- Gaël (8/5): Simple et efficace - Lieux chaleureux / Grands espaces
Lieu bruyant
- Kiani (10/5): - Very comfy bed, lovely building, friendly hosts, big garden, nice location, well equipped kitchen, lots of chill spaces. Can be chilly in the bedroom in the evenings, but the blankets are very good, so not really a problem.
- Delgado (9/5): -
- Avalos Diaz (10/5): - La anfitriona muy carismatica agradable y hermosa persona 🥰
- Teresa (10/5): Awesome, great place to - Great value, comfy beds and bedding. Very clean all around, awesome vibe.
Parking for vehicle, welcoming staff. Nothing
- Steven (9/5): Very enjoyable and would not hesitate to stay there again. - A lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and fellow travellers, a great place to meet new people and swap stories and recommendations. Very comfy bed and decent lockers to store your packs in. It came recommended and I can see why. A bit of a walk to the centre but very close to the waterside and several nice eateries close by. Having snow capped volcanoes to look it is something special. The garden is beautiful and reminded me of home. Nothing.
- Ignacio (10/5): -
- Jasmin (9/5): - Great common area, very well equipped kitchen, free coffee & tea, beach very close to the hostel, on the bus route to Petrohue watterfalls, very big shared room with more than enough space. Location was a little outside of the centre which I was aware of and was fine. But it still always took 25-30 min to walk to the city or $1000 for the bus.
Downstairs bathrooms could be renovated a little but were still clean.

- Nasser (1/5): - I rarely write reviews this harsh, but this experience honestly deserves it.
From the moment I arrived, the service was unacceptable. The lady at reception was extremely unfriendly and completely unhelpful. What made it worse is that I clearly showed my passport as a foreign visitor, yet I was still charged a local tax that I should not have been charged.
When I pointed this out, instead of resolving the issue professionally, her response was essentially: “It’s not my problem. You’re being charged. You should have canceled.” That’s not how you treat a guest. I even suggested a simple solution, cancel the charge and process it again correctly on my credit card, but she flat-out refused. There was no attempt to help, no flexibility, just arrogance and an eagerness to escalate the situation unnecessarily.
When I tried to de-escalate and said there was no need to argue if she didn’t want to fix it, she became even more defensive and acted as if I was entirely at fault. It was incredibly unprofessional.
The room itself didn’t justify the price either. I paid $50 for a “private room,” yet:
- No towel, no soap, no basic amenities
- Absolutely zero soundproofing I could hear everything: people in nearby rooms, people downstairs, footsteps on wooden stairs
Calling it a “private room” is misleading when you can hear the entire hostel.
Overall:
- Poor and rude service
- Incorrect charges with no accountability
- Lack of basic amenities
- Extremely noisy environment
- Location is very far away from town
I would not recommend staying here. The experience was frustrating from start to finish, and the value for money is simply not there.

- Max F. (10/5): Perfect 👌 - Everything you expect from a hostel!
Everything was perfect!

- Benjamin (10/5): Lovely staff, lovely building - Amazing communal areas, even better garden, and Eli (sorry if I spelt this wrong) was so nice! A little walk out of the centre of town, although that didn’t bother us at all. We liked this part of town. It’s 200m from a quiet bit of beach if you want a dip in the lake, and there’s still plenty of shops and restaurants around.
- Louise (10/5): -

- Sofie (10/5): -
- Amelia (9/5): Lovely and welcoming hostel - The hostel was very sociable and staff were lovely. The whole hostel was lovely. The beds were comfortable and considering how cold it was outside, it was lovely and warm inside. Minor issue but a bit of a trek to the centre but it's near a bus stop
- Newton (10/5): Exceptional - lovely vibe lovely people, shout out to matt, Lucy and pierre....and the wee kitties me amores <33 nada
- Clare (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - One of the best hostels I've stayed in! Very homely vibe, really kind staff who are helpful in providing any recommendations/advice needed on things to do, spacious rooms (I was in the downstairs room which had loads of storage space and space around beds, and really big single beds that were very comfortable, but can't speak for the other rooms), living room is really comfortable and it's very easy to meet other travellers, kitchen is very well stocked, apples in the garden which I picked every day. Location is 30 minutes walk from the centre but it's a nice walk along the water so it's not too bad!
