Guest Reviews
- Julia (4/5): Great sleep but cannot recommend - Beds were wonderful, best 3 nights sleep for both of us No coat hangers
No serated bread knife
Outside private area very dirty, could not use
88yr old mother enjoyed but car was difficult to access as not on property
- Maya (8/5): Very good -
- Lorna (4/5): Good location, needing cleaned and refreshed - Central location, spacious Needing a deep clean. Porch smelly and dirty, cushions, blankets and bedding stained. Spare throws and decorative pillows all needing washed/refreshed. Only 1 bulb working in the bathroom. Sofa stained and needing wiped, cobwebs and dirty marks up the walls and ceiling. No alternative light to main ceiling light in the living room. Windows thick with dirt and dust.
- Evelyne (3/5): Apartment facilities were most disappointing, but out and about, Oban was perfect. - Location of apartment was perfect for walking into town Lack of bedding for sofabed. Soiled blankets and pillow were put into wardrobe in bedroom.
Wifi password on router was illegible, and no response to phonecall to host during stay.
Photos available.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - Just like a home from home everything there that you need Everything was great
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): Great place, loads of space, very clean and perfect location - Amazing location, very spacious and clean. Highly recommend
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Ed (9/5): One night in Oban - Very clean. Well maintained. Everything as described. Plenty of space. Ground floor access off street very convenient. Paying Street parking available and was easy for us. Couple of other options - paying and free nearby. Short walk to centre / quayside. Nothing really. Was great for a one night stopover before catching an early ferry. Outer door is a bit stiff and could do with a wee bit of attention. Maybe could get a few more wine glasses ?
- Debbie (5/5): Passable - The apartment is easy walking distance to Oban centre and seafront. It was clean, well heated, plenty of hot water and good wi fi. Communication from the owner was good. The kitchen has most things you'd need and the shower was good, however there were quite a few things that weren't. Firstly, the owner messaged me to say send him details of any issues rather than put them on a review, which seems a bit odd. I did message and thought I would get a response, but that didn't happen, so I am putting some of the things I mentioned on this review.
There isn't any onsite parking, it's £9 a day in a very small car park over the road or on street in the evening. The description mentions a bar, terrace, and a view. There is a pub next door, presently shut,an area outside the kitchen with dustbins or through a gate there is a patch of long grass up a flight of steps that has everyone's washing lines on it and is not somewhere we would want to sit, even if there were any seats up there, and the only view is the main road with a construction site opposite or the back of the building.
There is no bath, but the shower is good. The front bedroom has a pedestrian crossing outside, so we slept in the back. It was quiet but the mattress slopes into the centre of the bed and both rooms have problematic furniture which has seen better days as some of the drawers are falling apart.
The toilet seat is falling off, the coffee table in the lounge is only partly attached to its legs, there are no instructions regarding things like dustbin collection and consequently the bins were full.
There didn't appear to be a DVD or CD player in the apartment either.
So, I guess for the price we shouldn't have expected too much but we did expect that which was mentioned in the description of the property.
- Archie (9/5): Superb - Loved the location in the town centre. The flat was modern, well furnished and easy to access Parking is always an issue in Oban, luckily we were advised where to park for free, which was a five min walk away.
- Pavlo (9/5): Superb -
- Allyson (8/5): Oban family trip - space, distance to town, well stocked kitchen, communication with host living room could have down with side lights and maybe some wee tables for our drinks.
- Dillard (7/5): Good -
- Lynsey (8/5): Lovely stay in Oban - We were a family party of 5 ages ranging from age 11 to 81 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Apartment is very spacious and well equipped. Fab big kitchen with everything you need. Rooms big and cosy. Great location to town centre. Communication with owner was great. Would stay again if returning to Oban. A couple of small wear and tear issues, loose toilet seat and shower handset bracket but nothing that would stop us from staying here again
- Insiya (6/5): The place is decent, kitchen well equipped but needs some serious cleaning of the sofa bed, washing machine and living b - We had booked for 5 people. One bed was listed as a sofa bed. The condition of the sofa bed was really bad. Dirty, covered with pet and human hair. I called and msged Charlie and sent him the video of the condition of the sofa bed. Plus no bedsheet or pillows to put on it. 3 of us had to squeeze onto 1 bed. We checked in at 6, and were tired and needed a clean beds; it was so upsetting. Didn’t hear back from Charlie until almost 6 hours later, when we were asleep. Charlie did apologise and asked to call when we were up. He said he did not respond back in time as he was on a different Timezone! Properties should not be let out if there’s no one to respond in time to queries or situations like this! This may have been a one off for this property but it was a very upsetting experience for us.
