Magnificent location but a precision: there is a 5+ kms of bumpy earth road to reach the house. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist fantastisch. Die 6 km lange Zuwegung über eine Schotterpiste ist zwar nicht so schön zum fahren, aber Iceland-like, wenn man so einsam wohnen möchte.

Unfortunately our weather was awful, so we didn't explore the property fully but it looked extraordinary through the windows, right on the coast - wished we could have explored low tide there. The host was awesome - he navigated us through the bad weather driving conditions and make a great breakfast. The facility is really nice with room upstairs and a large sitting/dining area downstairs. Overall a great place.

• Wiyannalage (10/5): Hidden Gem 💎 in Iceland - Located in one of the amazing places near the beach. A cozy room with nice hospitality from the owner. We were the first Sri Lankans and probably the first visitors from South Asia to visit this place. Current owner has done some super transformation to the old house which was built over a century ago.
• Marcosino (10/5): Incredibly beautiful guesthouse in a remote bay - Incredibly located guesthouse in a very calm bay right at the beach. Amazing host, great breakfast and beautifully renovated house. Since the place is rather remote, we would recommend to ask the host for suggestions regarding hikes, museums, activities. He nows the area incredibly well and recommend just the right activities! The guesthouse is the perfect place to experience wildlife, especially coastal birds.

• Erik (10/5): Unique and memorable. - Incredible location-we had the place to ourselves and felt like the only people for miles of the coast. About 15 minutes to nearest town (Hofsos) with one of the best restaurants we visited in iceland (Retro Mathus). A bit windy, but that was true for much of Iceland.

The long gravel accessroad is ok in general and poses no danger or challenge at any moment but is at one or two spots a bit rough for a toyota yaris.

Stay at Kolkuos house was one of the main highlight from our trip in Iceland. It's absolutely unique experience. Everything was more than perfect. The house inside is very beautiful, comfortable, super clean, stunning view from the window. I would love to stay much more longer there, because this house has some magic energetic. The feel is definitely like at the end of the world, very calm, relax & cozy. Nothing, everything was more than perfect.

We used the kitchen to make our own dinner. This place is a perfect refuge. The host prepared breakfast and we enjoyed his company. Should have stayed longer. For those looking for something in a city, this isn't it. For those looking for natural beauty, quiet and peacefull surroundings, this is your place. Very glad we happened on this by chance.

• Colin (10/5): Spendid isolation at the "end of the world"! - A beautiful guest house in a beautiful location with an amiable and attentive host! What a great find! Unfortunately we could only stay 1 night on our tour around Iceland, but it was enough to appreciate how special this place is! And we saw the aurora borealis for the first time there! Be prepared for a 6km drive along a rough track and a little peaceful isolation from the rest of the world......a great plus point for us. Very useful to be able to use the kitchen to prepare a meal. Thank you Valgeir for creating this place, for the nice breakfast and for the stimulating conversation! Nothing really.
• Katja (10/5): Stay here for an unforgettable experience - The location is simply stunning. If you like beautiful scenery away from everything, this is the place to stay. The house itself is amazing and the rooms are lovely and spacious. We were lucky as the night was clear when we stayed there and we had the opportunity to see the northern lights which added to what was already a very special experience. I visited Iceland three times and stayed in various places and this was hands down my favourite. The room we booked had wheelchair access which meant there was no door between the room and the bathroom ie no privacy. I wasn't aware of that beforehand so was in for a bit of a surprise when I walked in. If I knew about this it would probably stop me from booking the place but I'm so glad I didn't because I would miss the chance to stay at this magical place. I understand the owner is planning to install the door very soon so, this won't be an issue anymore in the future plus there is an additional toilet on the ground floor that can be used should you wish to do so. Please note there is no TV or wifi at this property (my mobile network was working fine) but that just means you get to enjoy the surroundings without any modern day distractions. There are books and a piano in the lounge.

It is a perfect place to see what life is like in a house with only the sound of nature! It doesn't have WiFi and it does very well. Take a book, go down to the living room and read. - no wifi here talk to each other - also the house takes you to another decade!

• Tom (10/5): A quiet, quaint, jewel of a place to stay. - It's a bit off the main road but a quick call to the owner and he guided us in. And it was worth it! Beautiful view of the water, very cozy room, fantastic breakfast served by the owner in a "tuxedo" apron. He makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. Absolutely nothing!

Google map provides house location but no road info for navigation. Suggest owner to provide driving direction in description, particularly provides GSP point of drive load from route 76. 2) The house has too much flying insects in bedroom in summer.

Comfortable bedding, very clean property. Great breakfast and a charming host. So far, nothing has topped this accommodation in Iceland. A bonus was the sunny, warm weather and no wind. We truly did not expect to have such luck.
• Rm (10/5): Warm and inviting guesthouse in a place of ethereal beauty - The hotel was a rare find located in a place of ethereal beauty. We appreciated access to the kitchen to cook a simple meal. The host was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Although there are no grocery stores in the immediate neighborhood, there are stores along the road as well as in the next town. We liked the peaceful ambience and the unique beauty of the place. We hope to be back. We cannot think of anything.
