Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great stay! Friendly staff, clean and comfortable!
- KAZUMASA (8/5): - I need breakfast.
- Dirk (10/5): - Fine hotel close to university and downtown.
- Weimin (8/5): - The property is in the middle of a small town, very quiet. But my neighbors kids were
- Brady (6/5): Overall good, but need to coordinate housekeeping - My husband booked the room for work, and my two kids and I went along. When we arrived at the room, it was clean, but only two towels were provided. We got two additional towels at the front desk.
The next morning, we realized there was only one regular coffee pod (and one decaf, and one hot tea), but there was coffee available in the lobby. We made an effort to be out of the room each day so that it could be cleaned, but for some reason, we were missed. On the third day, I asked at the front desk if we could get the basics - trash taken out, more coffee, shampoo, and toilet paper (we had only been left with a partial roll and no spare), but was told they were gone for the day. The front desk attendant got us more toilet paper and told us we could take the trash to the dumpster, which was frustrating, and then I had to go back to ask for new trash bags...
Other front desk attendants were more helpful, giving us great recommendations for the area! The hotel grounds are nice with a couple of areas available to get out of the room and lounge, read, or work. It's very close to the square, which has some cute shops and good places to eat!
- KAZUMASA (8/5): - A restaurant is connected to hotel. It is so convenient.
- John (10/5): - The Inn is simply the best!
- Tonya (10/5): Most modern stay available. - We were at the hotel for four nights. This was our second stay. I grew up in Greencastle and I try to stay here when I can because the choices in Greencastle hotels is slim at best. Only 3 real hotels in GC and the other two are from the 60's and are actually Motels. DePauw Inn is a 21st century hotel. The ONLY thing that I can't seem to wrap my mind around is why the architect designed it with elevator access to only the 3rd floor. If you are on the 1st or 2 nd floor you have to take the stairs. NOT a full flight but about 8-10 steps. First floor is half in the ground, think split level ranch layout. The only ice machine is on the 3rd floor. The restaurant is a nice place to grab a bite and are reasonably priced. I will be back if they aren't booked up on one of my spontaneous trips! Otherwise I usually stay in Cloverdale but I hate that drive. Last but not least I want to say a special thank you to the DAYtime front desk staff. Unfortunately this trip was for a family illness and she was so kind and very helpful. I recommend this place!!!
- Kimberly (10/5): - Nice place to stay! Comfy beds. Quiet hotel.
- Penny (10/5): - Always a great place to stay and have dinner too!
- Dante (10/5): - Very good overall. Good place to stop on a long drive--not too far off the highway and inexpensive for the high quality
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This is the first time I'd stayed at a hotel in my hometown of 32 years. It was convenient to the places I wanted to visit and it was the same price as a Holiday Inn 10 miles away that isn't as nice.
- Lourdes (10/5): - I like everything they have the hotel very clean and comfortable thank you
- Brandon (10/5): - I would stay here again
- Douglas (10/5): Douglas Langille - This is a very nice hotel. Large sitting area by the front desk, easy free parking, easy location to find, excellent front desk staff, it has a small snack store.
- KAZUMASA (8/5): - Restaurant is always comfortable
- Heidi (10/5): - Great stay
- Angela (8/5): - Nice clean place to stay next to DePauw University. Beds were very comfortable and room was fairly clean. Overall would recommend.
- 718raed (10/5): THE place to stay - The initial welcome could not have been better. Especially Robin Campbell was gracious and helpful. Michell was equally welcoming. Thruout our stay, Robin was there for us, whatever we needed. Our room was perfect, the accommodations excellent, and the various restaurants/functions we attended were first class.
- Penny (10/5): - Always an awesome experience
- jacquelinetV5174GN (10/5): I wish I could go more often!! - We have been to this wonderful hotel every year for the past 6 years or so. The staff is wonderful esp.the front desk. The rooms are lovely and the beds more comfortable than other hotels. It is very clean. The ambience is wonderful too! The town is small but walkable and full of some great places to visit

- D9741USsandraw (10/5): Employee Praise for Services at Depauw Inn and Event Center for a Scrapbook Retreat - The Inn at DePauw and Event Center was awesome in their hotel services and their special services related to a Scrapbook Retreat held at the Inn and Event Center.
Specifically praise for 3 employees Robyn, Melissa and Debbie. They are excellent at their job and exhibit excellent customer service. They went above and beyond in their services to our group and individually. Thank You!!
