Guest Reviews
- Nigel (8/5): - Room was clean, bathroom was cramped.
- Demetri (8/5): - Went for work .. had a good sleep
- Karren (8/5): - Rooms are reasonably priced and comfortable. The hotel is very nicely set out, the food is very good and well priced. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Figtree Grove.
- Siqiang (6/5): - Hotel is on top of the bar. Right outside of our room, is the facility air condition unit, very nozzy. Luckily it turned off after 11:00. We did ask room to check to change the other side of the building, unfortunately there is no similar room left. Other than that, room is small but clean and the stuff are friendly.
- Karren (8/5): - Each room is different but all are clean with all you need for your stay. Very popular hotel with nice surroundings and good reasonably meals
- Karren (10/5): - Second stay this week but got a queen room this time. Was extremely pleased with my room. Clean, comfortable with a huge shower in a large bathroom. Staff, hotel ambience and meals were again, very good . I feel very comfortable as a solo female traveller on this occasion, to stay and eat a meal in nice surroundings. One of my favourite best on budget stays. Common kitchenette area available. Walking distance to shopping Centre
- Karren (10/5): - The single room was cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Even with the hotel pumping for footy finals, the noise was quite full and didn't disturb me. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The meals were very good. I needed to rebook in the area so decided to return to The Figtree Hotel
- Michael (6/5): - Quite a small room, but that was ok, but our Double room with a (tiny) ensuite sat next to the hotel’s industrial air conditioning unit which ran all night. The shower also was quite dirty around the base. Car parking was extremely difficult and totally unsecured.
- Angel (8/5): - Lovely team!
- Kaye (4/5): - Tiny room. So noisy probably would’ve got more sleep if I’d actually pulled up the bed inside the bus stop, it was at the traffic lights overlooking the road and there are so many hoons wanting you to hear how noisy their cars are all night.!
- Tracy (2/5): Nope, don’t bother - The place was filthy, the bedding was dirty, the spare blanket smelt bad.
Noisy, woke up with repairs being done at 8am.
Cold it was just disgusting.
- Sarah (4/5): - I arrived at the hotel and had to work in my room that night. The room is lit with a large flouresent light and I asked the staff if they had a lamp. One staff person tried to help but the manager was clearly uninterested in providing a solution. I drove to KMART and purchased a $15 lamp. When I returned to the hotel I noticed the lamp needed a USB port. I asked the staff in. the could lend me a plug for the lamp. The manage again refused to even attempt to come up with a solution. In the end I plugged the lamp into a USB port in the TV - a solution I came up with myself. The manager was very unhelpful and uninterested in providing support.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Once I arrived mid afternoon I was show my room which was neat and clean.
It had coffee and tea making facilities which was good for the morning having to leave first thing.
- Melanie (10/5): - Beautiful finishes friendly helpful staff
- Bhanuka (6/5): - Normal
- Lisa (10/5): - Stayed for a week was very comfortable
- Maryam (8/5): - clean and comfortable. a lot of parking space.
- Jorge (8/5): The great, the poor and the tragic - Hotel was great as was the food and staff. Two of the doors within the second registered hotel guests are failed to self close. One was the external fire escape door and the other an internal door giving access to the secure floor. Internal stairs down from the rooms were steep, steps were short and potentially dangerous Also had my bike stolen but as cameras to parking area were sensor driven only, video was highly inadequate to capture useful images of the thief.
- Olakunle (8/5): - Good prop
- Shonik (10/5): - Plenty of parking. Staff were extremly friendly and asissted with any questions and very helpful. Only downside i did have was that on the website it claims daily house cleaning but in the 3 nights i was there it didnt happen once unfortanately
- Mandy (10/5): - Great place to stay :)
- Mark (8/5): - Place was ok, needed some renovation
- Christopher (4/5): - I left this property early at night to drive home as I could not sleep there, they had the aircon unit for the whole vicinity next to our window. It was so loud. mate stayed. but then the fire alarm went of at 6am, he had to pack all he things up and leave before check out, didnt return.
didnt expect much to be honest, but noise and fire alarm itself made it a terrible stay.
Room is basic, staff are nice, hotel downstairs cant complain, beer and food.
- Pamela (6/5): - Need to use a cleaning product in the bathroom. Basin is dull, shower looks terrible.
