Guest Reviews
- Ros (8/5): Lovely stay at The Swan - Simon and his staff looked after me so well, they could not have been more welcoming. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast over the road at Lynnwoods was fantastic as was supper at the Black Bear. Really good hot shower too. A mirror on the wall in the bedroom would have been useful for ensuring I didn't look like a haystack after drying my hair!
- Hayley (10/5): The friendliest of Cotswolds stays in a idilic location - We absolutely loved the warm, friendly atmosphere of this charming Cotswolds stay. Simon and his team were fantastic, welcoming, attentive, and making everyone feel like old friends from the moment they walked through the door.
The location in Moreton-in-Marsh is ideal for exploring the beautiful surrounding villages of the Cotswolds, then returning in the evening to enjoy a great selection of bars and restaurants just a short stroll away. That convenience was a real highlight for us, and we’d highly recommend staying in Moreton-in-Marsh especially at The Swan Inn.
Our room had everything we needed, with a very comfortable bed, and we felt it offered excellent value for money for a weekend getaway. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
We truly loved everything about our stay. Simon has only owned the property for a year, but you can already see the care, attention, and thoughtful improvements he’s putting into it. There’s a real sense of pride and vision behind what he’s creating.
It’s clear that The Swan Inn will only continue to get better and better as he carries on with his updates — and that makes us even more excited to return in the future.
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely weekend away - Central location Friendly staff
- Nadine (6/5): Fantastic location and great staff. - Location and staff Needs some TLC and occasionally cold.
- Imelda (6/5): Comfortable inn with good breakfast included - Good size family room. Staff super friendly and helpful Toilet drains smells. Prob cos of the old building
- Jade (4/5): Lovely hosts but room rather unclean and loud - Clean fresh bed linen and towels and the hosts were lovely The bathroom was dirty. As was alot of the room. It didn’t feel value for money for the high price. There was also a creepy loft hatch im the room and a loud noise coming from the bathroom most of the night (sounded like piping from an adjoining bathroom). Sorry to have to write this because the hosts really were very lovely!
- Huang Yen (5/5): - The location is good. And the staff is nice. The wifi connection is unstable. And it8jard to find an outlet to charge my phone.
On the second day I stayed, the light bulb in the bathroom just couldn't work.
- Cristhal (10/5): Amazing staff, excellent location, comfy rooms, I had a great time staying here. - Simon and his team are so lovely. They were so nice and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about them. They are seriously the best. Location is perfect. My friend and I wanted to spend a few days in the Cotswolds. The Swan Inn is in the best location. Only a 10 minute walk from the station. It is along the main strip, where there are many places to get food at or pubs to pop into for a drink. We had a great time. The beds are so comfy and the rooms are cozy and clean. This place is like the Tardis. It's a lot bigger than it looks. We loved our time here and we would most definitely return if we ever find ourselves in the Cotswolds again.
- Philip (10/5): - Simon and his team very welcoming Nice hotel everyone pleasant very dog friendly
- Mark (6/5): - Great location Needs money spending on it
- Ben (8/5): - Exceptional location with everything we wanted to see nearby
- Joanne (8/5): Great and looked after us very well. - Great location Host and staff were really lovely.
- Stefania (8/5): - Accoglienza e servizio perfetti. Cotswolds indimenticabili
- Claire (10/5): Thank you Simon and team for a fabulous stay. Looking forward to returning to the Swan next year! - Amazing stay at the Swan! Simon and his team are so welcoming and made us feel so at home throughout our stay. It is located in a prime location close to amenities and the local bus route and train station. The room was clean and tidy, a lovely comfortable bed and recently redecorated room. The Sunday roast was also fabulous. Will definitely stay again on our next trip to the Cotswolds!
- Elisa (1/5): -
- Adam (4/5): Not Great - No Breakfast and no food on site in the evening. Not told about the food in the evening until after the room was booked. I would have booked some where else. Will not use this hotel again No Food
- Lucie (8/5): - Friendly attentive welcome. Buzzy bar in the evening. Quiet room, central location. Room decor a little tired but think it's under new ownership who plan to renovate.
