• niranjan (4/5): - Beware of shared bathrooms and kitchen here which were not mentioned on the booking page. Has a washer but no dryer, what a joke. Kind of dated and noisy.
• Alexander (10/5): - We had a large family room for 4 (you could easily fit more young children if co-sleeping). Common kitchen had other travelers making breakfast and chatting. (Keep in mind there's no food available at this location.) No problems waiting for the shared shower. Self-checking with code 24/7.

• Christopher (6/5): - This property was quite overpriced for what you actually got. The restaurant at the guesthouse was really quite good. But the accommodations were noisy and quite tired.
• Rodrigo (2/5): - It is not clear that there’s a shared bathroom, and even worse that it’s shared with another 6 rooms on the second floor where our room was located. It obviously represents also a challenge for we of smells in the house, as the common areas are shared, but again, this is not communicated anywhere. Check in is at a different location, and then they give you a map to go to the actual house where the room is located, which is not entirely clear. Instructions are poor.

• Trevor (4/5): No power points in the bedroom. Badly lit. - No power points in the room. The only way that you could charge anything was to unplug the bedside light. That wasn't practical as the ceiling light was as bright as two candles. The only power socket was in the bathroom so if you left your phone in there you couldn't get it back when others were taking a shower. Not well soundproofed. Absurd that you have to drive to another location to get a 4 digit code for the keysafe when they could send it electronically. The kitchen was excellent plus large lounge/ diner.

• Erika (6/5): - Staff at Hotel Gerdi where you check in were super friendly and helpful. I wish we had stayed there. The cottage was ok for one night but walls are thin, rooms are tiny, and one bathroom door didn’t lock. It was quiet after 10 pm. The kitchen was a full kitchen if you needed to cook and there was also a washer and dryer. There is nothing near the property itself which is good and bad.

• Heidi (8/5): - I tried to rent places where we didn’t have to share living spaces, but I must have missed this one. However, everyone staying there were super friendly and there weren’t any problems. It was located in a beautiful place with several waterfalls behind it.
• Geoffrey (8/5): Just fine - It was fine. Bit tricky finding the place to checkin ... The instructions were buried in zillions of hotels.com emails. One in, it was a normal guesthouse.
• Terence (2/5): - This place should not be open for business. The toilets do not work - disgusting. You have water pressure issues. Some of the bathroom locks were not functioning. Fix your plumbing issues!!! This is the worst night we have had in Iceland - by far. If you can’t provide basic plumbing, you should be shut down. I can’t believe we paid money to stay here. Shame on you.
• Maryanne (6/5): - The people were super nice and check in was easy. The food at the guest house was delicious. The accommodations are a good size and clean. The bathrooms are shared and are very small, water gets everywhere and each person only gets one towel also the shower water temperature is very difficult to adjust. The cost for the room is high given the shared bathrooms, I would not return to the guest house, but I would return to the restaurant.
• Boglarka (4/5): - The room was very small, the bed took up pretty much the whole space, not leaving room to open the suitcases or even just to sit down. There was only one power outlet for a double room, at a somewhat inconvenient position, so we definitely needed our extension cords to be able to recharge both of our phones. Quite overpriced, for just the bed space, to be honest.
• Maziar (4/5): - Beautiful scenery, but that is about it. Shared bathrooms and kitchen. One shower didn’t work properly. Tiny room where they squeezed 5 beds. Would not recommend.
• Vladislav (6/5): - Way overpriced for the conditions. This place had a non-functional shower (our neighbours also couldn't get it to work). I showered myself and my kids by filling a water bottle. Very disappointing after a long day of hiking (there's also a hole inside the shower right through the wall to the outside - I guess a vent used to be there and they never replaced it). One of the bathrooms had a toilet that didn't flush - I had to flush it with a bucket. The blinds in our room were broken - have to be turned by hand. The bed felt caved in and worn out. If it were 100EUR cheaper, I'd say fine. But at this price, it needs a major upgrade. I messaged the owner via Expedia app last night and have not heard back. A shame because our first impression was "this place is cozy". For reference, the night before, we stayed at a place almost 100EUR cheaper and had a private, fully renovated bathroom and two rooms with excellent beds and sheets. The full service hotel we stayed at in Vik was also cheaper.

• Jennifer (10/5): - The staff were extremely helpful, and although our reserved room was not available, they were gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend this property--the rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was warm and friendly.

