Guest Reviews
- Robert (6/5): an upsetting experience - this was my 4th stay and had a rather upsetting experience. Upon check int man checking me in gave me a discount on my room I did not in any way ask for one he just did it. I figured it was because i have stayed several times in the last month. A few hours later i get a knock on my door from the older asian man i think he is the manager or owner. and he was upset at me that i didnt pay full price. i said the guy gave me a discount and he asked me why in a rather accusatory tone. so i had to pay the difference. being on SSDI i cant afford to waste over 100 dollars on a room and be kicked out. but his entire demeanor and way he addressed me was very unprofessional. other than this the room was good as usual clean and comfortable the rest of the staff was nice. but i feel this is something he should have discussed with his staff rather than being upset at the customer.
- Robert (8/5): 3rd stay - Have stayed here few times now. Always very friendly staff clean room and comfortable only complaint is the shower is a bit short for taller people. A hand held shower would be better.
- Robert (8/5): overall good couple small issues - For a place that looks like it was built in the 50s its very well kept. room was clean and good size AC worked great once it got going. my only complaints are being 6ft the shower was a bit short. and being disabled th bed whil comfy had a large divot in it which made it difficult to get out of bed.
- Christopher (2/5): - Location was okay but the better job on cleanness and customer services.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Road trip - Hotel was decent and quiet was a lil sketchy but wasn't a bad experience the desk lady was cool as a fan
- Savannah (6/5): - Affordable! The staff were very nice and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and there were amenities such as the microwave and fridge which were very useful. Cleanliness is pretty rough but I think you get what you pay for and I got exactly what I paid for with the price.
- John (4/5): - Dirty overall, shower was scanky looking. Burn holes in the bedding. Not a pleasant stay and even lost power for over 6 hrs.
- Rob (6/5): - The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and highlighted that the hotel was in a poor condition. The staff made me feel very welcome and were super helpful. If your just after a bed and 4 walls, would recommend
- Thomas (10/5): Great! - Everything was great! The bed was very comfortable.
- William (6/5): - Walls, furniture, flooring ( 3 different tiles ), curtains all had a lot of wear/damage. Bed was comfortable
- Larry (2/5): - I would recommend bring toilet paper, bring your own bleach, The room was dirty no smoke detector. The door was coming open even locked. There was feces on the wall, there was a bug in a coffee pot, The toilet and shower was filthy.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bugs & dirt at High Priced motel - Staff is friendly and most of time welcoming, but some of the tenants are creepy, stalker like and make women feel uncomfortable and not safe, but at cactus in copperas cove, texas, if you have $ that is what seemed to be most important my last stay there.
Ive had to buy cleaning products and cl3an bathroom, fans,a/c window unit. Just to be more comfortable with staying in this motel.
The FINAL straw of disappointment is when i stayed night and was informed by mÿ husband the next day, we had to leave because they have bugs and i asked him, what he was talking about and received the picture attached of bed bug on our pillow.
When informed the mgr, he only stated I sorry and acted as if we brought these bugs into hotel. When turned key to room in a little after, couldnt find anyone in office and never received any hospitality or compensattion for this inconvenience.
- SEAN (6/5): Bugs and no drinking water. - Good:
Love the windows on the bathroom,
Ac, fridge and microwave worked well
Good parking near room
Negative:
Very poor wifi quality, Offered 2 networks, but still very inconsistent Wi-Fi.
No hanging space for clothes.
Too many crickets and cockroaches
Toilet very old and not firm.
Tub was very old
Faucet was very loose.
No ice Maker or drinking water.
No working phone even though unit was available.
No breakfast, even though hotels.com Advertised breakfast.
Hotels. Com: Please do not misrepresent.
- claudia (2/5): - There was roches, died crickets, very very dirty flies bed bugs lots of drug addiction
- Linda (6/5): Eclipse - Pleasant helpful people. Room was good for price. The non smoking room reeked if cigarette smell.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Piece of crap - Frist it doesn't live up to your app.the place is 60 years old .no pool .no restaurant. The room was not clean .no towels no toilet papper.bed was 30 years old i almost fell off the bed when i got in.no ice machine. You need to chance your add.if it was up to me i would take this my app.