- Skjold (10/5): Brilliant stay in puerto Varas - The staff was really nice and the common areas were excellent!! Can’t think of anything
- Guestly (10/5): Homey and very comfortable - I loved this hostel! It is very homey, as it is a big house with a big garden in the back. The bed was super comfortable, everything was clean, the shower was nice, the staff was friendly, the common areas including the kitchen was super. It's around a 20 minute walk to the center, so if you don't mind that, this is a very good value hostel! The showers drained a bit slow, but who cares!
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - nice place and nice staff argentinian guy at the reception i forgot the name of was very nice and tried to help you with what to do and where to go
- David (9/5): A lively hostel in a good location - good vfm - Architecture and resulting atmosphere
Lovely garden Front desk often not manned. Local water supply failure - no their fault
- Achsel (10/5): A memorable end of my Chile semester 💐 - I love the people here, from the staff/volunteers to the guests.
I love the cleanliness
I love the bed, oh that's the comfiest hostel bunk bed I have ever slept and I am now not being extra LMAO
I love the bathroom, it's so SPACIOUS
I love the environment even they have a park in the back!
This is a special message for the volunteers, there are two: that one Argentine man (I am really bad at remembering name) and a spanish girl named Alba, you guys are very kind... the Argentine is very bubbly and he let me stay for some hours extension for free only for waiting for my bus. And Alba, she is a sweet Catalunya girl. We had a lot of things to chit-chat and she loves to paint. If you stay here and see the paintings of two mountains in a section behind the reservation, that's what she did. To these two people, if you read this, I wanna say, it would be a pleasure to meet you and thank you for giving me a memorable ending for my Chile trip even tho it's only one-night moment. I know both of you will move to other places, so I always wish you all the good fortunes for the upcoming journey! See you sooner or later
Con cariño,
@anselsuherman My decision! I wish I could stay longer! (Blame it on myself)
- Mark (9/5): All good, staff friendly -
- Mauricio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Felizitas (10/5): Exceptional - Great atmosphere!!!
- Anna (9/5): Best place to stay in Puerto Varas - It’s in a beautiful refurbished historic building. The common areas and rooms are comfy, kitchen is well equipped, bathrooms are clean and smell nice. Staff are welcoming and helpful. It’s a 15-20 minute walk from the center of town, which I liked because it was apart from the touristy areas. There are panaderías and minimercados nearby for purchasing food.
- Ilanit (9/5): Comfortable - Comfortable, excellent showers with privacy and all the hostel very clean. Nice garden. In the evening loud music from the t.v of the public area where the dinning area is. Far from the center of the town, but there is a bus just outside the hostel. If needed to travel to the east side of the lake, the bus station is very close to the hostel. Towels are needed to be rented.
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional - very friendly staff, pretty garden and very clean.
- Oliver (10/5): awesome! cozy wooden house , very clean and very friendly staff - very comfy beds, spaceous community room/kitchen, became friends with the staff
- Philipp (9/5): Superb -
- Philipp (9/5): Superb -
- Nancy (9/5): Very cozy atmosphere and perfect place base for checking out puerto varas - The ambience was very welcoming, super clean, and lovely staff Our room could have been warmer, there was a radiator panel for heating but it wasn’t always on and the room was a bit cold
- Elisa (7/5): Good - the lady who welcomed me was really nice and it is sucha beautiful and comfy place with a lovely shared area. the bedroom wasn't really nice, the bed is really high. and one of the staff lady was always making noise at night and turning the big light on even if we were 2 sleeping and in the dark at first. my bed was just under the light.
- Copeland (10/5): Exceptional - Cool place, friendly staff
- Tomás (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional - One of the better hostels I've stayed
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (6/5): Bring your hat and scarf - Other than the lack of heating, the Hostel is nicely appointed and has everything you need to prepare meals. Our bed was comfortable and the private room plenty large enough for our stuff This property was COLD! You have no control over the heat whatsoever. It’s set to come on in the late evening and morning (but not in time for early risers. I wore my knit hat and scarf in the morning). I don’t understand why the heat can’t be on periodically through the day. People don’t like to come in to a freezing room after exploring the cold outdoors.
- Alexis (10/5): I had 3 days rest here and don’t regret it. Lovely - We feel like home ! Very cozy, good beds and nice resting/ common area.
