drain in the middle of the floor, hand held shower. I didn’t use the shower because everything would get wet.

- Aaron (5/5): - The room was wonderful and the staff were polite and friendly, the decor and layout of the venue was also very cosy. The stand out person was a young gentleman named Felix, very professional, very understanding and attentive my score would have been lower if it wasn't for Felix. We were disappointed with our recent stay, particularly given that we spent over £200 for one night. Upon arrival, we were not informed in advance that the venue was hosting two private functions. Instead, we were greeted with a note on the front door stating that the premises were closed due to these events. To the left of the main entrance was a separate door labelled “reservations,” equipped with a doorbell. After reading the notice, I rang the bell, assuming this was the correct procedure. A member of staff responded and, when I explained that we had a booking, I was told, “See that door handle under the doorbell? Give that a twist and open the door.” I found this response unnecessarily condescending and unprofessional. Due to the private functions, my wife and I had to walk through a family celebration, which felt intrusive and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. We were then seated in a small breakfast area, effectively separated from the rest of the venue. As we had chosen this stay to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday in Portsmouth, an area we both love, this was particularly disappointing. While we appreciated the complimentary bottle of Peroni and glass of prosecco, which was a thoughtful gesture, there were also cleanliness concerns. Under the bed, we found a dirty sock, a build-up of dust, and a half-used bottle of shower gel. The remainder of the room was clean, but these oversights detracted from the overall experience. Felix, a member of staff, did look after us well, and the younger team members were a positive aspect of the stay. The décor and layout of the venue were also appealing. However, the breakfast offering, although included, was quite limited, consisting of basic options such as fruit, pastries, toast, boiled eggs, or a simple bacon or sausage bap. Overall, while there were some positive elements, the experience did not meet expectations, and greater attention to communication, service, and detail would significantly improve the stay.

- Natacha Truong (9/5): - L'établissement est très chaleureux, reposant et pittoresque. Le lit était immense et globalement confortable. Mais un côté penchait plus qu'un autre (peut-être penser à retourner le matelas de temps en temps ?). La salle de bain avait tout ce qu'il fallait et la TV fonctionnait très bien. Le petit déjeuner était varié et suffisant. Le personnel était très sympathique. Le rideau de la fenêtre était un peu déchiré.

I was carrying my luggage around for a couple of hours. It was suggested I could ring the bell and the housekeeper would let me leave my luggage, but there was no reply. OK as I only had stuff for a couple of days, could be an issue for those with more luggage.

- Metje (8/5): Rekening houdend met lage prijs, goed! - Super vriendelijke gastvrouw. Leuke ontbijtzaal, mooi decor, met voldoende continentaal ontbijt. Ruim bed. Het is echt een kunst om een douche te nemen in de badkamer met toilet zonder alles nat te maken gezien scherm van 50cm. Lavabo in kamer 6 (luxe kamer) hangt veel te laag. Dikke laag stof op plafondlamp en lampen naast bed. Voegen badkamervloer erg vies en ook achter badkamerdeur heel vuil. Daar wordt waarschijnlijk altijd vergeten om te poetsen.. Stores aan ramen laten nog heel veel licht door, verduistering dus niet OK waardoor ik vroeg wakker was.

Hotel had a lovely bar & breakfast was included which was lovely as well. The staff at Becketts Townhouse house were brilliant, very helpful and professional at all times. - JMK (10/5): Υπέροχη εξυπηρέτηση. - Μικρό αλλά πολύ ζεστό και περιποιημένο δωμάτιο, με όλα τα απαραίτητα. Πολύ καθαροί όλοι οι χώροι. Καινούργιο μπάνιο. Στα αρνητικά θα βάλω το στρώμα που ήταν πολύ μαλακό, ένιωθα να βουλιάζω, αλλά αυτό είναι καθαρά προσωπική προτίμηση. Απλό αλλά πολύ προσεγμένο πρωινό, μπορούσες να έχεις ένα πλήρες πρωινό για να ξεκινήσεις τη μέρα σου. Πολύ νόστιμα ζεστά σάντουιτς που ετοιμάζονταν εκείνη τη στιγμή. Το προσωπικό ήταν πάρα πολύ φιλικό και ευγενικό, πρόθυμοι να βοηθήσουν και δώσουν συμβουλές - οδηγίες.
- Suzie (10/5): Relaxing, comfy and cosy stay! - Bed was so comfy! This is the second time I have stayed at Becketts and the bed and bedding was equally as nice as my previous stay (in a different room) which was great as it was something I was looking forward to. The cocktails were also really lovely so I recommend visiting the bar. I think the bathroom could do with some improvement. The bedroom was 10/10 but I had the following issues with the bathroom- the vent on the wall was broken and as we stayed during a very windy night, it made a lot of noise which kept me up. The shower drain also takes a long time to drain so the bathroom almost flooded. Wasn't a huge issue so I didn't feel the need to bring anything up to staff during the visit but just something that I thought could use some improvement in future. Didn't affect our stay too much and we know that other bathrooms are slightly different so maybe it's just this room.

- Hans (9/5): Great little hotel. - Our second stay at Becketts and we will be back. Lovely room and the whole hotel is tastefully decorated. A real find.

- Esther (10/5): The gem of Portsmouth! - Everything was incredibly well kept. Our rooms were clean, warm, and so inviting. We had a lot of bags, but staff was wonderful and arranged to have them delivered to our rooms. Breakfast was light but delicious. Staff members were wonderfully attentive, informative, and welcoming. Honestly, nothing. We loved everything. The only thing I missed was having a fridge in my room, but then again I was fine without it.