- Chris (8/5): - Good for a quick easy place to stay
- Kristin (10/5): - Love the staff
- Edward De La (8/5): - Room did not have ironing board or hair dryer. Pool was closed. No late check out time available
- patricia (6/5): - Good
- Joyce (2/5): - When I checked in I could see it was an older establishment but the office was clean and decorated and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Once I got to the room and noticed just how old and run down the place was I instantly became sad. But once I opened up a drawer and found cockroaches running around I became ill. I have been here a few hours and have killed 7 roaches myself. That is the ones I could catch. My concern caused the maid to spray for the roaches but it didn't do any good at all. My situation at the moment is causing me to grin and bare it until morning. Never again, nor would I recommend this place, not even to an enemy....
- Janelle (6/5): - I got there when they said a room would be ready and had to wait which is normally fine, but when i got into the room i went straight to the shower and it was filthy. After cleaning it myself i took a shower and realized the bath tub didnt drain well. The tv didnt work for half the day either..
- Randall (2/5): - This was the dirtiest and worst maintained motel EVER! Bugs on the floor and bed, toilet seat so small and wrong size for the toilet, half used roll of toilet paper and dirty smudges on it, smelled very bad and many unsavory guests. I paid for 2 nights but only stayed about an hour, i slept in my truck instead.
- Joseph (10/5): - Military friendly
- Brandon (2/5): - This place had dirty beds water damage on the floors and several diffrent kinds of bugs running aroound the room including bed bugs.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Waste of money - This hotel was terrible. Our room was disgusting. First off, there was a used towel hanging in the clothing rack with clothes hangers from other guests. The shower wasn’t made for anyone over five feet tall. Our room was never cleaned, bed was extremely uncomfortable, what looked to be bullet holes in the curtains and walls. The absolute worst part was finding a crack pipe in the light fixture that was falling down. Only positive about this place was the front desk personnel, very helpful and inviting
- Sara (4/5): - Toilet was filthy. Flooring was loose. Expedia charged the credit card when reservations were made but the facility made me pay with another credit card so we ended up paying for the same room twice
- Gay (8/5): Need a maid with pride - It was ok, I seen a few roaches in the room, bed did not have comforter and the ruffle on mattress was torn and handing on floor
- James (8/5): - It was a good stay
- Tara (6/5): - Very nice front desk staff/owners and nice maintenance person. I hope they'll be able to renovate and remodel. It's much needed since the place is so old.
It's an old classic motel.
- Kellie (10/5): Helps low income people love 😊 - I love there service good people
- Kathy (10/5): Kathy Henry - I would classify my stay as a vintage type experience. Staff were exceptional with their service. I was fortunate to capture cool Texas morning weather, which allowed me to open the window in the bathroom while taking a nice hot shower. A lovely stay. In the morning at a reasonable hour, housekeeping came by and asked me if there was anything I needed.
- SYLVESTER (10/5): - Staff was wonderful, will book in the future
- Martina (2/5): - Bullet hole in mirror tub floors dirty patches on walls everywhere just unsanitary
- Nathaniel (2/5): - They tried to put me in a smoking room with no smoking rooms available.
- William (2/5): So many lies!!! - Did not come with several of the items that were clearly included in the booking, especially did not have 24 hr check-in desk. It DIDNT have a king bed, breakfast, towels, restaurant, wifi, tv, working heater, or refrigerator which were all advertised and significant to me booking this place over several others. The owner offered me coffee as consolation which I dont drink because of ulser. All the food I had with me stayed in the car and froze, but would have gone bad in the room which fluctuated wildly between 50 degrees and 90 degrees.
Therefore I was better off camping. They threatened to charge my card extra if I cancelled. Refund was out of the question. Not worth even the $60 rate. This a $29/night place at best. Probably does have bed bugs. Wish I had read the reviews about how loud the train was all night. Also, I would have still been charged but unable to get into the room had I arrived at midnight or later which is only 20 minutes after I did arrive. The Hotels.com post indicated you could check in as late as 7am the day of checkout. So many lies!!!!!
- Odie (4/5): - Roaches in both our rooms. Shower didn't work in one of the rooms
- Andrew (10/5): - It was a good location the room was very clean an the bed was so comfortable best sleep my wife an I have had in a hotel in a long time the shower had great pressure an lots of hot water.
- John (2/5): - The owner of the property would not let me stay due to me having my 50lb bulldog. This is the first time this has happened. Why is this hotel listed as pet friendly? It was after 11pm when I was turned away and had to drive another 40 minutes after finding a new hotel. I had been on the road since 8:30am and was the definition of the weary driver. I plead with him to reconsider. He arrogantly shook his head and stated that he was the owner, not Expedia, and that he could refuse my reservation. Instead of honoring the hospitality of his chosen profession, he is a dishonorable man and should be greatly ashamed.