- Carol (9/5): Great little pub with rooms. Lovely really friendly and helpful staffCentral location is great, and opposite bus stop to - Fantastic location and really helpful friendly staff! The shower was tepid but manageable
- lee (4/5): Very disappointed considering cost of room. - Great location, car park, sky sports to bar area and Simon and his staff very friendly. I understand that Moreton is a conservation area therefore any changes (if allowed) have to be sympathetic to the area. This means that bedrooms to the pub are metal single glazed windows which are prone to condensation this time of year which means that if not heated regularly the room can smell damp. Also the room we occupied, the bathroom was is in need of some TLC, painted wall tiles peeling, floor grout to floor tiles missing, creased curtains and mould to back of curtains along with roller blind not working. The cost of the room per night was similar to other pub properties in the area but probably should be lowered until repairs to the outside fabric of building: gutters, rainwater pipes etc. along with repairs to internal rooms especially bathrooms is completed.
- Guest (10/5): Great - Breakfast
- ANGUS (8/5): -
- Tracey (8/5): A Jewel in the Cotswolds - Simon is the most welcoming host and Scott is a fabulous chef. The team are friendly and go all out to ensure you have everything you need. The rooms are spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable. There's a great atmosphere in the pub, we felt very much at home. Perfectly situated in the heart of the village
- Craig (8/5): -
- Jane (8/5): -
- Linda (10/5): we had a lovely time at the Swan Inn. The staff were helpful & nothing was too much trouble. - it was warm & cosy nothing
- Melissa (7/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): Overnight stay - Situation was fantastic. Right in the centre of Moreton. Staff were really welcoming & couldn't do enough for me. Made me feel very welcome. As they were not doing food, gave me recommendations & directions. The room was coay. It had some lovely features (four poster bed). Bed was so comfortable. Would defo stay again The light in the bathroom was motion sensored. As I was showering it went off!
- Diana (9/5): Comfortable, clean pub rooms in a really good location. - In a great location and the room was clean and comfortable with everything I needed. The staff were friendly and check-in and check- out were smooth and easy. Nothing
- Guest (10/5): -
- Brian (5/5): Mixed. Sure, it will improve over the next year. - The welcome was good. Staff friendly. Owner pleasant and helpful but has a lot of improvements to sort out. Having to go over the road for breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): Outstanding Friendly Service - Absolutely amazing staff. We felt like part of the team. Our dog became the unofficial pub dog. Simon and Carrie were so friendly and helpful. Everything is clean. The location is excellent. We had a fantastic time. All good. Room was compact and clean.
- Yelyzaveta (9/5): - Great location, friendly staff, very beautiful room
- Nigel (9/5): Our Stay at the Swan Hotel , Morton on the Marsh - The Swan Hotel was an oldy worldy place to stay definitely got history which I love , staff were fantastic......couldn't do enough for us , the hotel is what you would expect from an old place but didn't compromise on the comfort , excellent 😉 we had evening food which was fantastic very good and well cooked and prepared by the chef. We would have preferred on having breakfast in the restaurant but unfortunately they dont supply it , not so keen on the bar area , mainly because it had sport on TV with a pool table but just because it wasn't our cup of tea doesn't mean its not somebody else's so its not a complaint
- Moloney (10/5): - Cosy and clean and friendly
- Shelley (10/5): Wonderful stay with amazing hosts at The Swan Inn! I even got chocolates and a birthday card! - The location was brilliant. The staff were excellent
Simon and his team went above and beyond to look after me. Would be good if breakfast was onsite.
