- Mike (8/5): - The property is a little dated in some areas like the hallways and dining areas, but the staff could not have been more supportive. The breakfast was a great bonus- classic Icelandic spread. Good place to stay on the peninsula
- barbaral280 (4/5): Hot and stuffy in the summer - The food is very good. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable enough, though the linens are a bit scratchy. The bathrooms are adequate but tiny. Our main complaint was that the rooms are stuffy and hot--almost no air flow--so in the summer months you can't close the blinds or you'll lose what little air is available. Slept terribly as a result. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. And don't expect coffee except with the breakfast buffet, which doesn't begin until 7 and only includes cold food. A real disappointment.

Cons: * Location: not convenient with 1 or 2 restaurants nearby, no kiosk or supermarket * Room size is small * Shower: tiny space and the bath curtain will stick the body when shower * no water kettle in the room, but you can get very hot water a few steps up from the reception Pros: * Staff: friendly reception * Shower: strong hot water

- lindyp330 (6/5): A comfortable bed - The hotel is well positioned in Borgarnes for visiting the town. It's an easy stroll to a walking path beside the beach. The room was comfortable but had no kettle for tea or coffee. There's a large hot water container available on the 1st floor but no cups.

- IreneT2215 (10/5): comfortable room, good breakfast - I stayed here for one night as part of an organized tour. The room was clean, the Wi-Fi was strong, and the bed was comfortable. There was no kettle in the room, so I had to go downstairs to the dining hall to get hot water from the water dispenser. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was decent. Overall, everything was ok.

No kettle or fridge in the room however there is an urn of hot water available on the first floor outside the restaurant. Hotel is close to the beach so good area to check out the northern lights.
- robertp558 (10/5): The New Hotel Vesturland in Borgarnes - The hotel reopened in early March 2024 as Hotel Vesturland with new owners. We stayed there for two nights as part of our 6-day Iceland tour with Trafalgar Tours. The staff could not have been nicer. Food in the attached restaurant was excellent, the staff was friendly and concerned to be certain that everything was just right for us. The room was comfortable, with plenty of pillows and towels. The hotel itself doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside and room decor are lovely. There's a minimalist aesthetic in Iceland, very much the spare Nordic style, but done with first rate materials and serious attention to design and function. If you go to the Borgarnes area of Iceland, it's well worth staying here.
- Steveh3Texas (8/5): Ok for 2 nights - Hotel is in the center of town. Easy walk to water’s edge and some restaurants. This was our final hotel on our tour-operated Rim Road road trip. I don’t know what was paid. We stayed here 2 nights and our room was very small, even by Icelandic standards. Bathroom and shower were one tiny room. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Free breakfast was the usual Continental spread. All ok.
- EmeraldDiva (6/5): Mixed bag - This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. The double room was a bit outdated but perfectly fine, a good size and clean. The bathroom was small and had a strange shower with concertina doors that did not work well and could lead to a very wet floor. As a solo traveler though, it was all fine. The dinner in the restaurant was just okay, not bad but not wonderful either. Breakfast was in a HUGE room with large circular tables, quite unusual. However the breakfast spread was very limited and uninspiring with no hot food at all.
- jensK7737NB (8/5): Nice stay - Comfortable stay in a rustic and eclectic setting. Room was comfortable but limited amenities. Staff was very friendly and it was fun interacting with dogs at hotel. Enjoyed the outdoor hot tub after a day of hiking. Dinner was great and breakfast fine.

- Vincent (10/5): Nice large hotel - This is a very nice large hotel that can host bus groups. Very clean and high standards. We ate dinner at another restaurant so do not know how crowded the dining room was. At breakfast, there were a lot of people but they had enough sitting as they opened up a separate room. I would stay here again.

- Hunstow (8/5): Nice room - The hotel is popular with tour groups. Good size room with decent storage, small table & 2 chairs, large TV with UK channels. No fridge or tea & coffee facilities. Good size bathroom with basic amenities. Our room was on street level so anyone walking by could look in. Thankfully the street is bereft of foot traffic. Major gripe was the 4 separate curtains you need to manoeuvre to cover your window. It was nearly impossible to stretch them to keep the light out through the night. Whoever designed this instead of one or 2 curtains is an idiot! Other gripe was with the housekeeper. Clearly the cleaner failed to enter the bathroom and just straightened the bed and left. Breakfast was ok but lacked any hot food preparation. Overall it was a nice room with a few issues.