- Lee (6/5): - The place was nice the bar & restaurant but the room was very average
The light didn’t work, the noise from outside was very loud & the ensuite needed a sliding door
- Stephen (8/5): - The steak dinner menu was best I’ve had plenty of veg chips and steak cooked perfectly very friendly staff will stay agaun
- Dave (4/5): - Very basic accommodation that is clean with everything working. Access is difficult with stairs the only option.
- Minami (2/5): - Truely a horrible stay - the room was gross and the quilt covers were extremely worn out and had cigarette burns in them... There were loads of plastic hooks on the wall, which added to the general ambience of a creepy hook-up motel. Noisy as expected, as it is above a pub, but the venting system and water pipes made it especially bad. Shower had no curtain and poor water pressure. The room was also cold due to no individual heating/cooling ability and the bed was uncomfortable. I would say that this option is better than sleeping in your car on the side of the road but if you can afford to spend a bit more, go elsewhere. Checkout was easy at least.
- Christopher (6/5): - The passing traffic noise was too noisy.
- Erica (6/5): - Tv didnt work wifi was horrible and staff wrte rude
- Kris (6/5): A one night stay - Room was clean and spacious enough with a single bed and a fridge only and a storage closet for clothes. Room has no heater so was very cold. No AC either. Bathroom was clean enough but the sink has separate hot and cold water taps and not the mixer tap so the water was very cold. The shower was very good with good water pressure and was nice and hot. Bed was concave in the middle and probably need to be changed. Plenty of parking and the bistro offered good options
- Robbie (10/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff…the figgy burger was great…
maybe consider double glazing on windows …decrease traffic noise …
- Graeme (8/5): - Figtree Hotel is close to a good, district shopping centre, a short drive to the city, and easy to find. We had a budget room for a night and accepted the smaller space, noisy air conditioning ducts until 11pm and difficulty with a faulty key, because we really only needed a bed and meal for the night. The room was clean and everything worked, but it lacked the means to have any more than a cup of tea in the morning. All up, if you're on a slim budget and carry a picnic set, it's good value for an overnight stay.
- Daryl (10/5): - Evereas very good for the property type and price paid.
- Elena (4/5): - Very old
- Sharjeel (10/5): - I enjoy my stay and the surrounding area was good easy parking
- Casey (6/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location, very close to shops and Southern areas. Bed I think was newish and was super comfortable.
Unfortunately the place has no air conditioning, so was a bit hot and uncomfortable at times. An opportunity exists to repair missing soap holders etc in the shower as there was no shelf in the shower. Also an opportunity to 'step up' the level of cleanliness in the room, possibly even replacing the carpet and couch which well and truly showed their age.
Overall a suitable budget stay.
- Wallace (8/5): - Convenient for what I wanted. Good people.
- Chris (8/5): - room was comfortable and meals were very good
- Mark (8/5): - Good value for money, would return.
- Grant (6/5): - Room was completely rundown with some basics not working or missing completely.
Whatever the smell is, air freshener or aircon scented, is terrible and desperately needs attention.
Downstairs pub and deck area is good.
Staff were nice 👍
- howard (8/5): Convenient and friendly - Was comfortable but no air con in my room apart from that all good.
- Michael (2/5): - I’ve stayed at the hotel before and don’t recall the mattress being so uncomfortable, it felt like a bed base without the mattress maybe I was in a different room and I think I had a steak last time but I had the nachos this time and it was all okay except for the mince which was disgusting and ruined the whole meal.
- William (10/5): - close to all facilities in the wollongong area
- Craig (8/5): - The room was very clean. The fridge in my room was noisy next to bed. The Queen room had a ensuite but was small i guess for a hotel room thats how it is.
No heating or cooling in room.
- mitchell (10/5): - Great stay, easy check in process. Would recommend staying here!
- Chris (8/5): - Location
- Martin (6/5): Cheap but basic - Cheap room above the public bar area. Comfortable but a bit noisy due t the pub downstairs and adjacent road noise. Access to/from carpark is via a rear entrance though bit disconcerting going to the bar to get your key. Room layout a bit weird. no wifi, no glasses in the room only 2 cups.
Pie Face adjacent is a good place for a coffee and breakfast.
- Graham (4/5): - The location. Was close to where i needed to be.
- Leanne (10/5): - Close to main road, great for access. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Neill (6/5): - I suppose you get what you pay for!
No aircon and only a small desk top fan in the heat wave was not pleasant.
- Helen (8/5): - Great atmosphere at hotel - enjoyed the evening 👌
- Kerry (8/5): - Great convenient place to stay. Excellent service, fantastic staff, and awesome menu !!!
