Guest Reviews
- Alvin (10/5): - Everything was good except the chairs. The one issue I had were the chairs had no padding. It was uncomfortable to sit very long in them.
- Barron (10/5): -
- Young In (8/5): -
- Carolina (10/5): -
- Annlyn (8/5): - I liked that the rooms were all ground floor. It was easy to park and easy to get out at a stoplight. The room was 84 degrees when we arrived and took until around 4 am to cool down. The towels and soaps were small and thin. The water pressure was good. There were no bedside lamps or charging outlets. There were no toiletries other than soap. There was no tissues. Mini fridge and microwave worked. The outdoor pool was small and closed. It was decently priced and the double beds were firm.
- Leanne (8/5): - It was very reasonable for one night
- George (6/5): - They advertised a pool, which we chose because the granddaughter was with us, but when we checked in the pool was not available. We could have chosen another place. False advertising as far as I'm concerned.
- Yolanda (8/5): - IT WAS great
- James (6/5): Pleasant - No breakfast Bed not comfortable.Shower could not be
adjusted.
- Wren (8/5): - Very clean, super quick and easy check in/check out. No frills and very sparse, but they keep everything tight and clean. The floors are wood, and thank goodness! Hotel carpets are always the worst, so this is much friendlier on your allergies. Kinda liked the simplicity, as I just needed a quiet place to sleep during a short stay. I do wish the lighting in the rooms was a little nicer though—they use BRIGHT cool white LEDs and no smaller lamps for ambient lighting in the evening. Some softer, warmer lights would go a really long way to make it more cozy. Parking is convenient, right outside the rooms, and they’re located right by the I-40 for quick access to anywhere in the city you need to go.
- Sade (8/5): - It was good only rhinf is my key kept
- Greg (6/5): - Pros: Close to freeway, room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable, could park my car right in front of room.
Cons: Super sketchy area of Memphis or what I like to call Country Chicago, lobby looks like you are checking into a high security prison, clerk sits behind bullet proof glass and two monitors on the wall show the 15 or so camera feeds from around the property, it doesn't create a good feeling about the area, room is short on amenities...no iron, hair dryer, etc
If you just need a place to stay for the night and keep your head on a swivel, it's fine.
- Josef (6/5): - Check was terrible
- Rebecca (6/5): Pleasant -
- Margie (6/5): - I saw and killed one roach in the bathroom. Otherwise it was a good room.
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (8/5): - The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The window heating unit worked well. No frills here--but a good place to spend the night.
- Delahoussaye (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Leslie (7/5): Good - Convenient location near the interstate.
Clean sheets Terrible lighting, overpriced
- Eric (6/5): - Only first floor rooms was nice. Would not allow me to cancel final day due to change in plans, not a fan. Also, I usually travel and meet friends. They would not allow visitors after 8pm. We usually go to a concert and socialize after, way later than 8pm. This was not disclosed until we arrived.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The service was wonderful, they allow pets and the room was clean. The facilities are run down, they don’t provide coffee supplies in the room and there is quite a bit of freeway and other noise. There was a persistent tapping noise (I think my room was next to a mechanical room) all night that caused my dog to growl and me to shush him a good part of the night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and very nice staff this is always my go to stay when I visit Memphis
- Russell (4/5): Not happy with Hotels.com - I paid $54+ tax for the room through Hotels.com. When I got there, they were advertising rooms for $49.99 - I was kinda pissed. I knew the hotel would not be that great and it wasn't but I paid more thru Hotels.com! Room air conditioner did not work AT ALL, they moved me to the room next door. The hotel guy did his best to make sure I was OK! Hotel is very dated but looks like they are making efforts to improve. No real complaints other than air conditioner, very dated and I was overcharged by Hotels.com
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check in was easy, I can understand others reviews with the lady that checks you in as she answered a private phone call whilst talking to us, but was she was still nice. We had a room right near the office, the whole place is lit up at night and security cameras everywhere. But having said that you hear everything going on, room was large, small towels and no hair dryer. I think unless your in the city you won't feel necessarily safe. But good parking and was close to everything we did
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and clean was the first thing I liked plus its in a nice area with plenty to do in the vicinity
- Chris (10/5): - Clean and quiet with plenty places to eat in the vicinity
- worldtraveller (2/5): - Really poor customer service from the get go when I arrived. Things were not explained with clarity and I had to keep asking for explanations. The phone in my room did not work so I couldn't call front desk. I had to use my cell phone. Also the towels didn't look clean. I didn't realize I had reserved a smoking room but the stench in the room smelled much worse than cigarette smoke.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dishonest - First of all the woman that checked me in was not friendly, and she was not honest about the key deposit being returned to my card automatically upon return of the key at checkout checkout. I physically return the key and they did not advise me I had to give them my card again to credit me back 10.00. Second I had booked the room for a second night on Hotels.com and they advised me at 9:30 am that I would have to check out at 11 and come back at 3 to stay the second night! I have booked many times for a second night that morning and I have never had a hotel treat me like this! I canceled my second night though Hotels.com with no penalty since I had just booked it. I have call several times to get my key deposit back but they just keep telling me to talk to a manager, then when I finally did he took my credit card number to credit it back and advised it be three days it show up. Well I still have not got it. Dishonest. I will not stay at this hotel again!
