Guest Reviews
- Nanci (9/5): Good for traveling with dogs, but needs a dog walking path or dog park. - Tasty More vegetarian choices on menu.
- Laura (1/5): - nunca respondieron mis mensajes ni llamadas. Pésima atención al cliente.
- Terese (10/5): Perfect little getaway. - Cute little property 15 miles from Leavenworth. 1/2 the price of staying in Leavenworth town. Also great restaurant and bar. Quiet. Not a thing.
- Aaron (7/5): -
- Irene (8/5): - Clean, comfortable beds
- Drew (8/5): Sweet - The attached bar/restaurant and surrounding areas were great for socializing TV was too small
- Ean (10/5): -
- ryan (10/5): -
- Carl (7/5): Beds and wings are great, tv isn't - Comfortable beds and good heat with temp control. Very good wings and service at bar area. Location is within 22 miles from Stevens Pass. Several stays through the years, and tv reception/system problems have occurred every time. No light over coffee machine, and the machine is not a good one.
- Paula (9/5): -
- Jean (9/5): À recommander pour une sortie de ski à Stevens Pass - L'emplacement pour un séjour de ski à Stevens Pass.
- Jeff (8/5): -
- Oren (7/5): -
- J DeAnna (8/5): -
- Estrada (10/5): Our stay was warm, delicious restaurant, and terrific staff. - Cozy and clean. Very adequate services, no fuss, however the staff treated us like we were in a 5star hotel. Surroundings were comfortable. Nothing
- sharon (8/5): -
- Susan and David (6/5): -
- Nguyen (10/5): Amazing!! Thank you Squirrel Tree. - Restaurant, cafe and bar next door with a pool table and darts
20 mins from downtown Leavenworth
Staffs are super nice
Rooms are roomy and clean
Spacey parking lot Only have 7 rooms so book early!!
- Karen (9/5): -
- Marco (10/5): - Das Motel ist der Hammer und und Restaurant genauso es ist perfekt und das Essen einfach nur lecker und die angestellten haben mehr als nur ein Lob verdient
- Walker Shosten (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Nicely located, updated old style motel at a prime location for outdoor activities... - Very good restaurant next door. Prime location to Parks and scenic overlooks. Easy 20 minute drive to Leavenworth, WA, the major town nearby. Very quite room and newly remodeled and utilitarian bathroom. Parking can be somewhat full when there is a game night and the bar and restaurant are full.
- Jennifer (5/5): -
- Arup (8/5): Decent value, good location, clean and comfortable rooms. - Very. nice location near to Lake Wenatchee as well as Tumwater Canyon. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was malfunctioning.
- grace (8/5): -
- Kat (5/5): Serious improvements are needed. - Really nice staff. The location was convenient. I will only comment on things that I feel the owners and team have control over and can improve upon based on their own efforts.
Whoever is “cleaning” the rooms needs a serious education on cleaning and how to properly sanitize a room shared by multiple people within a week’s time. The toilet and most of the surfaces were gross. Thankfully I gad some wipes to make me feel comfortable enough for the night. I’ve stayed in hundred of hotels, motels, hostels, B&Bs around the world and I did not feel cleanliness is the priority here…or that the cleaning staff actually know how to clean…?
Regarding security, the “extra security” that was supposed to be provided by an extra door lock….don’t lock to anything. (See image.)
The tv didn’t work.
After I saw the state of the room I chose to not eat in the restaurant, so I have no comment re: the food and restaurant. Although, the service staff seemed super kind and helpful.
I am not all that concerned about spiders, but I ran into one in the shower, one in my towel, and two in two separate windows (inside the room) I tried to open at different points during my 14 hour stay.
- Klair (10/5): - Clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel in good condition. Heater kept me warm. Love having a bar, gas station, and restaurant all together. Would book again!
- Sebastian (6/5): - The staff and owner was very friendly and helpful
- Cynthia (10/5): - Room was very clean, and comfortable. It was very quiet. The Squirrel Tree restaurant was excellent! No complaints!
- Paul (4/5): Dirty room - Room was very very dirty had loose and unvovered outlets. Would not recommend to anyone.
- ZOE (10/5): - Really nice room and bathroom. Beautiful outdoor seating as well as the inside, food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Overall great experience!
- MARY (8/5): Simple, Isolated But Clean and Comfortable - No microwave, other then the restaurant, no food options,
- Eric (6/5): - I was drawn to the property by the great photos of the original restaurant. It is a log constructed building that is beautiful. The additional bar was built to look like the old restaurant and almost made it. The motel rooms, although comfortable, have no relation to any of the rustic architecture of the original restaurant.
