Guest Reviews
- Mcmanus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phoebe (9/5): Great little getaway hotel - Room was lovely and dog was allowed included in price. Breakfast was nice and good location. Could have done with a fan in the room as it was very warm during a mini heatwave (otherwise no complaints!)
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (8/5): Anniversary stay - Nice and cosy atmosphere. Couple of minor issues which were quickly resolved but should have been in place before we got there.
- Dave (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (5/5): Passable - Liked the room and aspect, good size room, comfortable bed
Manager was pleasant and happy to please Attention to detail, no room servicing over a 3 night stay. No separate waste bin in bathroom
No tissues
Poor maintenance outside made poor initial impression
No variety in food presentation for breakfast
Spring on door closure made doors very hard to open.
- Andrew (8/5): Enjoyable stay and Francesco is a very welcoming host. - A more varied selection of cereals and pastries ( not just containing chocolate chips) would be weivome. Bath towels, although thick, are rather small.
- Darren (7/5): Good hosts - Spacious room and a comfy bed. Hosts very friendly Place in need of some TLC
- Carline (9/5): We had an wonderful time, the hosts are fantastic and attentive. We will use again. - The room was clean and welcoming with a good sized bathroom. The bed was huge although the mattress sloped to the edge a little, and the furniture comfortable for our stay. The breakfast was continental and some of the choices were limited. There was little option for dietary requirements being bread based, toast, cake, croissants etc. Juices were available but hot drinks and milk had to be served, slowing down the ability to eat cereal. This said, the host was attentive and extremely helpful at all times and we had not told them of any needs.
Being disabled, there is no ground floor bathroom, so having limited mobility made it a chore to climb the stairs to the room.
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelagh (8/5): Very good -
- Marc (9/5): Superb - We arrived later on /,very tired and hungry.
They were both very friendly & helpful especially with the dog / will stay again if in the area. 👍
- Clare (8/5): Very friendly staff. - It was a small hotel with just 5 rooms on the outskirts of Stratford. It was a very hot day and there was no air conditioning
- Mike (6/5): Very disappointing. - Location was ideal for us. Parking ok.
Difficult to find anything else positive to say. Almost everything, from check in to leaving. I booked because of good reviews, but they were all very misleading. The continental breakfast for example was the worst I’ve ever experienced. My wife only eat a piece of to sliced toast and a banana which she had to ask for. I could go on…..
- Vivian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (5/5): Passable -
- Sandy (3/5): We enjoyed our visit to Stratford on Avon but unfortunately our stay at Victoria Spa Lodge wasn’t go - The bed was large & very comfortable. I really don’t like complaining but the entrance to the building was unkempt. The plant pots were full of weeds & it certainly wasn’t my idea of a beautiful garden as stated in the description! Nowhere did it say that it wasn’t suitable for elderly people, & as my partner & I are in our 80’s, having to climb up a winding staircase to the 2nd floor, frequently, was quite a challenge.
The en-suite was minuscule. There was a very dusty coffee machine but nothing to put in it. The curtains were holey & falling off the curtain pole.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Friendly host, good location, bright room with comfortable bed Breakfast lacked a little imagination
- Theresa (6/5): One night only was enough. - Quaint
Good location
Friendly staff Needs a full refurbishment. Mould in shower room, torn curtains
Scuffed paintwork
Sofas in communal area dirty and torn
Bed mattress sinks to the base
- Nick (9/5): Nice place, lovely staff, good value - but no hot breakfast is a big disappointment for me. - Lovely old building- convenient for town. Disappointed that there was no proper hot breakfast option. To be fair it did say continental breakfast in the description- but I didn’t notice it.
- Jayne (7/5): Good -
- Samantha (10/5): Perfect Stratford-upon-Avon getaway! - Beautiful Victorian home situated next to the canal. Room was clean and comfortable, decorated in keeping with the house. Plenty of parking. You can walk along the canal into town or you can catch the bus from the Park & Ride for ÂŁ2.50 return. Lovely continental breakfast in the morning. Hosts were friendly but professional. A great stay, thank you!
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Friendly, polite and relaxed atmosphere from owners.
Clean, good location.