• Mark A (8/5): It worked, but it cost gas and time others did not - We had to go to a different location completely to get info how to enter this guesthouse - not had to waste this time or gas for any of the many other guesthouses we have stayed in - no reason the info couldn't be emailed to us, as others have. This was the smallest of any of the rooms, also, and the most basic of all the guesthouse rooms we have stayed in. It worked for a place to sleep, and there was a kitchen available.
• Che (10/5): - The accommodation is located about a 10min drive from Jökulsárlón. So it is really convenient when doing activities on the glaciers. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a kitchen if you need to make food. The nature around the accommodation is next level. With a waterfall at the back of the property.
• Tony (6/5): - You get what you pay for! Basic accommodations albeit clean. SMALL cramped bathroom/shower. Nice kitchen but limited dishware.
• Fernando (8/5): - Nice room with a deck, from which we saw the northern lights. Proximity to Jokulsarlon was the biggest factor for us to book there. Nearby guesthouse has restaurant, where we had a nice dinner. Shared bathrooms is the only drawback of this particular property

• Natalie (10/5): - The lady that helped us at checkin was so friendly. Room was clean and comfortable and the scenery around the property was beautiful. I read a review that there was one outlet in the room and it was 6 feet up the wall, that wasn’t our experience. We had outlets right on top of the bedside table on both sides. We didn’t use the kitchen area as we got there late and left early. The only recommendation I would make would be to add black out blinds. It was light at 5am and our room was bright. Other than that everything was great! Would recommend for sure.
• Susan (10/5): - Very close to glaciers. Loved separate cabin. Friendly and helpful staff that was willing to wait for our late check in. Oh, and we had 2 private waterfalls coming out of the mountains behind us…how can you beat that?
• Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible experience - Terrible experience. We were tired from driving and they made us drive 5 minutes past the guesthouse to their restaurant to get a lock code which they could have simply sent it via email to us, then drive back to the house. As I arrived the door was being held close with a chair because there wasn’t a lock, the place was very noisy, the doors were stuck and loud. One of the 2 toilets upstairs was out of order who knows for how long -I could tell because of the tape. Do not stay here unless it’s your last option.

The room was very tight for two people with luggage, there were no blackout curtains (with over 20 hours of daylight in summer), it was very difficult to find the guesthouse, and it was the nosiest stay I’ve had in Iceland. The only positive was we did a glacier hike that was connected with the hotel and it was fantastic. Overall I would not stay here again.

Lol Very comfortable and able to accommodate us. The Gerdi guesthouse was great for their restaurant and getting us checked in quickly. Would definitely recommend either property.

• Magdalena (10/5): Summer house is a lovely place - Our stay at Reynivellir was very nice. The business has accommodationd at 2 locations 2km apart. By incorrect directions from the email we received we ended up at the wrong location and were given keys to a summer house, which looked like the picture in the email but wasn't what we booked. Sorting out the mixup took some time but the owners of the place let us stay at the house at no additional charge. The summer house was lovely, just under two waterfalls and very comfortable for our stay of one night.

The kitchen is small, but had everything we needed to cook meals (though we had to shop in Vik on our way there). Excellent location for the ice caves. Easy checkin at the guesthouse. And fiber internet was excellent!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location! - Amazing location near Jokalsarlon, a minor pain to have to check in and out several minutes away and with nobody on site if issues arise. Shared kitchen and bathrooms worked smoothly.
• ALKENI (6/5): - It was a very difficult place to reach. With the blink of an eye, you can miss it which I did and drove one hour away from Hofn. When I called the hotel for help, directions and landmarks were very vague. In the bathroom, there was no place to put your shampoo. There was no bath mat and when you stepped out of the shower, you could easily slip because the shower was level with floor and the floor was all wet. It was noisy all night long because you could hear every sound when people came and went throughout the night.There was only 1 outlet in the room for light cellphone and digital camera.This was for a single person but the twin bed was much narrower than usual. The only good things about this place were cleanliness, crisp sheets and lots of places to hang things.

The kitchen had coffee and the equipment to make meals. All that was good. There's a bit of a weird way you have to check in, but they make it clear. The location is not great though. That's all the stuff you might eamt to know.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Great little cozy place to stay - Check-in was a little unusual (involved driving a few minutes further down the highway to another guesthouse). The place itself was quite nice. Four bathrooms (three with showers), a large open plan common/dining area with kitchen. I had the entire guesthouse to myself and found it a cozy place to stay in a very tranquil location. Some aspects of the place seem a bit dated but add to its character, while many things have been recently upgraded (modern bathrooms, extremely fast internet, a modern TV and dimmable LED lighting in the common area, etc.). Kitchen was very well equipped. I would happily stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area without spending a lot. Just be aware of the need to check in at a separate location!
• Verified traveler (2/5): - It was a house that someone had put locks on each bedroom door. There was a nice common area BUT the bedroom was NOT ensuite. Also, the front door did not lock and there was no one on site for questions or security. The check in was across and up the road at a very POORLY marked location. I wold never recommend this facility
• Miles (6/5): - This property has many sub cottages scattered in the location, need to check which one you booked to make sure you don’t get catfished. At least one is fairly old and should be renovated to justify its expensive price in non-peak season. Shared bathrooms in the cottage.
• Tapan (6/5): - This is really more setup like a hostel rather than a hotel. Also did not mention that it would be a shared bathroom. Also the amount I paid for this room was too much for what I got.