The other reason I tried this place to stay is that the way they presented it on Expedia was that it was a hop skip and a jump to Leavenworth. It is about 15 miles west of downtown, and those 15 miles are not an easy drive, especially in the dark.
When I booked my reservation, I could have had most any motel in Leavenworth on the river for the same price.
Unfortunately we were disappointed.
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Ishai (9/5): -
- Idah Liza (10/5): - Comfortable and quiet
- Williams (10/5): Appreciate the updates, loved the cozy comforter, grateful for a mini fridge and the restaurant next door had amazing fo - Perfectly in the middle from the 2 events we were planning for our weekend getaway: alpine coaster and Lake Wenatchee. Hard to say however the water took extra long to get warm and could have been hotter.
- Taylor (10/5): - Wonderful location just off the highway, only a short drive to Leavenworth and to Stephen's pass. The bartender Christiana was very pleasant and had a lot of good info on where to eat in town and the restaurant had an amazing breakfast. The rooms were clean and priced very well, absolute 10/10 place to stay. We will be returning for sure!
- Liberty (2/5): False Advertising - Falsely advertised that the property was in Leavenworth but is actually 20 miles away. When we called to cancel the appointment because of this they refused to refund our rate. Also refused to post this review because it didn't meet their posting guidlines.
- Laurie (10/5): - Very nice place. It was clean. The staff was very friendly. Nice place out of town to relax.
- Marina (10/5): - Great place!
- Daryl (10/5): Great stopover - Had a great stop over at the squirrel tree resort.
Good accomodation, great people and tasty meals and drinks.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.
- hawaiipr (9/5): A long drive with a sad story - Day one, my boat caught on fire with me and my grandson on board. Luckily no one was hurt, but we only stayed 1 of the 3 nights I booked. The staff accommodated us by early check-in. Bad start to a bonding trip but staff treated us well.
- Mary (6/5): Disappointed!! - Not too impressed with this place. We did an overnight to visit Leavenworth, I know it said how far but it just seemed like a long drive into town. Close to Lake Wenatchee though! The room was extremely plain and outdated! It had a strange odor. Even though it was nice to have a restaurant next door it was spendy!! I feel we were putting the morning waitress out of her way to be there! Anyway will not be on my list to stay again! Went with inexpensive but kind of thought it would be slightly nicer!
- Sandra (9/5): Really nice stay - we felt lucky to have scored a room there. - Immaculately clean and comfortable room, great rate compared to the surrounding lodging prices, nice large restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and live music. Live music ended around 9 pm, so not too late. There were also ear plugs provided, and a very loud fan that would drown out the noise if needed. Refrigerator in the room, toiletries including body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup remover wipes in the bathroom. King bed was very comfortable. Coffee shop and restaurant on site. Good steak, French fries, and cocktails. Lockbox on the thermostat in the room was a bit inconvenient, but there was a fan and heater in the room, so it was manageable. No ice machine. Curtains on the window were fairly thin, so they didn't block out the light, but we are early risers, so it wasn't an issue for us. The restaurant doesn't open for breakfast until 8 so we had to go into town to eat elsewhere.
- Maggie (8/5): - This property is small and next to a gas station. Seems a bit tacky on the outside but its good for what it is. It is clean, spacious, and modern enough on the inside. I would recommend it!
- Sylvia (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Food and cleanliness was very good.
- Jennifer (10/5): - .
- Sepela (6/5): Cozy stay and lovely folks - It was very nice. A warm feeling all around. Food and beverages were good. The service was nice. It was comfy and we enjoyed ourselves.
- Sunny (9/5): -
- Mary Molloy (8/5): - People were really nice, but the room was below average. It is on a highway so you should expect noise at night. They did provide ear plugs!
- Mark (10/5): - Very rustic with a friendly vibe. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Joy (10/5): - Great place just a few minutes from town but much less expensive. Stayed here only 12 hours or so, because we got in later and departed very early for a hike, but had an enjoyable time. Large grassy area with lawn games & dining tables. Log cabin vibes inside restaurant & lounge. Desserts homemade by owner. Nice people. Only wish room had a couple more electrical outlets for charging things, etc. but not a big deal. Might be fun to stay during winter too. Owner said they rent snowshoes.
