We chose the property for it's proximity to the Fire Island Ferry (a scenic 15-20 min walk) but ended up wanting to spend more time on property instead of on Fire Island! The pool was beautiful and there are so many nice places to sit outdoors. We enjoyed some wine on the front porch and the back outdoor table is a beautiful place to have a meal. Our room was spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The included breakfast was delicious. It was a perfect Staycation for us and we will definitely be back!

However, we found the stairs from the first to the second floor particularly problematic in the they were steep, winding, and in some areas without a rail. As partially disabled people, we found negotiating the stairs to be difficult and potentially dangerous.

The location is ideal – it is about 15-20 minutes from the Jones beach and Robert Moses beach and about 1 minute from the Captain Bill seafood restaurant. We were a little bit earlier for check in, but we left our gadgets in the hotel room and went to the beach. When we came back, we found that our room was upgraded which was really nice. The breakfast in the morning was nice and refreshing so we completely satisfied with our experience and definitely will stay here again in the future if needed. 5 *s out of 5.

Verified traveler (8/5): Beautifully restored bnb - Our stay at the Ocean Bay House was lovely. The property is gorgeous, the location is very convenient to both train and ferry. The only thing that would have improved our experience is if the staff took better precautions using protective equipment. Everyone has a different level of comfort but we believe masks should be worn at all times indoors, especially when preparing food and serving guests. These things, however, can be avoided if you just stick to your room and go in and out the front door. In that case, it is perfect.

The room was extremely clean, cozy, and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The house is very beautiful with a nice outdoor sitting area on the porch and is located on a very peaceful street. The location is a quick drive to the beautiful beaches nearby (Robert Moses, Jones Beach) and all the other conveniences around Bay Shore. Had the most peaceful and restful stay here and hope to go back soon!

You are nextdoor to a marina, down the street from Nicky's seafood and a shoreline park, and just down the street from the main street area with all of the restaurants and stores. Easy access to surrounding areas by car. I will be back!

Teresa (8/5): Beautifully renovated - The house is beautifully renovated and very clean. I left at 7:00 each morning so I did not have breakfast. In hindsight, I should have made arrangements to have coffee available in the mornings. The house is in a residential area and I walked to my destinations. Main Street is an 8 minute walk and there was a bagel and sandwich shop on the corner of Main St and Ocean Ave, so I did find coffee! Lots of other restaurants on Main as well. Felt safe walking during the day but stayed in after dark as I was traveling alone for my conference. The smaller Islip airport is very convenient and keeps you out of NYC if that’s your preference. Ocean Bay House served my purpose but it’s an area where renting or having a car would probably be the better plan.
CLIFF (10/5): Wonderful owners of an impeccable B&B - Owners were very accommodating to our late arrival and early departure. The B&B is a beautiful, historic house which the owners have filled with wonderful touches. I was there on business but endeavor to come back with my wife for a stay in this cute, coastal town in the Hamptons.

Natalia (10/5): Wonderful stay at Bay Shore. - Wonderful experience in the historical part of Bay Shore. Newly renovated house with modern amenities in traditional setting. I felt welcomed and at home. The weather was perfect for hanging about the pool. You can walk to the marina or the center of town easily. Will come back for sure. Highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful comfortable stay.

This place is awesome, the owners gave you your space, amenities like a wonderful 5 star hotel, clean & nice bedding, even snacks & water in each room. Loved our visit and would definitely go back. Jen (10/5): A gem - Quiet and lovely! Seamless stay, staff is helpful but let you do your thing. Town is walkable and cute, and the Fire Island ferry is a short hike. Recommending and would happily stay again. Great getaway for those sick of noisy apartments!