- Ashley (2/5): Charges credit cards without letting you know - This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed at in Memphis the staff has no idea what they are doing here and they booked me for an extra night and refused to refund my money
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was not friendly upon check in . The room however was clean ,and the bed comfortable. There were no amenities such as shampoo
- Jeff (6/5): Don't go to Memphis - Don't stay in Memphis!
It's one of most dangerous cities.
But if you have no choice, this is a great place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean loved the room and properly price and host
Close to e erything
- Lee (10/5): No complaint - Clean and comfortable room. Great for an overnight stay. Lean breakfast. No complaints. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - As a woman traveling alone, I did not feel safe at this property, and I ended up not staying there. At check-in, the desk clerk was seated behind walls of glass, and there were signs saying, "We do not rent rooms by the hour, so don't ask," and "You are under video surveillance." I saw a couple of people loitering in the parking lot, but I don't know whether they were checked-in guests or just loiterers. The desk clerk refused to refund my money, so I paid for a room in which I didn't stay. But again, it felt distinctly unsafe, and I wouldn't recommend this for a single person or a family.
- BillB76501 (2/5): Not a place to stay! - We visited our son that lives in Germantown. We wanted a motel close to I-40 and wasn't very expensive. This motel came up as fitting our needs. I called !the night before we left and was surprised that the woman that answered did not take my name or credit card number to hold the room. I also asked about pet friendly and was told we would have to pay a pet deposit, which is ok and expected. That should have been my first clue! When we arrived and my husband went in he was told the pet deposit for two small dogs was going to be 60 dollars! They did not have the two beds we asked for, only a king bed, which was alright although we would really like two. My husband came out and told me all this and added, "I get the impression they do not want our business for some reason!" Well, needless to say we left and went across the street to the Days Inn and paid less for a wonderful room and pet friendly stay. I will never attempt to stay here ever! I was informed by my son that Memphis is a difficult place to find a safe place to stay because of the crime rate. This motel had all ground level rooms which is why we chose this place. The office is barred up windows and doors and the office is behind bars which tells me they have had problems before.
- Amy (8/5): Great room great price - Check in was simple the person at the front desk was very friendly room was clean, cute and comfortable. The hotel was local to a lot of food service areas and right near some interesting sites to see
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the plumbing all worked fine. The AC is a bit noisy was the only fault.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice, basic hotel room. No frills, the room did have a mini fridge, which was nice. Free breakfast was a little lacking ( Juice and a cinnamon roll type thing), but it was free. Over all, nice place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Obviously upgraded. Good price for basic accommodation. Comfortable. Better than most in this price range.
- Debbie (8/5): Super room, remodeled - check in was off putting - Check in was strange - in the middle of the day, the desk clerk was behind glass, and we got to read little signs around the check in window that read "no hourly rates, do not embarrass yourself by asking", etc. And there was a LOT of security camera footage showing on 2 big screens in the tiny lobby. But the room was quite nice, and clean with a comfortable bed and awesome water pressure in the shower. It looks like it had just been updated. Contrary to my initial concerns, it was quiet with no bigger issue than an early morning lawn maintenance guy with a weed eater one morning - overall, our 3 day stay was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice affordable hotel. The staff is very polite and helpful.
