Guest Reviews

Colazione ottima. Non riesco a trovare difetti

- Giuseppe (8/5): direi discreto/buono - buona/ottima purtroppo il ristorante era in manutenzione.....
- David (8/5): Comfortable and different. - The eccentricity. It's full of railway (Ferrovia) memorabilia. And we loved the tortoises and three friendly cats. Good restaurant downstairs with grand pizzas.
All staff were helpful..
Pool is very clean. No lift. As we are a bit elderly difficult to get bags upstairs but of course we were given a helping hand.

- Andrew (9/5): Great Stay at La Macchia - Lovely stay at La Macchia, the staff were friendly and accommodating.
We really enjoyed the Breakfast. N/A
- Corey (10/5): A nice secluded place with a very friendly and helpful staff. - They breakfast was fine, but the choices could have been better. Also, there wasn't someone coming in to check the food or what I needed very often. I had to wait for someone to get my coffee which took over 15 mintues. The BEST part of about this place is they are very nice and accommodating. The lady at the front desk gave me a ride to the train station, no charge. THAT is EXCEEDING expectations. What a nice place, and I would recommend them for sure. Not much, they were pretty terrific overall.
- Damir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (8/5): Hotel surrounded by olive trees, owned and managed by a nice family. - Nice hotel owned and managed by a family. Located a few minutes from Spoleto Center. Nice swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. In the property they have some sheep, turtles, a donkey and two cute rescued cats. Every member of the family was really friendly. Breakfast was good.
- Roberto (7/5): Good - Just outside Spoleto, easy to reach
- Anna (10/5): Highly recommend this place . Very nice restaurant available at the location - Great location , wonderful hosts , nice breakfast.
- Piccolo (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Relaxing and comfortable stay in a peaceful location. - The family who run La Macchia are charming and very helpful.
The breakfast was very good, and served in a peaceful room with garden view.
The pool was large and well provided with recliners and parasols - and we were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves for most of the 5 days that we stayed!
It is possible to walk to Spoleto along a disused railway line (warning: the initial ascent to the trackbed is very steep!). Nothing at all! (Minor point: the bed was very hard for us, but obviously a matter of personal taste!).
- Alison (8/5): Railway-themed Spoleto B&B - A comfortable room in small B&B just outside Spoleto. The owners are into trains and both the restaurant downstairs and the breakfast room are full of railway memorabilia, commememorating a local mountain line that was closed in the 1960s. The breakfast tables are even designed like railway carriages with luggage racks above. The pool looked lovely but unfortunately we didn't have time to use it. After we checked out, the lady and her husband kindly spent some while with us helping us pay a (we felt undeserved) parking fine - grazie mille! Nothing negative to report.
- Heather (9/5): Relaxing base - quiet location with lovely pool for hot weather
comfortable beds and helpful staff
Direct access to Spoleto-Norcia walking track room was small with no sitting area ( larger room was offered but had only highlight windows so no outlook)
- Joe (10/5): The most perfect hotel! - The most amazing hotel. Surrounded by an oak forest and olive trees, the most beautiful pool has lots of sun and shade. It is so peaceful with just the sounds of bird songs.
The wonderful staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, they did so much to make our stay so pleasant.
Our room was perfectly clean and very modern. Great shower, big comfortable bed. Everything immaculate.
We also had a fantastic dinner in the busy restaurant surrounded by locals all coming for the excellent food. The only negative was that we had to eventually leave.
- Antonios (9/5): Superb - Beautiful grounds, surrounded by nature. The on-site restaurant has wonderful selection of local dishes. Personnel very polite. That we had to leave
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (7/5): Old style comfort and hospitality - Breakfast was excellent
Bed very comfy
Staff friendly The grounds were a little run down, need to make look a bit smarter
Shower very small and hair dryer old style and not effective
- Greg (5/5): Passable - Breakfast just okay The hundreds of bees swarming the pool deck made it impossible to access the water.
- John (10/5): Beautiful location and attentive staff; excellent value - This is a lovely place with wonderful and attentive staff who go out of their way to meet every need. It has been in the same family for forty years and their dedication really shows. We loved the location — while Spoleto is full of things to do and see, try to make time to spend an afternoon sitting by the pool looking up into the olive grove (where you might catch a glimpse of the donkey!) It is so peaceful and very walkable 1.5 miles to the train station (although I would not walk in the dark because the last part does not have sidewalks).
During our stay, we were the only English-speaking guests but the menus were in English and Roberta is fluent in English (and kind despite our terrible attempts at Italian).
Each morning there is a bountiful and free breakfast, complete with meats, cheese, yogurt and a totally-worth-the-calories HOMEMADE cake. Also any kind of coffee drink made to order. We also thought the restaurant for dinner was very good and extremely reasonably priced.
Our room had AC and was VERY clean.
I would say this was an exceptional value — 5 nights plus 5 breakfasts and three dinners cost only 641 euros. We found La Macchia a good base for exploring Spoleto and the following towns.
- Reginald (8/5): Very enjoyable stay - Roberta was extremely helpful and kind. The location was very peaceful. Due to its location a car is needed to visit the towns nearby. The pool area could be made to be more
comfortable.
- Giangaspero (10/5): Lovely place, lovely people - Lovely place managed by lovely people. The hotel is in the middle of a forest quiet, nice air. Good stay!
I do highly recommend
- Roberta (8/5): Very good -
- Roberta (10/5): Exceptional - Location e arredamento
