Guest Reviews
- Bridie (6/5): - There was an issue with my room so after Inspection by staff I was upgraded.
Food was disappointing and did not measure up to excellent reviews but friendly and attentive owner more than made up for.
I did not use the bar but looked cosy and welcoming.
Breakfast was good made to order only thing was choice of fresh fruit not as expected but was end of morning so no qualms there.
- Brian (10/5): Nice hotel and would stay again - Lovely Hotel and nice food. Sadly didn't manage to sit out in the beer garden as so many wasps but no fault of the Hotel. Room was very nice, just the creaky floor boards but hey, that's just character.
- Karen (8/5): Nice place to stay - We were taking the wine tasting train from Llanfair Caereinion so needed a place to stay😊 The Cann Office was a place my parents used to frequent years ago so also a bit of a nostalgia trip.
Made very welcome by the hosts especially Rachel. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bed was great, fabulous nights sleep. We were on the front of the hotel near a main road but very little traffic come bedtime so not a problem. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. I opted for an omelette which was delicious. Again, nothing was any trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Lovely room for one night. The owners went out of their way to accommodate any requests. The food in the restaurant was a delicious home cooked meal. Delighted to have found a gem of a place.
- gillian (6/5): - The best thing was the food, and the young lady who was appearing to run it, she was very good. Very helpful. The worst thing was the cleaning, the bath had a film of scum in it, the bathroom windowsill was covered in dust, the windows have been painted by someone who i hope never drives a car, as they obviously cant see. Paint everywhere on the glass. Worst of all, the Fire Door near our room wedged open!!! Wouldnt have saved many lives propped open by a door wedge. But, the young lady made up for the downfall, and the food.
- John (10/5): - Very nice family run
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful pub, with lovely food & accommodation.
- Lauren (4/5): - The check in was fine. The room was dingy, the floor was filthy and hadn't even been hoovered. The bed sheets had hairs in and one really smelt like cigarette's. The food was nice but we decided to leave and didn't stay. Hoping to get a refund.
- David (10/5): - Very relaxing stay with very comfortable bed great food and atmosphere.
- Louise (10/5): - Lovely property going back to 1310 AD. Steeped in history, wonderful staff, lovely stay.
- Chris (10/5): - Good food great service friendly staff quiet location
- DAVID JOHN (8/5): - It was perfect for a one night business trip, comfortable Bed, spacious room and everything was catered for.
- Heidi (10/5): A comfortable historical stay! - A lovely place with an interesting history, super friendly welcome, lovely room and everything we needed. We dined there too and the food was spot on, really tasty, good portions and fairly priced. The only thing I would say is that the room was a little chilly and we couldn’t find controls to change that. However I assumed as it was summertime the heating was off, it just happened to be a rainy chilly May Day! I had a lovely deep bath in the freestanding tub and was soon back to being warm!
- Juanita (8/5): - Friendly staff beautiful surroundings
- Roy (10/5): - An old property beautifully kept .Breakfast was excellent. Service excellent.
- Stephen (10/5): - We had a lovely time staff were friendly and helpfull food especially breakfast was excellent
Loved the artwork and photos throughout of beutifull surroundings
- Chloe (10/5): Recommend - Shower was slightly small, and flooding issue causing bowing of the floor in the food area.
Rissotto was amazing and the staff could not be faulted
- Cherry (10/5): - The owners were down to earth and friendly. The room was clean and attractive. Lots to visit in and around Welshpool. I really enjoyed my sort stay here. Would definately reccommend it.
- Diane (6/5): - Good food, comfortable beds, but several biting flys because no window screens.
- Cheryl (10/5): A fabulous weekend break - A fabulous few days away.
Lovely food in a family run hotel, who all work very hard to ensure our stay was as comfortable and pleasant as could be. Thank you for your hospitality.