- Tina (10/5): Very nice - Staff was so friendly. Room was nice, bed was very comfy.
- Larry (10/5): True honesty! - Accidentally left my money clip in the room large amount of cash and all my id and credit cards. Gone all day and upon return room had been completely cleaned and serviced. My money clip was centered on the bed with everything in it! That would not happen in most places. Very high on my list of places with integrity!
- Scott (8/5): Nice but would other other options. - Nice hotel, but if there were other options in Greencastle would probably stay elsewhere. Bathroom is placed awkwardly in the room with a sliding barn door which gives little privacy. Toilets are low flow and do not fully flush so any water savings are lost with repeated flushing.
- Joy (10/5): - Property is very nice. Stuff are very friendly. There's nothing I didn't like.
- Beth (8/5): - Very nice and staff was very good. A bit disappointed in no breakfast but we walked to a place a block away so not too inconvenient.
- Lisa (10/5): - The staff was very friendly..I enjoyed my stay..I will be back.
- Joscelyn (2/5): - They cancelled my rooms
- Judith (4/5): Rude - Staff were rude and acted like it was inconvenient that they had to check me in.
- 1024gal (10/5): Great place to recharge - Fantastic room 322. People so very nice & helpful. Wish we had more time to explore the beautiful campus & town. Lovely area. Bed was so comfortable & perfect room for relaxation & recharging. We were not there during graduation which I’m sure there is more activity.
- Penny (10/5): - Friendly Staff..
- Brian (8/5): - Rooms were nice. The rest of the building was sparse and tired. Needed a refresh.
- Nicolas (10/5): - Very walkable area. Many options for a small town. Staff was super friendly. Bar open until 11pm was cool. Some peeling paint in bathroom, due to lack of ventilation. And front door does not self-open (not the end of the world, but noteworthy imo)
- A4938OFcherylf (10/5): The best place to stay - If I could give 10 stars, I would look no further. This is the place to stay. The people are over the top, friendly very accommodating. The rooms are clean and nice. I can’t say enough good Things about the inn . Even though you’re staying away from home, you feel like you’re home. I’ve been staying here for many many years and will continue to as well. I give 10 stars to MICHELE she was so accommodating. I didn’t have a car and she actually took me to the horse show twice On her own time because I couldn’t get a cab, you never find anybody that will do anything nice anymore so it’s a big shout out to her. She’s amazing as well as everyone else here the restaurant is good. Everything is good. Parking is easy. Beds are comfortable.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
- Kristina (10/5): - Very convenient. Late check in went smoothly.
- Penny (8/5): - Great space but need a deep cleaning.. some
wear and tear.. But could be cleaner
- B369KPdanielleb (2/5): Rude and unhelpful - Was no front desk staff, waited 8mins before going to locate staff. Once found all mingling laughing in a room off the main entry way the woman that spoke to me was rude and didn’t bother to help me find where I needed to go even as I stated I was unsure where my appointment was being held.
- Cathy (10/5): Thank you - The room was amazing. The service was amazing. I will definitely be staying here the next time I’m in Greencastle.
- KAZUMASA (8/5): - The front desk is too unfriendly when I check in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely place adjacent a lovely campus - What a lovely inn and not very far off the highway. Such friendly staff and guests. So nice to walk around the beautiful campus adjacent the property, too.
- C5438TScindyr (10/5): Penny made our visit the best one yet! - My food was good but our waitress was excellent! Penny took great care of us during our meal. She was attentive but not overbearing. She has been our waitress on other visits and she always makes us feel welcome with her warm greetings and friendly approach. I look forward to our visits when she is working!
- Erin (10/5): - Our room was clean and comfortable.
- Betty (4/5): - A cobweb right about my pillow. Starting from ceiling to lamp on night stand. Stood up on bed to clean the web off and could see all the dusr on artwork frame/headboard! The fan in bathroom had souch filth in the opening! I have asthma, a pacemaker, serious heart problems and can afford to breath that mess in. I took pictures and will show clerk when I check out in the morning.
- Jennifer (8/5): Nice little place, good location - Stopped for an overnight during the covered bridge festival. The area is great, the inn was easy to find and had ample parking (for a Monday), and the in itself was decent. My only issues were that the water pressure in the shower wasn’t great, there was lots of dust in and on the vents, and we had a hard time controlling the temp in the room. When the fan blew for the air it was freezing, and when it was off it was too warm. We didn’t find out until we were leaving that the windows opened, and I’m thinking that would have helped for sure. But it’s a nicely updated old building, and I know that my little issues just come with being in an older building.