- Ronal (2/5): - Honestly when we got to our room we already noticed a dead roach ontop of the dresser of our 1 king size bed then as soon we went into the bathroom more dead roaches in the corners, the room looks run down and dirty. So wheny husband went to complain they showed us another room but it had a live roach roaming around then gave us another room which reeked of cigarettes smell it was bad. Couple days later even saw a small roach moving around, still noticed like 1 or 2 dead roaches. It was already past 15 mins of checking in so we can't request a refund cause we are trying to find a decent room to stay in. Overall worst experience ever. The owner im presuming the guy with then little dog acts clueless like nothing is wrong with his motel. That place needs to be renovated and they need to learn how to clean the rooms.
- Marita (4/5): - The staff at check in were very friendly and gave us an upgrade to a suite. The bed was fairly comfortable and the sheets were clean. The large fridge and microwave were handy. Those were the good points. I want to be mindful that the pandemic has been hard for businesses and assume that this hotel is doing the best they can. We would not return here based on our experience. Suggestions to the owners: find a way to eliminate the smoke odor from non-smoking rooms; please change the 40 year old curtains; go inside and check the work of the cleaning staff, nobody likes hair and socks, receipts and spools of thread lying around from past guests, or sticky floors, a grimy tv, dirty furniture, and nothing except a few bowls in the kitchen to make it useful. A kitchen towel or paper towels, a hot pad, and a few pots would have been nice. Also, the pool had no water in it, maybe one day? Please make sure staff is servicing rooms daily, we went 3 days without attention and had to go get clean towels ourselves, please don’t ask guests to go back to their rooms and bring you their dirty towels. We wanted to save money on lodging but this was a pretty miserable way to do that.
- Anthony (10/5): - It was amazing and quiet loved it the hotel itself was amazing
- Donna (2/5): Bed bugs - Old motel rooms. Has BED BUGS.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel was nice, but there was no hot water and the bed had bedbugs. Didn’t see any when we first checked in but around 2am got up and found bedbugs on the bed. Asked to be moved to a room without bedbugs, but the owner decided to give me a full refund. Guess the other rooms had bedbugs as well. Was originally planning on staying five nights.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible experience. Cockroaches in the room. Never again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Priced for what it looks like - As soon as I open the door the room looks okay because it's a handicap room. The floor is wood and nice. The bathroom was fine for the price but the AC sucks '-(. The wooden floor wasn't swept, dust coagulated. Not sure if bed was infested with bedbugs, fleas or mosquitoes or all of the above.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location overall was okay, let’s just say you get what you pay for. Honestly the reviews this place has are a little scary lol.
- Renee (10/5): - Besides flaws from previous owners which a continuous work in progress daily they turned it to an amazing place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was awesome.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Found BED BUGS in the bed. Management gave us a hard time before a partial refund. DONT EVER STAY THERE.
- stella (8/5): Check it out for yourself ! - Recently remodeled, clean parking area and room .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room is beautiful when you first walk in then you go to sit on the bed and the bed was so old you fell to the floor in the middle like a big sinkhole ...the night stand drawers were full of junk...drug utensils..wasnt cleaned...bathroom had black mens pubs all over inside the tub
- Karen (6/5): Not so great hotel! - The hotel is rather old and the towels were extremely thin and smelled of smoke in a min smoking room. There is a train that runs and blows it's horn from 5:30 am until 10:30 pm right next to the hotel. But that's what you get for a cheap rate hotel. Plus someone knocked on our door at 4:30 am looking for the maintenance person.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked that it was right on the hiway and easy to find but i will not be staying there again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Ugh, they suck!! I didn’t really want to stay there because they hold grudges.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is a dump. Filthy dirty. Looks ok from the outside, but the room was disgusting.
- Jonathan (4/5): Horrible - I have a service dog and was only allowed to keep him in a smoking room and the price was higher. Blankets had burn holes and the AC didn’t work well. Lots of in and out traffic all night long. Would not recommend this motel.
- Pedro (4/5): You get what you paid for - Great staff and owner but the room was not to my standards. Sheets made me itch, and restroom was full of mold. The train is directly behind the room as well as a busy street. Breakfast was typical.