- Tracey (9/5): Fantastic stay with lovely staff - Location and staff Nothing
- Jennifer (6/5): -
- Liriannis (7/5): - Location
- Rachel (6/5): The room was basically fine, however I personally think should be marketed at a lower price - Location good Room cold ish
- Lilia (8/5): - The breakfast served at a cafe across the street was excellent as well as the Inn’s meals at the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and the location is very good I didn’t find the bed comfortable
- Enrique (8/5): A traditional place at the heart of the Cotswolds very well manned by Simon, a true sympathetic lad. - Simon's hospitality (the owner), he ensures guests are satisfied and provide very good leads about cotswolds traditions and whereabouts some sewage odour coming up through the WC, most likely due to the oldness of the building, by the way one of the beauties.
- Nancy (10/5): This was a quick change in our plans and the staff was so prompt in responding to emails regarding location, drop bags o - Quaint, charming and even fresh flowers in the room. It was perfect, delightful walk from the train station and close to the bus stop for visiting other towns during the day and return.
- Manju (8/5): -
- Guest (9/5): Excellent - Room and location, welcoming staff Nothing
- Brooke (10/5): We had a wonderful stay and I would recommend to anyone who wants to have a relaxing break. - The location was perfect! Lots of places to shop and eat. Simon was great and made us feel very comfortable.
- Maria (7/5): Nice little hotel - Staff and owner were great. The room was dated but comfortable enough Bathroom needed a little attention
- Ivan (6/5): Despite the issues we would stay again, as we had stayed numerous times previously and some things can be out of the con - Location, staff who could not have been more helpful, Scott and Carrie first class. The smell in our room, there the whole weekend although Scott did his very best to try and sort out but wasn’t successful. Couldn’t shower either as the smell was unbearable. Unfortunately our allocated room was given to the first occupants of this room as the hotel was fully booked.
- Guest (1/5): Avoid at all cost - The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I woke up in the middle of the night to find bedbugs crawling on the bed — absolutely unacceptable. The facilities are outdated, the hygiene is poor, and the owner’s attitude was even worse. Instead of apologizing or offering a refund, they denied the problem, kept questioning where we came from, and even suggested calling the police to send us back to London in the middle of the night.
When my mother, who doesn’t speak English, tried to communicate through me, the staff showed no patience or empathy and rudely accused her of “having no manners.” The next morning they admitted they had bedbug issues before, which directly contradicted their earlier denial.
This place fails in cleanliness, honesty, and basic respect for guests. Avoid at all costs.
- Cheryl (8/5): - Comfortable, cosy, old pub with heaps of atmosphere! I had two delicious dinners there. Breakfasts are lovely and presently served across the road.
Simon will take great care of you and make you feel very welcome. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe. Easy walk from Moreton-in-Marsh railway station, bus stops, and the Go Cotswolds tours pickup point. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely stay there again 😊
- shao mei (10/5): - you get a very personalised touch here from Simon & the team. first time I've had a greeting card welcoming us in the room. everyone is very friendly, helpful and humorous. very enjoyable stay and good food as well. nothing
- Audrey (6/5): -
- Linda (10/5): I will definitely use this hotel again due to the great staff! - Perfect location for my visit and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful!
- Guest (10/5): A cosy hotel. - It was really nice and cosy, and has everything that you will need for a couple of nights stay. The bar is cosy and there is a range of different drinks available. The food is really nice, especially the cheesy garlic bread. They dont do breakfast but you can get some from a cafe across the road. I also managed to find somewhere to park straight away on the front of the building. There is a car park , but it only has room for 3 cars. The staff were really friendly and interactive. They made me feel very comfortable during my stay. There is no breakfast being served. You have to go across the road and pay at a cafe, each time you go in there.
- Lizzie (5/5): Breakfast improved the moood but overall in need of improvement - The breakfast offering, linked with the cafe across the road was amazing. The rooms are tired and in need for renovation.
Our room hasn’t been cleaned efficiently prior to our check in and clearly had a not a deep clean in a long while.
The staff were apologetic to our complaints and completed a clean whilst we were out. Also offered complementary drinks.
