- Nicola (5/5): Fine and they have done the refurb well. Jist needs a bit more TLC on the outside and better quality doors. - Great location and nice welcome on arrival No hot water in the morning. This was due to human error but not ideal. Could have had a few more options on the cooked breakfast. Also it was difficult to get in the side door after hours as the door handle seemed to be broken. A staff member let us in but that needs looking at.

The building is really classy and inside it was superb. I do think the exterior of the building could do with being painted, first impressions are everything.

- Jeet (4/5): For what we paid for our room I felt it was decorate very mediocre and cheap - The location and views from our bedroom were perfect. On both days the shower did not give hot water. It was Luke warm and we could not control this. It was reported to Scott and he got back to us saying he reset the boiler. That was as much as we got to sort out being able to enjoy a HOT shower.

No gluten free bread on last day no cereal for whole stay . No gluten free sausages available. No effort made on first day to rectify for following breakfasts . No oat /almond or coconut milk No dairy free butter Couldn’t get coffee as no alternative milk! These everyday things for a hotel are readily available to get in most shops. Just disappointed nobody took onboard my requests. Felt certain staff not interested Service could been better

The hotel was modern ,exceptionally clean ,loved the modern and minimal look.Very comfortable bed ,pillows and quality sheets and towels The manager Scott was friendly, very helpful and attentive . Breakfast was lovely too . I personally can’t fault it as very much to my taste .
- Phil (10/5): A Well Run & Great Value Hotel - The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and is deceptively minimal within the rooms. The staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. A really great experience and would return there. Some other guests were rude, noisy and uncomfortable to be around. The staff were professional and helpful but didn't deserve to be mistreated by boorish, entitled golf dudes. Well done to them for handling tricky customers.

Hair dryer and big towels were great as were the toiletries. Musty smell in bathroom - vinyl flooring not sealed allowing water from shower to seep under. Might be worth investigating.

- VinzClorthoKeyMaster (10/5): Fantastic - Booked for dinner on a Monday in August. Had the poached salmon and steak ciabatta followed by the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate roll and sorbet. All were excellent and staff were really nice. They have some lunch and Wednesday offers and we will definitely go back when we're in the area. It's a little bit further along from Frail centre but there's loads of free parking and only a 10 minute walk. If you're looking for somewhere for lunch or dinner definitely give it a try.
- Lisann (8/5): Good accommodation when you visit the Crail/St Andrews area - Easy check-in. Room was fine, maybe a bit dark, but nice view and the bathroom was lovely with a lot of natural light. Choice of cooked meal for breakfast was great, next to the little buffet (cornflakes, coffee, juice etc.). Breakfast is from 8 am to 9.15 am, so quite restricted. Check-out at 10 is quite early.

The staff were excellent, Scott looked after everyone and Gabbi and her companion were excellent on the first night but the 2nd night bar and waitressing staff weren't up to their standard! No marmalade for the toast! Pre cooked lasagne, let the meal down on the 2nd night! The rear grounds and car park is scheduled for a make over but that didn't detract from our visit.

Very small table which houses the tea tray not much room left for my stuff when getting ready of a morning. Bathroom door hits off the bed, shower door hits off the sink! There was a lot of dust in the room. Places hadn't been cleaned/ swept. Breakfast was also a bit of a let down. Continental selection was 4 choices of cereal! Toast with preserves. My poached egg tasted of vinegar so they must be putting too much in the water! My "smashed avocado " had been pureed to within an inch of it's life, looked like baby food! ( I suspected it came from a bottle) I was unable to eat it.

Evening meal was excellent and prepared and served quickly. Breakfast was also very good. Most impressive was the service from all the staff, who were very helpful and attentive. Definitely recommend it for a stay. Easy bus connection close by to St. Andrews and other villages.

Room 6 had no shelves or drawers to put your clothing. Only a small open in the wall to hang your clothing. They needed to fix the towel hanger in the bathroom which take 2 days.