The rug in the living room was also gross. And so was the washing machine that had a thick black mould lining all around the rim.
Couldn’t attach the video of the sofabed, can send it on email if needed.
- Alan (10/5): A really lovely time, thank you - Great layout, absolutely immaculate. Very comfortable.
Host was very helpful and gave access to discounts locally. Na
- Lesley (8/5): Very good - Lovely big, bright and spacious rooms.
Owner remedied issue with kitchen flooring very quickly Bathroom mould
- Steve (8/5): Handy to town spot - The owner was attentive to the problems we had. No heating was an issue on the first night, and he fixed this. It is a fairly worn property ,but good value. Hard for parking our car.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Great location and great accommodation
- Kerry-caress (5/5): Meh - The spacious lounge and kitchen and the shower The fact that the shower was freezing cold and it wouldn’t work to have a shower n I was dying for one as well, shame cuz it would have been fine otherwise, I don’t understand how the shower wasn’t set up to go a normal temperature before I arrived. I couldn’t actually believe it tbh. It was nearly 100 pounds and all I wanted was a shower before I headed home on the ferry, had to make use of the hot water Iin the early hours luckily it was warm then but it’s not good paying that and not having the most important facility , coffee machine doesn’t work the pods weren’t the right size or brand and there wasn’t a single biscuit n I was starving no uhi milk either. Disappointing. I ran a b&b before with my parents and that’s unacceptable tbh.
- Scott (9/5): Superb - Great location, kept well informed about key pad n gaining access to property, all in all had great stay
- Karen (10/5): Excellent Apartment 10 out of 10 - The apartment is beautiful, location was fabulous
- Michelle (8/5): Really convenient location. Everything we needed for a short stay for the National Mod. -
- Susan (10/5): Lovely stay - The apartment was very cosy, spacious and really close to the centre. I accidentally left a couple of items which the owner/manager was kind enough to return to me. Very much appreciated. Nothing really- if I were being really picky, apart from a few cosmetic things, I don't particularly like windows where you can't close a curtain or blind when its dark so wasn't keen on the kitchen window but that's more my issue than anything else!
- David (9/5): Excellent location very spacious and high levels of cleanliness. Would stay again & highly recommend -
- Brady (9/5): nice stay in OBAN.. - location,, brilliant value for money,,warm,,, homely feel.,,teabags and coffee really appreciated 👍,, close to Handy supermarkets,,would definitely stay again IF available when we are moving house to the area.... toilet seat needs attention,,, but the owners wouldn't know about it unless it's mentioned 🙂
- Louise (7/5): Good - Great kitchen, though, laking basic supplies - sauces, tin foil, cleaning cloths. Loose front door fittings on lock, no curtain behind front door as loss of heat incredible, plus lack of security as disturbed by people coming in through storm door...
Living room fire gives no heat, radiators set so low that basically ineffectual..
Beds need new mattresses as roll together, not always wanted..
No local information leaflets supplied - unusual as owner claims to offer tour guides of local area???
Living room coffee table unsafe as legs not attached to glass top... accident waiting to happen with hard wood floors..
Towel rail not working - no heat...
Other than that, all great ...
- Derek (10/5): Exactly what we wanted - Clean, comfortable and convenient for the historic centre
- John (10/5): Great value apartment - Very good value spacious apartment near the centre of Oban. Very clean and comfortable, fully equipped kitchen, two large bedrooms, great location. Perfect for a family or a group of friends.