Otherwise, it was perfect for an overnight trip with a friend.
- David (10/5): - Wide, bright halls. Nice, quiet place.
- Kerstin (8/5): - Beautiful surroundings at the University. Nice with dining in place. No breakfast though!
Nice spacious room.
- Kelly (10/5): Excellent stay! - I would highly recommend this hotel! I think it was probably the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed, and the beds were super comfortable in a large room. The location is ideal (we came for the festival). A restaurant is located in the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.
- Cindy (10/5): - Very nice room, nice accomodations.
- Phyllis (10/5): - One of the nicest small hotels I've ever stayed in. No impact on my stay at all but I noticed the exterior wood could use some attention.
- Roberta (10/5): - That they had a restaurant within the property and we did not have to leave the hotel once we
- Eric (8/5): - The water pressure and temperature was great. Room was mostly clean and comfortable. Needed a little dusting and high cobwebs removed. Otherwise very nice.
- Gayle (10/5): - Julie at the front desk is very friendly and helpful! Love the inn!
- stephenk918 (10/5): Locals visit the Fluttering Duck - Did not stay at inn but spent time at "The Duck" after concerts. The Inn has always been a quiet peaceful place to visit. A wonderful aspect of Greencastle. You will enjoy a stay at the Inn anytime. The University is a wonderful neighbor to and important part of Greencastle.
- LaToya (4/5): - I've stayed here twice and both times, it was the same experience. The only decent thing about this property is it's proximity to the college, it's really convenient. But each time I've dusted here, the rooms have been filthy. Even the complimentary small bottles of lotion, shampoos and lotions were used. Like really? The caps were half off, half full and the bottles was oily, when I entered the room, yuck. There was random long strains of hair on the shower walls. When I checked in, the front desk associate didn't give me any details about the hotel. She didn't offer me check in/out times, she just took my name and gave me my key. Again, the only decent thing about this place is it's proximity to the college. It feels like they don't clean the rooms or put in any effort with this place because they feel as though we will book with them no matter what, due to convience. Id rather stay near the airport, it's only 40 minutes away.
- Nancy B (8/5): - Very nice room. However, since there was three of us, had to get extra towels. Better selection of coffee in the room would have been nice.
- Jane (8/5): Inconvenient parking - My room was fine. Parking is inconvenient- across street.
- Pearl (10/5): - Came for a college visit. Conveniently located on campus. Beautiful place to stay! Will definitely come back!
- Timothy (10/5): - The Inn is always very welcoming: clean, comfortable with up-to-date furnishings and a friendly and helpful staff.
It’s right at the edge of the DePauw campus, and a block from downtown Greencastle with bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.
- Renee (10/5): - Awesome place
- Alison (4/5): - They didn't clean the room or change the sheets. They don't say hello or anything when you arrive, they literally ignore you.
- Mike (10/5): - Great, clean room! Definitely a place I’ll stay when in the are.
- Pam (10/5): - My daughter attends DePauw, staying on campus makes visits more convenient and is a time saver. Not a whole lot of hotels in this area to choose from.
- Laurel (10/5): Always Amazing - Always comfortable and great customer service! Stayed there many times and it is always my first choice when visiting DePauw.
- RVAC81TouringTeam (4/5): Good Luck Making a Reservation - This is the only decent hotel in Greencastle, IN. It's location is fantastic but the hotel is showing its age. They have a very antiquated booking process and if you're looking to book on a weekend during the school year, good luck. Sometimes you have to call, others you have to book online. Rooms are held for big weekends such as graduation until certain dates then thousands of people race to get the remaining rooms. Hospitality developers take note, there's an opportunity for more inventory to compete with this property!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would stay again because of safety - The University is beautiful. I appreciated the safety and ease of parking at the Inn. The room was very clean but I felt the rooms are in need of renovation, they look a bit tired. The front desk clerk was not friendly or helpful. She seemed annoyed with her job and is probably in the wrong industry.
- Angelina (4/5): Rude Manager - The night we checked in the 2 hirls at the front desk were very kind. We could not get out tv to work and had 2 small boys, which was no ideal, but we managed. The next morning however, the lady at the front desk shushed us and was very rude. I understand being quiet for other guests, but there was noone in the lobby and I only saw one other person on property. Her name tag stated she was the manager. Also, when i called the front desk to inquire about breakfast she was very short and said there was no breakfast.