- Erin (9/5): Clean, family feeling, simple motel and restaurant. We loved it! - Very simple, clean, and friendly place. It had a family feel to it which we loved. We were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay one night. It was a great fit for us. It is close to a major road which makes it easy to find but there is road noise. They provided in room ear plugs which I thought was clever but we didn’t need them.
- Maciej (10/5): Perfect for a 1 or 2 night stay to see local area. - Modern and clean motel with bar and restaurant next door, close to Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee, unique atmosphere, exceptionally friendly and positive staff!
- Raechelle (10/5): - Excellent customer service, convenient restaurant and coffee shop on site. Location close to the lake. We really enjoyed our stay, and will stay again!
- Gerardo (10/5): - Really neat!
- Michele (10/5): All in all my stay at The Squirrel Tree was Great and I would definitely stay there again! - Friendly people, made you feel at home. Very good restaurant on site with attached bar. Outdoor facilities & activities are included. Music, Bingo etc. offered on some dates. I called ahead to see if I could drop off luggage prior to check in time, and they replied “your room is ready.” Room was very clean & updated, especially the shower area. It was difficult to get my suitcases up the outside stairs. As property sits on a main road, it was a bit noisy, they do provide ear plugs.
- Karen (9/5): Fantastic little gem! - Great renovated room on second floor, and a yummy breakfast! Road noise was a bit much at times, but they supply ear plugs!
- Chad (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (5/5): More of a motel setting than a resort. - The staff was super friendly and very helpful Th room was old, remodeled, but holes in the wall to closet. and dirt in the corners....HVAC not functioning well, shower handle was not working properly...6:45AM the Gardner's used their weed eaters outside out window cutting weeds and leaf blower out our front door a few minutes late...Beds were super low to the floor and mattress was lumpy and very uncomfortable. Sadly it was a bit disappointing, however lots of good reviews by others, could be I was just expecting more...but definitely will not stay there again. Manager Vito was great!!
- Q496JXchristinab (4/5): Resort?? No. Disappointing. Photos online are quite deceiving - Disappointed… 12 miles outside of Leavenworth In the mountains. Nothing around. Room very old and run down. Door locks frustrating TV originally would not work. 6:56AM gardeners using weed eaters outside our window, leaf blower out of front door. That would explain the jar of ear plugs in the room.
Restaurant $$ and was average. Staff however was super friendly but save your money and the long drive. Spend a little more and stay in Leavenworth.
- Rene (10/5): - *Unique location outside of Leavenworth.
*Restaurant & bar - good food and service
*Next door to gas and market.
*Friendly staff.
*Dog-friendly.
*Enjoyed the live music on Friday night
*loved the walk-in shower.
*beds were comfortable
*Would definitely stay here again..:)
Convenient enough to drive to Leavenworth to explore and come back to comfy home base.
- Kathryn (10/5): Great place to stay no frills but so special and rustic - Good value comfortable beds great staff and quiet rooms with great air conditioning Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): - Great little place, will stay again
- Susan (10/5): - Nice live entertainment
- George (10/5): - Was great
- Pamela (9/5): Pet friendly, clean, and great staff. - Quaint hotel, comfortable bed, very clean, and helpful staff. Restaurant, coffee shop, and gas station all located within walking distance. Conveniently located near, but not in Leavenworth, state parks, fishing, and highway. Being out of town, tv is dish, and it could get complicated. But staff helped fix issues.
- Stephanie (6/5): - Not a resort at all just a motel room on a main roadway (recently renovated room it appeared) with an attached pay restaurant and rear yard. View was of a/c compressor and septic tank covers close to the rear window. Room did have mini split. No other amenities and far from Leavenworth village
- Jenny (10/5): - Cute lodge in the forest with all the amenities you will need for your stay. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and the bar drink on point. Only bummed we weren't there on a live music night.
- Yvonne (8/5): Fun, great area to relax and play cornhole! - Away from the crowd of Leavenworth. Kitzy, unique. Was not expecting beds so low. Only complaint, the resist and check in and out don’t open until 8 am. No ice machine, property doesn’t open until 8 am.
- Michael (10/5): - I love the room
- Vikram (10/5): - Properly appears to be newly and tastefully remodeled. Very friendly staff. Onsite restaurant with delicious food. Pleasantly surprised and loved it!!!
- Kim (6/5): - I liked the gas station and restaurant nearby. The beds were comfortable. The tv was small.