- Shaun (10/5): - Nice clean and friendly place. Lovely room with comfy bed. Evening meal was very nice and so was breakfast
- Kim (10/5): Lake Vyrnwy stay - Lovely hotel and staff in great location for Lake Vyrnwy. Nice size comfortable rooms
- Les (10/5): - Very comfy bed and quiet room. Had a great nights sleep.
- David (8/5): - Quaint quicky great location
- Mark (8/5): Perfect for a one night stay - One night stay with two friends. All of us were very happy with our rooms. Evening meal was good and staff and hotel owner were all very friendly. Breakfast was good too.
- Simon (10/5): Beautiful room - Our room was very characterful with lovely old floorboards and nice padded chairs. Super king sized bed (very comfortable).
Nice selection of drinks with specialised fruit teas and hot chocolate provided in the room.
Overall the accommodation is very spacious and full of period charm.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
The Hotel is well placed for days out to Powis Castle, lake Vyrnwy, Barmouth and many local RSPB reserves.
I recommend the vegan curry.
- Jane (10/5): A perfect stop over - From the first welcome out goats were friendly approachable and helpful , the room was excellent and very welcoming after a day walking through the hills it contained everything we could have needed
Food !!! Excellent , tasty , presented well , great ingredients and served with care and pride thank you for a great evening
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Arrived at check in time 4pm as advert, made to wait,
After 20 mins room was ready
Dirty marks on wall in room,
Flush toilet and the water hammer sounded like floor was about collapse.
Not friendly at all and felt like we were a burden, perhaps not he right platform to leave the rest of the info
- Michelle (8/5): - Lovely comfy bed. Very tasteful bedroom decor.
- Mark (8/5): - Loads of character in the place. Rooms were clean and comfy for a 1 night business trip. Tiny TV on the wall but this wasnt a major issue for me. There was lots of tea, coffee and bottled water in the room. Small shampoo/showergel bottles, hand soap and moisturiser in the compact bathroom. The shower was a little awkward to use but i was told it was my use of the temperature control that was wrong. Due to the remoteness they dont have mains sewerage but a sceptic tank - which has led them to using macerators for the bathroom waste - again not a problem for me. The food was ok in the evening and the breakfast was good.
- John (10/5): - We stayed here for a weekend as we had a wedding nearby . The room was amazing , beautiful and comfortable. Everyone who worked at the hotel went above and beyond to make our stay special. The food was delicious with lots of choice . Room was topped up with milk etc while we were at the wedding for our return as I’d mentioned I loved a cup of tea before I go to bed. Definitely would visit again , the hotel is beautiful as well as the service. Thank you
- Julie (8/5): - Venue was lovely.
- David Gordon (10/5): - Very friendly, an enjoyable stay.
- Ian (10/5): - Had a brilliant stay here for 3 days.We were upgraded to a larger room due to length of stay. Huge queen sized bed with lovely views.
Food in the evening and breakfast was excellent. Hosts very amiable and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.
- A (10/5): Comfortable and clean accommodation - We stayed here on a one night business/ holiday trip. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. We had an evening meal which was very well presented and excellent quality.
- Istvan (10/5): - I recomend for everybody. It is amazing!!!
- Daniel (10/5): - Lovely comfortable big bed, nice breakfast lovely evening meals
- Ankit (2/5): *Do not booked**Worse hotel experience of the life - Unethically practice, no one answering phone on reception, i have left messages about slightly late to reach hotel.
But inhuman behaviour, not allowed to enter in the hotel.
When i reached to hotel, the manager / staff have looked on from window and switched off lights. I was waited for few minutes but no one open the door.
If you put name as hotel, you should allowed people to check-in.
But here, the hotel charged me money and not allowed me to enter in the hotel bcz i m slightly late (just after 12 midnight).
So i have to stay outside in the car for whole night, and when i requested for refund of my money, the hotel manager had refused to refund any single penny. No apologies for the behaviour, and instead of that they have hang up the phone. Very disgusting behaviour.
And surprisingly hotel.com have no apologies for this inhumane behaviour of hotel manager, and replied for complaint as they can't do anything.