- W Brad (10/5): A good experience overall. - Didn't have any problems with the room. No carpet on the floors, but I'd say this was a plus. No worrying about stains or anything. Bathroom clean and well furbished. Great pressure and heat from the shower. Everything looked well-maintained. I didn't see a "do not disturb" tag to put on the door and they had come in to clean while I was away. I usually use a tag so that was a little disconcerting, but they respected my stuff and there was no real issue there. I'm not always the most observant person, (I thought there wasn't a TV for almost an hour until I realized it was attached to the wall!) so I might have just missed it. The bed was comfortable, and there wasn't a whole lot of traffic noise or light coming in through the window. Temperature of the room was fine for a sunny March weekend. Overall, a good experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is very nice! Clean hotel. Worth the price. Food places close by.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The check in person was very nice and attentive
Great service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms are cheap. The rooms are affordable. the staff was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - lack of towel bars in bath......over alll not a bad experienc.....
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The man wasn’t very welcoming and friendly and gave bad service and was a little rude
- Jane (2/5): - Was charged $10 that was supposed to be deposit for something
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wasnt a bad place to stay, would stay there again if in the area
- Happy (8/5): - I rented this room for my son. When he got there, the hotel did not know anything about the reservation, but he just showed the desk clerk the confirmation email and everything was good.
- Melody (10/5): Perfect. - This was a pleasure. Everything was just as I would have wished. What a great value for the money!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bang for Your Buck - Ok for the money. Rooms definitely a bit outdated, but seemed clean enough. Lots of food and services in the area too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice clean and quiet. Which was a plus for me
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Wifi did not work. Asked the front desk and said all was good. Had to use the wifi in the reception area. Two beat up cars/ broken down in front of my room, garbage was not picked up from the garbage container outside, it was full. Not a very nice area. Would not recommend this place at all and especially for the price. Would never return to this place.
- J (2/5): - Memphis Inn screwed up and didn’t realize I had reserved the room for 2 days and cleared out my room in the middle of our stay, while we attended a football game. They took our clothes and medicine that was needed for heart issues and other serious conditions. It took over 30 minutes for 2 employees to find the items of ours that were being held in a room they use for storage and after we threatened to call the police.
- Jae (8/5): - This place is very clean and quiet. Whenever I'm in town I go here.
- Joe (8/5): - The room and property were clean and well-kept. The plumbing all worked well. The room lighting set-up was a bit strange, but workable. It is an old motel, but it has been nicely refurbished. The only negative was that the room was furnished with an old couch that had a lot of the vinyl/fake leather finish worn off. It stuck out like a sore thumb in an otherwise attractive room.
- Brenda (10/5): - Newly remodeled. Very nice. I would definitely stay here again
- Shun (10/5): - It was great.loved it clean and nice. Thunbs up.staff was great and the breakfast
- Offened (2/5): - From the moment I stepped on their property I was discriminated against because of my sexuality and race. Check in is at 2 and I wasn’t allowed to check in until 330. I was stuck out in the sun for an hour and a half. They would not let me sit in the lobby cause it had to be so called cleaned but it never got cleaned. So I go to stand outside under a little shade tree and they say I’m acting suspicious and making the guest nervous.
- Yo3847 (4/5): - I gave this property a great review at first. I have extended my days here. However, I will not be staying after today because this property has an unusual policy that I've never encountered with any other hotel in any state or city I've traveled to. I was just told that unless you book the room 'in blocks of time' they will make the room inhabitant leave the room, check out, then check back in.
For instance, I booked this room about two days ago and each day I've simply booked it again via expedia before check out time because I don't know in advance how long I will need to remain in the room. Well, Memphis Inn has a problem with this. They want the individual to book the days all in one block or they sell the room out from under you. It's strange because as a customer you are not allowed to make up your mind on the spot as to whether you want to keep the room.
The woman in the office just told me that I should have 'checked out the room' and 'checked back in' even though checkout is at 11 am and I rebooked this room online at 8 am this morning. She then told me that this room has been 'booked' for this weekend and she wanted me to 'move to a different room'.
That's the strangest thing ever. I mean EVER.
So I told her I will leave. I've caused no problems here. I work from my laptop. I've had no guests. The room is well maintained. But I won't stand for this kind of foolishness. I told her that I will go someplace else and I won't ever return to this hotel. Ever.