- Verified traveler (2/5): NOT ANY PLACE I WANT TO STAY AGAIN!! - Breakfast was well under par, Management is down right awful. Rude, disrespectful, not to mention seriously lacking in tact or couth so to speak.. when deciding on a hotel room on a smaller budget, I would go ahead & pass this location on up & go with your next choice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Noisy moving trains and could hear loud motorcycles. Entry doors need some weather stripping.
- Matthe (10/5): - Cozy clean right in the middle of town. Nice staff an easy going small town vibe
- stella (10/5): This stay is well worth the money ! - Check in was extremely easy, room was extremely clean and convenient , breakfast was really good and free!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was nice, my room had small holes on the wall that had paper stuffed in them to cover them up, when i checked everything it was ok but in the morning when i went to take a shower the tub was full of water it was gross and the sheets and blankets had holes in them from people smoking on the bed
- Jeff (10/5): - Very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the fact it was clean and it wasnt no loitering
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bathroom was filthy and the blanket had stains. Upon checking the mattress, bed bugs were discovered!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The people were real nice and easy to deal with I’d stay there again for the price it was well worth it
- William (8/5): - This is a small, older property that has new owners and is being renovated. It’s not fancy, more old school, but comfortable and very economical. They have a simple but impressive selection of cereals, pastries, and fresh brewed Starbucks coffee in the morning. My wife and I loved our old school experience!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Management helped when we were in need and helped with or extended stay
- Alma (2/5): - Very dirty, our feet turned black when walking on carpet, no towels, no soap, roach in bathroom, bed sheets dirty we slept on top of comforter without blankets, swimming pool out of service. But air conditioning worked well, was very cool in the room. They had great breakfast.
- stella (10/5): Very clean and I will be coming back ! - Hotel was very cleaned and comfortable; mini fridge available as well as. Microwave in the room . Clean tile floors and bathroom . Coffee pot with supplies for a fresh cup of coffee.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Older property but well maintained
Bed was comfortable
- Cactusmotel (2/5): - Rochies in room, not enough coverage on bed., ...............
- Kimberly (4/5): - Didn't have the room i reserved and then charged me extra for the room they did put me in.
- Jalissa (2/5): Cactus Inn aka Bedbugs Inn - The most horrible experience ever at a hotel. They have bed bugs and roaches. Just pure filth! And the owner is a despicable rude horrible human being
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Did not expect 5 star hotel for $35- overall room was
Worth the price I paid. No hair dryer - no soap- tiny bottle
Of shampoo/conditioner- had to go out and buy these.
Shower curtain was filthy. They do offer a continental
Breakfast - which looked nice- but I needed a full breakfast.
Owner gave me a bottle of water at check in- much appreciated.
- Luis (4/5): Not worth the price - Staff was friendly, but the room was terrible, the bathroom curtain had mold and no knob on the door, wifi signal did not reach our room, walking barefoot would leave your feet black, the bed was sinking in the middle, and the breakfast area had only one table.
- Sarah (4/5): Never Again! - This place was filthy. I had to change rooms, and the room I moved to was also nasty, but not as bad. There was alot of hair in the sink of the first rm. From what I can tell, it looked as though someone had just shaved. The bathtub was dirty, and there was a dried white substance on the bedspread. Tge second room I moved to had a dirty bathtub. I was so exhausted I just stayed. I use shower shoes, my own towels, pillow and cover anyway. I was called back to HTX early... Thank God. I had booked for 2 nights and tried to check out early. The owner was being an a-hole. Instead of letting the room go to waste, I let my son stay the last night. It's unfortunate for Cactus Inn, because I'd stayed there half a dozen times before and it was okay. They've lost lots of money from me because I'm in the area nearly every week for several days. The manager wasn't willing to refund $50 for one night, and thus lost out on ALOT more. Now, when I'm searching for a hotel in this area, which is quite often, I scroll right past Cactus Inn.
- Cynthia (10/5): My experience at cactus - It was better than I thought they are so nice
- glen (6/5): - if you need a rest and go. Desent breakfast. Freindly staff. Older place needs a makeover. about 4 trains passed by in middle of night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I wasn't able to stay the night at the room due to unforeseen circumstances. I did, however, stop by in the morning to see the room since I paid for it. The owner gave me a tour of the room and it had a pleasant smell of new paint; it was clean. The bathroom could use an update to the toilet and tub tiles. I would consider staying there for future visits.
- Mat (4/5): - Bugs everywhere, sink was clogged, no fire detector
- Michael (8/5): - Needed a quick room cheap