- Andy (7/5): Good -
- Roselyne (7/5): The host was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble - The location was central There could have been a blind fitted in the front bedroom and better fitted curtains . Just for that bit more privacy
- Charles (10/5): Excellent clean apartment - Excellent facilities and furnishings decent sized kitchen very central for everything we love about Oban. The furniture in front bedroom very similar to what I have at home as such it was very homely for us
We had excellent day in Tobermory as per photos I have nothing to add
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Javiera (8/5): very good. Good value for money - It was a really nice and comfortable place. Warm and cozy There was someone knocking at 10 am sharp to leave the place. To early for checkout time
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - As described. Contact with Appartment was great, with clear instructions on parking and entry to property. Excellent situation, waking distance to town, eateries and harbour. Didn't appear to be extra linen for pull out bed in lounge.
- Patricia (1/5): Sub standard for booking.com - Near bus station is good. Everyrhing else.
Badly furnished. Old. Worn.ugly.
Door to street hard to open and close. Very old mechanism.
Old thin towels.
New bathroom does not make up for the rest of the furnishings.
- Michelle (10/5): Great stay in Central Oban. - Central location - few minutes walk to the town centre. Large bedrooms, lounge and kitchen. Comfy beds. Ground floor, 3 steps up from the street. Brilliant place to stay. Quite difficult to find, no sign on the door. No parking on site unless happens to be an empty spot in front of the house. Paid parking area literally across the road, with free parking over night. Would suggest going straight to the parking area. Don't let this put you off from staying here !
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Great stay central
- Neal (7/5): Good - Location, though on a busy street.
Great kitchen facilities, we'll equipped
Cleanliness
Very helpful owner Bed old and squeaky, though comfortable enough.
- Laetitia (10/5): Oban is a great place to visit and this was the perfect base - Location
- J (8/5): Very good - Good location, generally spacious property, good instructions to find the property.
- Joy (8/5): Comfortable place to stay in Oban - Location good, close to city centre. We needed a place that was pet friendly so that narrowed our choices, this place fit that criteria. Very clean. Good communication with the owner. Bedrooms were comfortable Just be aware that if you bring a pet you may have to pay a bit more.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was lovely spacious and was great for going in to town would go back
- Gail (7/5): Good -
- Audrey (10/5): business meeting overnight stay - spacious, quiet, clean, convenient location only overhead light in living room
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Floor in the kitchen had major buckling a trip hazard. They needed to leave a booklet or something with directions with the Wi-Fi passcode and everything felt like we had to text. Wait for answers. We never got the pre-instructions before we got there. That was a hassle.
- D'arcy (10/5): Extremely lovely and very reasonable - Very spacious On main road
- Suzanne (1/5): Customer care Zero - Unfortunately didn't get to stay in the apartment due to road closures surrounding the area because of an accident. The owner didn't care about our distress being stuck in traffic and gridlock in the town for hours. Refused to even give a part refund. Very uncaring indeed with no customer care. Eventually managed to secure other accommodation outside the town after hours trying to access alternative routes at more cost.
- Veronica (8/5): Very good -
- Ellis (8/5): Very good - Very spacious and well equipped. No coffee pods provided for Nespresso machine. Wouldn't be a problem if you could purchase them from shops, but you can't!
Very small issue.
- Jan (9/5): Superb - This apartment provided excellent accommodation for our group of four. The beds were comfortable (one person slept on the livingroom couch). It was nice to have a fully equipped kitchen to make some of our own meals, and then to sit back and watch a bit of tv late in the evening – a homey, relaxing break during our busy vacation. We had been sent helpful tips on parking and there was a pay parking lot nearly right across the street (£10/24 hr), though we were just lucky to have gotten the last available spot. The only problem we had was with the back bedroom remaining very, very cold, despite having turned the heat on in the apartment during a chilly spell.
- Alison (7/5): It was fit for purpose -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (5/5): Poor - In the centre of oban perfect location Internal doors were broken the vinyl in the kitchen was was rumpled which was a trip hazard we messaged the owner no reply also Wi-Fi code you could not read it. Bathroom shower was leaking. The property could do with a complete revamp
- Geoff (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect Unfortunately we didn't find the bed for the child till we were leaving checking under beds etc. Also daily parking is not £4.00 anymore it's£9.00 for all day
- Antoinette (10/5): Fantastic and great deal - Loved this place! Fabulous location and great shower. Comfortable sofas.