- KInind (10/5): - Excellent location, very friendly staff, cozy and conformable rooms Nothing in particular
- Mark (8/5): A good stay in the Cotswolds - Excellent central location for exploring the Cotswolds. Breakfast was available in the cafe over the road.
- Jaroslavna (10/5): Good value for money stay in a traditional inn - The place is lovely and quaint, the room is spacious and warm, and there is everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Water pressure in the shower is strong, the wifi is fast, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The location is convenient, right next to a bus stop and in the centre of the village. Nothing, everything was great, thank you.
- Rita (8/5): - Simon est très sympathique
Chambre assez spacieuse
- shani (7/5): -
- Titolo (9/5): -
- julie (10/5): -
- Sue (7/5): - Simon was very friendly and helpful. Big comfy bed, lovely towels, tea and coffee facilities. Good location at the end of the high street. Nice bar area. We didn't eat here as their restaurant is not open on a Wednesday but had a good meal at The Bear Inn across the road. Bathroom needs TLC, especially the loose toilet seat and tiles peeling, but I think this will be addressed as they are currently upgrading the property.
- Krysta (8/5): Great value for money stay in Moreton - Great location on the main street. Lovely old property that the new owner and his team are loveingly sprucing up where the years have caused some wear and year. Downstairs already very tastefully done. Comfortable beds, very nice big fluffy towels, excellent shower pressure and good wifi Bathroom and room showed some age/wear and tear but confident this will be fixed to the same high standard as the already remodeled downstairs.
- Bert (9/5): Great Stay in Moreton - A nice, English feeling inn. Breakfast provided at a nearby cafe. Simon the owner and his staff were quite accommodating . Our room was very nice - spacious, window overlooking High Street, good lighting, with a kettle. The bed was low and soft, but turned out to be comfortable. Small sink. One window didn't close tightly.
- Sian (7/5): - Friendly personnel. They helped carrying the suitcases upstairs Extremely small room
- tvisha (9/5): -
- Grange (10/5): - everything,
really nice stay.
- Susanne (9/5): - The warmest welcome possible! Everything was perfect
- Emilie Prytz (10/5): - Lovely place in beautiful Moreton-in-Marsh. The room was clean and comfortable, and the people very helpful.
- Ann (9/5): -
- Vicky (10/5): Stopped here before on numerous occasions to visit the Morton Show, and will be back - Great room, four poster bed, very comfortable, fairly quite considering its a very old building with original windows and on a main junction, host Simon was very friendly and after a couple of minutes talking to him you felt like you had made a friend for life, nothing was too much trouble for him and made our stay funny and one we will remember ! Breakfast being over the road at a café, but this said they were very friendly and the service was good and they did make us feel welcome
- Helen (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - The cafe was class really gorgeous meals Simon and the team were so lovely and I felt like I mattered not just another guest. The evening meals were really tasty and reasonable. I really enjoyed my stay.
- Michael (7/5): Nice place but terrible breakfast. - very friendly owner and staff. Great location The breakfast was served at a restaurant across the street and it was not good at all. Very small and took a long time. Not worth it and shouldn't be part of the price
Rest musste man bezahlen
- stephen (10/5): -
- Laurie (9/5): The owner and employees were all so nice. They made you feel like a VIP. - The Swan Inn has a lot of charm. Our stay was a wonderful experience. Love the window in our room which had arched multi panel windows overlooking the beautiful flower baskets hanging out front. Its new owner is in the process of making renovations and upgrades which will add to the pub-bed & breakfast experience, but it’s not done yet. So if you don’t have a vision for the future and just want everything completed today, you might find something to complain about. It didn’t bother us.
