Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (10/5): - We arrived late but Cindy was there to greet us and give us our key and overview of the property. She was also there at the excellent breakfast and chatted with us about her life in Iceland and gave us recommendations for things to do in the area. We saw whales from the pier and walked along the quiet beach. Overall an excellent stay.
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff was excellent, personable & attentive. Room was a little small but adequate, very clean & comfy. Great rural location with amazing views of the sound & mountains.
- Heidi (10/5): - Cindy and Katerina were excellent. We saw bottlenose whales. There was a quaint book store and unique dining options. Highly recommend!!
- Gayle (10/5): - Great location and staff. Hot tub was great to relax in after hiking.
- TERESA (10/5): - Nice
- Gary (10/5): - A wonderful experience! The inn is located in a very well-done conversion of a school that is part of a compound that includes a church and cemetery. A very relaxing country atmosphere. We didn't find many hiking opportunities accesible from the property, but plenty to do nearby. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and providing much advice regarding local sites and hiking opportunies. The staff was the highlight of our 2 nights at Holt. The breakfast was excellent and is the only meal offered. For others, Flateryi is a short drive and has 2 options (only one after 5:00 p.m.). But then there is Kaffi Sol, which is on the way to Flateryi. The posted hours are 12-5. But, reservations can be made for evening meals. They are homecooked by Gunna and were delicious and she was wonderful. Dining at Kaffi Sol was a highlight of our stay not only at Holt Inn but of our entire travels in the West Fjords.
- Hyesoon (8/5): - The room was clean and the staff were wonderful.
- Milan (10/5): - One of our favorite stays in Iceland! We arrived pretty late into the night but there was no hassle checking in. Room was clean, bed was comfy! Take advantage of the hot tub, it was a treat soaking under the northern lights. To top it all off, a delicious complimentary breakfast buffet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the family atmosphere and hospitality. Clean rooms , nice and bright very comfortable beds , use of fridge and microwave . Loved the hot tub through a path in a wooded area , great even in the rain . Even a piano to play
- Yankiel (10/5): - The room was in a perfect condition and the staff was so nice and helpful
- Mel (10/5): - This is an extraordinary, small, fantastic place in the middle of nowhere, in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. Very personal service, warm, friendly. If you value quiet isolation in a spectacular Icelandic fjord, this is the place for you. Can't wait to go back!
- Karen (10/5): Wonderful place! - This family owned inn is great. You feel like home. Breakfast is very good, the room is super clean and comfortable. The service is outstanding and they have a hot tub!!! Beautiful landscapes can be seen from the inn. Love it!
- Will (10/5): Breathtaking location - This inn is located in an absolutely gorgeous area of the Westfjords that will take your breath away. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Room was very nice. The staff were very accommodating to our schedule change and helped make our trip stressfree and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again
- Karen (10/5): A charm of a place - Very cozy place with gorgeous scenery. Very clean, confortable and peaceful place. Breakfast was very nice and coffee in Iceland is always very good. Love this place.
- Radison (10/5): - Holt Inn was the most comfortable and pleasant place we stayed during our trip to Iceland. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were kind and helpful. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back.
- Brett (10/5): - A truly gorgeous setting and a marvelous staff make the Holt Inn a must for anyone visiting Westfjords in Iceland. A delightful breakfast starts the day off right, and the outdoor hot tub (with cozy shower and changing room) over looking the fjord provides a great night cap—even if the sun never sets! If we ever make it back to Iceland, a stop at the Holt Inn will definitely be on our itinerary.
Be sure the visit the long wooden pier down the road for a wonderful beach experience.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely Inn in the middle of nowhere next to our favorite restaurant/cafe in all of Iceland. Staff was amazing and truly cares about their guests. Excellent breakfast too :)
- Ann (10/5): Great stay - Very charming hotel with friendly staff. Very cozy room with very comfortable bed. Great location for visiting the area. Would definitely stay again.
- Jingtao (10/5): - This is an excellent place to stay in westfjords. The surround area is so beautiful. The rooms are clean and modern. The owner and staffer are so friendly and thoughtful.
- Carol (6/5): Good, but poor water pressure - Our room was small but clean. Water pressure was poor. The towels were stiff and scratchy. Breakfast was fine, standard fare. The hotel setting was stunning and quiet.
- David (10/5): - Lovely family run hotel in an old schoolhouse. Beautiful location.
- Heather (10/5): - Beautiful setting ! The interior rooms and common ares were were terrific!
Cindy , the person who took cre of everything was amazing, so friendly and welcoming ! Thank you so much !