- Neil (7/5): Good -
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome old building, friendly staff, lovely room, yummy breakfast. Doggy friendly. Would recommend adding a bin to put dog poop in, a lot of dog friendly places don't really have a specific dog bin, but there's usually a general waste bin and this is the first place there was no bin at all, although there is a lovely big garden.
- Tony (5/5): Passable - Location Lack of facilities in room
No bed changes or towel change
- Balraj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cbb (8/5): Very good - Close to lovely walk alongside canal. Close to park and ride although we walked into town centre easily.
- Helen (10/5): Lovely warm welcome when we arrived , even though we were a bit early . The room was lovely . I enjoyed the continental - Spotlessly clean . Quirky rooms . Very quiet
- Dianna (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house with large rooms, and our own facilities A bit far from sites
- Liz (7/5): Good - Beautiful big room in a quiet spot just outside Stratford. Clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was quite disappointing. Choices were limited so we bought alternative milk and fruit to boost it a bit.
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Baggins108 (8/5): Very good - The kettle doesn't fit under the tap
- Shirley (8/5): Very good - Lovely hosts, very welcoming. Quiet, comfortable bed, tea coffee in bedroom, lovely breakfast Bathroom could have done with plug and tiles clean
- Stevecarol99 (8/5): Very good -
- Brija (8/5): Good value for money - In an excellent location walking distance to Stratford city centre. Easy free on site parking available. Both Francesco and Abby made our stay very pleasant being very friendly and helpful While a grand building the property is in need of some improvements to return it to its best. The bedroom we were in was a bit tired with peeling wallpaper and the bathroom definitely needed work doing
- Milena (10/5): Loved it! - 100% recommended! The place is beautiful and Abigail and Francesco are great hosts.
- Jill (10/5): A fantastic stay in a great location - Fabulous hosting by Abi and Francesco! Couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful. Our room was stunning and had every facility you could possibly need. Great location, an easy 20min walk into Stratford along the canal. Such a beautiful town. Thank you!
- Shamueel (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing - The Staff ,were ok ,the Breakfast was very good The shower was crap, only had half a toilet roll , black bags under the bed the Bed was very uncomfortable, wasn't a Great location and window s couldn't shut
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Tania (10/5): Very good value and lovely relaxed atmosphere - Lovely period property with a blue plaque. Very clean and lovely modern bathroom (gorgeous Tropic handwashing and lotion). Nice welcome and relaxed vibe. Lots of choice at breakfast and lovely vegan options on request. Nice garden area to take coffee in. Very comfortable beds and pillows.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Got a cancellation very quick easy to book - Old fashioned comfortable freindly kind staff nothink was to much effort catering for everyone’s needs will definitely go back again It was cold in room
- Sukybangor (9/5): Superb -
- Martyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (10/5): Lovely, would definitely stay there again - Francesco was so helpful There wasn’t anything I didn’t like
- George (10/5): Nice safe enjoyable stay. - Nice old building with lovely interior. Our beagle was welcome to stay and no extra pet charge. The staff were lovely and friendly and gave the history of the house and information on the local area. Nice comfortable fixtures and fittings and great shower. Fresh continental breakfast and succulent croissants.
- Susan (8/5): Holiday - Really quiet, lovely walk along the canal. They could have done with a small table in the room, Owners were great and helpful. Didn't do hot breakfast, it was small continental
- Helen (8/5): Very welcoming. Great room. Very comfortable - Beautiful and clean. Great bed!
- Laurian (9/5): Wonderful stay and welcoming staff -
- Owain (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, friendly stuff and comfy bed. Breakfast was also lovely!
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Lovely hosts, very warm welcome and great continental breakfast. Large, clean room. Good value for money. Strange location near an industrial estate but an easy walk to town. Dogs barking in another room.
- Belinda (10/5): Excellent stay. - Excellent stay bedding very nice room size quite big .
Breakfast continental which was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay.
Short bus ride into town .
