Everything is thoughtfully organized, from the food storage to the kitchen, which even has towels available to dry the dishes. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 There are great spots to meet people and socialize, as well as quieter spaces if you prefer some time to yourself. Whether you're extroverted or introverted, you'll love this place. A special thank you to Ashley, Dominique, Rose, and Dan, who I interacted with the most, for being so friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Thanks so much! ❤️

• Amelia (9/5): Nice and comfortable place to stay - This is the first time I like a lot of stuff in a hostel Price and quality, location, space in the rooms, staff was nice. Enough accessories in the kitchen. The front yard was cool. Good quality of the sheets and pillows case.i will definitely come back here . I really enjoyed the place and the people staying were nice and respectful I think the cleaning could be better in the single bathrooms. It wasn't badly dirty but maybe vacuum is a good way to get rid of the daily dust as hair and paper around. On the other hand the client also is responsible for grabbing their own hair and putting it in the bin. I also understand they just close the kitchen at midday for about one hour, so the kitchen was open even at night so people who used the kitchen very late weren't able to clean up their own mess so early in the morning the table was dirty,I think this is not a whole hostel problem, is a problem of people who still don't get they are sharing a space . Maybe a good idea to let some cleaning cloth around to clean up the surfaces, I'll be happy to use it if they were available . Despite all this, I still think the place was good enough to stay there again :)

• Bridget (1/5): Dirty Dump! - The outside facade! This was one of the worst hostels ever, It felt more like a shelter. Booked to stay 3 night only stayed 1 night. The paid employees were lovely, the volunteers treat the place like garbage. The hostel needs a overall, it isn't maintained. Only the exterior is maintained. Broken sink with a black garbage bag wrapped over it. No full privacy curtain around the beds. You turn over or look up you are looking at someones butt or bed with garbage all over it. Half the rooms are occupied by volunteers who receive prime access to the best beds guest get what's leftover. They added an extra bed in the 6 bed dorm making it 7 beds and the extra has no curtain. The volunteers stuff is everywhere. Checked behind the bed for my sock there was so much garbage behind the bed. It's no wonder I could not breath. Took pictures

• Mary (7/5): An affordable and fun place to stay in Melbourne. - - Location was good with multiple public transport services available nearby. - Keycard access only for the bedroom & bathroom. - Working kitchen & fridge access available if necessary. - Opportunities for socialising. - Could be quite noisy at night but I understand that it comes with being so close to a hospital. - The curtains attached to the bed weren't long enough and provided very little by the way of privacy. - The ladder for the top bunk isn't spaced safely and it was a struggle getting in and out of the bed. - It would have been better if the floors were dedicated via gender because it was very off-putting seeing someone of the opposite on the same floor late at night. - Luggage storage facilities for smaller-medium sized bags because leaving them in the corner of the lobby isn't very safe.

Hostel je u velice rušné cesty, opravdu doporučuji si vzit dobré špunty do uší.

• Besa (8/5): - Sehr nettes Personal, sehr schöne und saubere Küche und Badezimmer! Der Garten war fantastisch! Es gab keinen wirklichen Gemeinschaftsraum und es war schwierig einen ruhigen Platz zu finden um zu telefonieren. Leider wurde der Garten relativ früh schon abgeschlossen, der Barbetrieb war nur Donnerstags und Freitags. Die Betten waren auch schrecklich! Ein absolutes Wackelgestell, grade wenn man das obere Bett hatte! Es fühlte sich an als wäre man auf einem Schiff, wenn die Person unter mir sich bewegte.

• Werner (10/5): Ideales Hostel in einer wunderschönen Weltstadt für Junge und jung gebliebene (Rentner) - Ein Hostel, wie ich es mir in einer Weltstadt nur vorstellen kann. Die Bereiche der Kommunikation unter den Gästen inclusive der Servicemitarbeiter über Gott, die Welt, Jobs und Reisen usw., die zum grossen Teil selbst Gäste waren, fand hauptsächluch an den großen Tischen in der Küche, der Reception aber auch draussen Donnerstags und Freitags im geöffneten Barbereich oder der Wiese mit Liegestühlen statt. Aber auch die, die sich zurückziehen wollten, hatten Bereiche wie PC Tische für sich. Dort hat man auch kurze Wege, da am Rand der Circle City von Melbourne unweit von Bus Bahn und Train gelegen. Das Servicepersonal war äußerst freundluch. Die Organisation im Küchenbereich war klar und verhindert sinnloses Wegwerfen von Food. Jeder hatte Platz für sein gekühltes und ungekühltes Food. Auch gab es genug Pfannen, Töpfe sowie Kochstellen. Rauchen und Alkohol waren im Innenbereich strikt verboten. Die Toiletten waren sauber und hatten ausreichend Plätze. Im Zimmer war für alle ein Platz für abschließbare Boxen ca 40x40x50cm tief. Es war laut, wenn die Fenster offen waren, doch wer rechnet in so einer Stadt mit Ruhe in der Nacht. Die Verschluss Scharniere der Fenster waren in meinem Zimmer reparaturbedürftig. Zunächst nicht gefallen hat, dass die Ausstattung im Zimmer ohne Tisch und Stühle waren, doch gleichzeitig war es ein Vorteil, denn so fand dort nur Schlafen und Lagern der persönlichen Sachen statt. Die Türen der Zimmer und WC könnten sich sicher leiser schließen lassen, wenn sie mit entsprechenden Dämpfern nachgerüstet werden. Meine Lösung für solche nächtliche Störungen, selbst spät ins Bett gehen.