The employees and volunteers were really helpful and nice ! Nothing wrong here.
- Lina (9/5): Superb - We had an outstanding stay at the hostel. What we liked best was the atmosphere of the common areas, which were well equipped (coffee and tea for everyone, all kitchen utensils one needs) and nicely decorated. It’s easy to meet other travellers if you’re just by yourself. The staff was friendly and everything clean - even the bathrooms are nicely decorated and spotless. All buses that go to Petrohué, Cochamó or Puerto Montt pass by the hostel, so you don‘t have to walk to the centre (20-30 min) every time. Just wait next to the street and wave at the bus driver. There are also a few restaurants, a supermarket and cafés nearby. Absolutely recommendable.
- Lucas (9/5): Superb -
- Bazlamit (10/5): Exceptional - SUPERCOZY!
Spacious clean rooms with a nice bathroom.
The staff and volunteers were super kind and social.
Nice common area and kitchen
Good location, walking distance to the centre
- Muriel (8/5): Very nice place, staff very friendly, kitchen very well eland lovely garden. Juste quite a lote of noise down stares wh -
- Hannah (7/5): Good - Nice common area. Staff gave good advice on going on hikes without needing to go via a tour. The top bunk felt really unsafe and made it hard to sleep. There are also no plugs for anyone with a top bunk, which makes it hard to set an alarm if you want to avoid disturbing others in the room. Quite noisy due to creaky floors and lockers.
- Alfonso (8/5): Very good - Very nice place, with good location and the experience of live in an old german house style! Maybe the room its noisy in the morning and the house need another bathroom with shower. But it’s a very nice place.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was great and especially the kitchen very well equipped! We enjoyed our time and would definately come back :)
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Traditional Chilean wooden house.
Good place. Easy check in. Close to the beautiful waterfront and bars / restaurants. It is a decent walk I to the city but a bus passes right past the door. Easy and cheap use.
Free tea and coffee.
- Lewis (8/5): Expensive but a nice hostel - Nice common areas and garden. Good kitchen. Tea and coffee available all day. Close to the lake. A member of staff wanted to close the dormitory windows and jumped on my bed where my clothes and towel were, fortunately nothing breakable, and where I was reading. He didn't ask he just got on my bec. It's a bit expensive for a hostel. No towels included. It's a little way from the heart of Puerto Varas but a very nice walk.
- Jofo1309 (9/5): Superb -
- Lena (8/5): Very good - Super cozy, nice interior in a beautiful house
Huge beautiful garden
It’s not in the centre of the city but i actually preferred it a lot more (and it is only a short walk to the centre) It is true that is not really soundproof, my room was on the bottom floor and i could hear everything that was going on at the reception and kitchen
Also the wifi was not working in my room
Didn’t bother me - but might be important for others to know
- Sam (9/5): Recommended. Thanks - Great place, friendly staff
- Espinoza (10/5): Comfortable, clean, friendly and cozy place . Well located. -
- Robin (8/5): Very good -
- Rojas (8/5): Very good -
- Ieva (9/5): Superb -
- Rosie (9/5): Superb - Staff were present and helpful, the garden is gorgeous, great kitchen and communal spaces. Very comfortable bed. Hot water ran out once but was quickly fixed!
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - A hostel with a very open atmosphere and friendly staff in a historic house. I really enjoyed my stay there.
- Ivan (9/5): Superb -
- Silas (10/5): Exceptional - Its a very nice hostal with a very comfortable design and rooms, clean bathrooms, a functional kitchen and a nice social area It's very far from the city center. Roughly a 20-30min walk
- Lois (9/5): great place to relax for a few days - It’s a really comfortable and homely hostel. There are great sofas in the common rooms to relax on and the beds are very comfortable. the 19% booking.com “commission” that the hostel staff don’t explain well.
it’s a bit of a walk to the centre but close to the lake front
- Mike (9/5): Good hostel in Puert Varas - Nice common area. Cozy and warm. The chill area on the first floor is very relaxed and a great way to chat with other travellers. Collective bus passes right outside the door. The bunk beds are not secure and wobble disturbingly. They need bracing properly, as it feels like they could collapse.
There is no defined area for guests to store food, just some bins on the floor. Needs storage shelves at counter height. The fridge space is too small for the number of guests; it needs a bigger/other fridge.
