• Helen (10/5): Wonderful stay. - After a long drive down from Co Durham we were welcomed warmly by Dee with tea and cake.My husband doesnt drink tea or coffee so was offered elderflower cordial which he said was the best he's ever had, it may well have spoiled him for any other now. We had a lovely chat with Dee about gardens, local places to visit etc and then shown to our room. We had the en suite double overlooking the garden. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was ample storage. The shower was excellent, the bathroom was very up to date. The breakfast the next and following days were spot on. Plenty of choice, all well cooked and more toast and tea was offered. The wifi is good also Behind the house is a vast garden. It doesnt look huge because of its thoughtful layout, but it just keeps going. The garden features in an open garden event in August and we were chuffed to get a look in before the crowds. We are now trying to come up with reasons to re visit. We will be back. Thank you Dee for a lovely stay.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Great breakfasts - Dee was a wonderful hostess. Her breakfasts were great. So much choice. A few little tweaks would have improved things for us. The bathroom folding door didn’t close properly as there was no handle. The weather was very hot and a fan would have helped us sleep. Guest need to be aware that there are not enough parking spaces when all rooms are occupied but we were able to park at the village hall opposite.
• Ian (10/5): - A lovely room and a magnificent garden. Dee the host was a delight. For those who like a couple of pints with their evening meal the local pub is within easy walking distance and they have a lovely menu, a wide range of decent beers and friendly efficient staff. Intend to stay again sometime in the not too distant future.
• Sue (10/5): - Pretty house in a quiet village on the edge of the Ashdown Forest with a wonderful garden. Host Dee was very welcoming and always happy to answer any questions. Excellent, hearty breakfast with lots of choice. Easy access to several National Trusts properties/gardens.

Seconds from the bus stops to/from Haywards Heath Station with express links to Brighton, LGW and London. Superb & would definitely stay again.

A thoughtful host and beautiful garden in the heart of Sussex countryside, five minutes' drive from a historic village pub which serves excellent food and wine and is also popular with locals. Very handy for the many houses, castles and gardens open to the public in Sussex. Perfect for us to escape the noise and crowds of the seaside towns after days sightseeing and visiting friends. Good for woodland walks with or without dogs. A lovely week's break.

Nice home cooked breakfast and gluten-free wasn’t a problem. The room was adorable and so the bathroom. The garden access was great and was more a park.

The room was perfect for my two-night stay in the area, to visit relatives and National Trust properties. A very comfortable bed, and hot shower. The breakfast options were excellent and set me up for the day ahead. The proximity (within easy walking distance) of a good country pub, The Red Lion, was a bonus for evening meals - highly recommended. I would love to return one day to Holly House, and enjoy Dee's hospitality and see her garden again, and recommend Holly House to anyone looking for a traditional bed and breakfast option.

A lovely cup of tea and piece of cake were offered and we were shown to a most attractive, immaculate room with en suite. There were white towels on the huge bed. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided, together with milk and biscuits. We enjoyed 3 nights with the host who made us most welcome. The breakfasts were amazing and we enjoyed the warm hospitality which was given. We shall certainly be returning to this lovely house and it’s warm and friendly owner.

Our room and private bathroom were lovely and we also had our own, covered, patio area. Breakfast was delicious and it was great to be able to watch the birds on the feeders at the same time. Sadly, we didn't have time to explore the extensive garden, but it looked amazing!

She made sure we had everything we needed during our two day stay. Make sure you walk all the way down the garden! It’s huge! And like something out of a story book. Great breakfast too! Amazing place for dog owners. Forest walks all around and dogs can stay if arranged with Dee in advance. Highly recommended.

Such a variety of well established plants and trees that have been lovingly cared for over many years. The whole area in Chelwood Gate was beautiful - we walked up to the Red Lion pub in the evening and had a lovely meal. Dee loned us torches for the walk home in the dark. Such a relaxing stay.and delicious breakfast's. We would definitely recommend.