• Sue (9/5): For budget accommodation, it is real value for money, centrally located & absolutely fabulous staff - Initially I was unaware that I had booked a room at a backpacker establishment. I did have concerns about my mobility and being able to get up the stairs to the room, however the staff were sensational. They were so caring and helpful, and it made my stay a real delight. It is rare you get such lovely and genuine staff looking after you these days, so it was like a breath of fresh air and I was really happy I stayed at The Mansion. They are beautiful people and thanks for taking care of me. The stairs and shard bathroom due to my physical limitations.

• Emerald Hieu (7/5): Comfortable Stay, but Kitchen Needs Improvement - The bed was comfortable, and the staff were supportive and helpful throughout my stay. The laundry powder tray was broken, which was inconvenient. The kitchen feels overcrowded and too small for the number of guests staying at the hostel. At times, it seemed like it was taken over by a group of friends, making it difficult to walk through or use the space comfortably. The overall vibe wasn't particularly lively.

Felt like I had vertigo as the whole building felt uneven. Not very many bathroom/shower facilities - and temperature from shower would fluctuate. Not fully private between beds. Very small lockers cannot even fit a backpack. Bunk beds made loud noise and moved around a lot when shifting position and climbing onto top bunk. Very small kitchen and crammed food storage space. No “quiet zone” to chill out in.

• Daniela (8/5): - In general the hostel is very clean. Toilets, showers, rooms, kitchen, and the fridges to store food. They give you two plastic bags with your name on it to store food, I loved that. There is also enough space to store food outside the fridge. You will have your own basket. I also love that the kitchen has an induction cooktop. Ladies and gentlemen showers 🚿 separated. Tables around to study or work and the Wifi worka pretty well. The staff is very friendly and easygoing. They have connection, lamb, and a little rack for storage next to each bed 🛌 that's amazing, very handy. Sometimes it can get very hot in the rooms and there is no air-conditioning. There are fans, which helps. I find it very expensive for what it is, but I also understand Melb/ aussie prices.

• Piper (7/5): Helped me get out of my comfort zone - great people, good location. - People here are really friendly and staff are super attentive. The kitchen is cleaned for an hour every day from 11-12 and fridges are cleaned once a week, so that's good. If you've got an issue, they are very helpful and will do a lot for you. The only issue with the otherwise good location is the noise, being adjacent to St Vincent's Hospital and a main road means car noise and emergency sirens pretty frequently. Considering there is no aircon (although rooms stay pretty cool), open windows at night could be difficult for light sleepers.

• Ivan (7/5): Good value for money - Great location, two blocks from the last free tram zone stop - Albert St/ Nicholson St #10. Catch tram 86 or 96 from Southern Cross Station. Beautiful building. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. The building is along a busy main road with a lot of traffic noise, free earplugs are available at reception. Towels provided were musty.

• Jessica (4/5): Next time I'll find somewhere with a lift. This place would be fine if you travel light. - Location was good, beds were comfortable, you get 2 pillows which is nice. They provide pre-labelled bags for food which was convenient. The listing mentions air conditioning in every room, but upon arriving I was told it was only on the top floor? There is no lift, so I had to cary a heavy bag up multiple flights of stairs. The staircases look grand, but creak, and feel crooked, I was a bit worried about their stability. Pictures are not dishonest, but have not shown the sections of wall in need of painting/repair. The shared bathroom was on a different floor to my room which was very inconvenient.

Porte che sbattono fortissimo, senza guarnizioni e sistema di accompagnamento. Puzza incredibile dalla cucina a tutte le ore, che sale ai piani, senza arieggiare i locali. Hanno rubato la mia busta della spesa dal frigo. Rumore forte dalla strada. Finestre non insonorizzate fronte strada. Puzza molesta dalla cucina. Rumore forte di porte che sbattono.

• Jose Maycon (10/5): - This was my first time traveling to Australia, and although I had originally booked accommodation elsewhere, a friend of mine from Queenstown, New Zealand strongly recommended that I stay at The Mansion instead. I’m genuinely glad I followed her advice, because it turned out to be the right choice. The hostel has a really pleasant atmosphere. Right at check‑in, I was given labeled bags to store my food, which was a thoughtful touch. The reception area is full of useful information, and the outdoor garden gets plenty of sunshine, surrounded by leafy streets that make the whole place feel welcoming. The location is good as well, right across from the Melbourne Museum park, with everything easily accessible on foot or by public transport. My stay was very enjoyable. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and one morning they even made waffles for all the guests. It was such a nice gesture and created a good moment of interaction with other travelers. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would happily return. If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the size of the dining table areas, which could be a bit more spacious. However, I completely understand that this is due to the building’s layout, and it didn’t affect my experience in any negative way.