Francesco very pleasant extremely helpful owner. N/a
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional - Relaxed environment. Super value for money. Hostess super helpful/friendly. Great location to walk into town via canal Nothing
- Angela (7/5): Very relaxing stay - It was a beautiful old house right by the canal. Can’t think of anything really, except it will not be good for old people because of the stairs
- Mayuka (10/5): wonderful! - The atmosphere of the building and the interior of the room were both lovely, and the view of the garden from the room was beautiful. The bed was also very comfortable.
The surroundings were quiet, so I was able to relax and enjoy my stay.
The owner was very kind and prepared a breakfast box upon request.
If I have the chance to come back, I would definitely love to stay here again.
- Wylde (8/5): definitely would stay again - Staff fantastic! if the place had a bar it would have been perfect. However, the manager was kind enough to point out that they did have a few drinks if we wanted to make a donation, in the lounge, which was great. We had brought our own wine and he provided us with some ice. Nothing was too much trouble.
- Gill (10/5): A lovely place to stay. - This is such a lovely property. Full of character. Very clean. Lovely friendly hosts. Parking. We had room 4 on the top floor. Lovely. Very spacious. Even though it is at the front of the property we had a good night’s sleep. Very comfortable bed. Good powerful shower. Loved the breakfast- fruit juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, pastries, muffins, breads, jams etc and meats and cheeses. What a feast.
Victoria Spa Lodge is only a little drive out of the centre of Stratford.
- Steve (7/5): Good -
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bozena (10/5): Relaxing, quiet - A lovely friendly staff, beautiful area I liked everything
- Lucy (8/5): Fab stay, friendly and welcoming hosts, loved the house and garden, and my dog loved the treats waiting for him. Great - Gorgeous house, loved the decor. Felt well loved and cared for. The windows were fab. Original and quirky. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast room beautifully decorated. Unfortunately I was unlucky that my room had issues with no hot water. However, I know that Abby and Francesco are on it and it will be sorted.
- Lynda (8/5): Good value and comfortable stay. - Not far from the centre and easy to find. Good value. Lovely continental breakfast. Francesco was a fabulous host.
- Paul (6/5): one night, breakfast was good. bed was sooo big and comfy - breakfast very good bathroom was a bit small
- Claire (10/5): Great value accommodation in great location, close to Stratford upon Avon - Gorgeous property in a fantastic location right on the canal and within walking distance to the centre of Stratford upon Avon. The bed was super comfy, the room spacious, curtains nice and thick so the room was really dark at night. Off road parking a bonus. Really close to the train station if you don’t want to walk or drive into town. Hosts were really friendly. My only minor disappointment was not having a cooked breakfast option (though I think this is detailed, but I must have just missed it). The continental breakfast was really plentiful (pastries / yoghurts / fruits / ham / cheese etc) though so not a huge issue.
- Phil (8/5): This is a beautiful house but needs some love and TLC.... - This is a difficult one to review. The house is a beautiful house with some history to it. Located off the beaten track but right close to the main road access makes it good for Access to link roads and Stratford itself. Plenty of parking and a 1.5mile walk down the canal via the industrial estate as access to the canal by the house is closed presently, takes 30mins. The park and ride is also just up the road which was useful.
