Matt C. (10/5): If you’re coming to Kyoto, stay in this lovely updated and conveniently located Machiya. - This place was just the best, the photos and description do not do it justice. Staying in a Machiya is a must during a visit to Japan, and this home has been so well manicured by the owners that I just can’t wait to go back. Fantastic small details throughout and a very comfortable bath, sleep and stay. The home is much bigger than it shows online (it’s an entire home to yourself). The location is excellent, close to Gion, the subway, grocers, and a number of tourist attractions (only a short $10 taxi from Kyoto Station). The owners, Koji and Eri, were accessible, friendly, and rightfully proud home owners as they’ve clearly put extra care and love into this rejuvenated home that offers many luxuries. Book. Book. Book.