- 758martynl (6/5): 60s throw back themed hotel with great food - The town itself is quaint but small. The hotel was a throw back to the 60s and has had very little done to update it. It has a small bar and an outdated restaurant the size of a ballroom. Would be great as a film set in an 60s themed film. The bedroom was clean and in furnished in the same genre. The evening meal and buffet breakfast was first class and it's well worth a visit just for the food.
- zen_lwz (8/5): Nice place - Nice and cozy hotel. Check-in is fast. Location is convenient and near to restaurants, with lots of parking available. There is also a restaurant within the hotel where pre-reservation is needed. Good choice especially during low period where some restaurants are not opened. Room is decently big and comfortable. Food served at breakfast are slightly different from others. Love the herring. :)
- Toffe76 (4/5): Disappointing - This was booked through an agent , and this was our last stop off before heading back to Reykjavik. It was very disappointing. The man who greeted us made us feel like an inconvenience. He wasn’t very helpful and we felt he was unapproachable. The rooms are ok , but no tea or coffee facilities in the room . No bar in the hotel . The hotel seems very outdated and is need of some TLC . There is a little bar down the road , the man in there was lovely . He serves food , we didn’t eat but it looked nice .

Pros: We saw northern light near the sea - short walk down from the hotel The fish & molten chocolate cake served in the restaurant for dinner is delicious! The room is clean Cons: The room look like it’s back in the 70s or 80s decor You have to collect extra shampoo / body wash from the reception yourself as I believe they are short handed. The same person who served us at the reception also served at the restaurant during dinner. We were allocated room with window that faced a carpark and is unable to get one with better view cause they are full.

- JenC654 (2/5): Doesnt get much worse - A room below ground level with street level windows looking in from 2 sides. No fridge, no kettle, grumpy man at reception. Make sure your room isnt 109 (circled in pic)! We were part of a group tour so didnt have much choice, but seriously would have liked to have just left and paid for somewhere else.
- FrancesO195 (10/5): Great stay in Borgarnes - We stayed here for two nights on our trip. They had upgraded us to a one bedroom suite across the street complete with a kitchen. It was very spacious, clean & comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food available including fresh fruit. When we left, I had accidentally left my medications behind, one of the employees went above & beyond trying to reach me. I drove back later that day. He had refrigerated my insulin for me, a very thoughtful and much appreciated gesture.

- André (10/5): Nice hotel with large triple room - A nice regular hotel which isn't always the norm in Iceland. We booked a triple room and it was the largest room in our trip. Very ample. The bathroom wasn't the biggest but no issue. There weren't a lot of apparent restaurants in the area. So tired at the end of the day we just eat at the hotel. The meal at the restaurant was nice (and expensive as per Iceland) and so was the breakfast buffet. Key drop-off check out. So no time waste. Overall a very pleasant experience as it appeared we were one of the few guests staying at the hotel at the time can't talk about how it would work in busier non-covid times.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - We stayed in Hotel Borgarnes on the way back after a week on the Ring Road. We got there a little before 7pm and there was no receptionist. I rang the bell and 3 minutes later, a guy came to check us in. He seemed unsure whether we had paid online ir not. He gave me the key but wasn't sure which way the room was, and had to go check. He the said he wasn't the receptionist, but works at the restaudant. The room itself ended up being in a building across from the hotel, which is also an apartment. It was not cleaned verh well. I was excited to see shampoo at a hotel in Iceland, until I turned over the bottle and saw a piece of hair stuck on it. Breakfast was ok. No hot foods. Town has little to offer, except it was convenient to go to Snaefellsnes.

Absolutely hated the small sink with a glass counter above it - can't even wash your face without spilling water all over. Breakfast was good. The local pool is in walking distance and worth paying a visit.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good breakfast buffet, excellent location in downtown Borgarnes--we walked down to the nearby black sand beach for sunset, and had a wonderful meal at the Kaffi Kyrrd down the street (adorable shop, and great paninis!). The hotel check in was easy and the room was clean and comfortable. We would stay there again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent Place For One Night - This place was decent for the price. It could use some updating, but other than that it was nice. The room was big, so that made it better. The location was okay. Nice views at the end of the peninsula, but not much other than that. Also, everything closes early, so get here before 7:00 pm so you can find a decent meal. Otherwise, you'll be stuck at the gas stations eating sandwiches and hot dogs.