- Lila (10/5): - A hot tub with a mountain view, a delicious breakfast, beautiful grounds and convenient check-in are real bonuses. All was as advertised. Anna was especially accommodating, offering and sharing her homemade cakes and jams at breakfast. Highly recommend and would love to stay there again.
- Marvic (10/5): Amazing! - This Inn was a little heaven in the middle of nowhere. The owner is a beautiful soul, who really helped us (when we had our car stuck in the snow and she got us someone to help us take it out) she really did her best 🙏
Beautiful room, modern, and very comfortable.
Breakfast was great as well.
Would def book again here.
Thankyou for hosting us.
- Mona (10/5): - We picked this property as I had read in other reviews that the scenery was better than in Isafjordur. It was stunning, mountai s all the way around. The room was a bit smaller than expected, but adequate and clean. Cindy the hotess was exceptionally kind and helpful. We were offered a lamb dinner for a fee. It was outstanding. I think we were offered this, as they had a bus tour group staying that night.
- Shelby (10/5): - I had a lovely three night stay here and enjoyed it very much. The setting is beautiful, and very peaceful. The old school house has a lot of character and charm, and the hot pot was a great spot to relax at the end of the day.
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
I had a double economy room and it was perfect for me, but if there were two people plus luggage it might be a bit crowded for some so just keep that in mind (not a complaint at all, just information)
It was a highlight of my trip to stay here.
- KANJANA (10/5): - We really enjoyed our staying here. The view was incredible!
- mama (10/5): - We loved Holt Inn! It has a unique history and wonderful hosts and owner. The room was just right and the inn itself has a large lounge to relax in. The town of Flateyri is close by where we had a great dinner at the local pub called Vagninn. Definitely recommend both Holt Inn and Vagninn!
- Verified traveler (4/5): No refund - Why am I getting a survey when I didn't stay and requested a refund?
- JOSE JOAQUÍN (8/5): - Nice B&B
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable and peaceful stay - Super comfortable stay in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The people who checked me in and out were very friendly and made me feel welcome. I definitely appreciated the private bathroom although it could easily get a bit messy on the floor.
- Tomer (10/5): Lovely place with perfect service - As we enter the place we felt a warm welcoming. The staff was pleasent, there is a hot coffee all day long for the guests. The dinner and the breakfast are great and there is a warm pool and hot spring which are available for the guests (for a low price).
We recommend the place very much!
- Lynda (8/5): - Pretty area. Good breakfast selection. Easy check-in. Bring shampoo if desired. Don’t let google maps take you across the field. Do explore the west fjords!
- LeeAnne (10/5): - I am so glad I spent my two last nights in the Westfjords at Holt Inn. If possible I would recommend spending 3 night here as there is so much to see and do in and around Holt. There is the most amazing view from their hot tub that you will ever see. The staff and owner are incredibly friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is offered and there is a fridge to store your own food. Would definitely go back and recommend this inn.
- Aaron (10/5): - Comfortable with very attentive staff.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Kristina was a lovely host helping arrange our needs and help answer questions about the local area.
The Holt Inn is set in a stunning location in a fjord, with panonamic views from outside of mountains and sea. The lack of people in general, the tranquility and beauty highlights the simplicty of it's surroundings making this a true gem of the Westfjords of you want to escape from reality. Plus the hot tub is set overlooking stunning scenery. Sat in there for 4 hours until 1am waiting for the Northen Lights.
There are also bikes you can use. Great venue for a simple night stip over to break up your journey or better still, stay 3 nights, enjoy the are it's in and local fjords and town too. Absolutely loved it. This would be an ultimate escape for a quiet time. Wish I stayed a week and not two nights.
- Miriam (10/5): Perfect one-night stay - We had the hotel literally just for us! We arrived at around 4 pm and the owner left a kind note for us at the reception desk together with our room key. Coffee and cookies were available in the kitchen and there was even a piano which I really enjoyed playing for a couple of hours to relax from a long day. Breakfast was ok, everything was left in the fridge for us to self-serve.
- Chris (8/5): - The view and surroundings were fantastic. Check in was smooth and informative. The room was a little small to have two full sized suitcases but we managed. Unfortunately, there was a bad odour in the lobby area. I don’t know where it was coming from but it was still there the next day.
- Zuchada (10/5): - Stunning location, nice big room, comfortable beds and lovely staffs. Hot tub is also a real treat.
- Max (10/5): - Great place to stay on Westfjords. Close to Isafjordur. Amazing food at the restaurant, great breakfast.