- James (1/5): - Nothing Closed bar at 10.30pm when we got there got up and the breakfast was raw everything cooked in the microwave except the fried egg tea and coffee was frozen out of flasks manager didn't acknowledge us on the second night don't know if it was because we didn't go down for breakfast the second day had to go to Anstruther every morning for breakfast stay clear of this hotel no wardrobe in the room just a couple of metal stands to hang your clothes on my wife took the dust of the hot water maker that was in the room 560 pound for 3 night stay we should have stayed in the hostel in St Andrews

- Connie (6/5): Very disappointed with the new version of Balcombie. Considering the price of stay, it was not good value. - Liked the location. Very disappointed with the food. No-one in our party of 8 cleared their plates. Several plates were returned. Downstairs area was closed from 10am to 12.
- Marie (10/5): - Very tastefully decorated comfortable room, staff very friendly and breakfast was delicious...doesn't look much from the outside don't be put off. Lovely place to stay.
- O8707FKjacquis (8/5): - We stayed at the Balcomie Links Hotel last weekend and it did not disappoint. Scott was the host with the most and could not do enough for us. Breakfast was very well organised and our hot food was served very quickly after ordering. The Scottish breakfast was large, hot and very tasty, and definitely not for the faint hearted. For dinner we both had fish and chips with lovely crispy batter and again was served very quickly. The only downside in my opinion was the sparse furnishings in the room with no drawers or comfy chair. But overall a very pleasant stay.
- richard682020 (10/5): Cracking Quality Hotel - Manager/Staff are Excellent. - Myself and my wife were attending a Wedding at the nearby 'Cowshed', we stayed at this hotel from the Friday through to the Sunday. I will begin by saying this is a very competetively priced hotel - Food & Drink very reasonable. The food being of a very high standard - proper chef cooking the food and you know it. The Breakfasts are outstanding and you can basically eat as much as you want - whether from the Continental Buffet to the mighty Scottish Full Breakfast! Our room was spacious and very clean and the Bed/pillows were very comfortable. The Wifi is also very good! The Manager 'Scott' really made our stay special - this guy just bent over backwards to help with any of our requests - and he was super attentive with all the guests. Overall if your staying in the lovely quaint Crail then I would urge you to book here - you won't be dissappointed.
- Neil (7/5): - The staff were friendly, the place has had a makeover which is really nice. The breakfast was very nice. We booked a king suite , but there was a mix up. We got a twin room then changed to a double suite with a double bed. The room was large enough for a king. So we were quite squashed up.The shower has no door so when showering the bathroom floods, dispite trying our best not to do so. We thought it was over priced..

- Ronnie (8/5): Exceptionally clean and comfortable room with a busy restaurant serving ok food. - The bedroom was exceptionally clean with good facilities. Beds were very comfortable. We had dinner and choose the Wednesday evening fish tea special which was tasty and very good value for money. (A lot of other folks seem to also think so since the restaurant was very busy). The cooked breakfast was also very good. A good size car park and outdoor beer garden was also used and appreciated. Not many negatives to our stay at all. However, my wife would have liked a fresh fruit cocktail selection for breakfast and my initial selection for a dinner starter was unfortunately sold out (but these things can happen).

- Dee (7/5): It was ok - Bed very comfortable and nice view towards the sea over roof tops. Easy parking. Helpful regarding access to room early Not warned abt stairs and needed help. Fushia not cut back so dangerous exit onto road. No lounge. Limited place to hang clothes. Twin beds rather narrow for other occupants.

- Simet123 (6/5): A little bit of work could improve this hotel - This hotel was suggested to us as we attending a wedding . Firstly Scott the manager is fantastic and tries to do everything to help but there are some things he can’t help with . The hotel needs a facelift . The rooms are okay but they could do with some more furniture as there is only one chair to sit on so if you are traveling with another person there is nowhere to sit . Also there are now drawers to put clothes . This also goes for the hotel when the bar is shut there is nowhere for guests to sit no lounge so this is very restrictive . An area needs to be set aside for guests during the day . The plastic flowers need to go they look cheap and nasty so does the worn Astro turf in the front of the hotel . The grounds need to be cleared . This could be a great little place if these small things could be dealt with .