- Mark (9/5): Superb - The apartment was surprisingly spacious and extremely clean. Everything was made available, towels, cleaning materials, coffee, tea etc it was all there. You really dont need to take anything with you. I honestly didnt have any complaints.
- James (4/5): - Floors squeaked with every step. WiFi was only pay for city service. Kitchen floor had buckle d vinyl. Dishwasher would not open fully due to baseboard. No instructions for parking or equipment in flat, such as washer, Tzv, available overnight
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - All on one level
- Aileen (10/5): Exceptional - Warm and spacious. Comfortable. Central, and surprisingly quiet. Nothing.
- Steve (9/5): Brilliant - Great location with plenty of comforts It was all good
- Carla (8/5): An enjoyable stay well located, we recommend. - Nice flat, the owner answered quickly by text when we needed it. A few heating problems and some weak amenities but nothing serious.
- Louise (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - Property very clean and comfortable with everything you need for your stay. And the location is very close to town and harbour no need to use the car. All communication from the host was prompt and detailed making finding parking and using the facilities absolutely perfect. Would absolutely 💯 % recommend this host. Would have liked lamps in the sitting room but that’s a minor detail.
- Robert (10/5): Would definitely stay again - Didn’t have breakfast but everything was there, I couldn’t get connected to the internet and had to buy it from Ee at a cost of £ 38
- Thomas (9/5): We have stayed here before and once again we were happy with our stay. Great apartment and location - Not applicable No negative issues
- Amanda (10/5): Home from Home - Location was great. Close to centre and supermarket Nothing.
- Ryan (8/5): Lovely Stay - comfy beds, easy to get keys and nice facilities next door pub had loud music on until late on Sunday evening and at times people hanging about outside front of thw property, smoking and chatting loudly but no other issues
- Lisa (5/5): Big spacious clean ok for 1 maybe 2 nights - Big property nice bathroom and big kitchen with a table and chairs plenty of space . Location was close to a pub so bit noisy at night if you slept on the front
Parking is a problem unless you get there at 4pm then you can pay for 2 hours and stay till 9am . Not great if you have a dog as there’s no grass area had to walk to the cemetery up the road where there’s some grass there is a very small patio area at the back of property if your dog doesn’t mind going toilet on slabs .
- Fen (7/5): Good - the flat was great, comfortable and well equipped very noisy pubs outside
- Thomas (4/5): Very disappointed in the cleanliness - It was easy to enter the apartment with the lock box, meaning we didn't need to carry the key with us. Very disappointed with the cleanliness of this apartment.
When we entered, the place had a very strong smell of smoke (both of us are non-smokers and specifically choose places where 'non-smoking' is stated).
There were what looked like blood stains on the dining chair covers in the kitchen, a crack in the livingroom door and the shower looked in unclean (photos attached).
There was a layer of dust on the floor and we did not want to put our crawling baby down on the floor as it was so unclean (the photo doesn't show how dirty it was).
We never used the livingroom as the smell of smoke was so strong. The apartment is next door to a loud pub where music could be heard until the early hours. The pub goers must also stand right at the apartment doorway and windows while having a smoke, and this may be the reason why the whole apartment had a strong smell.
We felt very uncomfortable in the apartment and didn't want to spend any more time there than we had to. It did not have a nice feel overall.
We were booked (and paid for) 2 nights, however it felt so unclean that a family member close by offered us to sleep on their livingroom floor, so we took them up on the offer (said family member helped pack up our stuff and agreed that the apartments cleanliness was not good).
- Mia (10/5): Exceptional - Right in the heart of Oban close to everything you could need. Lots of space, great big hot shower, warm rooms.