- Marshall (8/5): - Best budget hotel ive ever experienced. Much better than a comparatively priced hotel like Red Roof Inn or Motel 6. Exterior was well lit. Area was quiet. Rooms have been recently remodeled and up to date other than the pattern on the comforter haha. Bed was stiff but for the price, my expectations were surpassed.
- Venessa (10/5): Local resident - I love how the newly remodeled rooms, very nice and quiet
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the pleasant surprise of finding an incredibly nice and comfortable hotel room for a very low budget.
- Hope (10/5): Nice stay - It was very comfortable. I had no trouble finding it and the staff was very friendly.
- jennifernu (4/5): Room smelled of smoke - We stayed 1 night at the Memphis Inn. Upon entering the room, we were hit with a strong smoke smell. They advertise non-smoking rooms. We used febreeze that we brought along to help tone the odor down. The room could have used a more thorough cleaning. It was just for 1 night so we made the best of it. Breakfast was juice, muffins, and coffee. Next trip we'll have other room arrangements.
- sarahdG7584UW (8/5): Nice and clean place to stay - Being on our third roadtrip through the United States we stayed at a lot of hotels and motels. Most of them had been on a much higher price but almost none of them has been as clean as the Memphis Inn. I don't know how it used to be before they refurbished the rooms but we really liked that there's no carpet in the rooms. The bathroom was really clean and the shower is nice to use. There's no hairdryer in the room why you should bring your own but a micro and fridge. The breakfast consists of coffee, orange juice and a small muffin but that's fine. The pool is as clean as the rooms. The price is absolutely okay and we definetely enjoyed our stay. There are enough restaurants and opportunities to buy some groceries around the motel. Memphis downtown is about 15 miles and easy to find. We would definetely come back.
- terrybM1033QF (2/5): Memphis In May - Terrible customer service the clerk told me one price ova the phone and when I got there the price was totally different. The people there are crazy. They told me I couldn't have visitors after 8 o'clock like I had a curfew. When a I told the clerk no thank you cause that was just crazy to me I asked for my ID card back he told me he will not give me my ID until I gave him his pen like I was trying to steal his pen or something. These people have issues. Never will I ever return to this location again scums!!!!
- nuheart7 (2/5): Disgusting - Disgusting place to stay. Dirty room, tub does not drain, the lady at check in needs a serious attitude adjustment. Continental breakfast consisted of old coffee and vending machine type danish. Plus we received a very inappropriate "room service" phone call. Disgusting.
- unclebudsgarage (4/5): Bad Attitude - The woman at the front desk is one nasty thing. They scan your ID in their computer which is illegal and one H of a security risk. If someone hacks their unsecured system, they will not only get your info, but, a copy of your DL. The rooms are at least clean and nice for the price. If you are using a coupon and staying more than one day, be prepared to get another coupon every day and RE-REGISTER.
- wild1876 (8/5): nice rooms lets keep it that way - The bed was really comfy room was updated and I felt safe. Don't let the outside fool you. The owners are nice but firm on non smokers. they only want extra small deposit because of smokers who ask for non smoking rooms when they will smoke in the room now we non smokers are the ones who are penalize.I will stay here when in Memphis tn.
- scgoodgy23 (10/5): Great find in Memphis. - It was a pleasure staying here. The hotel itself is deceiving. The outside is not much to look at, to their credit they are renovating the outside for better appeal. The rooms have been fully renovated. The beds are comfy and the pillows are very inviting. We are currently staying here on business. It has been 3 months with no problems. They have an amazing weekly rate. The staff is friendly. The maids are wonderful. I have stayed in about 100 hotels and motels during my career and this place has been a diamond in the rough. Stay here.
- royalty83 (6/5): Nothing Special... - They're remodeling the place so it's kind of up in the air. Cost was around $57 with tax but was charged an additional $10 after realizing it was a smoking room & we needed smoke-free. It's spacious, has a mini fridge & microwave but that's about all I can say. Tv didn't work, floors needed to be swept or vacuumed & the bed frame was rigged a little so when you got in bed you had to push the mattresses over (which by the way were pretty hard). Didn't make breakfast but did call to ask about a late check-out & was informed that 11 was check out time & that was that. Did get my $10 deposit back upon check-out.
