Guest Reviews
- Judithe (8/5): - The bedroom and bathroom were a bit shabby for the price
- Smith-Crewdson (10/5): Don't hesitate to book - Welcoming friendly pub. Food was excellent đ home made. Room very clean and comfortable.
Would definitely stay again. Excellent service at breakfast and a delicious home made full English. Everything was brilliant
- Eleanor (9/5): Quailty, local place with lovely room, great staff & fabulous food. - Great rooms, food and staff, even a community pub quiz that we were encouraged to join. Fabulous place to stay while walking the Dales Way. Na
- Gail (7/5): - Lovely landlady and bar staff
Great food Room was small and scruffy and very dated woodchip paper on the bathroom, holes in the carpet where it had been cut to fit.
- jane (8/5): - The breakfast was good the staff were really nice and friendly Nothing it all was good
- Taylor (8/5): - The staff were really friendly and polite the bed was super comfy and clean and breakfast lovely nothing too much trouble with plenty of parking drink prices were reasonable We stayed in the grouse which was a large room because its an old building the plumbing was noisy and decor a bit dated and a dripping cold tap but wouldnt put me off staying again
- Julie (8/5): Our stay was enjoyable for one night - It was clean, staff were friendly and welcoming.
- Edward (8/5): Undersells itself. - Great food, comfy beds and friendly staff. My main point would be that the restaurant undersells itself; it advertises fish & chips, burgers and gammon and chips. The reality is far from that. We had a very high quality pie and there was other great selections on the menu. Great breakfast also. Well stocked bar.
- Sybil (9/5): Another lovely stay - I have been several times and I enjoy it very much Everything was great
- Richard (4/5): - Very friendly staff and nice terrace to sit in the sunshine. Food very poor. Ordered fish and it was mainly batter. Ordered mushy peas and got garden peas.
Breakfast overcooked bacon and sausage and items on the plate I did not order - black pudding.
The room was very small and needs a refresh and new carpet. Disappointing at the price of the room.
- Broster (7/5): Friendly, happy environment - Homemade yoghurt in individual jars was really tasty at breakfast.
All staff really friendly especially at breakfast, friendly chatty lady.
Pillow, duvet, mattress really nade for a good night's sleep Macerator when tap water turned on or toilet flushed in ensuite.
- Sid (7/5): - Breakfast was excellent.
Shona, who served us each morning, was brilliant. The pub needs a good refresh.
The front of the pub is grim and does not look like the image shown on the advert.. A bit of effort could easily improve the look .
The room had no hooks to hang anything, including in the shower room. Again, an easy fix.
The one meal that we had was well below expectations , very poor.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): - The location was very good. Breakfast was excellent and dinner and service were also good.
Top marks to Scarlet who was utterly charming and helpful. And a special mention for Shona who brightened our breakfast. The bathroom was awful ( room 6). Little more than a cupboard with poor fittings and a lack of planning to utilise the existing space. No shelf space, no hooks on the wall. Nowhere to put anything. Definitely needs a refurb.
There was no hairdryer in the room and we had to ask for one, which fortunately turned up. Thank you Scarlet!
- Hodgkinson (10/5): - Really friendly staff. Amazing food. Really accommodating, especially for people with a dog. Great spot for anyone who's exploring the area. No complaints at all.
- Robert (9/5): Good food, good beer, good stay. -
- Tracey (7/5): Great service but room dirty. - The staff were really friendly and the food was lovely. The room was so unlean. There were cobwebs on the light and the curtain pole. The dust on the skirting boards and the wardrobe was bad, the carpet was dirty. There was so much mould in the bathroom and around the window. It was so bad in the bathroom, huge patch's of it as the extractor fan was so clogged up it wasn't working so there is no ventilation. It generally felt so unclean.
- Rosie (9/5): Very happy with choice - The staff were over & above - very welcoming Nothing
- Darryl (8/5): Nice place ..To be brutally honest , it has seen better times and could do with a refurb â but those things cost money a - East access
Parking available
On site bar Room a little cramped, but no worse that a cruise cabin !
- Alison (8/5): - The surroundings, great location , the food the staff were lovely Could do with a link of paint
- John (6/5): -
- Chris (8/5): - Cosy hotel. Nice food and decent bar Nothing to complain about
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Comfortable - All staff were friendly & welcoming The room was clean but in need of a refresh
- Simon (9/5): -
- Susan (9/5): - Lovely Breakfast and we ate there both nights , food was of very high standard.
- Gerald (7/5): Very enjoyable - Breakfast very good , staff very helpful The beer selection
- Leslie (8/5): -
- Jeremy (7/5): Lovely staff, good food but let down a little by an outdated bathroom with no hot water. The room couldâve been cleaner - Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good food. Room outdated and no hot water!
- Jane (6/5): We enjoyed our stay. The shower was cold but the room was very comfortable. The staff were so friendly making us feel ve - The staff were lovely The shower was cold.
