I showed her my res and she did not want to honor it, she said she hated Hotel.com..she yelled and screamed at me saying she was going to charge me more because I insisted on the 2 beds. I kept telling her no and she had to honor my reservation. I finally said to forget it and was going to look else where. Then her demeanor changed and she said, Oh, how was your trip? WTH! Lets get you checked in. Like we had just walked in as a new check in. She wasnt in the office when we first walked in. She had a parrot that was sitting in the door handel. Went in and the bird flew into my arm and sat on my shoulder. Freaky. Room was old but clean. She wanted to clean the room everyday. I didnt want that. She kept trying to look inside the room. She stayed outside alot around our room. We wont be back there.Saw her arguing with another couple and she went into their room. They tried to get her out and few words were said over that

She told us about the Shoot Out on Main and the rodeo. The room was very nice and had everything we needed. It was clean and quiet. Of course let me not forget about Peek A Boo the cockatiel that greets all the guests. Peek A Boo talks, dances and will flip a ball cap off your head. Peek A Boo is free to roam the property and a great bird.

The best part was the two comfortable chairs! We were on an extended road trip and the other places had killer chairs! The exterior was well-maintained as well. A bonus was the 2-3 deer that visited to eat the shrubbery!

- Jennifer (10/5): Loved this place so much! - We absolutely loved this place! Fran is so welcoming and accomodating. She's so kind and friendly. I was sad when it was time to leave after 2 nights in Cody on our road trip through Yellowstone and Wyoming. We visited from California. There's a really cool friendly parot in the reception area named Peekaboo! Now about the room. Fran upgraded us to a room that had a full kitchen! That was so helpful because we're a family of 5. The rooms aren't fancy but very clean and that's perfect. Beds were comfy. Theres a nice rocking garden bench in front of each first floor room. We sat out there in the morning and watched a mama deer nurse her does across the street. Cody is an amazing little town and so is this motel! Highly recommend staying here!

Few days before trip hotel was now calling me asking me questions that they had already asked in the through the booking app. Hotel wasn’t bad but lost power in the morning tried to go to office to see if it was only our room or everyone but nobody was around in the office.

- 1028Travel (6/5): Quaint - Fran and her husband are the owners of this motel. We spoke to Fran directly over the phone to make our reservations. Fran was super friendly and very accommodating. Upon arrival we were met by Fran's husband who welcomed us and gave us some tips while in the area. Fran arrived and got us checked in. She suggested some places for dinner but we were able to locate a restaurant (Irma's) we liked on our own. Our room was clean, neat and comfy but rather small and dated for the price. The motel has a great location right on the edge of town so we were able to get up in the morning and continue our trip eastward towards Devil's Tower.

Room had a fridge but it was unplugged so by the time it got cold enough to put anything in it was time to pack up and leave. Bed was not comfortable enough to even sleep well...and my grandma has pillows that are newer....yikes

The beds were comfortable and the location was near downtown but far enough away that road noise was no problem. The room was very clean and parking was available outside the unit. - mlm (10/5): Great 2 night stay - We stayed 2 nights on our way to Yellowstone. Although the property is older you could tell it has been very well maintained. Our room was very clean and comfortable The owner was very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions. We ate breakfast twice at Granny's and had dinner at Irma's (reviews posted for both of those restaurants). Peek A Boo was also very friendly. She really liked my husband's shoulder. Although the rooms were a bit pricey I'm sure that was because we were staying in Cody. All in all we were very pleased with our stay.

The women who runs this place was just so nice and you have got to see here Cockatiel bird Peek-A-Boo. we would stay here anytime we are in Cody and we would recommend this facility to anyone. - 4NHTraveler (6/5): Pleasant stay - This motel has comfortable beds and was in a decent location (right off the road), but it seemed like it could use some updates. To enter the room, we were provided a physical key (I haven’t seen a physical key in forever). Also, although the door automatically locked, it was just that (self-locking door handle) and a chain slide lock for security. Other than these few things, we had a pleasant stay.

- Richard (10/5): Glad we came back. - We had stayed here several years ago and enjoyed it so we booked again. The building isan older motel, the the rooms and furnishings were quite well done. We had a real stove, frig, and dining table in our suite. The rooms had been remodeled with real granite counter tops for bath and other very nice appointments. Would be great for a longer stay.

We did a lot of searching and settled on Carter Mountain Motel in Cody. We were not disappointed. Our room was nicer than the pictures. Fran and her staff are just the best. Friendly, helpful and just really excited to see you. We felt like family more than a guest. Fran worked with us and another family we were traveling with in the parking arena. Both parties traveled with trailers with motorcycles. She helped us make it all work. She told us the best route to take to see wild life in the park. And she was correct...Had Buffalo walk the street right in front of us...Awesome. Added bonus! Fran has a Cockatoo that loves to ride motorcycles. So....my wife and I took Peak-aboo for a quick ride. We'll be sending Fran the video to post to their web site. Cant say enough about this place. Fantastic Stay....will definitely come back, maybe just to say hi to everyone...Loved the stay.
- Colleen (4/5): Bad customer service and charged more - The front desk customer service was not good! My husband stayed there last year and it was great! This year not so much. They charged me more than the agreed upon price even after I showed them the price I booked it for. All they asked is if we wanted the room or not. No compromise whatsoever.

The room is clean, well decorated with a working tv and comfy bed. It is conveniently located to just about everything you would need. There is no breakfast or amenities like coffee in the lobby. Parking is easy and right outside the hotel door. The area is safe and quiet. I was traveling with me 13 year old and will definitely stay again.

- Verified traveler (2/5): - I had booked couple of months in advance and when we arrived about 9:00 pm, after driving 10 or more hours, there was no air on in the room. The temperature had been in the 90s and it was still low 80s when we arrived. Expecting a cool room to go into, it was very hot. We turned air on but it took several hours to finally cool the room down. We had a fridge in our room but it was unplugged and did not work. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable and the bedspread had to been 30 years old. The room was not insulated well at all, we could here other people’s tv’s and talking. Oh and the street noise was as if you were sitting outside. Needless to say, this place was very disappointing.

- Scott (4/5): A Room with NO Windows - Hotel was below average. No windows, so you felt like you were in a cave. Owner tried to charge $20.00 more than quoted price of Hotels.com. I showed her paperwork, so she reduced the price back to the original, but grumbled about it the whole time. Very uncomfortable experience.