- Ian (10/5): - We had a great evening and over night stay.. bath in the room is brilliant.. definitely recommend Cann Office..

- Gareth (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Lovely stay at Cann Office Hotel. Free parking and wifi, which worked well. Clearly recently renovated, room was very comfortable. Great menu choice, tasty food and very reasonably priced. All staff extremely friendly and accommodating.
- James (10/5): - A charming out-of-the-way place very quiet even though it was above a pub.
- Phil (8/5): Last minute booking - Booked the room on the day. We were welcomed and shown to our room which was very pleasant. Timber beams and large comfortable bed. Pub/ food available but we had already rated on the way. Great breakfast. Would recommend. Thanks.

Owners and staff very helpful
Thanks for having us
- Tanya (10/5): Relaxing long weekend! - This hotel/pub was fantastic. The rooms are so nice, relaxing and comfortable. The food and service were excellent. Perfect location for a relaxing getaway surrounded by beautiful scenery.
- Christoph (6/5): - Friendly service
- Shivani (6/5): Okay for one night. Friendly staff. - Room itself was nice. The bathroom was very uncomfortable. Rather than force a bath tub inside the bedroom, just have a larger, easier to use loo.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Last minute booking - The lady seems to run the place almost on her own! Full marks. Receptionist, dinner and breakfast service. Very friendly and helpful.
Room ok, if a little overpriced.
Two problems: shower did not work and poor quality chicken in a dinner dish.
Location good for what we wanted.
- Darren (8/5): Enjoyable two night stay - Two night stay in friendly family run hotel. Remotely located, but also well positioned trips around the area. Breakfast was excellant and restaurant has a good menu choice (a pity just about everything came with chips, but they were nice chips!). It is an old property so expect the floorboards and stairs to creak a lot! Room was clean and comfortable. Overall, an enjoyable stay.
- Malcolm (10/5): - Excellent and friendly
- simon (10/5): - Super service nice food great beer garden and walks
- stephen (10/5): Steve t - We stayed in room 6 very comfortable very clean
The food was excellent I would go back just for the chips
Staff very friendly very helpful
Very good value for money
- Beverley (10/5): - Spent a wonderful night at this hotel. The room was clean and really comfortable.
The owners made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- Malcolm (10/5): - The couple running the hotel are most pleasant and personable. Nothing appears too much trouble. The locals (Welsh speaking) were welcoming and happy to chat ( in English) and share their snug bar with us. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant was open most of the day. The hotel us also the family home and it was lovely feeling that you were part of the family. The walking in the area is highly varied and not too strenuous. Lake Vrynwy is nearby.
We will stay there again.

- S (10/5): - The room was cosy and comfortable. The owners were lovely, friendly and welcoming. Made sure we had everything we needed and if we asked for anything we got it straight away.
Definitely chose it again.
- Colin (10/5): - The property was originally built in 1310 and over the last few years the owner has rebuilt the bedrooms retaining the original brickwork and uneven floors, refitted the bathrooms with modern sanitary ware, the beds are big and comfortable, the food is off a high standard as are the wines. Would I stay at Cann Office again, O yes
- EILEEN (10/5): Weekend break - Exceptional service in this family run hotel. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Food and wine reasonably priced and we will certainly stay here again if we return to the area.
- John (10/5): - Clean room, very friendly and competent staff
- Tracy (10/5): Friendly and welcoming - Friendly and welcoming hosts. Large room with expected amenities. Great breakfast. If we have to give a slight negative its that the ensuite was lacking in anywhere to put toiletries, would be useful to have a shelf or even a stool.
All in all it was comfortable and we slept well.
- Jim (8/5): Good value for money - Nice hotel with clean rooms. Evening meal was very nice indeed.
- Roger (10/5): What a find! - We were looking for a B&B to break up our journey close to Powys Castle. The room was beautiful. The bar meal and drinks were fab and good value for money.