- Harlan (10/5): Perfect Dales getaway with incredible food and service - Charming, location and staff were incredible
The food is absolutely phenomenal.
- Adam (8/5): - Wonderful food and exceptionally friendly staff.
- Sybil (10/5): Excellent as aleays - Love this place. Visited several times and will visit again. Food exceptional, staff exceptional. Comfortable friendly hotel itâs one of our favourite places in a beautiful area. Special thank you to Freddie who is a one off and to Lionel the owner for his excellent food and the effort made by him and all his staff for an excellent evening.
- Christine (8/5): - Meals were excellent
- Simpson (10/5): Excellent dog friendly pub and accommodation - The Clarendon was very welcoming for with dogs. Lovely room. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent. Shona was so lovely. She made sure wr we had everything. She is an asset to the Clarendon. Will definitely recommend. Evening meal was lovely. Nothing. All good
- Kathleen (6/5): Could have been so much better. - The location of the pub was good for walking in Wharfdale. The front of house staff were attentive and friendly. The pub looked shabby and wasnât particularly clean. The bedroom was very basic and the heating not very effective on a cold day. The food was almost good but the chefs were very young and probably needed a bit more direction.
It was expensive for what it was.
- Gaynor (4/5): Bed was comfortable and food was lovely - There wasnât much room to sit and relax , itâs quite small and all tables are made up for food either than relaxing and unwinding.
More restaurant than just chilling in front of a log fire .
It is a little tired looking and could do with a freshen up.
Staff were lovely, it was just the place a little disappointed.
The fire alarm went off at 7.45 am and there was no reason for this , we were all up at this point đ It could do with a good revamp
- Shane (10/5): -
- Goodinson (5/5): -
- Neil (7/5): Good enough but not exceptional - Room was ok but a little dissapointing.
First night lock didnt work, ensuite needs attention but bedroom itself decent enough.
No room service but it is a pub with rooms and dont doubt staff would have accommodated any reasonable requests.
Breakfast was delicious and plenty of options, set you up for the day.
Staff all friendly.
Dinners ok but pricey for what you get and dissapointed with game dishes on offer after seeing all its awards. Sausages most dissapointing as they were just same breakfast sausages, nice at brekkie but not really dinner. Not much accompanies the dinner dishes. ensuite very small and needs a refurb with panels falling off shower tray, boxing behind wc was off and brackets left on wall where something was removed. Shower access difficult as door opens against basin.
On a sanifo so loud at night if using loo but not much they can do about that one.
- FIONA (8/5): Good value pub in lovely location with excellent food. - Breakfast and dinner both very good, menu specialised in game and when we arrived the pub was full of staff from a neighbouring shoot who were enjoying themselves immensely, staff helpful and friendly, location very attractive and good for walking dog. The room had been modernised but in a slightly generic boutique hotel style way that was a bit uncomfortable, the bathroom was so small it was difficult to turn round in. The staff, however were all lovely and the food was very good.
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely overnight stay on our way to Scotland. - Very friendly and welcoming. Great location and wonderful venison.
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff were excellent. I had an amazing night's sleep. The breakfast was absolutely lovely. N/A
- Helen (8/5): Friendly pub would certainly return - Located near to many walks so did not need to use the car . Near to a fantastic Tea Rooms . Our room was quiet despite being over a pub.
Lovely food . Staff , particularly Shona and the blonde waitress in the evenings were wonderful - very helpful . The bed was comfy . Just a slight comment that the ceiling in the bathroom was a bit stained ? Damp .
- Andrea (8/5): Comfortable clean friendly - Great location amazing food
- Hugh (10/5): - Wonderful true Yorkshire pub. Always made to feel welcome and the food is fantastic âșïž
- Angela (10/5): - Excellent staff. Superb food.
- Mary (9/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Would go back. Hotel and Hebden are absolutely fantastic. -
- Antony (8/5): great location had a great stay - breakfast was excellent with great choice as was dinner we requested to single beds on our booking which didn't get done until we pointed out the mistake
- Paul (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Lovely location, great food! - Beautiful location! Room was clean and cozy and staff was great - breakfast was exceptional! Room was very small.
- lucy (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): -
- Renate (8/5): -
- Denise (5/5): Great location & food, room a bit disappointing for the price paid. - Breakfast was great good choice, room was bit dated & no room service, we didn't bother to ask for fresh towels but as radiator towel rail was not working had to use damp towels the next day, would of liked the room to be serviced, Food was great as were the staff.Great location we were visiting the area with friends of various walking abilities so we all had a great time despite the changeable weather. Had a group meal here which was great no complaints on food. No room service, no fresh towels daily.
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic, highly recommended - Fabulous restaurant for breakfast and dinner,
Reservation advised for the evening,
Staff were very attentive and helpful throughout my stay,
Homemade gooseberry jam was excellent at breakfast, Nothing
- Bren (9/5): - Like the rooms. The food was exceptional and the service was friendly and pleasant.