- Kevin (5/5): - location Booked 2 double bed rooms and got 2 rooms both with singles. Lady on reception seemed indifferent to this even when i showed her the booking stating it was fault of booking.com. Our room imo should not have been sold. It was extremely dusty inc the 'velvet' headboard and had large brown damp stains on the wall. Appreciate it might be going through a much needed redecoration but maybe wait until especially this room done. Bed was clean and comfortable. No idea who owner was as saw different person each day and when i asked was told it wasn't them. Got back to hotel 9:45 on Saturday evening to total darkness which considering the person on the bar that evening had said residents can get a drink as late as they want was unexpected so went elsewhere. Breakfast is at cafe over the road where you can have one coffee (only std coffee or a pointless £1 surcharge) and a limited choice from the menu. Food is great but overly popular so on Sunday morning the wait time was 90 mins and only ordered yoghurt & granola. There are so many nice cafes in Moreton that maybe should look at linking up with somewhere else? Good luck with the renovation but an awful lot to improve on
- Balmer-Smith (10/5): Lovey place, fantastic location, fabulous staff! - The location of The Swan Inn was perfect, but the best part about this accommodation is the owner Simon, who couldn't do enough for us.
I though that I had booked two rooms for two nights, as it turns out I had only booked one room (totally my mistake!) Simon went out of his way to try to accommodate us for the additional night - which was very much appreciated.
Furthermore, I had my little dog with me that I was supposed to be dropping off with a friend in a nearby town, but because of the confusion over the rooms I didn't get chance to drop my dog with them, so Simon let her stay with us in our room :-)
- Liz (7/5): - Friendly, helpful staff and great location. Able to easily visit other villages on the local bus. Other attractions within walking distance.
A great breakfast included, provided by the café across the street. Towels weren't replaced for the entire time we were there (although I probably could have requested more) and there was nowhere really to hang them to dry. Shower could do with an extra clean around the base.
- Elena (10/5): - Bellissime camere molto ampie, pulite e romantiche.
- Philip (8/5): - Helpful and friendly staff and excellent location for our needs. The oscillating fan was greatly appreciated. Very little extra space in the room for luggage. The timer on the bathroom light was a negative.
- Heather (8/5): - The location was great. Friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms.
We ate there too and although the choice was fairly limited, the food we had was really good. I don't think we had fully realised that breakfast was a voucher system that you could use in the cafe across the road. It was very nice but again, the amount of food on offer was limited compared with what you usually expect when you pay for bed and breakfast. The food we had was very nice but if you wanted more than one thing, you must pay.
- Eurgan Wyn (6/5): Convenient location disappointed with the breakfast - Convenient Location Kitchen was closed during the stay
No breakfast at the hotel, was sent across the road to a cafe expected to have a full breakfast as part of the stay but was only offered a sausage or bacon sandwich. Only tea and coffee option no juice. Poor value for money
- Guest (8/5): Old charm - Lovely room , warm friendly welcome on arrival .
Very comfortable. Had a good sleep and great view from room . Lovely breakfast included at cafe across the road .
- David (9/5): - Simon and the entire staff were lovely and very helpful.
- Yu-Hsin (9/5): - Lovely room, lovely staffs, lovely stay
- Stephen (8/5): Very enjoyable - Quirky and the owner is a lovely guy. Slightly dated
- Chloe (8/5): -
- Carol (7/5): Good value - The room was large and comfortable with plenty of space for clothes to be stored. The location was perfect and it was good value for money. You had to cross a busy road to get breakfast from a cafe. We sat at a dirty table and were told it was a 45 minute wait.
- Paul (9/5): Good place to stay for a trip to Moreten. - Lovely old pub - good location and friendly owner.
- Tibbits (8/5): -
- Ysha Monique (10/5): - Accessible. Staff are very accommodating None
- Werner (9/5): - Alter Pub. Altes, rustikales Zimmer. Klein, aber sauber. Bad eng, aber ok. Die Besitzer /Angestellten waren sehr nett. Das Fenster konnte nicht geschlossen werden. Aufgrund der Nostalgie. Konnten wir gut mit Leben...
- Jeff (9/5): - Host Simon is just the most friendly and helpful guy you could wish to meet and does everything he can to ensure that your stay is enjoyable.