- Dear (10/5): Exactly what we wanted and needed. - Super location, comfy beds, friendly staff. Nothing really. I guess if I had to pick one thing the lack of double glazing makes it a bit noisy. But nothing major. On street car parking is expensive.

- Emilie (10/5): Would stay there again - The rooms and access to the hotel after hours were accessible via a code instead of keys which gave us peace of mind we wouldn’t have to worry about losing them. The mattress was incredibly comfortable & room was modern and clean. Breakfast was included and the coffee was really nice. Checkout was also 11am instead of 10 which made our morning a lot more relaxing knowing we didn’t have to stress about checking out in time. Not a fault but the rooms aren’t the most sound proof so could hear people walking around in the room upstairs, but it didn’t affect our stay too much.

- Sarah (10/5): Great boutique hotel - Excellent value for money, comfortable bed, boutique styling. Clean every amenity. Staff helpful friendly, breakfast included in the great value price was fresh fruit yoghurt freshly prepared bread and croissants and delicious sausage/bacon baps selection of tea and coffee. Fabulous! Would definitely stay again. Location walking distance to historical Portsmouth.
- Lois (8/5): I really enjoyed staying here! I was in contact with Mia leading up to our stay, and she was very helpful and quick to r - The property was spacious, clean, quiet and I loved the decor. The shower was small, and as it was a wet room, the bathroom easily became extremely flooded. The toilet was temperamental and often did not flush. As our stay was short, it didn’t impact us too much; however, it would be an issue for a longer stay.

- Katharina (6/5): Aufenthalt war ok, das Frühstück den Preis jedoch nicht wert und das Bad fehlgeplant, Personal sehr nett. - Das Personal war sehr nett und alles in allem hat es uns gut gefallen. Falls gewünscht gab es tägliche Service für’s Zimmer. Das Frühstück war inbegriffen. Die Zimmer variieren glaube ich. Unser Bad hatte eine offene Dusche, was bedeutet, dass man alles nass macht bzw. überschwemmt, wenn man duscht. Leider lässt sich der Föhn zudem nicht im Bad einstecken, was bedeutet, dass man den Spiegel nicht schnell vom Dunst befreien kann und sich die Haare im Zimmer föhnen muss. Das Zimmer, in dem wir waren, war zudem sehr eng. Es gab keinen Platz zwei Koffer auf dem Boden hinzulegen. Das Frühstück war ok, jeden Tag das gleiche: Müsli, Joghurt, Croissants oder Schokotasche mit Butter und Marmelade. Obst gab es auch, jedoch sah das nicht sehr frisch aus. Zudem konnte man sich typisch englisches Frühstück zubereiten lassen (Toasties mit Butter, Bacon, Würste etc.) Tee oder Kaffee gab es auch.
- Stephen (9/5): Hugely convenient for the Hovercraft and the City and local beaches. - Breakfast was excellent, a change from the usual fayre from the major Hotel chains, self service, you could order either a hot bacon, or, sausage bap, which the serving staff arranged quickly for you, which was quite wholesome and accompanied the cereals and croissants very well, and when you added in the fruit and yoghurts available, with a pot of tea to wash it all down, it was a great start to the day, heartily recommended. I had a few beers from the bar in the evenings, all the staff I met were very polite, friendly and offered excellent service, I couldn't have asked for anything better. The bar and lounge areas were tastefully furnished, everything looked quite chic and modern. The room was small to include a double bed and wardrobe, stool, table, etc, the door to the bathroom couldn't open fully as the bed was partly in the way, but, the facilities were fairly new and all the room basics were conveniently available. I don't have a car, so, I was delighted to learn that the local bus services had stops right outside the front door down to the Hoverport and beyond to Southsea, and directly across the road to go into the City, there is a pedestrian crossing close by. Local town buses were very frequent (every 10 minutes during the day Mon-Fri), so, you didn't have to wait too long for a connection in either direction. The Hotel is situated close to the City Centre you could walk there if you felt energetic enough across to the Dockyard and Maritime Museums, or, up to the shops and amenities, however, if you have suitcases and other luggage, it's probably advisable to take the 5 minute bus ride up to the Interchange for trains, or, coaches, to other destinations. The Hoverport is an 8/10 minute walk from the hotel straight down the main road, a flight across to Ryde on the Isle of Wight is certainly worth a try if you have the time and you could also visit Clarence Pier and the local amusement attractions. You need to have an open mind when visiting, the hotel appears to be 2 townhouses knocked together, the stairs are quite narrow, the rooms are small, but, they are tastefully furnished, everything looks quite new, the tea/coffee making facilities I found in the cupboard as there is probably not much room to have everything out on display, but, they included an ice bucket and a stool, linen in the closet, with plenty of coathangars and a tv with lots of channels available, so, most things that you would expect to find in a bedroom.
- Anatoliy (5/5): Passable for a one-night stay. - No fridge, tiny floor standing AC that uses ICE (no ice was offered though), nobody was there until 3 pm, the room was ready by 3:40 pm, awful buffet with extremely slow service, no elevator, no porter. Will not return.

It was the smallest hotel bedroom we have ever stayed in. Couldn't op0en the ensuite door fully because it hit the bed. We stayed in Room 2.