- Joanne (8/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Excellent stay very enjoyable stay - Breakfast was very good Nothing
- jennifer (10/5): Fantastic - Everything. Loved it. Nothing. We would visit again
- John (8/5): Accommodation suited our needs for a short stay - The room and bed were very comfortable. Being warm we had to have the window open which meant traffic noise was a bit of a nuisance. Breakfasts were very good as were the restaurant meals. Shower was adequate but lacked a non slip mat, grab handle and accessories shelf. All a âmustâ for disabilities. The shower head was also loose on the riser rail. What is mentioned above and access to the rooms is by a staircase only, through the bar which can be difficult with luggage.
- Jane (9/5): Lovely stay - Fantastic breakfast. Lovely location v good walk near by Bed and shower v small
- Fiona (9/5): Comfortable, friendly and topnotch food - Great food, welcome and spacious bedroom. Like the fresh milk arrangement of flasks for the room. Nothing
- Janet (8/5): Perfect - Lovely stop over , every was thought of , great service at both meals outstanding service at breakfast ! Nothing
- Shaul (9/5): Lovely stay and location - Welcoming and friendly staff.
Great location
Delicious breakfasts and meals
- DAVID (4/5): Good location place needs doing up - Given the wrong room when we booked a better one
- Helen (8/5): A brief one night stay. Nice for the duration but would have struggled if any longer as didnât get a good quality sleep - Lovely country traditional pub. Excellent food and the staff where very friendly and helpful The rooms could do with some tlc in areas. Just little things let it down
- Sheridan (10/5): A wonderful experience, totally enjoyable - Great choice of breakfast which was delicious each day. Very friendly helpful staff
Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Great location, with lots of choice for walking or driving.
- Helen (8/5): - Lovely family run excellent breakfast Could do with a fly zapper
- megson (10/5): Very relaxing, nice pint and good food - Location and friendly service Nothing
- Brian (8/5): -
- Roland (9/5): - Sehr schönes Pub/ Restaurant mit Ăbernachtung.
Zimmer schön und zweckmĂ€Ăig eingerichtet.
Hatte Sunday Roast. Perfekt. Selten so gut gegessen. Das Haus ist sehr hell hörig. Hat mich persönlich jetzt nicht so gestört, da ich nicht vor 23h Schlaf gesucht habe.
Standard Karte im Restaurant fande ich persönlich nicht so spannend. Essen aber sehr gut
- Ellen (9/5): Lovely food , great staff !!! - The staff are lovely , so friendly and helpful , the food is totally amazing !! Rooms comfortable and clean . Location is brilliant will visit again . Nothing to dislike , however, appreciate itâs an old building and altho spotless maybe needs a bit of updating .
- Jayne (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Brilliant. - Amazingly comfortable bed. Excellent food. Very friendly and helpful staff. We'll be back. Everything was perfect
- Emma (9/5): Superb - Amazing breakfast
- Kate (8/5): Disappointed by breakfast but otherwise a good stay. - Room was good and the bed was very comfortable Dinner was wonderful - one of the nicest venison dishes we've had, delicious candles beautifully cooked. Good choice of French wines to choose from. After such a delicious dinner breakfast was very disappointing. Presentation poor - fresh fruit was just a bowl with apples, oranges, bananas - no summer berries (we visited at the height of strawberry and raspberry season) no fruit compote or fresh fruit salad. Sausages tho cooked though were grey and had very little colour on them - presumably microwaved? Scrambled eggs were a bit sloppy. Homemade jam was a winner though.
- John (7/5): A great breakfast and staff(Laura) great. - Location and age of the building Room in need of refurbishment.
- Malcolm (8/5): Best food dinner and breakfast we have had in along time - Breakfast was exceptional. Choice quality of food and service excellent Nothing

Weak ventilation in bathroom
- Wendy (10/5): First visit loved location great walks by river, lovely pub everybody friendly - Breakfast exceptional, pet free room excellent

- Dennis (9/5): Superb -
- Sue (10/5): Friendly stay - Friendly staff excellent freshly cooked meals breakfast was great Only downside is that the rooms are snug

Beautiful breakfast included in the price.
Good evening meal menu.
The lovely village is just outside Grassington and is really worth exploring you can walk down to the river and the suspension bridge and beyond - highly recommend.
The bed was very comfortable and we had several really good sleeps. The towel rail in the bathroom was loose and you couldnât use it and the mirror and shelf on the wall of the bathroom were a bit loose too.
- Martin (9/5): Superb - Lovely bar, great food, great staff Poor mattress on bed made for uncomfortable sleep

- Tammi (9/5): Great place. - Great staff. Clean. Good food breakfast and evening. Could do with breakfast starting little earlier but only because I'm an early riser.