Just a few little improvements / easy updates in the rooms would make the stay more pleasurable.
- Charlie (8/5): - staff and bar and bistro are nice, rooms are pretty shocking
- Larry (10/5): - Being locked after by staff
- Mira (8/5): - It is good value for money 🙂
- LUKE (8/5): - Nice and friendly staff,
- leigh (8/5): - Nice pub stay
- Paris (8/5): - Good location, comfortable room. A second bedside table would have been good. Room suited our needs.
- Lisa (8/5): - The customer service and friendly staff. Nicole in particular was very helpful, professional and was happy to help with any requests I had during my stay.
- Lauren (10/5): - Very nice place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic room. Wifi pretty much non existent in my room
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very basic, no hairdryer, one chair to sit on in a Queen room. TV remote didn't work - had to climb on chair to manually operate. No phone to call reception. No information catalogue or instructions regarding early exit.
The bed was comfortable though and nice shower.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly. Meals were fantastic. A special mention to Jess who went out of her way to accommodate us.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very small rooms, cheap air freshener smell in hallways, loud group underneath bedroom window from 1am till 3am
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a nice experience. Good restaurant and nice bar
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall not bad but not great, super hot during the day with no aircon
- demet (4/5): - The staff were lovely. But the bed was so uncomfortable & creaky. Lots of noise from downstairs, outside & near our room made it very difficult to fall asleep.
- TC (2/5): - Unfortunately we did not stay after visiting the room because it was in such poor condition. The smell as so overpowering and carpets stained beyond repair. We asked to move but no other rooms were available. This hotel needs a complete makeover to bring it up to standard. The pub is in a great location with meals - but I would never recommend staying there it is sub-standard👎
- Satya (2/5): - Stayed for two days, there are cockroaches and bugs in the toilet and bed. Had a very bad experience.
- Daniel (8/5): Hood room for decent price - Good cheap room. I stay here pretty often. No complaints.
- Sheena (8/5): - Good staff , convenient, Satisfied facilities. Easy to get all what you need
- Steven (8/5): Need new mattresses - The mattress is that terrible very uncomfortable to sleep on they need me mattresses the springs are in your back and the milk is always off need to check the milk apart from that it's a good place to stay
- Steven (10/5): - Good place to eat and stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not a bad place to just stop over on your journey
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, comfortable and happy stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable stay.. was put into a room with a few issues to start with but after brining the issues to management they were more than apologetic and moved me to a much nicer room.. would stay again
- Kerry (2/5): - While the linen was spotless & the single bed comfortable. The staff very nice. There were large groups of people screaming and yelling running up and down the hallway, loud music and drunken laughing until the early hours. As well as a very large group of people right under our window until about 3am yelling and screaming I would never stay here again. Didnt get any sleep in 3 nights was glad to get out of there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff are lovely. But this is definitely not for someone wanting peace and quiet. The place is very popular and on Friday nights you will definitely hear the karaoke through the floor Until quite late. However that being said, I think if you’re in for a fun place to stay with the classic club gaming etc and good food then it’s pretty good. If you get a room facing the road it is quite loud with large windows, so consider asking for the rear facing rooms. They have a great verandah and nice facilities on the main level and plenty of parking.
- Joe (10/5): - Excellent location , close to CBD , food and shopping
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Convenient, quite for being an actual hotel, very basic, old but clean.
- Dave (6/5): - I was here for 4 nights, I had room 2, A single room. No noise from the pub, but plenty of traffic noise from the highway. No double glazing and one window had a crack all the way across. No lift, there are 30 steps to haul your luggage up. The room was fairly basic, with a kettle, tea & coffee, and a small fridge. You get towels and the usual small round of soap. There was no shampoo. The bed was lumpy and the springs boinged whenever I changed position. There was a rather large cockroach resident in the bathroom! Basically, the room was rather tired and needs an upgrade. Having said that the price was right. I never had time to try the bistro, but it sounded very lively in the evening.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a good stay, close to our venue where we had a function on. convenient place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good meals good meals good parking good facilities clean rooms
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The accommodation was basically what I expected from the photos I’d viewed online before booking.
The room was clean and was what we needed for a one night stay (clean bed and shower).
The mattress and pillows were somewhat old and lumpy and could do with replacing.
Overall the staff were lovely and treated us well.
The linen was clean as was the room.
