Guest Reviews

- Jennifer (6/5): - Would NOT recommend this property. When you walk through the front door of the castle, an overwhelming smell of dogs slap you in the face. There are 4 extra large dogs staying in an area just off the kitchen and dining areas that greet you with loud barks. The owners have child gates to keep them confined to one area but the dogs are both smelly and intimidating. The place could be a wonderful place to stay and relax but because of the smell, unsanitary areas and loud barking each time you go near the dogs, it is not recommended. The owner’s wife, Isabella was a lovely lady and seemed to do most of the upkeep of the castle. The owner, who is also the chef made a nice dinner but when I brought up the issue we paid for a king size suite but actually had a queen bed, was abrasive and dismissed my issue as Expedia not knowing what the castle had available. At the time I booked, 3 months ago, a king suite was available and the current website said it was. There was an empty king suite available.
- Daniel (10/5): - An excellent place to stay. Comfortable, quiet and beautiful
- Nick (10/5): Chateau bliss - Very special felt like I was a member of the family while enjoying time in a beautiful chateau. The evening meal was served with a view of the garden and was a highlight!
- Benjamin (8/5): Très bien - Très bien, pleine nature, belle chambre calme. Un historique présent visuellement et raconté par les propriétaires. Merci
- Stephen (10/5): Amazing Chateau - The Chateau is in the most beautiful location, with an amazing hedged driveway leading up to the Chateau.
Our evening meal was incredible, Pascale is an amazing chef.
We look forward to staying again on our way home
- Nick (10/5): Wonderful Chateau - I almost don't want to review here, because then you'll come and stay. Silent chateau, giant four poster beds, the *best* cooking and breakfast, served in a private dining room, within strike distance of Caen ferries and Alencon. This place is a gem. Stay away, it's ours! Twice we've been, twice we've been the sole guests. There's only five rooms, and all are amazing.
- Me (10/5): - Memorable !!!
Stayed one night and wish I had booked a week!!!
It’s an amazing chateau, beautiful peaceful surroundings, very tranquil…. Everything you need after a weekend listening to car engine revving and screeching tyres in Le Mans.
Pascal and his wife is a great team. Very accommodating and very nice people.
Expedia had not notified them of our arrival but they managed to sort it. The room was out of this world. Large 4 poster bed with an amazing en-suite in the tower. The decor has been carefully chosen to a high standard… so don’t be fooled by the vestibule !!
We opted for the special menu, and what an excellent choice.
We were served the most amazing 7 corse meal accompanied by a beautiful red Bordeaux.
The dining experience was set in a private dining room in one of the towers overlooking the front gardens and beyond, horses grazing the field.
This was definitely the highlight of our trip and we will absolutely return in the near future.
A huge thank you to our lovely hosts for a very memorable 40th wedding anniversary
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved this place, quirky and magical. Our 8 year old found it fascinating
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Traveling with friends and wanted to make our tour of France special so we booked a one night stay in this Chateau. The male proprietor is a gourmet chef and offered to make us dinner. The meal was ok, a little on the pricey side but nicely presented and all good quality. On first glance the suites were nice and modern. After we had checked in we found out the hot water was not working properly at our sink. The valve turned on with a drip drip drip of water. After notifying the (female) owner, I was laughed at for even mentioning it. I asked that our bill be compensated for no hot water and received the same response, laughed at. There was hot water at the tub, so for anything we wanted hot water for we had to lean over the tub. I felt terrible watching my husband shave in the morning having to kneel on the hard floor by the tub and try not to fall in. This was not a mark on the wallpaper that did not effect the comfort of our stay it totally ruined the experience. I certainly got the idea this was not an item that would be fixed immediately. Beware if you book this place hot water may not be included!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were very spacious and very appointed as well as the baths. The only downside was there was no shower. The chef at the property prepared dinner for us the evening we arrived and it was excellent. The dinner included several small desserts, aperitif, wine, salad and entrée. The food was really outstanding. The Chateau was a little hard to find and was a very kilometers out of town, so we didn't have a chance to see the town.
- Trae (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Château de Blavou. Run by a husband and wife team, this couple goes out of their way to ensure that their guests feel warmed and welcomed. The optional 39 euro dinner including wine is both delicious and a value. The rooms are both spacious and lovely. I would happily return.
- Simon (10/5): Supurb - Real chateau. Fantastic room fit for a king and queen. Ample parking. Isabelle and Pascall could not have been more helpful. Pascall is a real chef and made us one of the best dinners we ever had. The breakfast also was superb and we could not stop eating their homemade bread. Park like very quiet surroundings.
- Helen (10/5): - What a great find, spectacular location, wonderful hospitality from the hosts, great French breakfast and also recommended to a local restaurant in Mortagne close by which was a great meal experience as well ... the room stay was exceptional and loved the winding turret stairs, up to our very spacious room ... the history is intriguing ... would love to visit again for sure