- Wanda (10/5): Exceptional - This was a great find. Having the restaurant and lounge on site is a plus. Played BINGO on Monday, tacos on Taco Tuesday. Upstairs is a dart board (we played every night)and two pool tables. Outside, there is corn hole, an old school tether ball, tables and chairs. Just a great place for families and friends. Only 14 miles from downtown Levenworth. Having to go home. 🤣
- Ilse (10/5): Exceptional - The location was beautiful - in the middle of nature but right besides the road - but very silent. Restaurant with breakfast discount very convenient Bathroom could have been a little more space but had all needed.
Too bad we couldn't see any squirrels;-)
- Hailey (10/5): - Staff was amazing and loved the restaurant attached to the property
- Tricia (8/5): - This was a nice stop to stay overnight between our next hiking adventure. The room is exactly as shown. The beds are on platform frames so it could be hard to get out of if you have hip or knee issues. This is 15 miles from Leavenworth. No little town around it. Nice little restaurant and bar next door.
- Donna (10/5): - The staff is very helpful and personable!
- Paul (6/5): A decent place to stay for nearby recreation but a bit steep on price. - Convenient location to the Lake Wenatchee area. Updated room was comfortable. On-site restaurant and coffee shop is a plus. Quite a bit of noise from the restaurant/bar and some equipment that ran on and off throughout the night. Price is high relative to comparable facilities.
- Jenifer (7/5): Surprisingly contemporary & friendly! - The staff was so nice! The food was generous and well prepared. The owner, Vito, was very gracious, and accommodated my last minute emergency revision to my reservation. Amazing "back yard" playground. I will definitely be back! Being above a smoking area, smoking should not be allowed so close to the rooms, and a screen in the window would have allowed a nice breeze.
There was an unattended dog left tied up by a patron in the bar. They should require that pet parents be with their pet at all times, otherwise it isn't fair to other guests or to the pet. Other than that, it was awesome!
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (8/5): - Great place to stay outside the lake Wenatchee state park. Rooms are updated and comfortable. But I was waken up by loud lawn mower at 7am sharp! Wish they could wait a little to mow the lawn….
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Joe (7/5): Good value for the location - Room was good size and bed comfortable Room was over the bar. Was a bit noisy but luckily wasn’t during the weekend
- Khrysten (10/5): - Staff was great, room was clean. Loved the outdoor space they had available
- Cindy (8/5): - We arrived after a track meet rather late. They had our room ready, it was clean and in good condition overall. They do allow pet in the rooms so you could tell pets had been there from some odor but opening the widows to the amazing mountain air freshened it up and we reallly enjoyed our stay.
They were able to feed us late since their restaurant is right next door to the room and their food was delicious. The location is on a main intersection but you are still in the midddle of the forest and romoved back away from the gas station and the road.
The windows open to a beautiful forest and mountain veiw. The ground are beautiful and family friendly with a bonfire and games and evening lights all around. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Great location for mountain advenures in the area with Lake Wenatchee State Park nearby and many hiking trails within easy driving distance.
- Kathy (10/5): We hope to stay again! - Location, value and cleanliness
- Rentfro (10/5): friendly staff and very clean room - Amazing value an facility, great location, easy access and comfortable
- Tao (8/5): - Small facility but convenient location
- Terese (10/5): Sweet little place, driven by it a hundred times. Recently renovated, stayed in “Cabin” 7 upstairs. Great king bed! L - Right on Hiway 2! Nothing!
- Kristi (10/5): Convenient location, good food & prices in the restaurant as well as variety of meal choices. - Appreciated free coffee at the restaurant for guests.
Plenty of towels in the bathroom as well as paper towels by the coffee machine
Instant support when difficulties with door code
Perfect sized refrigerator in the room & option to request a microwave.
Nice shower stall Limited plug-in options.
Limited parking by room access area.
- Theresa (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (6/5): - It was an ok experience. Most of the staff were nice and accommodating. One guy in the bar dropped a couple of menus and silverware on our table. We said we just want drinks as we had eaten in Leavenworth. He popped off a passive aggressive "joke" and left. Dont know if he was having a bad day and trying to spread the love. We may stay again or may not. May just pull the trailer and stay at the campground.
- Tamra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): - Solid lodging, nice restaurant with good food and live entertainment a big plus!
- Lesley (8/5): Very good -
- Karina (10/5): - Nice and clean
- scott (8/5): I would stay here again. - This was a good place to stay. The rooms are simple, but nice and clean. Very quiet. Very mom and pop. The restaurant had was good too.