- Stephen (7/5): Great stay great location - Great location , nice spacious apartment just a little noisy being next to a pub and main road , but we moved into the back room and it was fine
- Jenbul (1/5): Very Disappointed - Updated shower. Convenient to bay area 1. Pictures do not accurately show the current conditions of this apartment.
2. Blood stain mattress protector found in 1 of the bedrooms (have picture) to make the sofa bed, so slept on sofa only with what we hoped were clean linens in kitchen cupboards
3. Huge spider on ceiling in kitchen, we killed with the mop and left by the back door. Area trim around the back door covered in cob webbs, spider egg cocoons, and filth.
If wiped down, possibly spiders wouldn't get it. We have a picture of the spider. And yes, it was alive.
4. Chairs in the kitchen stained with blood and food. We have pictures. Heat register by kitchen table filthy like chair covers but also dirty on top of various stains. Kitchen flooring rippled, and some areas were soft.
5. Advertised soundproofing - with windows closed and drapes pulled closed, we could hear people out front and out back and above us.
6. The bathroom wall heater for towels didn't work.
7. Both bedroom cupboards/ dressers are broken ( have pictures, but only 4 can be posted). Beds both sag, so rolled to middle.
8. Kettle was filled last night with water for tea in the morning. We woke to a wet kitchen floor. So kettle leaks. One of the French press carafes is cracked, as I poured water in it to clean, and that too, spilled out over counter. The black one, not copper one.
9. Even tho the shower has new shower heads, around the edges are mold and dirty.
10. Advertised parking: I was sent a map a couple of streets away from the unit
for possible parking. Advertised no reservation required, leading us to believe we had a space to park for the advertised 4 pounds per day.
This was not a good way to end our last night in Scotland.
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Apartment was ideal for our 1 night stay in Oban. Location perfect . Everything we needed.
Accommodation was spotless. Information on how to check in was very clear. Also was able to check in earlier which was very useful. Nothing I can say I didn't like. It was located on a fairly busy road but to be in a central location that was to be expected .
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (7/5): Good -
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Great apartment.. would recommend. - Great apartment with everything you could possibly need, nice decor, lovely bathroom, big beds.. fantastic location No heating! Weather was horrendous and we still tried to get out and about, but to come home with wet clothes and a wet dog with no means to warm up and get dry was as a challenge. Owner did pop round but it wasnt sorted, he told us on last day we could use the tumble dryer but don’t think Ronny ( the dog) would have enjoyed that.
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (3/5): Poor - Noise from road, pub next door and upstairs neighbour. Front door would not close, pillows on bed were hard. Place could do with some TLC. TV was very small, no bread knife
- Kinga (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Nice clean and tidy. Central location great and handy supermarket on the door step.
- Julie (8/5): Great location for ferry, restaurants & grocery stores - Location, well appointed and quite spacious On a busy road so could hear cars going past up till around midnight.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Rose (3/5): Fine but would not stay again especially for the price we paid - Very kind messages from host; easy to find and had the basics - was nice to have tea and coffee there. Comfortable beds and hot shower Front room is noisy on the road; the kitchen cupboards were full of random stuff like old socks and takeaway menus and old glasses. The panel on the kitchen wall covering the boiler fell off; it was quite dated
- David (10/5): Lovely apartment in a great location. - Spacious and comfortable in a great location - loved the shower! Excellent communication from host in the lead up to our stay. A local info pack would have been nice, one of us knew the town so not a problem but others may appreciate the extra help.
- Frank (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends or book again - Excellent location for what we were doing. House was excellent and all arrangements very easy. Nothing
- Elizabeth (7/5): Short break in Oban - Central location. Very spacious. Had everything we needed. Proximity to ferry port. Supermarkets nearby. Lack of parking.
- Sheena (8/5): the flat was just what we needed for our 2 night stay - loved the big kitchen

- Karen (9/5): Lovely spacious flat with everything required for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Oban! -
- Andy (4/5): Could be better - Great location, great communication wirh owner Smell of dampness around property, dirty rug in sitting room, dirty seat covers in kitchen, bedding in both rooms overpowered by smell of dettol, towels had smell of dampness and no parking at property. Surcharge for 2 more guests and dogs.