- sonyajaded66 (10/5): Best place to stay in Memphis - We stayed at Memphis Inn from September 2015 to January 2016. Great stay, clean rooms, comfortable roomy beds, prices were very reasonable. Coffee in the mornings along with some breakfast. The best thing about Memphis Inn was the Customer Service, everyone that works there from the janitor, housekeeping, and front desk were always friendly and put the customer first. Family feel environment! :-)
- Adventure429918 (4/5): Poor customer service - I rented for the week a week ago and of course paid in advance. I arrived late in the evening with a toddler. Once I got him settled in for the night I laid down to relax myself to find myself coughing uncontrollably. Then realized the bed reeked of cigarette smoke. I was never asked if I wanted smoking or non. The staff member was stand offish. I requested another room the next day and was charged an additional fee. Though I was told the additional cost would be reimbursed if I did not smoke in the room (imagine that ) I was not reimbursed
- B7482XNkimw (2/5): DOUBLE NASTY - I do not want to leave a bad review. I own a business myself and this place is nasty, dirty and staying there just for two night was a nightmare. When I was done touring Elvis's house and I had to go back there, I was just miserable. The floor was dirty. I'm not going to say anything else. We stopped, because it was right off the interstate and we was tired from traveling.
- ommie7 (6/5): Pet friendly - We got to Memphis without reservation and because of many grads, etc could not find a room. We lucked upon this one and can say it was not bad. It was very clean and had the most comfortable new mattress. Newly done in many rooms. Ours had no carpet and that's wonderful with pets. You know the floor is clean. Small walking area for pets. Don't expect anything beyond coffee and rolls for bkf, but good coffee. We had no problems and enjoyed our stay.
- williamcK4922PD (10/5): A good stay at a good price - My wife and I recently enjoyed at stay at the Memphis Days Inn on Macon Cove. We found the motel to be front office friendly and very fair priced. We were given a suite at a good price. After a long drive,a suite is often more refreshing than a standard room. We would recommend this Days Inn and plan to use it again when in the area. BC of Irving, TX
- tracy2169 (8/5): So very nice - and undergoing renovations - The hotel was very clean and and the staff was very kind. The location is not the greatest neighborhood area but the room was very large and clean. Everything was newly renovated and in excellent condition. The breakfast was so so but plenty to fill me up. Bring your own travel mug as the coffee cups are small.
- LarryJ382 (6/5): Definitely improved - I stayed here twice a few years ago. After the second visit I'd had enough. The walls were a drab grey, the lighting depressing. Worst, the carpets were filthy. I made the mistake of walking around the room in white socks and they became very dirty on the bottom.
That has changed. This place advertises that they have been recently remodeled. That, plus the price, encouraged me to give it another try. The rooms are much more clean, the carpets have changed, the paint on the walls is warmer, and furniture has been replaced. The bed was comfortable.
Not all is perfect. The floor near the door in my room creaked as though I was about to fall through, but that was a minor irritation.
While I wouldn't bring my wife here (she's pickier than I am), I will probably consider staying here again the next time I'm in town by myself...depending on the price of nearby motels.
- Doper1973 (2/5): They got crack - If your looking for crack this is your place. Plenty of crackheads and crack dealers. Floors are very dirty so if you drop your crack it is very easy to find, only problem was there was not a Arab store within walking distance so it's hard to find a crackpipe at 1 in the morning . There are however plenty of crackheads to help you smoke it
- SteveH487 (10/5): Great value - I have stayed here for 9 weeks. The hotel is all first floor rooms. The property is very clean and immaculately taken care of. The staff is friendly and the housekeeping great. The rooms are large and come with a large desk and microfridge. The price is very low compared to the surrounding motels. I will definitely stay here again.
- 423puttputt (4/5): spend $5 bucks more and stay somewhere else. - Floor creaked, must have been a wooden subfloor. Carpet dirty. Breakfast a joke. Really cheap place. Bed was comfortable though.
- Vacation92930 (4/5): Spend a few more dollars and stay across... - Spend a few more dollars and stay across the street. When deciding on a hotel for an overnight stay, I needed a hotel that accepts pets. Every website I did a price compare of listed this one. When I get there, they do not accept them but they did allow us to stay. The room was clean but had an "old" smell. The continental breakfast was cheerios and fruit loops. It wasn't the worst place I've stayed in but I don't see myself going back.