- Marianna (10/5): - Marvelous location. Very clean room, with useful accessories. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast was good too. Useful suggestions from the hotel to reach their location.
- Makena (10/5): - The holt inn was by far the best place I stayed during my 12 days in Iceland. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was great. The views from the property are like something out of a postcard. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Iceland.
- Joseph (10/5): - Holt Inn is one of those rare finds just outside of Ísafjörður. A hotel/inn located in the country side outside of the town of Ísafjörður. The rooms are comfortable and the vibe welcoming. They have a hot tub on site and sell snacks and beers, with a free breakfast included in your stay - a rarity in Iceland. A 15 minute drive to Ísafjörður, it’s the perfect summer place if you want a quiet place to stay with all the access of the town nearby.
- Sue (10/5): - Hotel was quaint and surrounded by some of the most beautiful country. Our room was spacious for three of us with private bath and breakfast was generous. Owners/staff even found & returned our belongings left by mistake in our room. Would certainly return!
- Adam (10/5): - Beautiful property in the fjords. Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. While in the country, it is easily accessible to Isafjordur for dining and other activities. Thanks for a great stay!
- David (10/5): Beautiful area, great lodging - Beautiful views everywhere you turn. Feels very remote, even though it's just off the main road. It is a little far from town, and everything in Flateryi was closed when we were there it seems, but Ísafjörður, the main town in the region, isn't too far away.
Our room was great - very spacious compared to other accommodations we've had in Iceland. Nice bathroom, too, and it seems like every room would have a nice view.
- Miguel (10/5): Awesome place to stay if you are in the Westfjords - Great place to stay if you are adventurous enough to explore the Westfjords. Loved the location, in the middle of nowhere with a huge moutain in the proximity. The hosts were very friendly and polite. The place was well kept and confortable. Breakfast had decent variety and quality.
- Carole (8/5): - We loved the property but our heater wasn’t working. Everyone did their best to resolve the problem but it took a couple of hours
- Bonnie (10/5): - This is a great little inn in an absolutely gorgeous setting. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms are super clean with very comfy beds. We loved it at the Holt him and wished we could've stayed longer.
- Guillermo (10/5): Perfect hotel in perfect location - Charming hotel which in spectacular Westfjords used to be a schoolhouse so lots of character . Staff VERY friendly and helpful . Our room was cozy and clean with an amazing view.
- Jim (10/5): Quiet little place - Holt Inn was a quiet little place a short distance away from Isafjordur (just south of the tunnel). Quite close to the city center in Isafjordur - about 15 minutes or less where most of the restaurants are located. The manager of this guesthouse helped me with a reservation to the most sought after fish restaurant om town - Tjoruhusid. It was outstanding! An absolutely must go if you are in the area and a reservation is also a must.
- Henk (6/5): - Room where clean, but thats about it. Room was verry small, the door would hit the bed when entering the room. The poperty needs some updating. There was no tv and the overall feel was like staying with you grandparent. The breakfast was also disapointing we decided to buy our own stuff. Woudn't stay here again.
- Elisabeth (10/5): Wonderful Inn - The Holt Inn is an excellent choice for a trip to the Westfjords. Very clean and comfortable with a lovely breakfast and cookies, tea and coffee available 24/7. The hot tub was really appreciated, as well as the comfy robes and slippers for the tub.
- Judith (10/5): Cute guesthouse in beautiful surroundings! - We loved this guesthouse with its friendly staff and comfortable rooms with their own private bathroom. We didn't take advantage of the hot tub, but it was set in wooded surroundings with a great view of the mountains. Nice breakfast provided in the morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A little slice of paradise in the Westfjords - The Holt Inn is simply wonderful. The location, the rooms, the breakfast, the hot tub…all fantastic.
The only minor criticism would be that there are not blackout curtains in the bathroom. There were in the bedrooms, which was great for sleeping, but if you have to wake up in the middle of the night, it is a rude awakening when you go to use the toilet (summer problem only). But as I say, that was the only minor issue. Everything else was just perfect.
They even had a plug for our electric car! Well done!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is such a lovely little quiet piece of paradise! Olga warmly greeted me when I arrived and showed me around the house which was so warm and lovely! The hot tub was such a bonus in the beautiful setting and I made sure to take advantage each of my two nights. The complimentary continental breakfast features cold cut meats and boiled eggs along side other options. The room and wash room was just perfect- only thing I wished was that there were two pillows instead of one. ( I was a solo traveler). Isafjourd is just a short drive away and Flateyri was absolutely charming! Wouod absolutelt recommend this property and hope to stay again!