If you advertise there is a breakfast, then i think you should make your guests aware at arrival with either a simple sign or through a simple communication. This manager has NO customer service skills. She may be a hard worker, but has no capabilities handling customer interactions. The building itself was decorated gorgeously for the holidays. The room was small, but clean and comfortable.
- Pamela (10/5): - Will definitely stay here next time we visit.
- Thomas (8/5): - Beautiful property next to campus.
- Norman (8/5): - Room needs light switch on wall at entry that turns on lights interior. Inadequate ventilation in bathroom. Sink drains slowly. Hot water takes too long to get hot. Very loud toilet. Great windows! Very clean room!
- Cole (10/5): - Like the location and cleanliness.
- Patricia (10/5): - Clean, good staff, nice location.
- richard (8/5): Nice place to stay - We were very disappointed in the fact that there was not a breakfast buffet available as noted in the write up. This was one of the main reasons we stayed there. The evening restaurant was very nice with good food and drink selections. The room itself was clean, comfortable and quiet
- Elaine (10/5): - The Inn offers a beautiful and serene environment for the weary traveler. The beds sleep well, and we loved the extra pillows. A restaurant located on the premises and just short walk up the street are local restaurants. Ample parking. Would stay here again.
- Lisa (10/5): - Very clean, nice staff. Would stay here again
- Chris (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and friendly!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint - Very nice, quaint place to stay. Nice and clean and quiet. Excellent restaurant as well!
- Laurel (10/5): Perfect in every way! - Always exceptional, friendly and courteous staff. Location is perfect for anything at DePauw and within walking distance to many great restaurants.
- Bridget (10/5): - I loved my stay the only thing I wish I knew before was the try to get there before 5pm it’s hard to find parking after that.
- James (6/5): - Good location
- Scott (10/5): - Excellent staff!
- Rebecca (10/5): - Very nice place to stay with family with kids
- Connie (10/5): - Very nice staff and rooms are nice and quite would recommend this property to stay at.
- Angelica (8/5): - The room was mice, clean, and location was convenient (near DePauw University). I did not like that the room was not so much sound proof. I was able to hear next door conversations clearly (might of been just that specific room).
- Ronald (8/5): - Room is very clean and comfortable.
- Norma J (10/5): Family Reunion time. - We were very pleased with our room. We ask to be near another family member who we do not see often and we ended up with joining rooms. Which was great. The front desk was helpful with a place for an evening meal. All was great/
- 961paulr (8/5): Best place to stay in Greencastle, or any town nearby. - I stay at the Inn at DePauw frequently for business travel. I would say I have probably spent 30+ nights here this year, and the biggest complaint I have about the place is that sometimes I can't get a reservation.
Usually, the Inn is not what I would say is "super busy". But, at times they have events that have been booked out for a long time, so I have to stay elsewhere. When that has happened, it is always a disappointment, because all of the other places I have stayed around Greencastle have been sub-par.
Outside of that, my complaints are about the same as they are for most hotels; they need to upgrade their entertainment from TV's with poorly optioned Direct TV to TV's that are "Smart TV's" so that you can view your own streaming services.
That said, the wifi at the Inn is strong, no problem watching Netflix on your laptop.
The Inn is also dog friendly, and thank you to the inn for not being oppressive with the fee for said privilege. $40 for the entire stay, not $25-75 per night like many places.
- Karen (10/5): - My first stay at the Inn. Lovely. Staff were wonderful. Beds comfortable. Clean. Walkable to restaurants and shops. Will return.
- Sharon (10/5): - Wonderful staff. Desk staff helped us find the campus building we needed and were always very friendly.
Cleaning staff we fast, efficient and friendly.
- Vincent (10/5): - Very nice very quiet
- Joe (10/5): - This is a nice friendly place to stay.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Always nice and convenient. Hopefully daily housekeeping will begin again soon.
- John (8/5): - Good freindly service. Had breakfast at hotel restaurant. Good menu. Excellent service from wait staff.
- Karen (10/5): - All surroundings, accommodations of good quality, beautiful
- Tracy (10/5): - -
- jennifer (10/5): - Always so nice!
- Coral (10/5): - Updated rooms. Quiet
- Maryellen (10/5): above & beyond - Our stay over Christmas was amazing! The hotel is clean, quiet and the staff was super accommodating. Robin at the front desk was so thoughtful-she brought in a bigger sized coffee cup for my husband when he mentioned he liked a big cup of coffee! the coffee btw was always available & excellent!
- Martha (10/5): - Great stay! Very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff.