We were greeted by the very friendly and helpful Francesco who we saw intermittently for the 3 nights we were there. We were told where to find out room not shown up a flight of semi grand stairs to our room with a very impressive antique wooded bed with a canopy. Quite spacious and furnishings were all antique and in keeping with the age of the property. The bathroom was newly refurbed and was comfortable and well lit. The breakfast was a simple and adequate affair with toast, cereals, fresh fruits and yoghurt. The warm pastries particularly lovely. the TV in the room was balanced on a tall wardrobe but I think was originally a display cabinet and worked fine and on line streaming could be used for I Player, Netflix etc with your own log in information. The dining room is beautiful and quite grand and used antique China etc for breakfast. There is an adjoining lounge but as there is a drinks tray with an array of bottles on there and other personal looking items in there assume it wasn't for guest use. A few niggles here. we were in the room for 3 nights and the room was not looked at once in that time. Tea, coffee etc were on a night stand on the landing outside the room but didn't always have replenishments so needed to ask. There was no plug for the sink so need to ask for one, was given it being told they had issues with people leaving it in with the tap running so no longer did so...Soap dispenser at the sink ran out so used shower gel instead. The bathroom door had a very minute cheap bolt to keep it closed or it opened as did the shower door when taking a shower. Hot water took ages and one morning had none. Wi-Fi didn't always work either but there was a good phone signal etc so didn't matter. The biggest bug bear was the kettle etc was on the top of a beautiful antique chest of drawers with no protection and no plug socket! So had to plug it into a trailing socket dangling down the side of the wardrobe on the other side of the room and place it on the carpet on the floor which serviced the Tv also. Anyone with mobility or balance issues doing this for a boiling kettle could of had issues here. The heating only came on occasionally so there was a small oil radiator we plugged into the trailing socket also to warm the room. There were old pillowcases uses as drawer liners which I didn't feel I wanted to put my clothes on. The bed was lovely but rolled together in the middle as could do with a new mattress. There was no heating in the dining room for breakfast and was cold. The house is up for sale right now and there is an air of neglect and sadness about it with no sound, dying flowers and unkempt garden etc, abandoned caravan behind the hedge and the like. The décor needs major maintenance work on it too. This isn't an assassination of the place as it is beautiful but the things I've pointed out are pretty fundamental to providing a comfortable, safe and pleasant place to spend time in.
- Darrin (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (9/5): A delightful house with history offering a very friendly welcome and comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend. - Good location, easy walk into town along the canal, although the first part is closed. The room was large and very comfortable, with an excellent shower. Good breakfast included and served in a large breakfast room overlooking the garden, which also hosted a comfy lounge area. A proper home from home.
- Andrea (10/5): Stunning property with lovely staff. - A beautiful Victorian property, with lots of charm. Nothing.
- Penny (9/5): Superb - Lovely, homely place.
- Lynn (8/5): Overall it was an enjoyable stay. Great location. Would recommend. - The breakfast was continental. To be honest it was probably a good option as we ate very well the previous evenings and therefore didn't need a cooked breakfast.
There was a good choice of fruit, yogurt, pastries & cereal. A bit disappointed as there was no mini fridge in the bedroom as was stated on room facilities.
Would have been nice to have a couple of bottles of water provided.
Fortunately we had some with us.
- Tony (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, who went over and above expectations. Room was a bit dated, but perfectly acceptable and clean.
- Karen (10/5): Fantastic clean hotel with super friendly staff - Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Stratford Upon Avon. Owner super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Room was spacious and very clean. Lovely continental breakfast
- Christine (6/5): Pleasant - Period house a bit off the main road but lovely garden to sit out...
- Stephen (8/5): Very relaxing -
- Teny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gawen (10/5): Lovely venue and extremely nice staff. - The rooms and surrounding area were beautiful and Abby (who runs it) could not have been more helpful and friendly. There are lots of great pieces of art all around and the hotel was once visited by Queen Victoria. Lovely breakfast too Nothing
- Katherine (7/5): Great host - Really nice host who was very accommodating and nice. Our biggest complaint would be that the bed was old and very uncomfortable, the springs had gone. If the bed had been better it would have been a perfect stay:
- Ladkin (9/5): Superb - Host polite, friendly, and makes good coffee for breakfast. style of decor, size of room, fresh fruit at breakfast. New owners, I really wish them lots of luck in growing their business. Nothing didn't really like. new owners, so it's a work in progress. Curtains in the room need improving as a couple hooks not on properly and pillows a bit flat
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant people at the victoria spa lounge really went above and beyond for us , really friendly great facilities and lovely property my next visit to stratford upon avon I will be booking this place again, I would highly recommend to anyone
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -

Best coffee! Nothing
- Maree (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Room was very comfortable. Nothing
- Hannah (8/5): Very good - Lovely house and lovely location! Felt very at home and looked after by the hosts. Our dogs were welcome and had a comfortable stay too. The continental breakfast that was included was a lovely touch. Felt like I was in an Austen novel Little bit of music at breakfast would be nice and fresh milk with tea/coffee in the morning in the rooms and some kind of room service/phone number we could perhaps call if needed
- Tracy (8/5): Great stay. Lovely period property with good facilities - Room was clean with good facilities. Continental breakfast was fresh and well presented Bed could be more comfortable
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
