• Hilary (7/5): Suburban house with numerous rooms - The off road parking and closeness to the bus stop. It was warm in the room,clean and everything worked. Check in was reasonably quick, check out quicker as we left the key in the door at 10.00 am as no one was about. The breakfast (extra fee) was excellent. The room was not very spacious yet we were informed we'd been upgraded in fact, so the original room would have been too cramped we felt. Disappointed to be turned away at breakfast the second morning because a staff member gave us the wrong information when she booked us in for Monday morning at 9.15. Watch out for the timings as we saw a foreign guest refused breakfast on Sunday because she was 5 minutes late. What must she have thought of British hospitality 😔

• Jane (4/5): Spoiled by a bad decision - I liked the location and the on site parking. I did not like that I messaged to ask for a downstairs room which I was told would not be a problem. I did not like being told the room had been allocated to someone else only when we arrived. The decent and right course of action would have been to decline that guest. Failing that, it should have been courtesy to inform me so I could make alternative arrangements for my nearly 90 year old FIL who really struggles with stairs and shouldn’t feel embarrassed by their disability.

• Margus (8/5): Don't miss the breakfast - It's a cozy little family-run guesthouse and there is hence a nice personal touch to the approach. Located in the Headington area in the outskirts of Oxford, the convenience of its location depends on what you want to do in Oxford. In my case, it was a perfect fit. However, even if you need to go to the old town, the bus stop is practically in front of the guest house, and local shops and eateries are nearby, as is a nice large park. The real highlight is the breakfast which they cook fresh for you from the menu (plus the usual items on the buffet), so it's surely worth the extra 10 pounds. The breakfast room is nice and light to sit in. It is fair to realise it is a guest house, not a hotel, so you should know it's not the newest house, and not the most spacious, some floorboards can creak etc. However, I found everything adequate and thought I paid a fair price. The only thing I struggled with was that it got surprisingly cold at night and was sorry I didn't ask for an extra blanket. I was there before Easter.

• Heather (10/5): Excellent - I usually stay in chain hotels and have not stayed at a small guest hotel before, however I chose the Oxford Guest House as the description said there was a bus stop outside for busses to Oxford. It is in an excellent location, good breakfast, friendly staff and the beds comfortable. The information pack was the best I have seen anywhere, with information on local places to eat and shop.

• Sue (6/5): Overall a reasonable stay with a few good/very good aspects. - Breakfast was good, I enjoyed it. Beds were comfortable and the fan was really welcome particularly on night one as it was an extremely warm night. The room was clean and having cool storage was an added bonus! The location suited us as my husband was having surgery at the Nuffield Centre this meant I could walk back and forth quite easily. The shower was great a good size and very clean. The quality of the towels - not at all soft which is our preference, they also seemed on the thin side. Whilst the beds were comfortable there was nothing else to sit on (apart from a small totally inadequate chair, even a dining style chair would have been an improvement Lastly, the staff were not as forthcoming or welcoming as I'd expected from reading previous reviews before choosing Oxford Guest House, that is not to say they were rude or hostile but simply not as relaxed or approachable as I was hoping. I was feeling stressed anyway due to my husband's situation so this may have coloured my view slightly.

The room was quite small and cramped by the time a double bed and bunk bed were in there, however I still rate it 10/10 because for the price, location and all other aspects easily justify it being a bit of a squeeze!

The location is fantastic, a bus stop right out front, the rooms are exceptionally clean, the staff attentive and very very nice. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. It was a fantastic value for such a lovely little hotel. Out room was in the back of the guest house and was very quiet. Kasun, who seemed to do it all, was just a lovely man who made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

It has available parking on site, the rooms are clean,although very small and the bed is comfortable I had all I needed to stay for one night The checking in system could be improved when the host is not on site, although I missed the email instructing me how to open the front door

• Grace (10/5): I've found my Oxford place to stay for the next couple of years! - It was perfect for me. I visit Oxford Brookes three times a year, and it has taken me 4 tries to find a place to stay that is near enough to have a good morning walk (15-20 mins) to the campus. The room is a nice size and roomy enough for me to sit at the desk and do a little work. The best thing about this place is that the Oxford Tube stop right outside. This will now be my place to stay for the next couple of years. I should have booked a meal. I'll do that when I return.
• Cendey (6/5): If the heating system had worked properly, I could have said that it was a stay worth the money. - The price is reasonable, and the location is close to Headington shops and bus stops. During my first day and night, the radiator did not work at all, and the room was very cold. It was impossible to sleep or rest because of the low temperature. Since there was no reception or staff available during the night, I had to endure the cold until morning. When I reported this issue the next day, I was told that I should have sent a message via Booking.com during the night. However, there was no way for me to know that I was expected to contact the property through Booking.com in such a situation, especially when there was no staff or contact information available at night.

• Richard and Jennifer (7/5): Clean and tidy stay - Had everything we needed and great off street parking at the back of the property. On a very busy street but could not hear traffic in the small back room. Had a lovely breakfast Room was small but it was advertised as such. Someone played a tv or radio very loudly waking us at 11.30 pm and continued until after 2.30 am. Sounded like the noise was from above us, so had an interrupted night

• Lynwen (8/5): - Friendly, personable staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. New bed and recently decorated room. The window blind didn't fully lower as it was too wide for the frame, a curtain would have been nice for privacy and to block out the light especially as the room was on the ground floor. Otherwise great.

• Harriet (10/5): - A lovely guesthouse, staff were friendly and kind and the breakfast was delicious. Easy to get in and out of Oxford and London by bus.

• gillian anne (10/5): - Very easy to park and check in and they upgraded me without me asking - which was very kind of them! I had a lovely family room, when I had booked a single. Fantastic!
• Cecilia (4/5): - Había un bicho bajo de las sábanas. El baño estaba lleno de hojas. Encontramos una telaraña enorme en un escritorio. La pared estaba llena de manchas. Desde luego necesita una limpieza a fondo o una buena reforma, más bien.
• Kirsty (8/5): - Comfortable beds, location right on bus routes. USB ports right by the beds. Shampoo in the conditioner dispenser. Advised hosts on day 2 but never corrected. Poor lighting in the room.
• Diann (8/5): Comfortable, clean, friendly helpful staff. Excellent location for our needs on this visit. - The location for our visit was very good. Good bus services to Oxford and London. Very basic but clean and comfortable.

• Jean (8/5): - Lovely freshly cooked breakfast, served with a smile. Everyone was greeted as they entered the breakfast room, lots of little extras, like decaff coffee and tea in bedrooms. Downstairs bedroom ( accessible but not needed), the only opening window was in the shower room. Would have been hot in the summer. One window with opaque covering did open but into the breakfast room. A light in that room was put on in the night which woke me.
